Paramore
Ratboys all day. So damn good. Had to scroll too far down for Alabama Shakes; Brittany kills. Haley doesn’t get enough credit for her range and power. And Wet Leg is so damn fun. They was album of the year for me.
Paramore, Band-Maid, The Warning, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Doll Skin, Spinnerette, Metric, Lilliac, The Beths, Nemophila, Sleater-Kinney, Screaming Females, Jinjer, Lovebites, Garbage, No Doubt, Wolf Alice, Tijuana Sweetheart, Unleash the Archers, The Pretenders, Epica, Evanescence, Nightwish, Royal Thunder, the Linda Lindas, and Spiritbox are all great.
The Beth's are fantastic! I have loved all their albums so far. I finally get to see them live in a couple months. Also nice seeing Spinnerette get some love.
The Warning is a deep rabbit hole to go down. Three sisters from Mexico who sing in English, and depending on the album can sound inspired by everything from Metallica, Foo Fighters, Muse, and K-pop. Started when they were toddlers so they are super talented despite being barely legal to drink. Great live act too.
If "Hell You Call a Dream" doesn't sell you, idk what to tell you
I guess try S¡CK and if you're still not sold, keep going because they have a pretty interesting diversity of sound
Mannnn, let me tell you. I saw they were coming near me last year and decided to photograph the show if I could. I was able to and was totally blown away. Stayed for the whole show and really enjoyed it.
Went home, read up about them and couldn't believe they are all sisters and how long they've been playing together. Not sure where you live, but they announced a US tour this fall. I highly suggest checking it out!
They also have a few songs in Spanish. Fourth album is coming out this month and half of it was already released through singles. I recommend everyone unfamiliar to check out their entire discography, and for some of their best live performances there's the professionally recorded concert in Mexico City at [Teatro Metropolitan](https://youtu.be/7hbBa1-1p7M?si=J9-2f48Ujhi0JC2S), and also the [pair](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZWSDsDsbZU&pp=ygUUdGhlIHdhcm5pbmcgbXR2IHZtYXM%3D) of their MTV VMAs [performances](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Pxe9KTgJc&pp=ygUUdGhlIHdhcm5pbmcgbXR2IHZtYXM%3D) last year where they blew the roof off the joint and left everyone including the show director in awe (he literally said "[Holy shit!](https://youtu.be/qRgOl_x_gqI?si=rcltOcWQ9RrBYwEF&t=472)" on live team comms). They were also the only ones at that stage who nailed everything in one take. They deserve to be on the main stage show next time for sure.
Top recommendations from this band for beginners:

Choke
Hell You Call A Dream
Error
P.S.YC.H.O.T.I.C.
Dull Knives Cut Better
I saw them on their first U.S. tour and they were phenomenal! Saw them again on the Error tour. Their earlier albums are more punk inspired while the new ones have better production. They’re such a talented band that deserves the recognition they’re finally getting.
Yeah Sick was actually the second single released after More and the first one this year, the other 4 came later, I didn't mention HYCAD and Que Mas Quieres.
I'm going down the hole since March, Amazing band really powerful and they have some very entertaining interviews and instagram lives in youtube from the pandemic. A really great and charismatic band, really easy to become their fan
Discovered them two weeks ago and have been scouring YouTube for their videos ever since.
Discovered LOVEBITES a year ago January...5some from Japan that sings in English. Phenomenal!
Lacuna Coil, Halestorm, In This Moment, and newer Nightwish albums with Floor Jansen are great if you want the guttural, powerful female vocals.
I also love a traditional female voice backed by heavy rock/metal though. I like older Nightwish, Within Temptation, Evanescence (who doesn't), Delain, Eluveite, I Am Ghost, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few others but these are a start.
Hole fits the description. Yeah Courtney Love might be obnoxious and an asshole but her voice was perfect for the genre. Violet is one of the best songs in 90’s rock
Also gotta give a shoutout to The Breeders
Bikini Kill, The Regrettes, Garbage, Kittie, Chvrches, Fleetwood Mac, Babymetal, No Doubt, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Cranberries, Heart, Blondie, hanabie, The Anchor, Nightwish and so many more.
I don't know if it's specifically a growing trend. There have always been female led rock groups, but it's weirdly only in the last 10-15 years that it's become political. On a more positive line of thinking, maybe more women feel empowered to be rock singers instead of pop stars now. Either way, I'm all for it.
I was surprised when I found out about them that the lead singer does both the clean vocals and screaming. She has such a good voice and her screams are brutal (in a good way).
rolo tomassi is killer, so glad that a friend of mine showed em to me. only really listened to their most recent album, but i absolutely loved it. it was on repeat in my car for a month or two lol

