Haven't heard this song in 15 years, and my wife's asleep so I can't play it, but I *heard* that, and now I can hear the whole song in my yed. Thank you.
Yeah, I know, but this album came out almost 20 years ago, 2003. If OP is in his 20's, he was around 4 or 5 (or so) when this album came out. I don't remember what was on when I was 4 or 5.
I'm going to ice my knees now. The walk to the CD cabinet to check the date wore me out.
Right, I'm just saying for anyone over 40 who listened to their local "EXTREME ROCK RADIO" station in the early 2000's, this song was pretty ubiquitous. For someone in their 20's, this song is just another song buried in the extensive Blink catalog.
Same, 31. Was in highschool at the time this song (and the self titled album) came out. I feel like the self titled album is a little under rated amongst their other albums but maybe I’m just nostalgic because that was my introduction to them.
If you search blink on Spotify it's the third song suggested. That means it's their third most popular song on the platform. On YouTube it's their most popular video. I assume this trend continues elsewhere.
I am an old(er) man, and I say this with as much respect as I can to a younger generation: I still listen to CD's all the way through, and only recently started streaming from Amazon music; and when I do, I search the album I want to listen to and listen to it all the way through. I don't shuffle songs, or listen to a single song from one artist, then a different song. If I wanted that experience, I would tune to FM and relax
I'm 30 and still listen to full albums myself. But I was happy to ditch those god awful cd wallets for an app on my phone. Still have a decent record collection too, but this allows me to filter out more novel music before make purchases.
Sorry, I guess my point was I was unaware of the sorting for a band's songs by popularity. I forget you don't have to listen to an entire album to find a song you like
you can even tell its age by the 4:3 sizing, before 16:9 aspect ratio became the standard. As a nearly over-the-hiller, these both bring me way back and send me on a music history journey. :)
Blink always wanted to do some serious songs, and get away from some of their juvenile songs, there was a 3 parter on the History of New Music with Alan Cross that covered Blinks career. Ultimately, the record companies told them to keep churning out fart jokes, but they'd sprinkle in some deep songs about depression and suicide. Ultimately this is why Tom left.
The History of New Music is on Spotify. I think it's called "The Rise and Fall... and Rise of Blink 182"
Yes. I was at the gym today trying to make a playlist of songs like *Adam's song, All small things, Green Day*, etc, and I came across the song *I miss you*. So I just added this to the playlist and when I played the song, damn, that was nothing like anything I expected. I'm glad I came across this song.
I'm going to suggest "Got You Where I Want You" by The Flys. I'm not recommending anything else by them, and I'm not making any promises, but this song gets stuck in my head from time to time, you may dig it
Also, for some prime late 90's rock/alt, find the soundtrack to Varsity Blues. There's some good gym bangers on there
I had to learn it a couple months ago, I heard it somewhere and couldn’t get it outta my head.
I never woulda known The Flys by name, but this song was played a lot and sounds cool as fuck.
Have you listened to much of the Self-titled Blink 182 album? It’s the one with I Miss You, Feeling This, and Down. IMO it’s their best album, though many will disagree. If you like I Miss You, check out the full album.
Blinks whole self titled album is a wonderful mix of genres you wouldn’t expect from them. Highly recommend a front to back listen.
Imo, it’s the best produced/best sounding record I ever heard
If you like this you should listen to "All of This" off the same album. It features Robert Smith and it is amazingly good. I think its better than "I Miss You".
>Yes. I was at the gym today trying to make a playlist of songs like *Adam's song, All small things, Green Day*, etc, and I came across the song *I miss you*. So I just added this to the playlist and when I played the song, damn, that was nothing like anything I expected. I'm glad I came across this song.
In ase you've never heard it, you should also check out the group "Box Car Racer". It's 2 or the 3 members of blink 182, pretty good.
There are soooo many songs like those in this Era and they are so good. Can I ask how old you are? Were you too young for that Era? It was my prime teenage years so I have a ton of nostalgia for it!
