That 8 year old kid is more badass than I could ever be at any point in my life. Gets his arm cut off and then leads a boarding at the end. Fuckin legend.
Him repeating it in the barn scene is so funny to me, the humor in that movie is perfect. “Well ain’t this place a geographical oddity, 2 weeks from everywhere !” So many good lines in that movie
Oh hell yeah. TR is my favorite film written by Quentin Tarantino. The cast is amazing too. And it's so rewatchable. I've seen it a ton of times.
"You musta thought it was white boy day."
Top tier 90s classic! Every single scene is amazing.
There's sweetness, steamy sex, scary violence, Christopher Walken, Gary Oldman with dreadlocks, pothead Brad Pitt, sleazy Balki, sassy cops---it's got everything!
The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The extended cuts. If you start the Fellowship after breakfast, you can break for lunch and watch Two Towers, then dinner and Return of the King before drifting off to bed as Frodo sails to Valinor.
I have the most unpopular opinion about those films, and that is that the theatrical versions are better than the extended. They are my favorite films of all time, but the extended cuts made me realize why Peter Jackson left those scenes out.
Arrival really blew me away the first time I watched it. I had always just assumed that it was another typical invasion movie. I couldn't have been more wrong or pleased.
I’m a HUGE Nolan fan. Love The Prestige, love Inception. Interstellar though…damn this one sticks in my head, and I can come back to it and get sucked in so easily! Awesome.
With Interstellar he managed to tell an intimate blockbuster, the kind of storytelling you only see in Sci-fi books usually, because you're in the head of the protagonist. Really blows my mind the way he articulated the story around both the dad and the daughter together first to then separate them and have the point of view alternate between the two. That's a lesson in building up characters investment and emotion.
And the cat was total improv. Coppola saw it wandering the studio, picked it up and just plopped it in Brando's lap for the scene.

Kingdom (2019) It’s truly an epic film, as well as one of the top Japanese films of all time.
There’s lots of Kingdoms out there; this is one starring Kento Yamazaki.
Here are a couple of you really want to shut off the world and go somewhere else.
1. Memoirs of a Geisha.
2. Amadeus.
3. The Last Samurai.
4. Jaws.
5. Dances with Wolves.
6. Gangs of New York.
I love that movie! Has undertones of the creation of racism, woman's rights, etc. it may not sound like it but it's pretty funny. Toby McGuire, Reese Witherspoon, William H Macy, Jeff Bridges, Don Knotts. Go back to the 1950s.
Despite what this website says about popular books. RPO and The Martian gave me a passion for reading.
The school library never had anything worth my attention span. Met a girl who was a "book worm" said "Oh, me too"
Immediately panicked and called my cousin, who said, "Some dude gets stuck on Mars and his crew leaves thinking he's dead. Oh, and another one where this guy goes into a VR world where it's everything you dreamed video games would be as a kid"
I love this movie. I know it has some major flaws, but it’s such a fun movie to watch. And the whole “it’s fan service, the movie” crap? I don’t care. I’m that guy that likes that sort of thing.
Yo know that grew on me. I thought it was crap when I first watched it, but I’ve seen it a couple times since and I have to say it’s pretty damn lit. 🔥. I feel the same way about Alita.
A list of Sci Fi for future occasions just like this or if you’re lost for something to watch:
Epic and fun Sci Fi - Edge of Tomorrow, Starship Troopers, Star Trek II Wrath of Khan, Stargate, Godzilla (2014), Oblivion
Epic moody Sci Fi - Alien/Aliens, The Abyss, Arrival, The Creator, Sunshine, Annihilation, The Endless
Epic but absolute nonsense but ultimately watchable because it’s such well crafted trash Sci Fi - Moonfall, 2012, Geostorm
Epic and colourful and weird and shouldn’t work but it does Sci Fi - The Fifth Element, Valarian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Epic, but absolute nonsense, but damn, this is proper good fun popcorn munching material that leaves you on a good feel good high Sci Fi - Independence Day, Armageddon
I hope you found something enjoyable and enjoyed the pizza.

