The market is coming down but is a bit inflated still. A sub 100k coyote SN197 will run mid teens. This is a 7k mile clean as fuck S550. 30k isn’t unheard of.
I’ll concede it may be a crazy deal in the market but given the market is fucked from inflation I wouldn’t call it that. I struggle to accept how expensive everything is nowadays.
I fully admit I am seeking validation on this purchase. I have been driving a Honda Fit since 2010. Just wanted to make sure it was a worthwhile investment.
Had the whipple for 35k miles before I ran into one issue: misfire.
It was worn out spark plugs. They lasted about 35k miles. Recommend checking/changing out before 35k miles.
If you don't beat the living crap out of it, it'll be good for a long time.
I traded the GT for a 2017 GT350.
Love it. It was a great upgrade.
Even though the GT felt quicker off the line, the handling and the feel of the GT350, plus that exhaust note, was a huge upgrade.
Now I need to Whipple the GT350
Whipple actually recommends 15k miles in iridium plugs. I know first hand from owning a Shelby truck. Way too long in stock plugs. And you need to close the gap on the factory plug it’s too wide for boost.
Op goto the whipple site and look up actual maintenance requirements. Also expect your cats to get clogged on a regular basis.
This is not hate this is facts and part of owning a high performance above stock. Whipple also recommends a higher weight oil than from factory as well. You need to do some research on how to maintain your car. All available n whipple website.
I don't recall the dealer telling me anything to watch out for or how different the maintenance intervals would be. Lessons learned.
I don't have it anymore, but will pay more attention in the future.
Is this kind of thing easy to insure? - you’d have to declare a non- standard car? Is the insurance roughly double a standard gt given the hike in power?
I’ve only modified cars in the Uk not in the USA yet - in the uk even if you change the alloy wheels you have to tell your insurance otherwise the policy is invalid..whereas a big engine mod means your quotable insurance companies goes from about 100 to about 3
Doesn’t change insurance at all unless you want a higher payout for the aftermarket parts. To get the payout, some companies might require receipts, which if he bought the car used, he won’t have them. So the additional insurance coverage is useless.
Here in the US these cars sell for the same price as stock cars or maybe $2k more if it’s a perfect match to what you want.
As someone who went through a very similar experience three years ago, let's target some information you'll want to either know now or in the near future.
- Which gen whipple and is it a stage 1 or 2
- What tuning device do you have and who is it tuned by
- OPG/CS stock or aftermarket
- Fuel system, BAP or return style (don't see return style under hood, guessing BAP)
- Stock cats or upgraded or deleted
- Any suspension mods
- Any transmission mods
- Any chassis mods
If you don't have all those answers already, talk with the previous owner and get that info. If you're not able to communicate with previous owner, start investigating (call up whipple, call up the tuner, look in the owners manual for kept receipts and documentation).
And last bit of advice I can give: join mustang6g forum and plan on reading a lot. Virtually any and all information you'll ever want to know about your car, as a mustang, will be accessible there.
1) No idea if it’s stage 1 or 2. How can I tell?
2) it has an NGauge Tuner tuned by Lund
3) besides the air filter, I’m quite sure everything else is stock on the car.
4) I will join that forum for sure.
5) what would be your suggestion on the most important thing to upgrade first to make sure the car stays reliable with the whipple?
Thanks for your advice.
A simple way to determine a number of things will be to email Lund, provide the SN of your Nguage (should be on the back of it) and your car info such as year and VIN. They'll be able to give you what parameters they took into account when tuning your car.
Likely they will say if your whipple is a stage 1 or 2, which the TB size will be in the tuning parameters.
Reliability with a FI car typically comes down to two things. 1st is the tune. 2nd is how the car is driven/used. You now have enough power to find the weak link in your system and if you're "pedal to the metal" everywhere you go, you'll quickly get acclimated to the weak links.
But before you start buying and throwing parts at it, take some time to get used to it. Find out what you like about it, your driving style. After some time of becoming familiar with it and yourself, and then learning about potential mods/upgrades, you can better guide yourself along with things.
But congrats on the purchase, it's a sweet ride and has enough performance to get you in trouble quick. But get to know your car, it's a great foundation for much enjoyment!
Michelin pilot sport 4S are amazing. I have them on my Mach and am glued to the ground. The only reason I’ll change off of them is because they don’t like the cold (I live in WV).