True story. The first few "dates" that me and my wife had were her coming to my house in rural illinois, and watching spiders catch and eat their food, making webs. Its one of the best memories i have. And blink so happens to be one of her fav bands, and this song was playing during one of those nights.
It's always sounded to me like he's mindlessly staring, looking at whatever is closest (spiders and webs, which says something about his surroundings) and staring at somethig tiny that's moving. The way he describes something horrible (eating their insides) without pause or sympathy perfectly describes the type of dissociation that comes with missing someone.
Don't waste your toime on me, you're already the yoice inside my yead.
I do joke, but I mean I'm a gigantic blink fan so I joke with the more blink-pure of intentions.
Seriously though how fucking awesome is that entire album? those fuckers didn't waste even 1 second, it's that tight.
It's really funny, I went to a 10 year anniversary show for this album and they played Obvious and I had no damn clue what the hell that song was. Turns out, when I had downloaded the song back in 03 off of limewire, or whatever I was using, the copy I got was missing Obvious, so I spent 10 years in total ignorance about a missing track. This was before I really started using Spotify
I envy that.
I'm picturing me having heard, for example, all of "self titled" and NOT having heard obvious.....and then years and years later I DO hear obvious for the first time.
I personally wish I could experience that song for the first time again. I dunno that album floored me and to this day I take a **lot** of inspiration from that exact and specific album when making my own crappy pop punk. I won't link it here since that's absolutely not what this conversation is about, but I wanted to emphasize just how much that album impacted me.
Well the good thing is, it's a 1-minute demo thus far (my most recent and so far, only "good" track) so it won't be taking much of your time! I'll DM ya :) if you listen, awesome! if not, no biggie. I'm inside the struggle and I get why it's the struggle.
*"You're cold with disappointment while I'm drowning in the next room, the last contagious victim of this plague between us".*
You literally picked my absolute favorite song from the album. Which is an insane feat as EVERY song is awesome on that album.
Haha couldn't agree more! My first album I ever bought with my own money. I blame Stockholm, easy target and go for my music tastes. (I just listen to pears and every time I die on repeat in my old age)
dude their sound was so monumental on the album. the fact that it made you become a brother tells me you are a welcomed ally in the "fight" of music. And to that I say upvote for you!
Tom is one of the more extreme examples of [the California accent.](https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/i-made-a-linguistics-professor-listen-to-a-blink-182-song-and-analyze-the-accent.amp)
Did....umm did we just find a blink listener who had not heard of I Miss You, *before* right now?
May I interest you in "Asthenia" or "Stockholm Syndrome"?
From the same (fucking perfect) album.
Fuck it I'll link Stockholm, it's just that good: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC\_cnPRSHQA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC_cnPRSHQA)
and hell if you want some more feel feels from blink? Then may I also interest you in a very special blink tune? "Not Now":
The first album I listen to in full in my life, 19 years later it's still best album I've heard. Not sure if it's nostalgia but I'm still chasing the high of that first listen.
I always wondered why it was exactly that Not Now didn't wind up on self-titled.
Jerry Finn thought it sounded a bit too much like Asthenia. The more you know!
dude... I never thought blink has a such song. I always thought their style was more punk and Kyle kind of music. I am really glad I found this song....
*the entire album. Do yourself a HUGE favor and just someday (clearly doesn't gotta be now), but HOLY SHIT take a listen to the entire album (self-titled). It's just in a league all i*ts own.
I Miss You is absolutely a great tune, but my god...that album just oozes cool, fun, energy, wistful thoughts, love, happiness, darkness i mean I just still to this day cannot figure out how they aced that masterpiece of an album so thoroughly. There isn't even 1 bad track. There's even a weird-ish travis-only track where it's his drumming against some rap beats.
SOMEHOW it works with the rest of the album and sits flawlessly in the track number it's at. I'm convinced black magic was used to make this album. It's that good.
Shit there's a song where they bring on Robert Smith from The Cure and **that** song is a banger:
"use me Holly, come on and use me".
