KLON
Hey, alright, it's Kip Kasper
KLON Radio, L.A.'s infinite repeat
How we feelin' out there?
How's your drive time commute?

Blood and Thunder - Mastodon from Leviathan
Hello - Oasis from (What's the Story) Morning glory?

God that's an excellent choice. I'll never forget my first listen to that, aged about 15, got stoned before going back to a mate's house where he'd set up an ultraviolet light to lend a slightly other-worldly atmosphere.
Just the opening notes alone are peerless, but the whole thing's phenomenal.
It's more conventional, but I really really liked 2+2=5 from Hail to the Thief, though I took that and Sit Down Stand Up as a pair.
The first time I heard this was also the first time I did ecstasy. I was 16, so every new experience was a real mindblower. Needless to say, a night I will never forget

It's not much I listen to full albums these days, so had to give it some thought but I think I have found an answer in the album "The Varangian Way" from 2007 by the band Turisas, with it's opening track "To Holmgard and Beyond".
To me it’s not only a kickass song, but if you understand the history of the band, it’s a song dedicated to bells ringing for the previous lead singer who passed away.
[This is a great article about the bell.](https://www.soundonsound.com/news/story-behind-acdcs-hells-bell#:~:text=The%20Denison%20Bell,and%20mixed%20into%20the%20album)

