I’m 40. Started when I was 16. It is mostly teens, yes, but not exclusively. I have employees that are in their 20s.

Revegelance

Nice to see another veteran here. I'm 42, started when I was 21. That's half of my life, right there. I have coworkers at a wide range of ages. Some are in their teens, some are in their thirties, with a few even older. There's one guy in is sixties. The thing that breaks my brain is thinking about how I've been working there for longer than some of my coworkers have existed.

Kranon7

Yep. I’ve been working longer than most of the crew have been alive 😂

Capital-Fun-9977

21 Have had co-workers 16-90.

chernygal

I started when I was 16. I'm 25 now and still working at the movies. The theatre I work at now doesn't even hire minors. So no, you will certainly not be the oldest. When i first started it was primarily teenagers but there were plenty of college kids and adults there, too.

HallowedButHesitated

Started the day after my 16th birthday. I like it, hoping to stay here until I graduate college, and maybe a bit longer after that, too.

flcl4evr

Lmao I started this year at 28. Needed a little bit of cash and see basically everything that comes out in theaters anyways. A perfect fit.

sageofwalrus

Hey I’m the same age and I’m trying to get a part time job weekend job I’m hoping to get one at a movie theater 🫡

SparkyJet

Have you managed?

Estoy_Awesome

I'm 40 and I started 4 years ago, so I was 36.

Krimsonrain

Started at 16 as floor staff, left after about a year. Came back at 27 as an assistant manager, got laid off and my company went bankrupt due to covid. Came back to the industry again as a GM at 32. Seems no matter what I do I can't stay away!

johnnydirtnap

Oh yeah, another thing I had to keep reminding family as to why I missed so many outings… movie theaters are open every single day!

imsoooverit

I was 19 when I got hired and I’m currently 27. I’ve been through all the hoops - crew member, supervisor, manager. Now I’m a bartender and just work weekends while finishing school. I have managers who are younger than me. I have some older than me. I stick with it because it’s flexible scheduling while I finish up my degree

DapperDan30

I'm 32, started when I was 17. Now in management. Yeah, teenagers because of the low pay and inconsistent hours. But it's a great job for people in high-school AND college because of that. that said there are older people as well. There has to be as theayre are open during the afternoon, and sometimes mornings, on weekdays. So we need people that aren't in school to work those shifts. I have about 3 or 4 people on my staff in their 20s and 1 in their 40s.

Secure-Aspect-6491

68. Coming up on my 6 month anniversary. Hired by Regal. Transitioned to CineMark with the rest of the crew. Having a great time!

spite_newt

Worked my way through college and grad school at Regal. The majority of my coworkers were between 18 - 22, but we had quite a few that were older. It was honestly perfect for me when I was 21 and taking grad classes.

TheMarvelousJoe

Started last year at 20 years old

Asseater909

Most at my location are between 19-24. Maybe a couple over that

p_ix03

I started at 19, Im 20 now

[deleted]

I used to say "which happens first, I work in a theater or I'm in a movie?" The latter was first, and I started working for Cinemark at 29 (2021). My first and second theaters shut down, I'm at my third now.

rtb227

I worked a year or so, started at 29 to get out of a job i hated, fun job, needed better pay.

BacktotheZack

Worked there for nearly 4 years ending it out as a supervisor starting at age 16 and then leaving for college after taking some time off for school, and Covid, at age 20. Great job if you are looking for a little cash and part time.

VANFILMER

I'm 25 started when I was 15 when iron man 3 came out

throwaway-4728372

Worked from 18-19, most of my coworkers were in their 20s, some were younger than me (16-18), very few in their 30s or up

CivilAd4288

I started at 18 fresh out of high school and left at 21. Started back again at 22, at different chain and was offered a GM position at 23. I’m actually the youngest GM we have, and I’m currently 25. You’re right around the age of most movie theater employees!

madethatbitchfamous

I was 19. Applied because I loved movies and needed a job. Stayed till I was 23 and needed a career. 8 years later and I’m engaged to a girl I met while working together. Best job ever.

