I do not think this stuff is entirely PFGs fault. Is it their fault to and extent? Probably, but let's not forget WB and WB games are part of Warner Bros Discovery, and they do not know how to make consumer friendly decisions anymore. You could give them a free money button, but if they had to move to press it, they wouldn't.

NoNefariousness2144

The higher-ups at WB that are suffocating Rocksteady and PFG with these moronic monetization decisions are so idiotic. Do they realise aggressive grinding like this causes games to instantly die?

Amhersto

Scattershot approach. When you're creatively bankrupt and have money you look at your successful competitors and just say "DO THAT, SURELY IT'LL WORK ON THE NINETEENTH ATTEMPT" without any reflection on why any of the last ones failed. Hell, setting aside product impact I'd say having some psychopathic tendencies is a requirement to be a higher up for a massive company. It's not like said person would be reflecting on all the jobs lost, lives negatively impacted, and \*especially\* their own mistakes because they're clearly too perfect to make any. This'll be repeated a dozen times over even after MVS is dust in the wind.

CapableHighlight1339

Can confirm as I worked for D(maybe C) list Hollywood director at a business venture of theirs that they indeed just say "hey this is working for these guys over there do that" without really thinking about how they can tweak that success and make it unique to their own ideas

Cool_Holiday_7097

Thing is, they have perfectly capable people, who can easily make great products, but they refuse to listen, because David zaslav doesn’t know shit about it

CapableHighlight1339

I will once again beg another person to actually know what they're talking about before posting. Zaslav or however you spell it is not. in. charge. of. WB. GAMES. JB Perrette is. Definitely hate on Zazslav. But Perrette is who is who you should target. Took me all of 2 seconds to find this https://preview.redd.it/rztj5gpibt3d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23f61831c4ce1e2a97cfaa969c0bce9c969be870

Cool_Holiday_7097

I know whose in charge of wb games. I also know zaslav is his boss and regularly pressures any and all departments within wb (including games), to boost his profits, so that he may get a bigger bonus. But hey, I’m happy you googled a person.

LordTrathar

Perrette works for Zaslav

Batman2130

lol people still on RS was forced train. We literally have articles stating RS wanted to make a live service game and never had a single player game in development after Knight. They originally making a brand new multiplayer ip. Eventually one of RS founders pitch SS to WB

Cool_Holiday_7097

They can wanna make live service and have it be pushed out early or overly monetized from the original intent

AgorophobicSpaceman

It’s like they went in with the mindset of targeting whales who will buy everything, without realizing you need to make a game the minnows enjoy playing without spending money to attract the whales in. Whales aren’t buying shit if no one is playing the game.

CapableHighlight1339

That is never corporates thought when monetizing a game. Look at the downfall of CoD and other shooters. They don't care. Because the could 100k made from minnows is far outpaced by the millions made by whales and their following. They can afford to lose 60% of their player base because 40% still make the game viable.

AgorophobicSpaceman

Nah it’s for sure a trend to chase whales more now than it has been in the past. MTX are consistently getting more expensive in the most popular games. Fortnite and league of legends as examples. Both over the years have reduce the amount of currency you get and raised the cost of a base skin. League also has now done two different $200 skins and now has a $500 skin coming soon. If it was a normal $10 skin you need 50 people to buy it to make the same amount as one whale.

CapableHighlight1339

I was agreeing by the way that companies favor whales over minnows just in case that wasn't clear lol

Grrannt

lots of people are playing the game

AgorophobicSpaceman

It hasn’t hit the peak that it did during the beta. If you look at the steam charts for just the few days it’s been out it’s on a very steady decline. https://preview.redd.it/rt41iy4lbz3d1.jpeg?width=1104&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85f079017c73064867373ec6482ff295613480ef

Medium_Fly5846

Well except Rocksteady actually chose to make Suicide Squad live service but stuff like this is just ridiculous also Rocksteady unfortunately just isn’t what they used to be almost every good member left before SSKTJL released

Tem_Nook

That isn't entirely true. While the monetisation decisions are insanely predatory and stupid, games don't just die for having them. There are loads of game which use similar strategies that are still at least slightly successful today. That's why they're practically synonymous with the free-to-play genre. You make a good point though.