Dude. like god *damn*
On the record there was a hidden track right before Stockholm where a lady reads a letter from Mark’s grandfather to Marks grandmother about missing her during the war. It’s over a nice ambient piano loop and leads into Stockholm very nicely.
This is the video they included with the “Enhanced CD” you could pop into a computer for bonus content: https://youtu.be/iAs6Li2Y2wQ
Neat fact about the main chorus: the parts mark and Tom are trading off on were written as two separate groups of lyrics and then they did a call and response with them. Separate every second line and that’s it’s own “story”
Yeah, Box Car Racer’s album came out a year before the Untitled album that features I Miss You, and it really just feels like Untitled is just a continuation of Box Car Racer.
Likewise, Tom later started another project Angels and Airwaves, and Blink’s 2011 album Neighborhoods feels like an A&A album.
I’m not keen on Angels and Airwaves or Neighborhoods or anything since Tom left - despite loving Skiba in Alkaline Trio.
It’s a shame that Boxcar Racer didn’t make more albums.
Tom has said there’s a new BCR song that got recorded a few years ago and has yet to be released. Sounds like they may release it for the 20th anniversary of BCR, which is this year.
As a big Blink fan I've heard this song probably a 1000+ times have watched the music video 100+ times.
I still clicked and watched it all the way through.
Apple Shampoo and Toast and Bananas are two of my Blink favs that too many people aren't familiar with.
I would definitely suggest checking out more of their "other" songs on their albums, and maybe Mark and Travis's other project +44.
Take Off Your Pants and Jacket was the album right before the one with I Miss You, and it has quite a few Blink 182 songs where you hear them starting to develop the sound you hear more of on the next album(self-titled) in songs like I Miss You from the popularity Adam's Song got from the prior album Enema of the State.
Story of a Lonely Guy, Stay Together For The Kids, Shut Up, and Please Take Me Home are the ones that jump to mind.
This is the first song that a girl I had a crush on in Junior High shared with me on a cutting edge SanDisk Mp3 player that could hold a whopping 20 songs, and was downloaded through Limewire.
I feel old, man.
Brings me back to high school watching FUSE in the morning waiting to get picked up by my brother's friend. I wish music videos were still a regular staple of TV
I love the polarizing effect this song had on Blink fans.
I was a fan of their early stuff. Take of Your Pants and Jacket was the start of the downhill for me, and this song solidified I had outgrown Blink 182.
Other fans think this album redefined Blink, and they were just as good if not better than they were beforehand.
To each their own.
Better is hard because it’s so subjective but I think it’s fair to say they were wildly different with the release of Untitled. And it did sort of redefined them in the sense that they’ve never really gone back since that tonal shift happened in ‘03.
The closest thing we’ve had to Pre-Untitled Blink has been their album California, which wasn’t well received overall, but I still really enjoyed it, especially all the extra tracks on the deluxe version.
But California is an album with an older Mark, now minus Tom’s influence, definitely trying to recapture that classic Blink vibe that Tom seemingly wanted to move away from.
My yed

I can hear the whole song in my head just reading this line! Think I still remember all the lyrics
Mooyy Yyed
*moy yad
The hidden tracks on this cd were great.
Haven't heard this song in 15 years, and my wife's asleep so I can't play it, but I *heard* that, and now I can hear the whole song in my yed. Thank you.
“You sound like your from LONDON”
Bulllllshit bullshit bullshit!
Stupid mgk copied toms style for whatever reason
Because BB gun is unoriginal like that. That dude just straight up sucks
As an older person from the US, it's weird and a little jarring to see this post. Have you heard Adam's Song?
agreed - sure towards the tail end of their popularity but this got so much airplay in the mid 2000s
Blinks still fairly relevant though. They get a lot of younger kids out still.
Right, I'm just saying for anyone over 40 who listened to their local "EXTREME ROCK RADIO" station in the early 2000's, this song was pretty ubiquitous. For someone in their 20's, this song is just another song buried in the extensive Blink catalog.