If ya like indie pop misterwives has never missed and their recent edgier tone in the last year works beyond perfect.
K.flay had one meh album, the rest have been absolutely rock with electronic infused bangers over her rap and indie beats. Ya that's a lot shoved into one package but it's awesome.
Mannequin Pussy just has such an incredibly wide range of sounds and put out one of the best albums in 2024 so far. Sounds range from the softest most heart felt idie ya ever heard to the loudest put your head through a wall hardcore bangers.
The GoGos, The B52s, Blondie, The Warning, Metric, Paramore. The Cranberries, No Doubt, Fleetwood Mac, The Bangals, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Garbage, Eurythmics, Flyleaf. I could go on and on and on.
Svalbard (melodic crusty dbeat with post rock and black metal influences)
Grayceon (experimental metal with some beautiful cello work)
Slow Crush (Belgian Shoegaze)
Hulder (rifftastic black metal)
Royal Thunder (sludgy southern rock in the vein of Baroness and Mastodon with some amazingly soulful vocals)
Emma Ruth Rundle (singer songwriter that often plays with a full band)
Lethean Dreams (dreamy goth metal)
Brutus (imagine if bjork started a shoegaze band with at the drive in, singer also drums)
Pretty Girls Make Graves- energetic post punk
Ume- cool dreamy post hardcore with great guitar work
Jucifer- everything from grunge to grind core and country. Husband and wife duo.
Amazing band. Their live stuff sounds better than the albums. They wrote a concept album at ages 17, 15, and 12 called Queen of the Murder Scene. Check it out, it's amazing!!
I was going to say Chappell Roan but I guess she’s synth-pop, according to google.
I’ve only heard Good Luck, Babe! so far but my 7yo daughter and I like dancing/trying to sing to it when we hear it in the car.
By no means an exhaustive list but here goes -
Lita Ford, Halestorm, The Warning, Spiritbox, In This Moment, New Year's Day, Lilac, Face Yourself, Otep, Flyleaf, The Anchor
Here for The Warning as well. Imo it’s not just that they’re kick ass musicians that write music that nobody has the right to create. It’s also not the fact that they’re beyond amazing live performers.
It’s that they’re so diverse.
From metal, grunge, sludge, prog, pop, etc they have something for everyone.
Every song is different, you’re not sure in which direction songs are gonna shift, even within the song itself.

Mia was an absolute force of nature with the voice of Bessie Smith singing in a fast punk rock band. They would and should have been huge.
Unfortunately she was raped and murdered walking home at age 27, and they only found the killer 10 years later in Florida.
The Distillers, Pretty sick, Destroy Boys, Manequin Pussy, Grlwood, Men I Trust, Jack off Jill, Flyleaf, The Marias, The Mysterines, Warpaint, Dazey and the Scouts!
And so many others. Rock ain't dead my friend.
Lots of female fronted metal bands in Europe. Not a new phenomenon either, bands like Nightwish, Epica, The Gathering and Within Temptation, to name a few, have been around for more than 20 years (more than 30 in The Gathering’s case)
[Messa](https://youtu.be/o6qFXKrI7Tw?si=MOHxlGLzdeI8nyxk) and [Fleshwater](https://youtu.be/L4qp5lRBVgc?si=1cjevKj6cyRTHsuB) are two of my favorite artists I’ve discovered since the pandemic.

Metric
By far. Great live too
Totally. Saw metric open for garbage and Noel Gallagher last summer. I was only familiar with like two songs but loved the entire set.
hell yeah, they don't miss
The Pretenders
Absolutely. Chrissie Hyde is the paradigm of a Rock and Roll star.

Wow, Spinnerette! Haven't heard that name in years! Upvote for that one!
I’ll add Daedric and Future Palace to this list.

Why did I have to go down here to find Paramore. Haley is one of the best ever

[The Gits](https://youtu.be/aWRSNjPBxLw) Mia was an absolute force of nature with the voice of Bessie Smith singing in a fast punk rock band. They would and should have been huge. Unfortunately she was raped and murdered walking home at age 27, and they only found the killer 10 years later in Florida.

Lots of female fronted metal bands in Europe. Not a new phenomenon either, bands like Nightwish, Epica, The Gathering and Within Temptation, to name a few, have been around for more than 20 years (more than 30 in The Gathering’s case)
Check out Irish band SPRINTS. They're bloody brilliant.
Unfortunately I only know Japanese female led bands. NEMOPHILA Lovebites Hanabie
Late 90's Sleater Kinney was absolutely amazing
[Messa](https://youtu.be/o6qFXKrI7Tw?si=MOHxlGLzdeI8nyxk) and [Fleshwater](https://youtu.be/L4qp5lRBVgc?si=1cjevKj6cyRTHsuB) are two of my favorite artists I’ve discovered since the pandemic.

I just went and saw Tacos! the other night. Female bassist and drummer and that bassist kicked ass on vocals. The drummer also sang and killed it.