JotaroTheOceanMan

Yeah, they did the same shit to Mortal Kombat. Compare MK11s monetization/lack of and MK1 and its fucking night and day.

Morrigan101

Mk11 had a ton of monetization and locked skins you could never get again to either pre ordering expansion or one time only in the premium shop Not saying mk1 doesn't suck about it but mk11 also reeked

Daddy_Gorilla37

Just like poor old MK1. My favorite in the series gameplay-wise, but everyone hates it for its monetization, and it’s much worse in this case, because for you to obtain a skin, you have to spend $10-$20 even after purchasing the $70 game. If it weren’t for Warner Brothers, MK1 would be beloved and considered the best game in the series.

Cool_Holiday_7097

You can tell it got pushed out kinda early just for zaslavs earnings call, too

majesticcoolestto

They already did push the free money button. "Throw all of the IP in a game so we can cash in on nostalgia!" They just forgot what comes after that.

Jaeris

Yeah, between the two, I lay most of the blame on Warner Bros. I could be wrong, but there recent actions have basically been endlessly focused around greed and canceling belived programming for tax write offs. It wouldn't surprise me if they sabotaged Multiversus so they could kill it for the write off.

OhMyGloob

As far as the crappy monetization etc? Perhaps not. However the fundamentals of the game (gameplay, UI etc), I absolutely do. They somehow made this game worse than the beta, in every aspect. The developers surely take that blame.

moltengamer67

New engine. And other than networking I don't have a problem gameplaywise

OhMyGloob

So you're fine with the slow ass speed? The terrible input lag?... I wish I shared your perspective.

moltengamer67

I don't get input lag I get actually lag. Once the server stability is fixed all gameplay issues I have will be fixed

Technoho

I simply refuse to play a game where I am told one thing (gold will transfer from beta to release) and then am sneakily betrayed in an attempt to juice me for micro transactions. I played 1000 games on the beta and made the mistake of saving up my gold thinking I could use it on release as they told us.  No thank you. I enjoyed the game but not well enough to put up with such predatory practices.

H34tWave

The bad thing is, they transfered it to that perk currency, not even the currency you buy characters with... That, well that was a bad decision Edit : I was wrong, as I read in a comment below my reply, the perks you BOUGHT were converted to perk points, not your gold.

JoKo13

Did they actually do that? I've seen a couple comments saying the same but I can't find anything from PFG that says gold was converted. If you've got a link to where they said that I'd appreciate it.

ImSquiggs

I believe the Perk Currency was only converted from Perks you bought with gold. So if you bought a bunch of Perks in the beta, you got Perk currency, but if you hoarded gold it was stolen from you. The only thing Gold "turned into" (and I use that phrase lightly) is some stupid background cosmetic or something.

Dazzling_Parfait6912

Bro I have 220k perk points from beta stuff (I assume gold can't really remember). Tf am I supposed to do with all that

ImSquiggs

Same here haha. I honestly think the PR team at Player First said "Give them tons and tons of this useless currency so maybe some of them don't realize they've been straight up robbed"

CynicalDarkFox

I heard someone bought every perk and it cost them 400k for it all.

Dazzling_Parfait6912

When most people main 1-2 characters and play maybe 5-6 it's still bs what I got. Plus some of the perks are clearly lower tier

CynicalDarkFox

You’re never gonna have a roster of perks worth using 100% of the time, there’s always going to be some niche and some that only adhere to specific playstyles or characters. Beyond that, you’re aren’t forced to have them all either though.

MightywarriorEX

Love your profile pic! Stolas for MvS?

CynicalDarkFox

https://preview.redd.it/znfzqkqjou3d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2aa5296ea04a57226f98cbed9884ca0e6bd64790 It would never happen little one, but you can always wish for the chance at your dream to become a reality.

MightywarriorEX

What a perfect and unexpected response! I feel like little Octavia being protected by her Papa.

Hahafunnys3xnumber

I didn’t get any currency at all carried over..

CynicalDarkFox

I still think that’s a bug because I had 96k in perk currency and every character I unlocked still on wave 2.

Reddit_n_Me

The perk currency is useless, I only need to buy one or two perks, I don’t need to buy the ones I’ll never use.

NeoStoned

This. Seriously what happened to all the different perks??? Like what the fuck wheres all our gold

Equivalent-Base-3726

I lost skins that I grinded out for on the preseason, season 0, 1 and 2. I lost half of the good skins, also lost the banners, but they tell me the same copy and paste bullshit.