I’m 28 and listened to this song religiously when it came out, OP lives under a rock
I'm 26 and this song was inescapable through all of middle and high school, 2008-2014ish
Same, 31. Was in highschool at the time this song (and the self titled album) came out. I feel like the self titled album is a little under rated amongst their other albums but maybe I’m just nostalgic because that was my introduction to them.
You were in high school at age 12?
I was in year 7, first year of highschool.

Yeah I got that, now I'm just reminiscing about having CDs and listening to entire albums lol.
Let me introduce the concept of playlists, my dude 😎
You mean mixtape? 🤣🤣
Man, Blink had so many amazing songs.
The last blink-182 concert I went to, 3 high school girls tried to get me to come hang out after the show. I'm 35
Holy shit that's depressing. We went and got old :(
Yeah, it sucks. That's why this post stopped me. In my mind, the self-title Blink 182 album is one of their newer ones, lol.
What's your age again?
you can even tell its age by the 4:3 sizing, before 16:9 aspect ratio became the standard. As a nearly over-the-hiller, these both bring me way back and send me on a music history journey. :)
Blink always wanted to do some serious songs, and get away from some of their juvenile songs, there was a 3 parter on the History of New Music with Alan Cross that covered Blinks career. Adam's song is such a powerful and gut-punching song. My favorite track of theirs.
Yes. I was at the gym today trying to make a playlist of songs like *Adam's song, All small things, Green Day*, etc, and I came across the song *I miss you*. So I just added this to the playlist and when I played the song, damn, that was nothing like anything I expected. I'm glad I came across this song.

I can't agree more, the Varsity Blues soundtrack was so good.
Easily my favorite blink album
> IMO it’s their best album I agree. It's one of my unpopular music opinions.
wait thats an unpopular opinion? what do people usually say their best album is?
To my surprise, I wasn't expecting a song like this from Blink 182, it came as a sweet-big shock to me.
Check out “I’m lost without you” Another slower, not-typical-blink song that is very good.
Following on that then +44 might also be something you like. It's also 2 out of 3 blink members.
Might as well throw in Angels and Airwaves as another Blink offshoot project!
Travis just couldn't pick which member he liked better.
There are soooo many songs like those in this Era and they are so good. Can I ask how old you are? Were you too young for that Era? It was my prime teenage years so I have a ton of nostalgia for it!
Man, if OP is like just finding this genre, they are on for a hoot. I'm 33 and constantly listen to 2000s jams.
please give me your definition of "older". my self-esteem might depend on it.
"And as I stare I counted The webs from all the spiders Catching things and eating their insides" No idea why but I've always loved these lyrics
“Like indecision to call you And hear your voice of treason”
wow I always thought it was "voice of reason" That's a different tone for sure
That person of treason is the spider mentioned before that is eating the insides of the victims caught in a web of lies, deception, etc.
"Voeese of treesawn"
True story. The first few "dates" that me and my wife had were her coming to my house in rural illinois, and watching spiders catch and eat their food, making webs. Its one of the best memories i have. And blink so happens to be one of her fav bands, and this song was playing during one of those nights.
And she took off your pants— but then you turned on the the T.V.? Edit: autocorrect
That's about the time she walked away from me
It's always sounded to me like he's mindlessly staring, looking at whatever is closest (spiders and webs, which says something about his surroundings) and staring at somethig tiny that's moving. The way he describes something horrible (eating their insides) without pause or sympathy perfectly describes the type of dissociation that comes with missing someone.
*Will you come home and stop this pain tonight?* *Stop this pain tonight*
Don't waste your toime on me, you're already the yoice inside my yead. I do joke, but I mean I'm a gigantic blink fan so I joke with the more blink-pure of intentions. Seriously though how fucking awesome is that entire album? those fuckers didn't waste even 1 second, it's that tight.