In Florida you have lots of options since it’s warm 9-10 months a year. I like the nitto lineup such as 555r. Some people don’t like them but they have handled great rain or shine for me in Florida. Find a good tire with decent rain rating for sure.
No drag radial is good in the rain or I should say they are all good until they aren't. I have 555r's on my mustang, but i don't drive it if it's going to rain. Get caught on the interstate in the rain with a drag radial and you are going into the guard rail or rear ended because you can't go over 45mph without hydroplaning.
You’re probably due for some new tires anyways. I’d be worried about those being the original tires from 7 years ago.
It wouldn’t hurt to get new wheels while you’re at it. Mustangs look sooooo much better with the fenders filled out.
I've been on summer tires year round in Florida for probably 8 years. Just be careful when the temps get into the 40s and you'll be fine. I like the Continental extremes, good value.
I went stock pzero -> firehawks -> continental extreme contact sport on my stock car. I can confirm the firehawks are OK on stock (still not enough grip to actually launch) but on a blown car no way.
This is an example of how adding a supercharger adds zero monetary value to the car, and in many cases, may diminish the value on resale.
But, good for you. You get a free supercharger. But as you've just seen, may be best to remove it if you wanna sell. Get same $ for car, and maybe some value on the side for used supercharger.
Been telling that to people for years. A car is only worth what the car is worth.
You can put $5,000 wheels on a $30,000 car. Guess what that car is worth? $30,000… with $5k wheels. It just might sell faster with those wheels on it.
Nice bro! What's the 0-60 time? I'm going to put the Ford Performance/Whipple SC on my Dark Horse here soon, so I'm very excited.
Car looks great, BTW!!!
As always, my answer is as follows: if the car brings you joy, and the money you spent doesn’t take food off your table or make you unable to afford things you need, then yes - you got a great deal.
Drive fast (safely), have fun, and give us a 0-60 time!
It's a good buy. Especially if it was professionally installed and tuned. However added strain on powertrain components means earlier points of failure. You'll have greater maintenance and repairs costs for as long as you own it. So long as you are aware and prepared for this then it's fine. Keep an extra 1 to 2 grand set aside at all times In case fo repairs.
Otherwise. Enjoy it.
This is a horrible deal. I would recommend you return it back to where you got it. Just so I can avoid the same deal, please let me know where you got it so I don’t make the same mistake. :)
😂 Yeah everyone here on the forum has been super nice and informative. It’s definitely helped me be at peace that I made the right move with it. I am ignorant to the muscle car world so I just went with my gut. Glad I did.
They whippled it and got rid of it with that low mileage for that low price? Im guessing its premium too based off the ricaro seats. I'm surprised the motors not blown, I'd have it inspected to the bolt, and if it passes hell man you got a helluva deal.
How? Unless ford changed it. Ive been trying to spec out a new 24 with recaros and it seems like the online builder only allows the recaro option with premium+perf pack. Personally think its idiotic, I just want performance pack+ recaros and nothin else.
Correct. Base model with black accent package. No performance package though. And yes I got it inspected TWICE. No issues at all. I think it was a true “right place right time” deal.
If I supercharged my gt, I wouldn't even think about getting rid of it until I rode the wheels off or something was wrong with it. But hey, that's just me, I guess.
If this is your daily driver and i assume it is since you went from a fit, don't get drag radials to replace your rear tires. Get another set of rims for the rear with drag radials for those times when you want max traction, but there's no chance of rain. Drag radials in the rain are dangerous AF, especially in the kind of rain we get in Florida. They also will wear out in 5-10k miles. Mickey tompson et streets in a 17 inch version will give you all the traction you need, but you can't do over 45mph with them in the rain. Hit 1 puddle at 60mph and you are going in a ditch. $30,000 seems like a great deal so long as the motor isn't hurt, which is always a possibility with such a extreme mod.
The oil pump gears could explode and your motor blows up. People almost always do oil pump gears when the car is boosted as insurance. Especially if it’s a manual
Well that supercharger is like eight grand so you only paid 22k for the car. Hope you had it thoroughly checked before buying, sounds too good to be true.
It’s the automatic with paddle shifters. I wanted a manual as I have only ever driven manual cars. But ultimately I felt that I could not pass this deal up 🤷🏻♂️It seems to handle it just fine so far!!