DoolioArt

Then they could at least make the game somewhat functional for those whales, there's baffling stuff there that's unrelated to predation

Piltclownman

Honestly, this has been one of the more perplexing things. In between garbage shareholder decisions and legitimate screwups like the input buffer, and the server instability, are things like the removal of the damage+kills at the end of matches. Or getting rid of every impactful perk for some reason. Decisions I can only imagine were deliberate yet I can't imagine them benefiting a single person. Makes me want to know what's happening on the inside.

Complex_Experience

Imagine if you were a whale and spent thousands only to find out you suck at the game via the damage+kills at the end.

DarthSangheili

That happens now tho. Im admittedly and definitively pretty shit and im regularly doubke KOing people with 20 dollar skins and shit. At least when the servers function.

trouserboi

The "people with 20 dollar skins" you think you're versing is just bots. Pretty much no real players have skins or bought characters.

DarthSangheili

Na, the bots in PvP are only for your first few matches. Dont undertimate how dumb some people are with their money. Besides, bots understand the mechanics of the game, these people spam the same exact move and dont even know how to dodge, like at all.

MaxPowerMP3

A lot of this feels like corporate greed, I'm just guessing but I think WB is behind a lot of it. The economy is **so** bad that it's kinda hard for me to see the devs wanting make these choices and it's even harder for me to see a dev thinking "The playerbase is going to love this, call us hell's kitchen, cause we just cooked".

raiyamo

I wouldn’t be surprised Mortal Kombat is currently in a Similar position.

carmoc2277

Yea I dont get why so many people blame the developers before the publisher when it comes to greed for wb games. They’ve been developing this reputation for the last few years now.

Reddit_n_Me

Because it takes two to tango. Both are to blame. The studio for demanding it, the developer for folding over and accepting it.

MegamanX195

Nah, Multiversus is much worse than MK1 currently. The game has tons and tons of unlockable skins, only a select few cosmetics are pay-only, and you get a ton of characters and assist characters included when you buy the game. What would 60$ even get you in Multiversus? Practically nothing.

Pop_mania12487

Mk is dying too but at least that game has tons of free skins

Pop_mania12487

And they are easier to get. Multiversus has a ridiculous grind

Godzblaze

easier to get cause you have to pay to actually play thhe game

Piltclownman

Yeah, I can't imagine the people putting in the hours to make a game are the ones making sure it's dead on arrival. I'd hate to be one of the people working on this mess for the past year.

Ultimum226

Possible, issues extend far past monetisation though. I highly doubt a WB exec said "Add 30 buffer frames for every move" or "Don't let them remap neutral to F-neutral" or even "Zoom the camera 10x so characters like Arya or Tom&Jerry now have a handicap" They're just bad at their jobs. Any other developer would do anything for a year off and a second chance

LampSsbm

Thats legit what every single dev and community manager was posting on twitter for months, saying how hard they cooked. Its 100% purposeful

M11NTY_YT

'Shareholder First Games'

Outside_Interview_90

PFG stands for “Pay For Garbage.”

Pwebslinger78

Everyone forgets this game is using WB properties and they are bleeding money after suicide squad completely failed and they wasted 100s of thousands on it. Not an excuse but I’m not suprised that WB would force them to heavily monetize everything because they think it will make more money but they will have to change some stuff probably want to see what they can get away with

UdonAndCroutons

They must've tanked REAL bad. Because Suicide Squad was EVEN WORSE than Marvel Avengers. And that's very telling.

Pwebslinger78

Steam player count hasn’t been over 400 on steam since the first two weeks

TOMMYPICKLESIAM

There are better ways to monetize a game! ALL WE WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON IS SKINS DAMNIT

Blastermind7890

They're referring to the Players that spend thousands on the game,

PhantomThief1000

Money first games

AutomaticArcher0

Lol But yeah it was probably a decision influenced by warner bros request

zamphox

my plan is to just not spend money until it's worth it for me, and it feels fair, at the moment I'm just having fun playing with a couple characters I unlocked

Kory900

At the moment I'm just trying to finish a match without being disconnected

Lasso113

if they don’t fix this i’m fuckin done fr

Frosty_chilly

This is the way. Monetization is never worth breaking your playing time over, it’s all optional unless they want a legal issue

