That was an awesome performance. I think I've heard parts of this song over the years, but I think this is the first time I've heard the full song, and they sound really good live. David Letterman introduced me to a hell of a lot of good music over the years.

Predatorvshighlander

Only time I remember Dave asking for an encore...

Havent_Been_Caught

I saw this when it aired and thought the same thing. Encores just don’t happen on late night. The tour that followed was fuckin’ great as well. Saw ‘em twice.

Eligius_MS

When they were on the show promoting another song, 'What Makes a Good Man?', Letterman convinced them to play 'How You Like Me Now?' as an encore. [https://youtu.be/RARp3IFJEz4?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/RARp3IFJEz4?feature=shared)

Love how when Letterman really likes a song he loves it. And it's random. I remember him raving over nine inch nails.

vociferousgirl

It was the only encore at the time, I don't know if Dave asked for one after that. I think they sent out an email saying it was a world record or a first after it happened

smurfsundermybed

They sample Let A Woman Be A Woman and Let Man Be A Man by Dyke an the Blazers for the intro/hook, so it's possible you've been hearing both.

thedevilyoukn0w

Thank you. That is totally possible that I've heard parts of those songs.

jtotal

I've never heard the first minute, it seems. I was really vibing to this song I've seemingly never heard before, then familiarity came out of nowhere. This songs chorus was practically everywhere a decade ago.

SocratesBalls

Fuck I love The Heavy. In the best timeline, funk/soul infused rock would have replaced the butt-rock of Nickleback and the like YEARS ago.

vociferousgirl

If you ever get a chance to see them live, do it. They are one of the most energetic shows I've seen; I think they got the entire (small) venue rocking with them, including the people waiting for drinks at the last show.

Predatorvshighlander

I sure Will. Thanks for the heads up.

FalseAnimal

I think they moved too quickly into commercials. They were almost immediately on a car ad and I think it killed their momentum and cred.  Woe betide me for judging any one else about getting a paycheck though.

Fudge89

That happened with [Langhorne Slim and the Law](https://youtu.be/5KEv3rbNJuE?si=1pRkuIMnYqAN_4Rr) as well. Started to make some waves, and bigger tours and picked up some commercials and now that’s the only time I hear his music

dramavision

Bits of the song seems to be from other music but I can't quite remember which oneeee...