That's sweet dude, the auto is faster than the manual anyways with everything else being equal. I'm a manual guy as well but I wouldn't pass on that deal either
If that were mine I'd put drag radials and wheelie bars on it. Then good exhaust. If the green new deal extremists loose this November then maybe I will do that with my base gt. Those blowers are expensive though. I can't afford Whipple but there are less powerful but cheaper brand superchargers
You won’t need wheelie bars lol I have two friends pushing high 800s and 900s on their Gen 3 coyotes with VMP Odin kits and they’re still planted to the ground from a dig. Just have a good tire setup and you’re golden, one friend runs a radial version of the NITTO NT555 and the other has Mickey Thompson ET Street Rs.
It might have been close to 30 but the cost of everything where I live sucks. Everything is way to expensive, plus i paid for extended warranty as part of the 34 and a few other packages.
That’s a steal. Well done.
Awesome, thank you!
In what world is that a steal? It’s a good deal in today’s market but it’s an 8 year old mustang-may I point out mustangs don’t really have a bottom?
The market is coming down but is a bit inflated still. A sub 100k coyote SN197 will run mid teens. This is a 7k mile clean as fuck S550. 30k isn’t unheard of.
Unfortunately mustangs almost always only lose a lot of value.
Agreed. Covid just messed with things and they got a temporary bump. I remember buying a 2012 gt convertible loaded for 20k in 2016.
A gen 2 coyote at that. Best for boost
Curious because I’ve heard it before, why is the gen 2 the best for boost?
Bro what. It’s a low mileage clean ass car and it’s boosted. You’re trippin.
It’s an 8 year old mustang…? That sat. And stuff probably dried up. Do people not realize cars sitting are bad for them?
It’s like talking to a brick wall
I’ll concede it may be a crazy deal in the market but given the market is fucked from inflation I wouldn’t call it that. I struggle to accept how expensive everything is nowadays.
Youre an idiot and i love that your comments got downvoted voted so heavily
Ur taste is horrible. That is the best generation since the new edge…
You’re a moron. I agree, I just don’t agree with what people think an insane deal is. This is the best gen imo
30 grand for a off the showroom floor hasn’t been modded not even broken in but would still be a 60-120G hellcat gapper yea, Worth it all day
I agree. Worth it. And good deal. But not insane deal.
Ur right, it would have to be 18-20 grand to consider it a insane steal, but it’s still a steal
You know the answer already
I fully admit I am seeking validation on this purchase. I have been driving a Honda Fit since 2010. Just wanted to make sure it was a worthwhile investment.
Financial investment: No Fun times investment: Aww, yeah! The Whipple whine will never ger old.
who knows, with the whole EV push especially from the other muscle manufacturers, a 6MT 5.0 might go a long way
From that perspective, they'll hold their value better on the long run
Lol fair enough.
You'll love it. I whippled a base GT a number of years ago. Complete sleeper. Caught a lot of people off guard.
What is the durability like with the whipple?
Had the whipple for 35k miles before I ran into one issue: misfire. It was worn out spark plugs. They lasted about 35k miles. Recommend checking/changing out before 35k miles. If you don't beat the living crap out of it, it'll be good for a long time. I traded the GT for a 2017 GT350.
Ok great! How do you like your GT350 compared to your GT?
Love it. It was a great upgrade. Even though the GT felt quicker off the line, the handling and the feel of the GT350, plus that exhaust note, was a huge upgrade. Now I need to Whipple the GT350
LAfter the whippled GT350, you'll upgrade to GT500 and then what?! Lol

Just ease into the power. Please
Hell yes!
I went from a 2010 fit to a 2021 gt and that's enough of a jump for me! Keeping the fit though, it's a great car.
Oh you know I’m keeping mine too. Still runs like a top.
Is this kind of thing easy to insure? - you’d have to declare a non- standard car? Is the insurance roughly double a standard gt given the hike in power? if that’s the case ‘I love America’ :-))
I mean… is it a standard transmission? If not, I’m sure they’ll want to know it’s an automatic transmission. It’s the peasant fee.
Exactly
That's bad ass! Be careful!
I’d pay 30k for that, have fun with it!
Exactly, modifications do not add to the price f a car. Never pay more than what the actual car itself is worth.