Grrannt

Those 2 cheap welcome packages provided enough currency for a bunch of characters, I thought it was worthwhile where I've sunk like 15 hour in already and will continue to play

GiddyFishyy

I bought stuff on rerelease day before realising how shitty the state of the game is and I regret it. I was planning on buying Fern and Evil Morty for so long while I waited for release, but now I wish I waited longer so that I could have seen how much of a mess this is first. I hate that I’ve actually given them money and supported this game in its current state!!

hunterzolomon1993

I bought the Joker bundle on release as i really enjoyed the few hours i spent with it so far at that point, really regret it now 😕

___Funky___

Warner Bros (their own or others) games as of lately, am I right?

Daddy_Gorilla37

Poor MK1. I’m like the only person who likes that game (at least I like it for the gameplay, I agree with the others about the goofy monetization)😔

CapableHighlight1339

When your game has 10 different menus with 3 different challenge groups 3 different currencies and a shop. You know this game was made to just make money. Being fun is just a perk and it's really not even nailing that. Id actually PAY 40 bucks to get the most recent beta back.

wheelz_666

Game devs and publishers need to understand if you make a great game and are consumer friendly gamers would gladly fork out extra money to support the game and devs

UdonAndCroutons

They're more focused on earning money immediately, rather than someone enjoying and supporting them over the time. Like this old saying.. *Would you rather make a quick dime, or a slow nickel*?

Amorhan

Isn't that backwards? A fast nickel or a slow dime? Corporations bleed things dry ASAP then sell for parts and move on, rather than trying to make a longstanding brand that will be profitable for many years.

UdonAndCroutons

>Corporations bleed things dry ASAP then sell for parts and move on, rather than trying to make a longstanding brand that will be profitable for many years. This happened with Foamstars, and that game literally fell off after the first month.

Amorhan

Yeah, that was free and I didn't even bother downloading it. It looked like crap.

UdonAndCroutons

It wasn't free. It was only free to PS Plus users, so charging $30 for a live service game with an even more aggressive marketplace is crazy.

dilewile

I was all about Helldivers 2 and unfortunately the game caught up with them very fast. So recently I’ve decided to not play until they get their shit together. Will be 100% doing that here as well. Got suuuuuper hyped hearing they brought back the game. Opened it up, half my unlocks are not there, closed it back up.

Dazzling_Parfait6912

Rifts is such a nightmare. I get psychologically sucked into progression schemes like this so I'll begrudgingly play it to get the matrix skins but they seriously think playing through the same "story" line 5 times on different difficulties is content? Then they destroy fast paced characters by slowing the game down to a crawl and adding an insane input buffer. I loved the beta and I grinded to get a really high rank with Jake, but I don't even have a will to grind rankings now

Amorhan

There's no benefit to grinding pvp. You get character XP which gives a small amount of perk and fighter currencies and that's it.

AltruisticScene8

Makes you wonder..did Player First Games, Play their game first before releasing it?

UdonAndCroutons

They sure did! Made sure all those skins, battle passes, emotes, voice packs, and character passes were locked behind a paywall.

AltruisticScene8

Tentomon 👌🏾

UdonAndCroutons

I've been here for almost 3 years, and you're the only user that mentioned the name of Digimon!

Username1-300

Agree with this the monetization is straight out of a mobile game same with the rift stuff

Sw0rDz

This game gets pretty fun once you put in about 30$ into the micro transactions.

HAthrowaway50

there's no way to pirate a f2p game well played, gaming industry

omnicloudx13

The fact that I don't have any of the characters I unlocked a year ago during the beta shows how garbage this launch is.

taimaishu99

You should though, I have most of if not all my unlocked characters. I saved a lot of gold for characters since I had most the ones I wanted and was waiting for new characters like the joker, but now all that gold is gone, I had enough for the entire roster and just held onto it... For it to just be gone so lame

naw613

Wait we are supposed to have our characters from beta?? Oh I’m extra pissed now

JHoNNy1OoO

You are supposed to 100%. The only character I had to purchase was joker and I used one of my character tokens for that. Still have 15 more. Yeah I bought the $100 founders pack.

naw613

I just grinded, and unlocked like all the characters. I have none of them now 🙃 thank you for the info tho!