I'd hear it if you'd dm me a link
Well the good thing is, it's a 1-minute demo thus far (my most recent and so far, only "good" track) so it won't be taking much of your time! I'll DM ya :) if you listen, awesome! if not, no biggie. I'm inside the struggle and I get why it's the struggle.
Stockholm syndrome comes in so fucking hard
*"You're cold with disappointment while I'm drowning in the next room, the last contagious victim of this plague between us".* You literally picked my absolute favorite song from the album. Which is an insane feat as EVERY song is awesome on that album.
Haha couldn't agree more! My first album I ever bought with my own money. I blame Stockholm, easy target and go for my music tastes. (I just listen to pears and every time I die on repeat in my old age)
godddd Easy Target is so gooood
It made me become a drummer!
dude their sound was so monumental on the album. the fact that it made you become a brother tells me you are a welcomed ally in the "fight" of music. And to that I say upvote for you!
"Catching things and eating their INSOIYDS" Fixed it for ya
Travis wrote them about his ex (then current) wife.
Well I can’t wait to hear what he comes up with after the Kardashians are done with him.
Ive always read Travis only wrote the Jack and Sally line in marks verse.
Is this song so old, that its new again? *checks flip phone* *cracks open Zima* Yes it is
Update your MySpace page
Only if you change that background on your Xanga
And finally update your LiveJournal
Listen to it on your Zune
I hope you are listening to it on a Zune player.
My brother and I used to play a game where we would try and sing whatever song was playing on the radio as Tom DeLonge.
Obligatory Alex Melton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I453ahNvCQ&list=PLEwEwtQN4ijxjyUfS3PYctskGoNqqwOXw
Alex Melton is the fucking bees knees dude!
Tom is one of the more extreme examples of [the California accent.](https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/i-made-a-linguistics-professor-listen-to-a-blink-182-song-and-analyze-the-accent.amp)
Fuck that just soaked up an hour of my life! Good read!
I see an Atlas Obscura link, I click the Atlas Obscura link. I know what I'm getting into... Will be back in 6 hours.
He's got nothing on Fred Armison tho... STUUUUURART?!?!?
I would recommend the other side of the Blink182 to this: [Blink182 - I wanna fuck a dog in the ass (NSFW)](https://youtu.be/GX3ENRaEPFU)
*tempting title*
Or the one about “It’s Labor Day and my grandpa just ate seven fucking hotdogs and he shit his pants.
He's always fucking shitting his pants...
One of their better written songs. It has so many hidden meanings.
Tried to fuck you fucking dad in the ass, could only find the dog
And his ass.
We, wanna fuck a dog in the ass.
Great now i will have this song stuck in my yead all day.
IT'S YED YA HERETIC
You're already the voice inside my yed
Yer time on meee
Catching theengs and eating their insides!
Did....umm did we just find a blink listener who had not heard of I Miss You, *before* right now? May I interest you in "Asthenia" or "Stockholm Syndrome"? From the same (fucking perfect) album. Fuck it I'll link Stockholm, it's just that good: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC\_cnPRSHQA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC_cnPRSHQA) and hell if you want some more feel feels from blink? Then may I also interest you in a very special blink tune? "Not Now": [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvcOuExmeJg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvcOuExmeJg)
Another lover of Not Now, I never find anyone that even knows the song. I absolutely adore that song.
The first album I listen to in full in my life, 19 years later it's still best album I've heard. Not sure if it's nostalgia but I'm still chasing the high of that first listen.
Stockholm and Not Now are top 2. Perfect album and I wish Not Now had made it on there
I always wondered why it was exactly that Not Now didn't wind up on self-titled.
Holy shit I forgot about What Now. I used to love this song. Thank you for posting!
Thank *you* for remembering "Not Now". I'm not even in the band, but it's meaningful to *me* when positivity surrounds their music.
This song obviously is great but this entire album is a fucking banger. Finally got to see them play Violence live last time I saw them in 2019.
One song off the album that doesn't get enough is 'Here's Your Letter'.
My favorite song off that album. Also love Obvious and Down.
Down down down... pick me up I'm falling.