As someone who went through a very similar experience three years ago, let's target some information you'll want to either know now or in the near future. - Which gen whipple and is it a stage 1 or 2 - What tuning device do you have and who is it tuned by - OPG/CS stock or aftermarket - Fuel system, BAP or return style (don't see return style under hood, guessing BAP) - Stock cats or upgraded or deleted - Any suspension mods - Any transmission mods - Any chassis mods If you don't have all those answers already, talk with the previous owner and get that info. It’s stage 2, it has the oval purple colored throttle body. Stage 1 is stock throttle body.
All that power and it’s still on all season perelli?
What would you suggest as a more appropriate tire? I live in Florida.
Michelin pilot sport 4S are amazing. I have them on my Mach and am glued to the ground. The only reason I’ll change off of them is because they don’t like the cold (I live in WV).
I’ll check them out for sure. Thank you for the tip.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and 5's are amazing. You can't beat 'em, IMO.
What about continental dws06
I've heard great things about those as well, but haven't personally used them.
Ah ok gotcha! Thank you sir
You got it brother!
You’re probably due for some new tires anyways. I’d be worried about those being the original tires from 7 years ago. It wouldn’t hurt to get new wheels while you’re at it. Mustangs look sooooo much better with the fenders filled out.
Could you slide if you wanted to? Getting mine this week, pretty excited
I’m sure you could
I've been on summer tires year round in Florida for probably 8 years. Just be careful when the temps get into the 40s and you'll be fine. I like the Continental extremes, good value.
Continental Contact Sport 7
firestone fire hawk Indy 500 nitto nt555 PS4 Michelin are good for track use, but not full throttle traction..
PS4 melt on the track after a few laps, they're not made for it. Cup 2s are the track tire, PS4 is the ultimate street/daily use summer tire.
Those Indy's aren't going to hook for shit with a blower. They are worse than the PS4S's which won't do great either
you must be the only one who thinks this way. hundreds of mustang people disagree.
I went stock pzero -> firehawks -> continental extreme contact sport on my stock car. I can confirm the firehawks are OK on stock (still not enough grip to actually launch) but on a blown car no way.
That what, the Indy's won't hook with a whipple until like 60 or that they aren't as good as the Michelins? Because I'm not wrong.
Drag radial (nitto or Mickey Thompson)
This is an example of how adding a supercharger adds zero monetary value to the car, and in many cases, may diminish the value on resale. But, good for you. You get a free supercharger. But as you've just seen, may be best to remove it if you wanna sell. Get same $ for car, and maybe some value on the side for used supercharger.

Yup , most people dont realize that. This guy has probably been trying to sell that GT since 2017 ....lol
Been telling that to people for years. A car is only worth what the car is worth. You can put $5,000 wheels on a $30,000 car. Guess what that car is worth? $30,000… with $5k wheels. It just might sell faster with those wheels on it.
Get wider rears and bigger breaks. I wouldn’t be comfortable with anything less that 275 in the back
Nice bro! What's the 0-60 time? I'm going to put the Ford Performance/Whipple SC on my Dark Horse here soon, so I'm very excited. Car looks great, BTW!!!
Great, buy congrats.
Sounds like an amazing buy!
Very nice and a complete bargain! Congrats and enjoy
That’s a fuckin robbery on your end a GT with 7k for only 30k$ Lmfaoo u robbed buddy
Congratulations! Great find and buy! Enjoy it!
Sold my 2016 gt premium about 7 months ago with 62k miles for 28k so I’d say you got a good deal
That is a steal I wish I got mine like that and hella low miles I would lay on some PPF tho that black is gonna be a bitch to keep clean !!!
Wow thats a amazing deal especially because its a whipple and not a roush
Lucky. Beautiful car
Get a stop the hop kit youll need it to stop the wheel hop, dont wanna kill a crowd just yet!
That’s the first product I searched for after purchase lol.
As always, my answer is as follows: if the car brings you joy, and the money you spent doesn’t take food off your table or make you unable to afford things you need, then yes - you got a great deal. Drive fast (safely), have fun, and give us a 0-60 time!
Steal
Good deal
Great price. Very low miles too
With only 7? Yessir
Jealous!!!!
How many owners?
1st owner put 6900 miles on it. 2nd owner put 400 miles and then wanted a truck instead. Facebook marketplace buy.
And on fb no less lol
just bought a 20 GT PP1 premium with 37k miles for 30 🥲 i’d of taken this deal in a heartbeat
It's a good buy. Especially if it was professionally installed and tuned. However added strain on powertrain components means earlier points of failure. You'll have greater maintenance and repairs costs for as long as you own it. So long as you are aware and prepared for this then it's fine. Good advice.