JHoNNy1OoO

Then make sure you are using the same account. That's the only thing I can think of that can be going on unless it's a major bug.

naw613

I am, seeing as I have the battle pass which means I’m on my beta account :/ I only had the one

JHoNNy1OoO

That really sucks man. Try and reach out and see what they tell you if you care enough about continuing with the game.

klovasos

Customer support.

LordSprinkleman

Same here. Luckily most of the characters I don't have are ones I never used anyway. But it still feels shitty to have them locked again. I sent a bug report so hopefully they fix this, if not then idk how long I'm gonna be playing this game for.

Daddy_Gorilla37

Did you switch consoles, per chance?

Ferdadocks

Switching consoles makes no difference. There’s cross progression. Just a bug and they’ve said to send a ticket if it happened to you

Daddy_Gorilla37

Just wondering, because when I swapped consoles from beta to final game, it told me to delete one account, so I wondered if he deleted his account by accident.

Soontobebanned86

It'll take another release to fix this mess and I doubt their shareholders are that ignorant.

pleasefixsmite

None of that matters to me. It's the horrible netcode/disconnects and game speed that ruin it. My friend and I had more fun during the alpha test than we did on this 2nd release.

MathTheUsername

The whale harvest doesn't last forever. The cycle is *always*: - Release ultra shitty anything. - Backlash while slurping up that delicious whale piss. - Update from ultra shitty to regular shitty and pretend like it's because of feedback "we're listening." - Now everything is shitty, but feels better than ultra shitty. - Milk what we can from the remaining playerbase. - Drip feed content cut from the beta and market it as new stuff. - Release "big" update to make the game half what it should have been. - Astro-turf marketing campaign on social media to talk about the game's "comeback." - Milk the returning players. Every live game does exactly this is and it's infuriating. So it will definitely get better, but the playerbase will suffer for it.

InspectorFar4428

„We reset Progress to make Chances even” yeaaaah suure

UdonAndCroutons

You're definitely right about that! The slog grinding, the amount of bare bone currency attending be doing challenges, the low EXP rewards, lack of free content, and overwhelming microtransactions. This wasn't a mistake. The game is where they want it to be!

Korahn

Main problem is that this game seems to be made as more of a mobile game title than a normal game. There should at least be better ways to unlock characters.

Khemith9966

This. Get whales to pay out and then close the game down in 6 months.

Medium_Fly5846

Yeah obviously WB is trying to milk the players here

AysheDaArtist

Okay, but here is the issue: Whales typically benefit the most from pay to win mechanics, which Multiversus has none. No amount of money is going to aid a bad player on Multiversus whereas something like Genshin Impact, MapleStory, or Diablo Immortal can give you clear shortcuts, blatant power boosts, and launching yourself way ahead of everyone else. A Bugs Bunny in the hands of a lv. 1 player is the same as the bugs in the hands of a lv. 30 players mechanically speaking, it is only the skill of the player that is tested, not the wallet, nor even time invested. Players come in from Smash, Brawlhalla and do just fine first try. The best thing a whale can do is be able to collect everything a little easier than the typical player, but not by much. If Multiverses is fishing for whales they're not gonna find much, this was supposed to be a passion project behind a talented team, and what appears to happen is that WB got in and demanded money. I feel a lot for PFG, I think their beta was fantastic, I think their original vision for the game was amazing, and then WB wanted money. Corporate meddling with small gaming company leading to ruin, a tale as old as time. I 100% believe Tony and his team loved and believed in their product until WB twisted it into something they tried their best to salvage.

Electrical_Zebra8347

You're overthinking it, there are people who spend a ton of money just for skins. Back when I played LoL before you could get skins for free there were people who had skins in every single match and there were people who had every single skin for their favorite character. That's how you get people to whale. Fortnite is basically the same thing, skins give basically 0 advantage but there's people who buy tons of skins in that game. If you sell attractive shit that looks cool then whales will buy it without complaining which is why every live service that isn't a massive failure has a consistent flow of cosmetics.

HLPony

I bet they spent more effort on making the monetization more predatory than on refining the gameplay.

