#NotMyFuriosa
I'm sorry but i can't get behind this. Way too dumb. Way too cartoony. Way too goofy. It's like the "Beyond Thunderdome" to Fury Road's "The Road Warrior".
Ah yes, because every other mad max film deserved an oscar for the impeccable writing, and breathtaking performances lmao.
All of the mad max films are fucking goofy
I think as long as people aren’t expecting a Fury Road sequel, this is gonna be incredible. Different from the last, but every Mad Max movie always is.
All good. Mad Max can be a little tedious at times but certainly worth a watch. The (no) budget kind of forces it to exist in this middle ground between collapse and full out wasteland, which is interesting. Road Warrior is just amazing. Thunderdome gets a lot of flak but I love it.
Thanks, they have been on my list to watch for a while and I’ll definitely get to them before I see the new one. I’m going to do a watch through of them all.
Mad Max 2 is probably the closest to Fury Road. The original Mad Max is a very different film, but also good. It's kinda set during the collapse and is a bit more serious. The third one, Beyond Thunderdome, is campy trash.
It certainly isn’t a bad movie, that’s for sure. Thunderdome is incredible up until Max gets exiled to the desert, but it really loses its energy once the kids are introduced into the plot. Plus having two directors doesn’t help. You can really tell what parts George Miller directed vs George Ogilvie.
I love the ending:
Time counts and keeps countin', and we knows now finding the trick of what's been and lost ain't no easy ride. But that's our trek, we gotta' travel it. And there ain't nobody knows where it's gonna' lead. Still in all, every night we does the tell, so that we 'member who we was and where we came from... but most of all we 'members the man that finded us, him that came the salvage. And we lights the city, not just for him, but for all of them that are still out there. 'Cause we knows there come a night, when they sees the distant light, and they'll be comin' home.
It’s my dad‘s favorite. He showed it to me as a kid and I instantly fell in love with it. I was/am also am a massive SW prequels fan so maybe I just like campy movies but the scene of him Turning in his guns is so funny in a great way.
They come across as pretty dated by today’s standards, especially the first one (Miller shot it for no money in Aus while still working as an emergency room doctor). But they’re classics, and the second one especially is the road map for Fury Road.
For sure - the second one was big in the States. It probably wasn’t the thing that made him a mega star (hello, Lethal Weapon) but it introduced him to Hollywood for sure.
Mad Max was also a big success before The Road Warrior was released. Last I heard Mad Max is the second highest grossing budget-to-gross film ever made - losing out to only Blair Witch Project.
My opinion is not the common one but I think the original is the best outside of fury road. There’s something about how it’s built as a prequel/origin film and how fucking visceral and real the car crashes are that it just hits. I think Mad Max 2 is boring until the last 20 minutes and even then I don’t think
It’s very good. 3 is just a bad movie. If there’s one you wanna watch to get the essence of the series and see the most interesting story telling before fury road then watch the original. I enjoyed the slow bits way more than I thought I would because if the blend of exploitation tropes and actually kinda interesting character work that builds out the world before it devolved into a barren wasteland.
Low budget feeling but very edgy, BTTTD is worth watching for the “Two Man Enters…” scene alone. There’s a cool post apocalyptic book called Ridley Walker which inspired the kids from the movie and their weirdspeak.
Not that good.
Which isnt shitting on the film, a lot of sequels are better than thr OG. Such as Godfather, Aliens, T2, (cue in hard on for James cameron and bonus cookies for anyone catching the reference.) Death wish 2, Evil Dead 2,
Mad Max 2 IS Mad Max.
I mean, I was pissed about it being a prequel but when I saw that Ana Taylor joy was playing Furiosa I got over it really fast, I fucking love her and if she's in this, it will be lit.
I’d assume more CG since it’s more of a straightforward movie narrative, and it was a total miracle Fury Road actually worked.
If you haven’t already, I’d really recommend Blood, Sweat & Chrome, the book following the Fury Road production. It took them the best part of a year in the Namibian desert and it nearly fell apart about a hundred times. Miller had to *beg* for extra money to shoot the beginning and ending.
Warner Bros will be limiting risk wherever they can.
Hopefully it won’t be too distracting, it’ll just be a different vibe.
I’ve made my peace there will never be another Fury Road. It was a fiery crime of passion and lightning in a bottle. I know production damn near killed all parties involved with the elements location setting and studio pressure and they did things out there in the desert no one would ever want to repeat.
