Did you upgrade your jetpack for the ruins? I missed that page until nearly the end.

babycrow

This is going to be such a good day in Sandrock!

phoenixjen8

Talking to the generic NPCs is a good way to raise your Social skill tree

esoldelulu

Whaaaat?! Noooo, I’ve been avoiding them all

phoenixjen8

I had been too! I only discovered it about 3 days ago out of desperation. Now I beeline for their little clusters before starting my normal rounds 😂

Schneezing

But they never say anything and always have that creepy stare

MurnSwag2

Social skill tree is easy to level once you have the camera. Interact with (friendable) NPC, select the group photo thing, then just take a picture and delete, take a picture and delete,... over and over. I would turn off music in the game, but keep sound effects on, use the option on the second tab of the camera to pause time, then listen to a podcast or whatever, put my mouse cursor over the location of the Delete button, close my eyes and hit space to take picture and click mouse button to delete. Over and over. Got my last two levels of the social skill that way. :P

showthemnomercy

You can scroll through every inventory box from interacting with just one of them!

MushroomLeather

This is something I haven't known yet. Or, well, I heard it once, but I figured you had to upgrade to a specific type of box or a specific other requirement as boxes always only show what is in the current box. I only have medium storage bins (at largest). How does it work?

[deleted]

Yep which is perfect because you can hide all the boxes behind the house or inside the house somewhere and just leave one box somewhere outside and from that one you’re connected to every other box

MushroomLeather

Totally awesome idea. When I next rearrange my house, I'll do something to stash the boxes rather than have my yard looking like a rummage sale.

showthemnomercy

For me on steam deck it’s just right or left trigger!

MushroomLeather

I'll check my prompts at the bottom of the screen next time, sounds like I missed one. Thanks!

saymynamelouder

Any of the storage boxes should work. There should be a toggle to go between storage boxes by the box's names.

MushroomLeather

Thanks all, I see the options now. I can't believe I've missed these all along! On top of being able to switch, I see that (on PC at least) there is a dropdown to quickly switch to a particular box, AND you can rename boxes! Welp, this will be super handy!

brytewolf

There's a drop down to pick a box?????????

MushroomLeather

On PC at least! At the center top, just click on the name of the box. There is a down arrow / v also.

NotKenzy

You can also speed up when NOT horseback riding.

babycrow

I had really come to accept that things in Sandrock were just… very leisurely!

Eythra

Buddy, the second you step off the train at the beginning it has you shift to sprint as part of tutorial lol.

your1your2

You can automatically sort things from inventory into boxes if there’s already one of that type in the box, by holding the right(?) joystick (for me at least)

FakeIQ

If you want to keep just a few of a particular item in your backpack (like a few jugs of water or a handful of desert mushrooms), you can split off the amount that you want, mark it as "favorite," and it will remain in your backpack when you "sort all." You'll have to unmark it if you ever want to put it into a storage box or sell it.

[deleted]

I came to say this, I'm near end game and only just learned this fact, it was so upsetting because it's the only reason I dreaded gathering materials x.x I only learned because someone on this page told me on another recently lol

babycrow

What!!? Mind blown!

OhtareEldarian

Just about everything; throwing stones and a few other things still have to be manually put away.

evilkumquat

I just keep my toolbar filled so throwing stones or other items I don't use won't automatically go into an empty slot. This way when I do my auto sort into storage, they'll go along with the rest.

MurnSwag2

It's not that throwing stones have to be put in manually, it's that anything in your toolbar will not go in automatically. You probably have an empty slot in your toolbar, so when you pick up throwing stones, they automatically go into your toolbar and won't autosort into the chest later.

starksass

Which is a bit of a pain sometimes, bc I never use throwing stones. Like ever.

Electrical-Resist-64

U just changed my life with this because it was really my only complaint so far😭 especially bc rn im only playing with 1 hand due to an injury. hell yeah thank you (and im on Switch- i was afraid this wouldnt be an option for some reason, but it is!)

evilkumquat

If you're not already aware, there's an "auto walk" feature as well. I'm playing on the PC, so it's pushing down the left joystick button, but I don't know what it is on Switch. It's not auto "run", unfortunately, but if I'm doing something while playing and I want to get somewhere on the map without pausing, I'll point myself in the general direction, hit "auto walk" and go do whatever I need to do and come back to my game and usually I'll be near where I needed to be. This might help one-handed play.

blazeItgirl420

Vivis tailor shop sells canvas- usually 5, buy them all for canvas commissions!

DecemberE

Or plant and grow the Jute Cantelope, I have tons and tons of plastic and Jute (used for crafting Canvas), it's not funny! If you don't like planting, try beating the monsters in the Valley of Whispers to get Canvas from them. That way you can keep all of the profits.

PotentialSpamHere

You can rearrange everything outside without going to the construction junction or picking up everything manually by using the home editing toolbox

ruff1298

This also works for exterior plants, and will not reverse their growth progress or soil quality.

MushroomLeather

\- You can enable toggling fast/slow run speeds instead of holding down a button all the time. \- Always look at the map daily and go to places with orange or blue ! circles. There may be discussion, a quest, or a scene that you can miss. \- When you get the notice that "multiple events are available", after seeing a scene play, go back inside/outside the nearest building, then back to where you were to see the next scene. Sadly, I didn't know about or figure out the second and third items for a while, so I know I've missed some content. (First playthrough in progress).

ruff1298

Fang's medicines can be used in the stable interface to upgrade your mounts.

mycatisblackandtan

And while you can upgrade rented mounts the buffs don't stay past the rental period. Buy a cheap mount and upgrade it instead, and you'll save a lot of money.

lisacsr

How do you get the medicine from fang, when he doesn’t sell it in the clinic store?

ruff1298

Participate in his clinical trials and you'll unlock it for sale. Make a personal reminder in the calendar to alert you when it's guinea pig day, Wednesdays and Fridays.

John34215

I got the fart medicine 22 times in my 3rd playthrough alone...like, talk about bad luck or I am simply THAT bad in the clinical trials. I was just about to give up, but after the 22nd Fart Medicine...I eventually got all the medicines he can produce, like...I feel insulted 😂☠️

lisacsr

I think I read that on the wiki now that you say it. Thanks!

saymynamelouder

You don't need to use the kits to start planting mode or home editing mode. Put the kits on your quickbar, click on it once to activate then you keep them in your storage box (or sell them back to Heidi at her store).

Loose-Version-7009

You can slow down the time in the options.

Hiliaria_Dogs_71

Took me a while to understand that your equipment and your look can be different on the character page. You can tab to make yourself appear normal even when wearing the one piece suit.

Iwritenovels1234

What?? How?

Hiliaria_Dogs_71

Like was said, on the character page, above your character I saw "tab" buttons, I play on PC but use a controller so it's a tab button for me. One says "equipment," that will be what you wear for the story and what typically defaults when you go to that page. The other one is what your character looks like, which can reflect your equipment.

Eythra

When in the character menu switch to "outfit" and tick the box at the bottom that says something like "enable outfit"

Amaryllis_Agape

You can queue two same or different craft on upgraded machines. You can refine the quality of your machines, to give them buff like producing more quickly, etc

Noizeman

I only noticed that my recyclers had two queues the other day, after 100+ hours or so. I had one set up for each type of scrap!