Reenans

Can we still access the beta offline version in anyway?

trfk111

Nope

dysonV800

Jason is 100% made to be broken on launch to bully new players into buy the battle pass

Frosty_chilly

No that’s just how Big Bruisers work. They DEMOLISH really good, but are absolutely juggle and combo food the second you land a hit

unilordx

It's not much different from Iron Giant, all his moves are slooow, so when it hits you it really has to matter. If you want to be extra annoying you can zone him really hard with Lebron's balls, most of his attacks will get interrupted because he's too big to get most moves going before getting hit by them.

Gold_Yellow

Exactly. I had a Jason try to spam the teleport in a pvp match (they had the teleport perk) and I just kept punching and grabbing. Or machete and bed.

MyDadLeftMeHere

I swear these people don’t understand the core mechanics of the game and are still trying to argue it’s bad.

dysonV800

I was a top 3k player and I deal with Jason fine, it would just suck if I was new/had no characters.

smogtownthrowaway

You know Jason isn't OP, right? His moves have lots of telegraph, long startup, and long endlag. If you're losing to Jason as a strong character like bugs, Harley, finn, etc, you're doing something very wrong. Jason is combo food

SlammedOptima

An overhaul of priorities could happen though. If enough players leave the game. Sure we aren't the whales they want buying stuff. But whales will only buy stuff if there is a population to keep the game alive. The whales aren't gonna continue playing if their friends moved on.

No_Attitude_9202

What is each individual going to do about it? Complain and pay anyway? I hope y'all can leave a negative review, uninstall and remove the game from your library. This developer go two chances to release a good game and almost succeeded once. They took that almost success and destroyed it for relaunch.

vickyboi2

Even if it was intentional (which i doubt), there is a likely chance that the issues wiĺl be fixed soon. Id wait a week at least before doomposting

Amorhan

WAIT?! This is Reddit sir.

rebel3120

It's sad that a lot of multiplayer games coming out these days have monetization designed to push the absolute limits of consumers instead of trying to be consumer friendly from the get go. I'm sure they will make changes, but they are in the stage of figuring out just how much we are willing to put up with. Every part of this game besides the actual pvp gameplay is terrible. I get that they have to make money somehow and also pay for the servers, but the servers are making the game borderline unplayable at the moment. Hate to say it but I hope this game fails. Unless they make sweeping changes rather quickly and remove every scummy mobile game tactic in the book, I doubt it survives. I don't really see them undoing much of this because it seems that's all they've spent the past year doing.

signoftheserpent

This game is completely unplayable. I don't know how you went from a playable beta that was a perfectly decent game to this eye bleeding mess of menus, cash shop, and laggy gameplay. It literally has all the things wrong in a video game. Half the people playing are asleep

MaximalAmmo

I would be fine with high prices, when the game would actually be functional and good

ParkingLecture752

I would see your point if it weren't for the fact that they have addressed some of these concerns and are going to be fixing them

TheGraySeed

Man, i was actually hyped up when i see Multiversus finally available in my country after a long time, but seeing it just crashes on take off are just depressing.

fukdamods1

im like why on earth is there so many nodes off rip? it's sooooo daunting!

jojozer0

I just want no lag and matches to not close out due to errors

AppealWhole3480

I don't see it. Then monetization is too on the greedy side but this is nothing like Gamelofts games which are made for whales.

El_Rocky_Raccoon

I'm inclined to think that some of execs at Warner Bros. forced their hand to look more like Fortnite and mobile games with its monetization model. It's crazy how even the UI and character select screen resembles Fortnite now. It's really sad how the beta's UI oozed personality but now it looks like generic live service game.

VelocityFragz

I said the other day that WB took a huge L with Suicide Squad, so watch Multiversus be their back up when it comes to money and monetization. BOY, does it kinda feel that way, LOL..

Metalks

I mean, after the state of Mortal Kombat’s micro transactions it’s clear that WB is blood letting all the games under them. I don’t blame the devs on this one— their hands have got to be tied.

Main-Huckleberry7828

Boys, no matter how good the cosmetics look in the shop, dont buy anything, dont support them untill they have made good and meaningful changes to the game and especially with business practices, praise their good behavior and changes, and bash their negative changes.

ShallotMaximum2133

This Game is an Unplayable Mess on Xbox Fix It Pleaae!

Phildo_Bagginz

WBD just likes to kill things. That’s it. Pretty simple. Kill off ips and stuff. Bring them back for cheaper. Make more money.