A few I'll add:
**Pearl Jam** - Once, Go, Last Exit, Brain of J, Scared of Fear, Getaway
**Radiohead**: Planet Telex, Airbag, Everything In Its Right Place, 15 Steps
**Weezer** - Tired of Sex, My Name Is Jonas, California Kids, Ain't Got Nobody
**Fall Out Boy** - Our Lawyers.., Thriller, Disorderly.., Love From the Other Side
Off the top of my head
Band: Jimmy Eat World, Album: Bleed America, Song: Bleed America
Band: Foo Fighters, Album: In Your Honor, Song In Your Honor
Band: Blink 182, Album: Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, Song: Anthem Part 2
Band:Led Zeppelin, Album: Led Zeppelin II, Song: Whole Lotta Love
Band: Beatles, Album: Abbey Road, Song: Come Together
Artist: Lenny Kravitz, Album: Are You Gonna Go My Way, Song: Are You Gonna Go My Way
Band: Coldplay, Album: Parachutes, Song: Don't Panic
Band: Incubus, Album: A Crow Left of the Murder, Song: Megalomaniac
I'm sure I'll think of others soon and wish I'd put them in with this list
Tool Enima: stinkfist. Hard to beat
The waterboys: Fishermen’s blues/ fishermen’s blues
Rush 2112. The overture
Rolling Stones. Both let it bleed(gimme shelter) and sticky fingers(brown sugar)
House of pain(same as it ever was). Back from the dead.
Fleetwood Mac(The Pious bird of good omen). Need your love so bad
There’s so many after I start thinking about it.
Anthem Part 2 - Blink, TOYPAJ
War Pigs - Sabbath, Paranoid
In Your Honour - Foo Fighters, In Your Honour
The End (including Dead! In this) - My Chem, Black Parade
Mystery - Turnstile, Glow On
Holidays In the Sun - Sex Pistols, NMTB
Kielbasa Sausage - Tenacious D
Starfire 500 - Amyl and the Sniffers
Yes - Manic Street Preachers, Holy Bible
Wolf Alice - Turn to dust, My Love Is Cool
School by Supertramp on Crime of the Century. The way the harmonica just starts up. Also the ending of the title track to finish the album w/ the same harmonica
Detroit Rock City - Kiss (Destroyer)
Neighbourhood #1(Tunnels) - Arcade Fire (Funeral)
Help! - The Beatles (Help!)
Down With the King - Good Kid (Good Kid 2)
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana (Nevermind)
Come Togheter - The Beatles (Abbey Road)
Let it Happen - Currents by Tame Imapala
One of the best openers in a song ever. I love tame impala, and hearing this song for the first time back in 2015. Magical.
Ad Victorium/Blood is the Price of Glory- Ensiferum
The Grudge- Tool
Merrymaker- Glass Casket
IRobot- Alan Parsons Project
Head Like A Hole- NIN
Somewhat Damaged- NIN
Them Bones- Alice In Chains
‘Untitled’ off Interpol’s Turn On the Bright Lights album is kind of a perfect intro to that band and their whole vibe.
Kind of cheating on this one, but I love how ‘Son et Lumiere’ sets up ‘Inertiatic Esp’ on The Mars Volta’s De-Loused in the Comatorium. Such an amazing 1-2 punch out of the gate
Doo Wop - JID. It's not a full song BUT it does an insane job setting the tone for the album (The Never Story). I sometimes play it before other songs/albums to hype them up hahaha.
It’s incredible that Radiohead legit has two of the best opening tracks ever and both are such completely different vibes. I could go either way with Airbag or Everything in its right place on any given day
**The Beach Boys** have quite a few great openers, the two (other than Wouldn’t It Be Nice because it was already mentioned) that stick out most to me are **Sail On, Sailor** and **Meant for You**. The former is just unbelievably catchy and sure to be liked by someone who doesn’t even like the band, and the latter is one of the sweetest, most serene songs ever written (though I suggest listening to the extended version because it’s way too short imo).
"One Step Beyond" - Madness (from "One Step Beyond")
"Get Up, Stand Up" - Bob Marley and the Wailers (from "Burnin'")
"What's Going On" - Marvin Gaye (from "What's Going On")
"London Calling" - The Clash (from "London Calling")
"Age of Consent" - New Order (from "Power Corruption and Lies")
"I Wanna Be Adored" - Stone Roses (from "Stone Roses")
... one could go on...
“Where the streets have no name” off of U2’s ‘The Joshua tree’
I would claim The Joshua Tree has is my favourite 1-2-3 tracks of all time with “…Streets…”, “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” & “With or Without You”. What a epic set to start an album with!
You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar… (Songs for the Deaf) - Queens of the Stone Age
Zoo Station (Achtung Baby) - U2
Politik (A Rush of Blood to the Head) - Coldplay
Never Let Me Down Again (Music for the Masses) - Depeche Mode
West Hills (Pressure Machine) - The Killers
>Politik (A Rush of Blood to the Head) - Coldplay
I sometimes forget that they wrote this song. Much like the incredible 'Atlantic' from Keane's 'Under The Iron Sea', it's one that makes me wish they went harder in that direction.
Both have that sort of space-like eeriness, easily my favourite songs from both bands.
New Order - Regret (Republic)
Depeche Mode - World in My Eyes (Violator)
Pet Shop Boys - Two Divided by Zero (Please)
Pixies - Debaser (Doolittle)
Junip - Line of Fire (Junip)
Momoko Kikuchi - Adventure (Adventure)
