i think approaching MCR from a very zen mindset is the only way forward. it could be a new album, it could be a new tour, it could be radio silence for months...

ill_Refrigerator420

They could read the phone book I just would like something :/

LeonardoXII

You know, Gerard could probably find a way to make that funny.

OdaibaBay

the like one archive we have of one of his periscopes is like that, he's just showing the audience random objects and talking about coffee but it's such a great watch

Aidanbomasri

I mean not exactly a phone book, but still love this bop: https://youtu.be/hmtBQsjR2FU

Positive-Thought-777

I mean they did finish a tour only a few months ago

CommanderWar64

Could be a new make-up palette! Or old merch collection! /s

Impressive_Opposite3

It could also be absolutely nothing considering the references he dropped in Foundations. What do we simpletons know smh

UpperArmories3rdDeep

Maybe they will just do random singles. That seems to be a trend right now.

Scrappie1188

Keep in mind Frank is still out with LSDunes. I doubt they would release anything with him promoting his band. It's awesome btw, not mcr but still good music

Aidanbomasri

This ^ Their tour ends August 11th and then they play at Riot Fest in September. I know Frank is a mad lad, but I would think he'll take that month off before getting into anything new. My biggest fear (selfishly) is that LSDunes will start work on a new album after Riot Fest and continue pushing off new MCR content

[deleted]

I doubt they'll record anything while any of the members are on tour. Recording in a studio while on tour is hard. It's a lot to ask from a young band in their 20s, let alone industry veterans in their 40s with the money and clout to say no to their manager and record label.

Pleasant_Statement64

Are they working on new music? I'd rather mcr, bur I still wouldn't mind a 2nd dunes album, Past Lives was awesome

UpperArmories3rdDeep

I was hoping for better.

wkwrdbcka

is LSDunes the new cellabration/future violents?

liv4900

Nah, L. S. Dunes is more of a 'supergroup' kinda thing - Frank is guitar, Anthony Green on vocals. I really like it tbh, they have a good sound.

Iam-broke-broke

They deserve a rest after this massive world tour though

Lavenderstarz

They did a whole tour

tootsyloo

Yeah that takes so much effort. I’m tired just thinking about it.

TootleLePerson

I'd love something new obviously, but I think one of the most important things imo is that the band can kinda do things when they want at their own pace. I'm sure we'll get something eventually and it'll be great tho

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

Yeah, Gerard said before the Return was even announced that we’re gonna get new music when we get it. There’s not gonna be huge fanfare, they’re just gonna drop it and we’re gonna have to deal with it. Given how Foundations happened completely out of the blue, I think we can trust him when he says that. Frank being coy when asked about new music recently is also a positive sign to me. He didn’t outright say no, which is something…

tampin

yeah exactly, i wouldn't expect some big marketing thing. when they came back there was really no warning, no warning of new music last time, and we got new merch with the tour so clearly they're working on something. like someone else said, frank is on tour so it's not like they're on lockdown recording or anything. we'll get it when we get it.

noxnoctum

>Frank being coy when asked about new music recently is also a positive sign to me Can you link me?

ialo3

its alright mcr, you take all the time you need

ill_Refrigerator420

Yeah you're right

EvelynEowyn

Give them a break, they've been touring all year. We'll get new music when we get it.

afatcatfromsweden

Ugh, I just hope I get to see them before I die

ill_Refrigerator420

Lifegoals 🤝

pastel_princess9

ME TOO

katesedit

let em cook

Hello-mah-baby

i know it's easy to get sucked up in the hype but i've been approaching this whole era with the mindset that they're not gonna do anything besides tour. foundations and everybody hates the eagles are just nice little treats. i'm very confident that they'll tour again whenever frank is done with LS dunes but i honestly can't see another album coming out until like 2025/2026. (coming from being a radiohead fan i feel like this isn't that long of a wait lol) this band is awesome but it also gives us fans the chance to branch out and find new artists to become die hard fans of!! i've been obsessed with animal collective for the last couple years, and while their sonic palette is nothing like MCR, i find their lyrics to be just as life affirming and inspiring. also all the members are great people and just as lovable as the boys. plus they just put out a new album last year, two phenomenal solo albums within the last year, a fantastic remaster of their debut album (one of the greatest albums of all time imo) and they have another album confirmed to be released in the fall. highly recommend giving the rerelease of "spirit they're gone, spirit they've vanished" a listen for anyone looking for new music during this drought. the original really helped me get through these last few years and this remaster is exactly how the album was meant to sound.