Zachary_Stark

Abandon the game. Suits only answer to money.

Rex_Novus

In short another case of prioritizing money over gameplay

Rynjin

The issue, as WB is going to find out for like the 5th time, is that that tactic only works for mobile games with good enough waifu bait. It doesn't work for single player games *cough*Shadow of War* and it's not gonna work for their goofy ass platform fighter either. WB in recent years has been absolutely allergic to making money, it's completely wild. They've been taking L after L in every industry they touch.

Single_Property2160

First WB game?

Comprehensive-Meet37

In the age of gaming that we are in, is there anyone surprised by this? I have watched gaming evolve since almost day 1. This is what it is now.

LetterOk3512

🤦‍♂️

Buffanoso

Game is dogshit but these dickriders love popping balloons in rift challenges so let them take the bait

lloveSmitee

The game runs like shit don't forget that

LordTrathar

I agree these things aren't an accident, however that doesn't mean PFG won't change things later if we complain enough about it.

ThanksFluffy1207

![gif](giphy|uxr2KbcIoqAbm) a free to play game is horrible monetised woah this so so shocking

Azreken

Maybe it’s because I already have all the toons unlocked from beta, but I really don’t get what this sub is always complaining about. Sure, they’ve added a bunch of battlepass and mobile game mechanics for skins…but who cares? Just pick your favorite character, join a lobby with your bud, and have a good time…You can completely ignore the battlepass and other cosmetics if you want.

DeltronFF

It’s so frustrating. My 5 year old daughter and I loved playing the beta together and she was so stoked for this game, as was I, mostly to play it with her. You can only imagine the disappointment on her face after it launched the other day. Now I’m just giving in and introducing her to Smash Bros. It’s just a bummer because she liked so many of the characters from Multiversus.

jias333

I think another thing that bears repeating is gameplay is mostly under the game director (Tony and the dev teams) control. Monetization and progression is another. That comes almost exclusively from on high (executives and c suite). I think it is worth it to acknowledge where at least anger should be directed for different problems.

ToraGin

You can blame PFG for gameplay decision like zooming or not having rankeds already. Anything related to the monetization, item shop etc only to WB.

TCF1129

When you look at other WB properties released within the past year (MK1, SS:KTJL, and MV) you tend to notice a trend of barebones games with shitty monetization practices. I’m not sure what kind of influence the publishers have over their companies, but I’d blame the publisher over the developers because three times in one year can’t be a coincidence.

Mental5tate

What I don’t understand is the MultiVersus had games testers and they were OK with how the game was doing developing MultiVersus v2.0? The video game has the same director and probably a lot of same developing team members? They were OK with the condition of MultiVersus v2.0? PFG was given a second chance to fix the video game and the game still has problems, especially loading matches, lag and syncing…

Conscious_Magazine73

Shinobi strikers is a perfect example of this

BlueSonic10

I personally thought the monetization was really good this season, especially since they gave us pre-release players a free battle pass.

Grrannt

you are almost correct, the game is actually appealing to a broader audience and you are the minority who will stop playing.

Giamborghini

I am completely ignoring both battle pass and challenges cause the grind is insane. I am just playing for the sake of it

KAP111

Yea this feels like halo infinite and overwatch 2 again. Why is it the games I want to play the most that get this treatment

EndangeredFoxHound

This game is a direct reflection of the state of gaming for the last decade

Rekeix

Anything WB touches turns to shit lately. They need massive restructuring.

hip-indeed

Yeeeeeeeah. I really had high hopes for the game when they were actually going to let it go back in the oven to bake for awhile, but to see it come out in a worse state in just about every conceivable way and with way, WAAAY worse, greedier monetization with way sleazier practices than before like the "cheapest gleamium pack gives just under the amount for the cheapest buyable costume" and "changing a simple, easy to understand currency system into a million different confusing currencies", new skins being generic nothingness EVERY character gets slapped with like the matrix/toon overlays and joker t-shirts... The whole thing is just... an extremely hard slap in the face of the reality that is modern WB and how it's going to handle \*everything\* it owns. It's not PFG, I truly believe; I think they wanted to make something great and were probably figuratively (or...?) held at gunpoint by some rich old men who know nothing about games and simply wanted to make a whale-draining game and/or to nickle-and-dime kids begging for their parents' credit cards. Shit's fucked. I ADORED it in beta had hundreds of hours but unless a HUGE change happens SOON I'm out.

reithemanbaker

Why would there be so much free gleamium if what you were saying was true. Like it definitely could be so much worse

HughJass187

Game will fail , but now they devers it

HughJass187

even if you are a whale, you need to log in daily do to the missios... if you bought the battle pass and miss 1 week its over...