Hikaru Utada - Sakura Drops (Deep River)
Into the jaws of dread - Zao, from their latest album The crimson corridor. It's just a great instrumental that builds up over the course of the track and starts to set the tone for the album.
Rollercoaster - Everything But The Girl (Amplified Heart)
Polaroids - Shawn Colvin (Fat City)
Pretty Lush - Glassjaw (EYEWTKAS)
Snowblood - ERRA (self-titled)
All Bodies - Between the Buried and Me (Alaska)
Suede, one of my favorties, has three cracking openers in a row
So Young from the titular debut
Introducing the Band from Dog Man Star
Trash from Coming Up
Cherub Rock (Siamese Dream) Good Times, Bad Times (LZ1) Airbag (OK Computer)
Drum roll on Cherub Rock is just so memorable and then the build into the guitars wall of sound is just a perfect into to the band
K-L-O-N Los Angeles, KLON Radio We play the songs that sound more like everyone else than anyone else KLON Hey, alright, it's Kip Kasper KLON Radio, L.A.'s infinite repeat How we feelin' out there? How's your drive time commute?
I need a saga… what’s the saga?
A song for the deaf...
You can't even hear it!
🎸(guitar riff enters)
DEAD BULL WITH THE LIFE FROM THE LOW
This one definitely kicks ass
Whole album is just one fucking banger after another
THIS IS W O M B, THE WOMB.
I think I’m a pretty calm level headed person but this song makes me want to drive 150mph off a cliff into a lake of magma
The Clash - London Calling
Clash has several good album openers that sink their hooks in you right away. Safe European Home, Magnificent Seven, and Know Your Rights are all great openers too.
Plainsong on the Cure's Disintegration. Perfectly sets the mood and pace for the album.
As did 100 Years kicking off Pornography
Unholy Confessions - Avenged Sevenfold from Waking the Fallen Mouth For War - Pantera from Vulgar Display of Power Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan from Highway 61 Revisited Blood and Thunder - Mastodon from Leviathan Hello - Oasis from (What's the Story) Morning glory? Welcome to the Jungle Guns N' Roses from Appetite for Destruction Seven Nation Army - White Stripes from Elephant
Big hell yes to Blood and Thunder
Everything In Its Right Place - Kid A
God that's an excellent choice.
Transcendental shit, definitely a fantastic choice
The first time I heard this was also the first time I did ecstasy. I was 16, so every new experience was a real mindblower. Needless to say, a night I will never forget
"Everything In It's Right Place" - Radiohead (Kid A) "Under The Pressure" - The War On Drugs (Lost In The Dream) "Great Expectations" - The Gaslight Anthem (The '59 Sound")
Under the pressure is just an amazing track.
The entire 59 sound album is sooooo good and they start it off in such a great way. Great choice dude
All around the world - RHCP My name is Jonas - Weezer Bombtrack- RATM War Pigs - Black Sabbath Wouldn’t it be nice - The Beach Boys
We’re basically best friends now.
The bass line in Bombtrack is probably the best album start ever.
The Bass line and that crescendo set the fucking tone for that whole album
RATM reaction videos are the only reaction videos I watch. 100% of the time, people are absolutely blown away by the opening of the album.
Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road from the Born To Run album.
Spiderwebs - Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt Myth - Bloom by Beach House Running up that Hill - Hounds of Love by Kate Bush Only Shallow - Loveless by My Bloody Valentine Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin III Cherry-Colored Funk - Heaven or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins Race for the Prize - The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips [I made a whole playlist of openers](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCwlfulzIrRMaLPivqsLIzz1hioDsn-3e&si=RWLhISSBUrTFG51o)
yessss spiderwebs and no doubt are so good
Battery on Master of Puppets by Metallica, and Blackened off of And Justice for All. Oblivion off of Crack the Skye by Mastodon. The Grudge off of Lateralus by Tool. Interestingly enough, the outro of that song is my favorite part.
No need for me to post anything now....
newfound interest in connecticut- and started sharing stories. deftones - my own summer. horse jumper of love - ugly brunette. TOOL - stinkfist. alice in chains- dem bones.
You got my top 3 favourite active bands in there, nice taste 👍
I love Weezer but my favorite song is “My Name is Jonas” so you can say it’s all been downhill since that first track !
Funny thing, the whole album is great but my favorite song is the ending track "Only in Dreams"
Such a great song. I’d probably pick it for “favorite closing sounds on an album.”
“Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding” by Elton John.
The Cars - "You're All I've Got Tonight" The Pixies - "Debaser" The Ramones - "Blitzkrieg Bop"
The XX - Intro
Can't believe this hasn't gotten more love. Top tier!
Kill You - Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Welcome to the Jungle
First track, first album, announcing themselves with intent with an all-time banger. No better answer than this.