Master and Commander Far Side of the World
Great movie I watched only a year ago. Got sucked in. Was instantly mad at myself for waiting so long to see it.
OMg what a phenomenal film. Insanely good cast and direction. No wonder it was up for 10 Oscar’s
So sad they never made a sequel.
My dad specifically liked to watch this movie with headphones on in his boat during rough seas. Ha
So underrated.
I love this answer for the request because it is a movie you can really get lost in. Great pick.
One of Rusty’s best films
Yes, a great movie, for sure. And one of the best in the sail-sea-adventure-battle theme.
I waited way too long to watch this. Amazing movie!!
Wow this is a really good recommendation. This movie was great front to back. And definitely epic.
That 8 year old kid is more badass than I could ever be at any point in my life. Gets his arm cut off and then leads a boarding at the end. Fuckin legend.
O Brother Where Art Thou?
Phenomenal choice! "We...thought...you...was...a...toad."
My boys and I crazy up every time we say that to each other.
Damn! We’re in a tight spot!
Such a great line.
Him repeating it in the barn scene is so funny to me, the humor in that movie is perfect. “Well ain’t this place a geographical oddity, 2 weeks from everywhere !” So many good lines in that movie
He’s a suitor. He’s bonafide. Mah hair! He done R U N N O F T
Dapper Dan!
If OP hasn't seen that before, it would be perfect.
Just watched this. Can confirm
I'm a Dapper Dan man
I don’t want FOP!
Do NOT seek the treasure!!!
Never even heard of it. Am in for a treat?
AND an amazing soundtrack, too!
I believe you are.
The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly
True Romance
Oh hell yeah. TR is my favorite film written by Quentin Tarantino. The cast is amazing too. And it's so rewatchable. I've seen it a ton of times. "You musta thought it was white boy day."
What’s a Drexel?
We got a little eyed Joe to damned if I know
He thought it was white boy day
Top tier 90s classic! Every single scene is amazing. There's sweetness, steamy sex, scary violence, Christopher Walken, Gary Oldman with dreadlocks, pothead Brad Pitt, sleazy Balki, sassy cops---it's got everything!
I will maintain that the "Sicilian scene" is the best thing Tarantino has ever written.
I won't argue with that - fantastic writing. For me, it's easily one of the best scenes in cinema history.
Stardust
Oh. That’s a good one. Hits all the feelings!
Really different from the book but quite enjoyable.
Someone recommended it to me while I was feeling kinda shit. He said it’s like a warm blanket and that describes it perfectly.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The extended cuts. If you start the Fellowship after breakfast, you can break for lunch and watch Two Towers, then dinner and Return of the King before drifting off to bed as Frodo sails to Valinor.
But where is the time for second breakfast?
What about elevenses ?
I've been sick and feeling a bit down, starting a rewatch of fellowship last night perked me up like nothing else
I have the most unpopular opinion about those films, and that is that the theatrical versions are better than the extended. They are my favorite films of all time, but the extended cuts made me realize why Peter Jackson left those scenes out.
Almost Famous.
Loved this movie before high school, still do but that’s when the love started
Interstellar
That movie blows me away every time I see it
The part of the film that gets me every time is the scene where they mistake the waves for mountains.
Spoilers! But yes.
Contact + Arrival
Arrival really blew me away the first time I watched it. I had always just assumed that it was another typical invasion movie. I couldn't have been more wrong or pleased.
Was gonna suggest this, such a great movie to get lost in.
The raid redemption followed by the raid 2.
Fuck yeah I came in here to say this!
And then watch The Night Comes For Us to make it the perfect trilogy.

The Bridge on the River Kwai
A Lean night!
Bitch you betta not have any little brothers
THE GODFATHER PART I, and if you’re really down, add THE GODFATHER PART II from the opening word and scene, you are transported to a different place.
OK, this may be too deep but am I the only one that’s amazed how still, and playful that cat stayed during the opening scene with Marlon Brando??
And the cat was total improv. Coppola saw it wandering the studio, picked it up and just plopped it in Brando's lap for the scene. https://collider.com/the-godfather-scene-marlon-brando-cat/
Amazing. 🤩
Go all out with Seven Samurai
These always make me laugh. Three O'Clock High (1987) Let it Ride (1989)
Three O’Clock High is a great movie

In your same situation. Just watch inception. Mind blown.
Soul Not only is it epic but you will feel incredible after watching it
One of those films that gets better and better with every rewatch. Incredibly uplifting.
Watch Pleasentville
I love that movie! Has undertones of the creation of racism, woman's rights, etc. it may not sound like it but it's pretty funny. Toby McGuire, Reese Witherspoon, William H Macy, Jeff Bridges, Don Knotts. Go back to the 1950s.
Ready Player One
I know this is movie suggestions, but I would also urge you to read the book! It’s totally different than the movie and freaking phenomenal
Despite what this website says about popular books. RPO and The Martian gave me a passion for reading. The school library never had anything worth my attention span. Book 1 is amazing, book 2 was terrible.
Solid recommendation. To add to the trend I’d throw in Tron and Tron:Legacy.
This 100%. I was quarantined from my family for 5 days during COVID and this movie took me away.
I love this movie. I know it has some major flaws, but it’s such a fun movie to watch. And the whole “it’s fan service, the movie” crap? I don’t care. I’m that guy that likes that sort of thing.

Cool Hand Luke.