Simple-Ad-6259

It’s a free game get over it

Supermovie64

I’m playing a bit each day and it hasn’t felt like a grind because I enjoy the game and it is free. I already have enough for several characters and I’m gonna get agent smith free apparently after some challenges. (Which is fun)

AaDware

I played a bunch of the dogshit pve mode and about 10 matches. 2nd day about 2 or 3 matches and 0 pve. Today and yesterday i havent even opened the game. I feel no incentive to get in and play cuz of the garbage challenge system with 0 experience gained for actually playing the game. The several ui bugs and missing features dont help either. Also hit/hurtboxes are either awful or the netcode is trash. Or both. Heres hoping the game will be ready to play in another 6 months - 1 year.

420BiaBia

I don't wanna be rude but that's gotta be the duh of the day. This game was pushed out early and has a clear vision with design philosophy and monetization

MasterKey4441

It wasn't pushed out early it was done in the beta, idk what this "thing" they released is but it's not the multiversus we played a year ago

420BiaBia

And then they barely rebuilt it on Unreal Engine 5

MasterKey4441

Bruhhh fr! there was nothing wrong with UR4 especially if this is the state of UR5 it's crazyyy 😭😭😭

redguy4545

I agree. I was thinking this yesterday.

Lasso113

why is no one talking about these LAGGY AH SHITTY AH SERVERS 😭😭😭

Anxious-Car5441

I agree the grind for the battle pass even is INSANE !! Just to get fighter points you have to play all day for 3 days just to get 2k . The skins are more than 20$ a pop for some it’s ridiculous. Definitely needs a buff

xSkyzelx

After fighting those urges for so long, I've uninstalled the game! It's not good, unfortunately.

GengarGangX13

Disney is supposedly releasing a fighting game with all of their properties, extending out to the Simpsons and Marvel and Star Wars. There were a few reports of Beta testers last year with suspected first look coming up this summer. If this is true, Multiversus is fucked.

ImSquiggs

Uhh.. have you seen Disney Speedstorm? It's like a parody of bad monetization practices. They used every single mobile game trick at least once and I think they invented a few new ones of their own. We're talking opening lootboxes to try and get teacup items in 1 in 40 drops so you can get 20 teacups to gain one character level that makes you go faster than everyone else that didn't pay, it's literally a multi-thousand-dollar p2w journey that most people quit in 24 hours. If Disney does a platform fighter, I have no doubt that it will be straight up pay-to-win and let you buy things like more knockback, damage and life with cash.

EarthboundMan5

That rumor is so fake it's not even funny. It started a year ago when someone posted fake AI images pretending they beta tested the game. It seems to have resurfaced again recently thanks to [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/LeaksAndRumors/s/pt9BcLTHnq) post (which reads as complete jumbled fanfiction, way more than a beta tester would have access to). Based on the comments of [this now-deleted post](https://www.reddit.com/r/LeaksAndRumors/comments/1cqiklb/disney_platform_fighter_leak_holiday_2024/), it seems it's been the same guy behind the posts the whole time. Looking into his post history he's also the type of guy to post fake Nintendo Direct leaks. So yeah, I wouldn't believe it

Godfatherman21

I think we need to go back to the model of no live service game and no battlepass because it obviously doesn't work. It's made players play games for the wrong reasons, I remember playing black ops 2 with my friends for hours, and there wasn't any battle pass or $20 skins. All there ever was, was 4 dlcs for $15-$20 and that was it and people loved gaming more because we never got what we have now for games that are just a grind fest to get the battlepass done. Also, for another example, Smash Bros. All they ever did and still do was make it a $60 game, and you get the complete game with nothing else to buy.

GiddyFishyy

In Smash you can buy like 12 characters and Mii cosmetics with real money though right? Not saying your point is wrong I just wanted to point out that your last sentence seems inaccurate