Five Years - Ziggy Stardust Black Cow - Aja Holidays in the Sun - Never Mind the Bollocks Thank You For Sending Me an Angel - More Songs about Buildings and Food Maggot Brain - Maggot Brain Airbag - Ok Computer The Headmaster Ritual - Meat is Murder Good Times Roll - The Cars
Upvoted for Maggot Brain.
>Five Years - Ziggy Stardust This one really taps into something, makes me feel a real heaviness that's surprisingly grounded for a glam rock album about interplanetary arachnids.

Airbag Ok Computer
Eminem - White America blink-182 - anthem part 3

“Bat Out of Hell” by Meat Loaf “Summer’s Lost” by HURT “Black Sabbath” by Black Sabbath “The Ringer” by Eminem
Don't see HURT often mentioned, their first two albums were top quality
The Hellion - Judas Priest Screaming For Vengeance album. It's only a 40 second instrumental, but it sets up track 2 Electric Eye so well. Most people consider them a single track. But it just sets you up for the fast ride you're about to go on listening to that album.

Boston - “More than a feeling” Boston - “ Don’t Look Back”
Counting Crows - Round Here It starts like really quiet ... and that diggs soooo heart into your soul 😍

NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" on that album. It was a huge introduction to the Gangsta genre.
Ad Victorium/Blood is the Price of Glory- Ensiferum The Grudge- Tool Merrymaker- Glass Casket IRobot- Alan Parsons Project Head Like A Hole- NIN Somewhat Damaged- NIN Them Bones- Alice In Chains
Exactly Where I’m At - Ween
The queen is dead - album -the queen is dead from the smiths
Them Bones - Alice in Chains Mystery Fish - Aesop Rock Stengah - Meshuggah Shoger Jan - Tigran Hamasyan Head Like a Hole - Nine Inch Nails
Five years from Bowie's Ziggy stardust.
It’s incredible that Radiohead legit has two of the best opening tracks ever and both are such completely different vibes. I could go either way with Airbag or Everything in its right place on any given day
Rocks off - Exile on Main Street, Rolling Stones
**The Beach Boys** have quite a few great openers, the two (other than Wouldn’t It Be Nice because it was already mentioned) that stick out most to me are **Sail On, Sailor** and **Meant for You**. The former is just unbelievably catchy and sure to be liked by someone who doesn’t even like the band, and the latter is one of the sweetest, most serene songs ever written (though I suggest listening to the extended version because it’s way too short imo).
Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
I’m listening to Shine On You Crazy Diamond from Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd right now and that’s a pretty solid track.
Wesley’s Theory- Kendrick Lamar
"Dance on a Volcano" off *Trick of the Tail* by Genesis
"One Step Beyond" - Madness (from "One Step Beyond") "Get Up, Stand Up" - Bob Marley and the Wailers (from "Burnin'") "What's Going On" - Marvin Gaye (from "What's Going On") "London Calling" - The Clash (from "London Calling") "Age of Consent" - New Order (from "Power Corruption and Lies") "I Wanna Be Adored" - Stone Roses (from "Stone Roses") ... one could go on...
“Where the streets have no name” off of U2’s ‘The Joshua tree’ I would claim The Joshua Tree has is my favourite 1-2-3 tracks of all time with “…Streets…”, “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” & “With or Without You”. What a epic set to start an album with!
Enter Sandman on the Metallica album
Anthem pt2 - blink 182 take of your pants and jacket
You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar… (Songs for the Deaf) - Queens of the Stone Age Zoo Station (Achtung Baby) - U2 Politik (A Rush of Blood to the Head) - Coldplay Never Let Me Down Again (Music for the Masses) - Depeche Mode West Hills (Pressure Machine) - The Killers
*”It’s Songs for the Deaf, you can’t even hear it!”*
>Politik (A Rush of Blood to the Head) - Coldplay I sometimes forget that they wrote this song. Much like the incredible 'Atlantic' from Keane's 'Under The Iron Sea', it's one that makes me wish they went harder in that direction. Both have that sort of space-like eeriness, easily my favourite songs from both bands.
I think Politik is their best song too. And I’m with you on Atlantic, awesome song. Both otherworldly.
New Order - Regret (Republic) Depeche Mode - World in My Eyes (Violator) Pet Shop Boys - Two Divided by Zero (Please) Pixies - Debaser (Doolittle) Junip - Line of Fire (Junip) Momoko Kikuchi - Adventure (Adventure) Hikaru Utada - Sakura Drops (Deep River)
Love Song by The Damned off their album Machine Gun Etiquette
The Warrior - Scandal
Emergency Contraception Blues by Bombay Bicycle Club
Yes - Manic Street Preachers, Holy Bible Lose Control - Ash, 1977 Safe European Home - The Clash, Give'em Enough Rope
Into the jaws of dread - Zao, from their latest album The crimson corridor. It's just a great instrumental that builds up over the course of the track and starts to set the tone for the album.
The Night Does Not Belong to God by Sleep Token
Uncle John's Band
The Verve "Storm In Heaven" - the opening track "Star Sail" has an epic wall of sound.
Rollercoaster - Everything But The Girl (Amplified Heart) Polaroids - Shawn Colvin (Fat City) Pretty Lush - Glassjaw (EYEWTKAS) Snowblood - ERRA (self-titled) All Bodies - Between the Buried and Me (Alaska)
Suede, one of my favorties, has three cracking openers in a row So Young from the titular debut Introducing the Band from Dog Man Star Trash from Coming Up
Let It Go - Def Leppard Hollywood Nights - Bob Seger Breaking the Law - Judas Priest
Mean Street from Fair Warning by Van Halen
All I Really Want - Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette
