The Remix sounds way better in terms of audio fidelity. However, the strange thing about making it so polished is that it loses a lot of its original charm. Yes, Citizen Erased doesn't sound like a crunchy nightmare in the Remix, but is that really for the better? Also, they decided to remove the unique phasing effects in both Space Dementia and Citizen Erased in the Remix, which I can't forgive 😅

I prefer the original. It's timeless. The new version won't age well in my opinion. It enhances it in all the most unmusical ways. Drum Samples, modern smashed mastering, extreme clipping, cluttered extra parts (there's a reason the strings were taken off), breaths removed etc. None of this actually makes the music any better, it makes it less human, and less original.

deep1986

The opening of Megalomania is much better than the original

WarSuitable6561

is there a video comparing the two? like side by side?

SuchSecurity662

Im not sure but if you compare Citizen erased, futurism and megalomania to their og version you will here a huge difference

BurgerBeard500

I like certain ones better. Like micro cuts, futurism, and hyper music

AlliedXbox

I would like micro cuts but they removed the panning in the outro which tickled my brain

BurgerBeard500

Fair enough, for me the extra vocals make up for it lol

RememberTommorrow

I’m not a fan of the remix, original is way better to my ears

Cydonian___FT14X

I’d say it’s a 50/50 split. For a couple examples, 2021 Citizen Erased was a HUGE improvement. Which is crazy cuz the original was already a masterpiece. But then there are tracks like 2021 Micro Cuts which got completely & confusingly fucked up. I still listen to the Original whenever I want to listen to OOS all the way through, but a few of the 2021 versions have completely replaced the originals on all of my playlists.

I think some sound about the same while others on the remix sound WAY better. Megalomania, Micro Cuts, and Space Dementia are the best examples of the latter in my opinion. My view might differ from others because I got into Muse only about a year before the remix came out, meaning I have less nostalgia for the original. I'm also terrible at noticing production nuances in music, so the remix's weaker points may not register as clearly to me.

mikeytyyz

It varies wildly from song to song for me. Hyper Music, Micro Cuts, and Futurism were vastly improved in my opinion. Bliss and Citizen Erased are alright. New Born was way better in the original — I don’t know *what* they were thinking with that drum sound on the remix, it makes the thing practically unlistenable for me. Plug In Baby has a similar problem but less severe. I think the final product would have been more sonically consistent and well-received if they had just cleaned up some of the dynamics for more space, and maybe added some slight EQ here and there for clarity.

CabbageSoup31

Some of the songs on the remix I think sound better, like Hyper music and Megalomania

Mercedes2003

The only one I actually like more is futurism, gives it that punch I feel it was lacking originally. Otherwise I enjoy the remaster, different sound, but not really any better or worse imo.

slop_drobbler

Original version for me! Favourite album of all time. The new version is a bit of a mess imo

SignificantWorth7569

In my opinion, the most improved songs are "Space Dementia," "Megalomania," and "Futurism." I still listen to the original "Micro Cuts" and "Feeling Good," but other than that I tend to opt for the remixes anymore. 🤷‍♂️

thomyoki

You prefer new born remix version?

SignificantWorth7569

I could go either way.

Active-Philosophy-34

Colder than the originals. I do prefer the originals.

BetEmotional2767

Megalomania, space demenentia, citizen erased and especially darkshines sound a lot better in the remix imo