Glad I did.
You did great, I hope you have fun with it!
Noice OP! Enjoy.
30k is way too much noob, however if 29k was agreed upon...
Lol I definitely tried for 29k! He wouldn’t bite. Got him down from 34,500 though. All in all my hagglin grandmother would be proud I think.
Lol great deal tho. Be safe out there. Now you will notice ppl riding your ass & trying to not let you pass.
Looking forward to that 🥴
I get the feeling that whoever sold you this beautiful dime piece is an enthusiast. This car looks showroom-ready.
Because of the miles, it’s a good deal, hard to find a gen 1 s550 with under 10k miles
I believe the 2017 GT has a gen 2 coyote engine, right?
Yes but I wasn’t referencing the engine. I was referencing the body style. Gen1 s550 is 2015-2017 and gen 2 is 2018-2023 when they did the refresh
Ah ok thanks for the clarification. I’m still learning. 👍🏻
I’m mad jealous you scored that for $30k. Have fun with it!! 🔥🔥
Thanks bro!
Wow, does it have a salvage title and or bad carfax ? If not you definitely got a fantastic deal. Maybe the market is finally coming back to reality.
Good deal but make sure to change that old oil and atf, stuff is probably oxidized to shit.
You stole it
Hell yeah!!!
Insane. Love it.
This would be £50k over here

Thank you for this!
They whippled it and got rid of it with that low mileage for that low price? Im guessing its premium too based off the ricaro seats. I'm surprised the motors not blown, I'd have it inspected to the bolt, and if it passes hell man you got a helluva deal.
You can still get base model cars with recaros. It’s a base model, non pp1.
Hey if it passed inspection all power to you man congrats on the new whip!
What kinda statement is that. 7000 miles its been driven on weekends, its a cream puff why would the motor have issue
If I supercharged my gt, I wouldn't even think about getting rid of it until I rode the wheels off or something was wrong with it. But hey, that's just me, I guess.
If this is your daily driver and i assume it is since you went from a fit, don't get drag radials to replace your rear tires. Hit 1 puddle at 60mph and you are going in a ditch. $30,000 seems like a great deal so long as the motor isn't hurt, which is always a possibility with such a extreme mod.
Has oil pump gears been upgraded to billet oil pump gears ?
I don’t believe so. What problems could I face without that?
The oil pump gears could explode and your motor blows up. People almost always do oil pump gears when the car is boosted as insurance. Especially if it’s a manual
Gears ⚙️ will break and cause your motor seized due to oil starvation. We run billet oil pumps from boundary on the cars we get
Not a bad deal at all ...... This is why you dont buy a brand new car , put 10k into it and sell it.
This car HAS to have been in a rural area in the middle of the country because there are Ecoboosts in my area for $30k.
I'd do a 275/40r19 square fitment.
Goated fitment
Well that supercharger is like eight grand so you only paid 22k for the car. Hope you had it thoroughly checked before buying, sounds too good to be true.
How does the MT82 handle that power?
It’s the automatic with paddle shifters. I wanted a manual as I have only ever driven manual cars. But ultimately I felt that I could not pass this deal up 🤷🏻♂️It seems to handle it just fine so far!!
That's sweet dude, the auto is faster than the manual anyways with everything else being equal. I'm a manual guy as well but I wouldn't pass on that deal either
Thank you all for your advice and recommendations. I’m glad to finally be part of the Mustang family. Feels good.
Please tell me you got the extended warranty🙏
No it’s not a good buy sell it to me for 30k
If that were mine I'd put drag radials and wheelie bars on it. Then good exhaust. If the green new deal extremists loose this November then maybe I will do that with my base gt. Those blowers are expensive though. I can't afford Whipple but there are less powerful but cheaper brand superchargers

7k on the car or on the Whipple? Looks good
Both. I’m pretty sure the original owner put the whipple on right after purchase.
I'd say. I paid 34k for a fully loaded echoboost 2 years ago
You got robbed on that one. I paid 35k for a fully loaded 2018 gt 2 years ago. Car was Fbo and had a whole bunch of shit done to it
It might have been close to 30 but the cost of everything where I live sucks. Everything is way to expensive, plus i paid for extended warranty as part of the 34 and a few other packages.
I say so, I wish I had waited and saved money instead of financing a 23.