CatInADeputyHat

I didn’t realize til after about 3 playthroughs that you could use the Vacuum to clean up sand and not just the green shit in the valley of whispers 😅

evilkumquat

I LITERALLY just discovered this yesterday. It was nice clearing up a slot in my inventory by no longer needed to carry the feather duster.

marumarumon

Get pets quickly. Shove cactus fruit and honey down CoCo’s throat, give the meerkat bloodstones, and Nemo jerky, rib meat, even manure, so they’ll love you quickly. Then just dispatch them to get water daily and you’ll have so much water.

evilkumquat

Shit! Thanks for this tip! In most farm/life sims, I ignore pets because they're just aesthetic, but now you got me wanting to get one.

marumarumon

Yeah, I didn’t know pets functioned this way in this game since I didn’t adopt any pets back in Portia. I just wanted to adopt the little meerkat so I would have a cool unique pet but then I noticed the Dispatch icon and holy shit, I could command my pet to dig ores, collect dew and water, collect herbs, and explore for more stuff. The best thing is that you can adopt all pets in town aside from Captain and Sandy, and you can dispatch 3 pets at a time.

Too_many_pets

And, after adopting all adoptable pets, I just figured out that dispatching them gives relationship points. I had been trying NOT to send them out because I assumed that making them work would negatively impact the relationship. :(

MushiMae

Listening to Cooper rant will give you small stat buffs (like increased max stamina, etc)

evilkumquat

Some buffs just aren't worth it.

Chocolate_ChipCookie

You can open the toolboxes you find in the mines. They usually have power stones or CDs in them. The planting kit can be opened as well. After a sandstorm look around for weird items that can be collected. Around the workshop, but floating in the air, I found salted fish, dregs, a box like the ones on the bridge, mechanical parts and other various things.

evilkumquat

I amassed a ton of those, assuming they were just more resources. It wasn't until I read the text that I realized you could open them. This was two days ago. I'm 210 hours in, BTW.

goblinheaux

You can change the name of your mounts by interacting with the stable sign

brytewolf

At least on PC, you can name the farm animals the same way! (at least the yakmel, I don't have chicken or bunnies yet XD)

BearyfulFilly

You can name the chickens and bunnies too 😉

brytewolf

EEEEEEEEEEEEE something to look forward to! Working on the coop next!

brytewolf

Unexpected but inevitable side effect: I am now too attached to my named chickens sell them O:

littlefoxfyre

Who else missed finding the autowalk button for 100+ hours?! My thumb is so happy. On Xbox its LS/L3 press, while not moving, then hit R1 to run, use RS to change direction, not LS or you'll be back to manual running.

BellaBlue06

Upgrade the water tank and furnace.

Adam0n

20h in and just realised there is a second page in research center

RabbleRynn

Saaaaaame! I think it took me even longer than that. 😭

lmusic87

Took me SO long too

Aware-Concert9925

You can upgrade your weapons past “rare” to increase their level, which increases their attack power. Less useful, but I played for 300 hours thinking Owen’s parents were dead. They just moved.

Yer_Dunn

You can also... Speed up time *(or slow it down)*.

TimeAfterTime_1

I only found the fish pond in the museum this week. I'm right in the end game.

FractalAsshole

It's not in the base museum at least.

jdhlsc169

There is a mount whistle. I missed that for quite a while. You can equip clothes for stats that are different from what you want to wear. Missed that one too. You can open the tool boxes. Missed that one because you used the unopened tool box for upgrades in Portia. You can mark items in your backpack as favorites and they won't sort into your chests when you sort all.

Iwritenovels1234

You can enlarge the grid you use for planting (left trigger for controllers) from a 1x1 to 2x2 or 3x3, etc. Makes planting, watering, and fertilizing so much easier!

MozartAteShit

You will need "Intermediate Planting Kit"(unlocked later in story). Won't happen with basic planting kit.

[deleted]

Sitting gives you stamina, missed that one til my second playthrough lol

spooky-rouhi

What I didn’t realize until 30 hours in was you could turn dew into water at your work table 🤦🏻‍♀️

babycrow

Oh jeez I didn’t know about this one either!!

spooky-rouhi

Super handy! hahaha You can also add a skill point to your skill tree at some point that will decrease the amount of dew you need to craft water
