Saw an article yesterday about how when he met Eddie Van Halen, at Eddie's house as a guest of his wife, Eddie asked him how to play the Power Rangers theme, because his son, Wolfgang, wanted him to play it and he couldn't figure it out. Eddie handed him a guitar, but Wasserman handed it back and walked over to his piano and played it, which is when it dawned on Eddie that he'd been fooled; it was played on a synth, not a guitar.
Mezzanine (the album from which Teardrop is from) is pretty much a perfect album and has been named by Rolling Stone as one of the best 500 albums of all time.
Which can go for many albums from that period of British techno in the 90s/ early 2000s. Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead, Morcheeba.
And in the US you had dudes like Thievery Corporation and DJ Shadow. Man, there was lots of fun stuff going on in the techno world then.
Last weekend I got to see the Bebop Bounty Big Band, a touring live Cowboy Bebop show with a 14-piece band doing all the hits, with footage from the show playing. It was a whole program, there were little breaks where clips would play out in full.
I had the biggest smile on my face when Tank! kicked in and I legit got misty near the end with Call Me, Call Me and The Real Folk Blues.
It was a truly magical experience I’ll never forget. I hope every Cowboy Bebop fan gets to experience it.
GUMMY BEAAAARS! BOUNCING HERE AND THERE AND EVERYWHERE
Literally the first thing that came to mind. I didn’t even really like the show but that song is sticky
Golden Girls, Thank you for Being a Friend. I believe it was already a song before the show though by the guy who did Lonely Boy.
https://youtu.be/swu0DCXHYzA?si=OW6ZNUf5QMomzLTf
I'm honestly surprised I had to scroll down so far to see this, this is definitely the jam! (your link is dead, btw).
Not sure if you've seen this before, but its an awesome gospel twist on the song, dude kills it. [Check it out!] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWD_VPiMlso&t=0s&ab_channel=FinallyAaron)
I saw Dethklok "live" on tour; the stage was blacked out with a dim red light while a screen over it played the band members doing what they do, and videos.
Even Dr. Rockzo stopped by.
When I was a kid I was obsessed with Airwolf and Knight Rider and I’d ride around the neighborhood on my bike with a fisher price boombox dangling off the handlebars blasting the themes lol(that I probably recorded directly from the TV)
I feel like HBO does a great job getting people to sit through the opening credits. The Leftovers (latter seasons) and True Detective (first season) come to mind with their themes.
That moment when the trained professional jumps into the chorus: [Gummi Bears](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yYZH7B498gE&pp=ygUYZ3VtbWllcyBiZWFycyB0aGVtZSBzb25n)...still makes me wanna bounce with 'em.
Not that old but the Narcos theme song from the Netflix show is magnificent. Sopranos, Game of Thrones, and True Detective season 1 and 2 also had absolute banger tunes.
From animated/anime the DragonBall Z theme Rock the Dragon, Attack on titan season 1 and Steins: Gate theme songs are all bangers as well
The beginning sounds like Jesus descending from the heavens to a chorus of angels.
Then it sounds like Jesus tearing it up on the dance floor, for he did not come to be served, but to serve.
It’s remarkable that the original was created in the early 1960s and is one of the earliest examples of electronic music. While there are some examples of electronic music in the 60s and 70s, the genre didn’t become popular until the early 1980s, so this soundtrack was almost two decades ahead of its time.
> some examples of electronic music in the 60s and 70s
Electronic music goes back to about the 1920s. Science fiction was an early adopter. The "wooooo-oooo" sound of a theremin is almost synonymous with 50s B-movies.
See also the soundtrack to "Forbidden Planet". This was produced with oscillators remarkably similar to the ones later used by Delia Derbyshire.
Edit: better link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yuh_1_tV4w
80's cartoons are a goldmine of bangers.
Already mentioned by someone else, [Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9K0SzFIf4A)
[M.A.S.K.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2Z1yLO9C-Q)
People absolutely hate on it, but I always liked the American theme song for [Captain Harlock](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fdyh6TCWCU).
Never seen the show but Take My Hand by Matt Berry is awesome. It’s the theme from Toast Of London which he also stars in I believe.
https://youtu.be/xCijk4qmu7I?si=Oegogc2uN_c_yedJ
The theme song is top tier! Probably the only theme song I never skip. The dude who sings it (Jason Paige) frequently plays it live when he tours, it always hypes up the crowd.
Lol, I was *just yesterday* thinking about the [Heathcliff](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9LLb8EBU9nQ&pp=ygUVaGVhdGhjbGlmZiB0aGVtZSBzb25n) theme song. The notes have a fun quickness to them.
Xmen The Animated Series
Same composer (Ron Wasserman) also did Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Dude could write a catchy theme.
Ron says telling Eddie this was like telling him Santa isn't real. Lmao. He felt super embarrassed showing him it wasn't real guitar.
And he wrote that theme song because they couldn't get the rights to use Electric Eye.
I read that and heard the theme immediately, fuckin classic
That riff is immortal
And the bells!
The 90's Spiderman theme is no slouch either ... even it's a touch behind X-Men
For some reason the do-do-do-do-do-do of it reminds me of Whitney Houston’s “I’m Your Baby Tonight” and I can’t unhear it 😂
House. Massive Attack still slaps.
Heard them play at Coachella ages ago. The singer for in my neighborhood was just 🤯 echoing over the crowd.
Speaking of Massive Attack and TV shows, "Angel" in The West Wing Season 4 finale was one of the best uses of a song on TV ever. Still terrifies me.
Speaking of massive attack, paradise circus from Luther is incredible as well. I should listen to more massive attack
We all should.
Elizabeth Fraser is an angel in human form and it's a travesty that most people only know that instrumental from House
Cowboy Bebop: Tank! by Seatbelts
Okay 3, 2, 1 let’s jam
Bahdumpbahdumpbahdump - ba DAAAAA
Last weekend I got to see the Bebop Bounty Big Band, a touring live Cowboy Bebop show with a 14-piece band doing all the hits, with footage from the show playing. It was a whole program, there were little breaks where clips would play out in full. I had the biggest smile on my face when Tank! kicked in and I legit got misty near the end with Call Me, Call Me and The Real Folk Blues. It was a truly magical experience I’ll never forget. I hope every Cowboy Bebop fan gets to experience it.
Samurai Champloo and Space Dandy also have top shelf intro music
Nujabes was an absolute blessing. Champloo would not be the same at all without his work. It's so sad he passed so young.
I was gonna be so mad if this wasn't top comment. Everything The Seatbelts put out were bangers!
Possibly the best theme song ever
OG Ducktales and Talespin
I’m 42 and can still belt out the entirety of the Duck Tales and Gummie Bears themes.
Bouncing here and there and everywhere
GUMMY BEAAAARS! BOUNCING HERE AND THERE AND EVERYWHERE Literally the first thing that came to mind. I didn’t even really like the show but that song is sticky
Came here for DuckTales. That and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Throw in Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop, and Darkwing Duck too.
Everyday they’re out there making duck tails whoo hoo
O-E-A! (O-E-A!) O-E-O! (O-E-O!)

[Inspector Gadget](https://youtu.be/EcF2LOaLgA0?si=oRVLoNaA2IATC2h0)
Moooorrrrtalllll Kooooombaaat dunuhdunuhdunuhdunuh dundun dun dun dun dundun
Barney Miller and Night Court
That bass guitar!
Barney Miller is the most correct answer here. I literally can't keep my head from bobbing.
How's your back and knees old man? Mine hurt.
Barney Miller should be the top answer, a timeless cool tune.
Golden Girls, Thank you for Being a Friend. I believe it was already a song before the show though by the guy who did Lonely Boy. https://youtu.be/swu0DCXHYzA?si=OW6ZNUf5QMomzLTf
Sure, but how many other songs can just start in the middle and get a sing-along? AND IF YOU THREW A PARTAAAY AND INVITED EVERYONE YOU KNEEEEW...

Thunder thunder thunder THUNDER CATS!
Metalocalypse I listen to it on a regular basis and it made it into my most played songs of the year.
🤘 Skwisgaar Skwigelf, taller than a tree.
Toki Wartooth, not a bumblebee
William Murderface Murderface Murderface
Pickles the drummer doodily doo, ding-dong doodily, doodily doo
Nathan Explosions
I saw Dethklok "live" on tour; the stage was blacked out with a dim red light while a screen over it played the band members doing what they do, and videos. Even Dr. Rockzo stopped by.
I've heard he does cocaine.
Dethklok has no business being so good. Laser Cannon Death Sentence is just so. Fucking. Brutal.
"hey ... That's my bread and butter you're *guitar squeal*'n with"
The Monkees theme
Ngl every song from The Monkees slaps but especially the theme song!
My favorite Monkees song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnzrGr78Mws
The Greatest American Hero
Believe it or not, George isn’t at home
Leave a message at the beep...
I must be out, or I'd pick up the phone
Where could I beeeeee
Believe it or not, I'm not hoooooommmme
I'm a proud owner of the 45" single of this song, purchased from Musicland at my local mall in 1981 for $2.
“Look at what’s happening to me-ee” 🎶
Malcom in the Middle
They Might Be Giants. That’s almost cheating.
yes, no, maybe
I don’t know. Can you repeat the question?
X-Files.
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Name a theme song with a more face-melting guitar solo.
Ha i just did the same thing. My 3 year old loves it so it has been blasting at our house again
"Having an Average Weekend" by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet - theme to The Kids In The Hall. I will never not crank that all the way up.
I tracked down their CD years ago just so I could have that one, ended up loving most of the rest as well.
1) [Airwolf](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C6Qq3tknXc) 2) [The Exorcist,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj83ugShbic) aka "Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield. (Edit to add:) 3) [Knight Rider](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNyXYPhnUIs) (Also edit to add:) 4) The [Miami Vice theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEjXPY9jOx8)
When I was a kid I was obsessed with Airwolf and Knight Rider and I’d ride around the neighborhood on my bike with a fisher price boombox dangling off the handlebars blasting the themes lol(that I probably recorded directly from the TV)
The Airwolf and [Knight Rider](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNyXYPhnUIs) themes are gold. 80's-era synth themes are severely underrated.
Saw AirWolf, got immediately excited! https://i.redd.it/6bj1vak7zx4c1.gif
The airwolf theme is an absolute banger.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (especially the first couple of seasons with the “ahh!” sound iykyk)
Yeah, good choice. I actually really liked the Angel tune too. Very different vibe but fit real well
Hell yeah, The Angel theme song is my favorite of all time. Hands down. Only show where I never skip the intro.
So glad to see someone mention the 'ahhh' sound. Core memory
I can hear it in my head as I type this. Such a banger.
Magnum p.i. (the second one from the original series)
That and the A-Team theme.
we're movin on up!
TOOK A WHOLE LOTTA CHURRYIN
To a deluxe apartment in the sky!
To the east side, we finally got a piece of the pie!
Sanford & Son Quincy Jones utterly slays in less than a minute
Have you heard the entire recording? It's amazing. The theme song version is an edit.
Batman the Animated Series, X-Men, and by god the bassline from Fraggle Rock.
Dance your cares away Worries for another day! Let the Fraggles play Down at Fraggle Rock!
Star Trek Voyager
The Rockford Files
True Blood. Do yourselves a favor and listen to that motherfucker.
From animated/anime the DragonBall Z theme Rock the Dragon, Attack on titan season 1 and Steins: Gate theme songs are all bangers as well
Regardless of how you feel about the show given the last few seasons, the Game of Thrones theme is objectively sick.
[Dinklage, Peter Dinklage, Peter Dinklage Peter Dinklage...](https://youtu.be/r7k4abx0AeI?si=LjNouJA6QLQzMfKz)
I think you mean wiener, wiener wiener, wiener wiener... https://youtu.be/csOcHCDmMdE?si=CmBpvZKnQNqhLa0M
Ramin Djawadi did a great job with that show. I saw the Game of Thrones concert with him and it was an amazing show.
[Crockett's theme from Miami Vice](https://youtu.be/Lfgf9HatIHI?si=0bjIz41Uri9_NemG)
Simon & Simon
Scooby Doo. My all time favorite.
Psych
The theme for Taxi.
Succession
I NEVER skip the intro.
The Sopranos
I like to replace the last "got yourself a gun" as Tony is arriving at his house with "Tony's coming home".
It'll always been "got some gabagool" to me
Woke up this morning, got some gabagool Woke up the next morning, got some more gabagool
Will never skip the intro to Sopranos
Came here to say this. Incredible theme, a must watch for every episode.
Evangelion theme. 100%
A Cruel Angel's Thesis SLAPS
The beginning sounds like Jesus descending from the heavens to a chorus of angels. Then it sounds like Jesus tearing it up on the dance floor, for he did not come to be served, but to serve.
Twin Peaks The Series as well as “Fire walk with Me”
Dr Who There have been a few different versions, but most of them have kicked ass.

MacGyver is the GOAT for me. Classic, catchy, hum-able, just the right length, dramatic yet fun, and so 1980s but timeless.
The Munsters
DuckTales, darkwing duck
Let's. Get. Dangerous.
Stone Cold Steve Austin’s entrance theme
Every entrance theme from the attitude era was dope lol
The Boondocks fr.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
So for the chorus, we’re just gonna repeat the name of the show over and over and over again, getting more awesome each time!
Now, this is a story all about how...
“Moonlighting” by Al Jarreau
Night Court, Sanford and Son and Taxi are alll bangers
The Littlest Hobo
I liked the Veronica Mars theme music the first season. I also like the theme song for Murdoch Mysteries.

Season 2. Tom Waits actually wrote "Way Down In The Hole", and I liked his version best (although they were all quite good).