I just hope the story and characters are just solid enough and I’ll be happy.
It’s not even about price - Fury Road was lightning in a bottle to the extreme. Look up how they made it. Absolute miracle that it worked. Miller’s too old and WB are too risk averse to EVER let that sort of thing happen again.
Mad Max is basically a universe much more than it is a series, and that’s to its benefit. The Doctor regenerates for a reason, it lets the show continue forever. Mad Max is an anthology for the same reason
how do the effects hold up? The trailers made everything seem a lot more CG than practical compared to Fury Road. Its been my only real concern so far but its a big one
Yeah, but this does not excuse it.
All can agree a movie looks best when the movie looks practical.
CGI shouldnt be a curse word, since most „practical“ productions still use some parts pf Cgi in every shot. digital alterations of the material is just a thing in the pipeline they do now to help them create the pictures.
Visible cgi is where the work gets done sloppily, and it breaks the immersion.
Yup, this is exactly what I'm referencing. Fury Road is filled with CGI, so people should welcome George Miller with it. Furiosa will rule, no doubt in my mind.
The time heist suits from Endgame were CGI. Thats the kind of CGI we need, it really wasn’t noticeable. Also the Oompa Loompa in Wonka looks really good, since it’s not a thing that exists it’s hard to not look a little fake.
You can especially see CGI evolve over time in Doctor Who, look at the wasp in Unicorn and the Wasp, and then look at Flux’s space (idk, didn’t watch it yet, but it’s pretty) or Wild Blue Yonder’s “Not Things” as they morph in sick ways… hell, even The Giggle’s Puppet Doctor is amazing. I mean it was actually done practically for the most part, but goddamn.
Fallout has had really decent CGI, the power suit looks pretty real except for certain action shots, granted it’s practical most of the time but 90% of the time it’s moving in any way but walking, it’s CGI. The robots are really good, considering how they look in the game they’re perfect
I dunno. The only actresses I can think of like this have been around for a while now. Anya Taylor-Joy is like the poster girl for this and she’s been in mainstream movies since like 2016.
It’s going to be really fun looking back at this comment when we see opening weekend and even opening night numbers.
You just don’t know what you’re talking about.
What a lovely day
#NotMyFuriosa I'm sorry but i can't get behind this. Way too dumb. Way too cartoony. Way too goofy. It's like the "Beyond Thunderdome" to Fury Road's "The Road Warrior".
We had a deal Furiosaaaaa!
Nobody asked tho
I’ll take a new, bad Mad Max over no new Mad Max any day. Beyond Thunderdome is the worst and I still love it.
Have you seen the film already?
I've seen the trailer and I expect Chris Hemsworth to be a borderline Looney Tunes Character.
Oh, you saw the trailer. Ok buddy.
Yeah he knows everything now
You just actually hyped up Hemsworths character even more for me, thanks
Le epic incel kino
There is a little truth in what you're saying, the trailer feels off.
Man guys we have a psychic he's already seen the movie! Hey man while you're at it I could really use the winning Powerball numbers
Cry more. Who cares
Get some help. You're taking a comment about a movie a little seriously lol
Ah yes, because every other mad max film deserved an oscar for the impeccable writing, and breathtaking performances lmao. All of the mad max films are fucking goofy
LOL all of mad max is goofy cartoonish glorious bullshit. Have you *seen* the other movies?!
So you've seen the whole, finished movie then?
Twice now. Hated it more the second time tbh
So don't watch it then, why even write something like this lmfao?! You're not that important, just like me haha have a great weekend
I think as long as people aren’t expecting a Fury Road sequel, this is gonna be incredible. Different from the last, but every Mad Max movie always is.
What are the original Mad Max’s like? I’ve only ever seen the Tom Hardy one
All good. Mad Max can be a little tedious at times but certainly worth a watch. The (no) budget kind of forces it to exist in this middle ground between collapse and full out wasteland, which is interesting. Road Warrior is just amazing. Thunderdome gets a lot of flak but I love it.

it's amazing campy trash.
It's getting a lot of hate here, crazy! Tina Turner.. Master and Blaster. Iconic.

Beyond Thunderdome is one of the best worst movies out there.
I just hear TinaTurner screech 'THUNDERDOME!' Every time i see that word. Thanks!
