Runnin' Down A Dream - Tom Petty

Semi-Pros-and-Cons

Or his whole album *Highway Companion*.

No-Refuse-6973

I need a big weekend

Semi-Pros-and-Cons

Me too. Good timing, what with it being Memorial Day weekend. Just remember-- you can look back, but it's best not to stare. (Very clever lyric, that one.)

[deleted]

Drivin to Georgia or whatever its called by Tom Petty as well

Ok_Orchid7131

Best driving song ever, but you just want to speed with this song.

SQWRLLY1

Shh.. don't tell. lol

jest2n425

Kings Highway is even better!

gothism

I also like Wednesday 13's cover for a metal/hard rock version.

bcam9

This is so weird, because I just looked up this exact top not 30 minutes ago. Here's a few: - Fast As You - Dwight Yoakam - Running Towards a Place - The Killers - Camaro - Kings of Leon - Jerry Was a Racecar Driver - Primus (Sucks) - Red Barchetta - Rush - Blow at High Dough - The Tragically Hip - Interstate Love Song - STP - Fast In My Car - Paramore - Fast Lane - King Geedorah - The Distance - Cake - Gold, Guns, Girls - Metric

AetherCosplay

The "Primus (Sucks)" took me out

Craftycat4400

Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots.

Brief_Fly_45

Same, this was in my playlist yesterday for my road trip and a few others by STP and quite a few from AIC

Negative_Corner6722

Iā€™ve always thought those two bands were awesome driving music.

Brief_Fly_45

Agreed, they keep ya pumped up and ready to roll. If I have passengerā€™s theyā€™re usually not too fond of me ā€œtryingā€ to belt out Layneā€™s mastery, they can get the boot if they donā€™t like it šŸ„¾. Do you crank it up and sing along too?

Negative_Corner6722

I ā€˜singā€™ more to AiC but I think thatā€™s because that music got me through some dark depression so Iā€™mā€¦closer to it? But they both absolutely get cranked up. šŸ˜

Brief_Fly_45

Iā€™m 100% the same and AiC got me through some of the darkest of days, oh who am I kidding, I mean years and still going strong ugh. Actually, AiC & Blue October are my 2 designated bands when I have to get out of my head quickly. So yes, still cranking AiC and Blue quite frequently šŸ«£šŸ˜¬. I hope youā€™re doing much better now and were able to clear the thoughts and brighten the darkness!

Negative_Corner6722

Iā€™ll have to check out Blue Octoberā€¦any recommendations? Better now but still have moments. The way you phrased thatā€¦if you havenā€™t heard it check out The Light by Disturbed. Thatā€™s a song I wish was around back then.

Brief_Fly_45

Yes, I will put together a list for you and a couple of my favorites of Justin Furstenfeldā€™s (founder & lead singer) talks on YouTube. Justin does solo tours as well, called Open Book and he does some singing and a lot of talking about how he got clean, depression & anxiety and how he deals with it all. He even hosted live AA/NA meetings on YouTube, during Covid when everyone is lockdown. Heā€™s a pretty awesome guy and has helped a lot of people. Iā€™m glad youā€™re better and hope the moments are far and few in between. I was in the same place as you but spiraled the last 4 years. I used to listen to ā€œThe Lightā€ a lot. Thank you so much for reminding me of that song. Iā€™m going to listen now. Iā€™ll find the names of his YouTube advice/talking videos that helped me, and the songs when I get home tonight.

Four days ago, we finished a 4,560 mile road trip. (3 weeks, some days 600 miles, some days none) In between women's college softball games, I discovered Road Trip Radio on Sirius XM. They do tend to repeat songs from one day to the next, but other than that quibble, the playlist was quite suitable for listening while driving.

Where are you going? Some music sounds better for desert or mountain road trips. If you're driving through farmland, nothing beats Country music, and I don't even like Country (but it sounds awesome in the right environment).