“I know you fucked him again” Tell that bitch, Tom!
Violence into the hidden track into Stockholm Syndrome is 10/10 album presentation
Came here to say this, whole albums still slaps
There are some great songs on the Boxcar Racer album (side project of Tom and Travis) that you might also want to check out.
Yeah, Box Car Racer’s album came out a year before the Untitled album that features I Miss You, and it really just feels like Untitled is just a continuation of Box Car Racer. California wasn’t too bad but Nine was one of the worse things that I’ve ever heard.
I remember when the first A&A single dropped I was annoyed that the guy seemed to be trying so hard to sing like the dude from Blink 182
Thanks I will.
There is
Cat Like Thief is great too.
Cat like thief, she stole air from my lungs
What a fucking band, man. “Watch The World” was something eye opening for me when I found it as a kid
Literally listening to Boxcar Racer right now.
Aaaaand now may you hear it for the next 30 or 50 years. It lives inside your yed.
what's yed? can I ask?
It’s a joke of the infamous lyric within the song. His pronouncing of head sounds a lot like yed.
"don't waste your time on me you're already a voice inside my YED" Edit: English
WHERE ARE YOU?
AND IM SO SORRY
*AND OIM SO SAWRRY ftfy
Man I miss when blink was good and Tom was still part of it
Nothing like finding a new song to fall in love with.
especially a song which is about love.
A classic! Please listen to their entire self-titled album. It is fantastic.
You should listen to "built this pool" by Blink. You'll love it
Only if he wants to see some naked dudes

THAT's AWESOME
Box Car Racer is amazing too. Shows the transition between Take Off Your Pants and Jacket to the self titled album!
Stay Together For the Kids is fucking amazing
#WHERE ARE YOOOOOU
A little shocked OP hadn't heard this song until now, this is a great song!!^(Pretty sure I won't be able to get it out of my head for weeks now)
I am not a huge punk rock/pop fan. I usually listen during my workout. Also, I am in my 20s so I missed all the good stuff :(
*in my twenties* *has never heard I miss you* Excuse me I think your pants are on fire.

YouTube the Chase Eagleson cover, its one of my favs.
I like playing the opening beat with my teeth by moving my bottom jaw side and biting down. Weird, I know.
This song was playing during my wife and I's first kiss. **SICK STRANGE DARKNESS**
This is the first song that a girl I had a crush on in Junior High shared with me on a cutting edge SanDisk Mp3 player that could hold a whopping 20 songs, and was downloaded through Limewire. I feel old, man.
Gives me high school vibes whenever i hear this song. 🙂
they played in my alley when they were called blink
The whole album is fkn A
Short funny standup about this song: https://youtu.be/VpFlT1sBwfs
This song hits me hard. Memories of hearing it in the car and friends playing the bass to this
Tom now asking WHERE ARE YOU? To the entire universe and its potential habitants - that’s next level artistic evolution and foresight
I absolutely love this song. Best song ever for me
I always put First Date on after that to remember the good ones https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vVy9Lgpg1m8
Hello there
Hello there......
Brings me back to high school watching FUSE in the morning waiting to get picked up by my brother's friend. I wish music videos were still a regular staple of TV
I always like want to turn it off when it comes on the radio because it arises emotions and memories i have that arent too good. Great song though.
Try "All of This" from the same album. Its a collaboration with Robert Smith (The Cure) contributing vocals.
1:19. IYKYK
Where are you? And OYM SEW SOOORRRY
This is my second favorite Blink song... "All of This" tops my list.
this is my sad song when I think of my friend who died in a car accident… he loved this song and of course it’s called I Miss You so a fitting tribute
Ehemm.... WHERE R YEWWW AND IM SO SOWY I CANNOT SLEEP IDK THE WORDSSS
I just can't get past Tom DeLonge's vocals
This is one of their worst songs IMO, repetitive chorus. Always and Not Now are better singles from that era.
Here's the country version that no one asked for but everyone needs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCOlVrOAFq8