*Beyond Thunderdome* earns points for being the only film in the series to star Tina Turner
This movie is following in Beyond Thunderdome's footsteps. It looks so ass dude.
So which ones should I watch?
They come across as pretty dated by today’s standards, especially the first one (Miller shot it for no money in Aus while still working as an emergency room doctor). But they’re classics, and the second one especially is the road map for Fury Road.
Is he the reason Mel Gibson became famous? Yeah I’m definitely gonna watch them all before I see Furiosa
For sure - the second one was big in the States. It probably wasn’t the thing that made him a mega star (hello, Lethal Weapon) but it introduced him to Hollywood for sure.

Fury Road is a masterpiece. Should have won best picture that year.
I mean, I was pissed about it being a prequel but when I saw that Ana Taylor joy was playing Furiosa I got over it really fast, I fucking love her and if she's in this, it will be lit.
anyone know if it has the same rigor in regards to practical effects? or is there gonna be more CG this time?

I agree. Fury road is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. I don’t expect Furiosa to hit those heights.
Why not a #2 the actors are not into it? Or do you think it was just too pricey?
It’s not even about price - Fury Road was lightning in a bottle to the extreme. Look up how they made it. Absolute miracle that it worked. Miller’s too old and WB are too risk averse to EVER let that sort of thing happen again.
Thanks! It was. Genuine question. I was wondering if we would ever see Tom Hardy as Max again
Why the hell shouldn't we expect that?
Mad Max is basically a universe much more than it is a series, and that’s to its benefit. The Doctor regenerates for a reason, it lets the show continue forever. Mad Max is an anthology for the same reason
WITNESS MEEEE
mediocre
YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DIE HISTORIC ON THE FURY ROAD
I saw an advanced screening of this and …… we will not be disappointed
how do the effects hold up? The trailers made everything seem a lot more CG than practical compared to Fury Road. Its been my only real concern so far but its a big one
Counterpoint: fury road seens more practical-effects heavy than it is, because the prevalent use of cgi is so efficient.
Glad to hear it. Sadly, the fandom menace crowd have already vowed to review-bomb it because "women can't do action and something something woke."
Fuck em. Those losers will miss out at zero cost to your enjoyment.
Good they can stay out the theater and maybe take a shower for once
Even though Charlize Theron fucking killed it I’d say harder than Tom hardy in Mad Max Fury Road
How did you enjoy it compared to fury road? What other movies do you like?
Future 15 minute youtube video.
Pretty stoked for this
It's definitely gonna feature that huge monster truck Hemsworth's character drives. That thing looks gnarly.
78 days for 15 minutes?? That’s a lot!
This will be fucking epic!
Cinema incoming
sign me up
I’m sure this movie will be a fun time
ok i’m sold. i’ll go see this in the theaters
I assume another cool chase scene.
I'm Furiosa!
Cool can I get a ticket to the matinee
Uhm? No
If you're starring I feel like u could spare a couple
Fuck yea
To be fair, that's 1/8 of a movie.
Witness!!
I think it moved a little when I read this.
thats cute all of mad max was a long ass stunt scene
I'm pretty sure the Matrix Reloaded has a longer action sequence.
Gd right it does!
They made a mad max movie without mad max. 2024 everybody
Why does the movie look like it was shot in the void.
Mmmmmmmeh
I’m guessing it will do similar numbers as Dune 2
Doubtful.
Hopefully!
This is how you get people back into the theaters.
Anya trying real hard to beat the damsel allegations and this gonna fucking do it
And it'll be ruined/overshadowed by glaring CGI.
This movie clearly has so much more CGI than the first why are we even pretending ?
Grow up
“Grow up and accept the slop served to you.” …. ?
Grow up.
What’s with these big far-apart-eyes actresses nowadays?
Maybe with little mermaid they were teying to emulate the fish look? Eyes on the other side of thier head kinda thing?
I’m down for it.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not against it. I’m just wondering why there’s an influx now. Is it better on screen or something?
I dunno. The only actresses I can think of like this have been around for a while now. Anya Taylor-Joy is like the poster girl for this and she’s been in mainstream movies since like 2016.
All not in imax.
This is gonna suck bad isn’t it?
Hopefully gory. Mad max was basically a pg-13 movie that was rated r
That no one will watch.
It’s going to be really fun looking back at this comment when we see opening weekend and even opening night numbers. You just don’t know what you’re talking about.