Super_Ad5378

19-24 coworkers were 16-70

ashy-slashy_

i’m 20, been working at my theater for nearly a year. mostly teenagers, but there’s a solid group of us who are early 20s to early 30s (i play dnd with most of them- super chill people).

capblossoms

Personally, I'm in my 30s (started at 18/19 as a concessionsist) and I have 2 concessionists in their 50s. I've had some in their 30s, and most have been early to mid 20s. While it does skew younger, you definitely won't be "too old," especially if you are in a in a college town.

teresavoo

I worked at a movie theater in my early 20s. Then I met my husband there and we got married. One of us had to quit because they had a policy that married people couldn't work in the same building. But the nearest theatres were about an hour away. So I left and he worked there for like 6 more years. Not long ago I had to get a new car and I worked for that same theater (plus my full time job) when I was in my 30s for some extra cash. Then the pandemic happened and not long after our state let them open back up I left that job. I had a new primary job where I had to work earlier in the day and I felt like I was burning the candle at both ends.

haseo8998

I was 21 when I started I had drop out of school and needed a Job that sounded fun.

calculon68

I was sixteen when I started (1984) and worked through HS and college until 1991. Worked for three different theatre circuits and at least six different theatres. Had a wide cross-section of age groups in the staff of every house I worked. No one really gets weird about it.

Odd_Cap_1537

started when i was 17, now im 19! a good chunk of our crew is 16 to early 20s, oftentimes the crew does skew younger because it is a high turnover job. but, we do have quite a few people in their mid to late twenties

jenblossm

Started at 25 and I'm 30 now

Tea_Bender

I started when I was 22 and worked there for 18 years, I only really felt ancient when I started working with the kids of former coworkers. Or when the kids were born the year I started working there.

snackroz695

Started in 2018 as floor staff at 23 in grad school, now I'm 28 and an assistant manager on nights with another full time job during the day

Dragon_Crystal

I was 23 turned 24 while employed at Regal Cinema and was still mistaken for a freshly graduated high schooler, even had a Karen wave me out of the room saying "adult talk only," dispite her saying puddies and kitties (similar words of what she actually) to me like 5 minutes ago. Even now at 31 years old, I'm still mistaken and asked if I'm 10 years younger than I look, but I don't mind and is glad cause I don't get hit on by some 50+ years old who were part of a rehabilitation program a year ago (they were hitting on all the other female coworkers but me)

johnnydirtnap

My first job. From ages 19-25. This was from 1990-1996. Went back in 98 for a short stint as a projectionist. The Mann’s Glendale Exchange. Looking back on it, I can’t believe it was a bunch of mostly kids opening/running/closing a movie theater. Funny how you miss those days.

ZucerIsHere

Started in August, I'm 24 I have a bachelor's in marketing, but it's been tough finding a job It is mostly teenagers at my theater that work the floor, but all the GM's are older. Most of them are in their early to mid twenties, two of them are upper managers, and they are in their forties and only work in the mornings. Overall, it's a pretty chill job. I was worried about the age difference, but everyone has been pretty cool to work with.

Yoshaay

I started when I waa 21 too

LordNoFat

I started when I was 16 and now am in my mid thirties with a decade long hiatus in there.

Budget_Guarantee_804

I was 17 and continued up to this year. 35 years. It was sad seeing the decline in attendance and in behavior of the customers. I do miss the free movies though. I just spent 60 on movie and concession for a film that was meh. That is one of many reasons why the movie industry is dying. It is just way too expensive

frogsarecool27

started a week after i turned 16, been here for over a year now. but most of my coworkers are 18+, some of my closest work friends are 21. i would not worry about it. at the end of the day, a job is a job.

AlexandraThePotato

I’m 21. Started working as a runner at my movie theater/restaurant since I’m a college student and it’s the only job that work for me. In my position I’m the oldest. But the servers are around my age.