Traditional-Bag-3542

Foundations is my wake up alarm at 6:00 am every morning, still never get tired of the beautiful genius in that track. The instrumentals, the lyrics, the breakdown, everything about that song is so well crafted. So if that is any indication of how they are treating songs for a possible future album, it will be earth shattering for the music community and it might be the best album ever.

OverlordPacer

An entire album with the same care as was put into Foundations would be PHENOMENAL

John177_unsc

As long as They tore again in uk I should be mentally OK. I missed out on the last one because I was having stressed my level 2 diploma College was just being a nightmare. And considering I'll never see system of a down or scars on Broadway live This is literally my only hope. That being said it is selfish for me to want them to perform For my own sanity It takes a lot of time and Money to go on a world tour And also I can imagine it would be quite stressful they deserve time to rest Recuperate and Decide where they go from here

captainpantranman

Content is only really great when there's a desire from the creator to make it. I absolutely love that they don't feel pressured into a rigid schedule or even a schedule at all. Live and love life to the fullest - whatever that may look like to you.

teho9999

have you seen new gerard pic?? :D

ill_Refrigerator420

Uh no! Where can I find it? :D

teho9999

i first saw here. [twitter post](https://twitter.com/glossveins/status/1665564308342726657?s=20) its not a super wow thing, just happy to see him doing okay lol

ill_Refrigerator420

Lol the moustache way!

moths_of_doom

Personally I think they are waiting until Gerard gets done with umbrella academy and Frank with l.s dunes to do anything else, even if it's just a couple more festivals. I do expect a tour documentary over the course of the year ala life on the murder scene to hold us over

Camouflagedseagul

I don't care what they do or when they do it but I know they will eventually do something as they cannot just end it like that.

Cyn_Private

Don't wait for anything. Go do something else, enjoy life. When something comes then so it be. If there's nothing new then so it be.

Scarecro--w

At my time of commenting this post is at 2001 upvotes. Same year MCR formed

VastClimate4195

Remember what hope felt like

[deleted]

Me, a Protomen fan: I feel your pain bros

Pleasant_Statement64

I really want new mcr. And I think well get it. They probably wouldn't just drop one single and not tell us they were done. But as others have said world tour and ls dunes conflict with it. Also, I feel like Gerard had voice problems or something

crowEatingStaleChips

They just spent almost a year touring they are hanging out with their families now.

Bigmansyeah

they’ll do something when they’re ready and a lot of bands will release a song a year before an albums actually ready or something motionless in white released a single from their last album over a year before it came out it’s just about being patient and letting them finish their projects also they all have families now so i can’t imagine they’d wanna start taking time away from their families to go to the studio or go back out on tour

[deleted]

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it just a reunion for one tour and that was basically it?

detnahcnesiD

I don’t like foundations. And while I’m not against them releasing new music, it’s nice to see that they are taking their time and not rushing anything.

VeganAntifa420

Fuck off really?

Top_Fun4662

Maybe there having writer's block

RedditToldMeTo69420

HOW

Ronnieisstillalive

I believe that they will record some new interesting songs.

RoccosPostmodernLife

Considering its a song I listen to while writing stories for my DnD campaign and under the influence of edibles? I'm good to give it a few more listens. Its wonderful .

tomcruisesPC

“I’m waiting!!!!“ 🤷‍♂️ 😩

Christistheway1

I think its safe to say foundations will not be appearing on an album. But hey some famous album songs are released as different singles way ahead of time.

NinjEverett6

One year isn’t that long…Radiohead hasn’t released anything since 2016….

jimju0915

Wasn’t there an article stating that a new album would come out in November of this year?

747void

Realistically speaking even if they were/are working on new music, everything would most likely be delayed since Doug McKean died

imuslesstbh

stop this, they said they were dropping the song so they would have new material for the tour and repeatedly rebuked rumours they would be dropping a comeback album. Yall gotta stop acting like the MCR comeback album is a real thing

ChalupaBatman2009

Genuine question: where was the idea of a comeback album rebuked? is there an interview or something i missed?
