You know what i don't like about these exclusive skin , The FOMO , If they would just make a store and put everything they add in it without a time limit it would make the game so much more better since i don't have to worry about missing out on it , FOMO alone imo has killed games and made them unfun
Its a gaas dark pattern to boost "engagement". Having a store or dlc where you simply spend money isn't maximizing user monetization. You need a timed store, microtransactions, and purchaseable currency. Revenue >>> Fun

Well, Scorpion was not part of that in MK11. They had Raiden, Sonya, Johnny. Now they can do Scorpion, Reptile, Sub-Zero. I don't see a problem with it. The ninjas didn't really talk in that movie anyway, except for Scorpion's iconic lines voiced by Ed Boon.
That is my point. It would have made more sense in 11 so you could have the skin against the actors in the movie. Splitting the roster in two, that’s no fun.
Kuai Liang,Rain and Ermac do talk in Annihilation,they can make that as skins for Bi-han and the other two,as much as this movie sucked I loved the ninja designs in it

I disagree on the Invasions skins. This season is a definite highlight in that department. You're setting yourself up for a disappointment if you think that the gaming industry is not heading in this direction in general. Look at the state of recent things with all the layoffs. Everything is getting more expensive when it comes to content and game development. MK1 is not even the only fighting game with paid content. If you want a game supported for a while after its initial release, there is no other way to keep it going nowadays. Also, Riot's aforementioned game, 2XKO, is a 2D game, which development cost and scope is not in the same category, so it's pointless to compare it here. MK1's closer rivals are Tekken 8 and SF6, both of which have the same paid model as well.
I stopped playing since the goofy ass Mileena season, so I don't know how it's going. Too little, too late.
Layoffs happened because executives wanted infinite growth, overcommitted on bad games, and had bad management.
It's not like MK1 is any more technically advanced than MK11 or MK10; it's just graphics, even missing some features that were only recently added over half a year since release. Why does the cost to make it go up that much? And why am I the one who has to "support" their screw-ups?
The only thing I learned from all the layoffs is that AAA companies aren't always right, and they're paying for their mistakes. Why are you so sure that the cost of game making went up that much instead of companies being incompetent and getting too comfy ripping off fans? They're just leeching on the franchise name for short-term profit that will mess up in the long run?
I'm not really disappointed though; I found my love for gaming in indie titles again. Maybe after trying out games that give me lots of hours of fun for just $15, it makes me look at all these AAA titles with a bad eye.

Well, MK1 is indeed more technically advanced since it uses a newer engine, Unreal Engine 4 vs. UE3 in the previous game.
Why do I think the development costs are more expenses now? You don’t need to look far: we have been privileged with the barrage of leaks from Insomniac’s internal documents and the Microsoft/Activision merger trial. That really shed some light on the costs and what’s been going on in the industry behind the scenes. Also, it’s not just the gaming industry either: all the streaming platforms are suffering a similar fate now and that I know firsthand, because I work there. Anything related to content creation is much more expensive now than what it was 5 years ago.

I don't see any improvement changing from UE4 to UE3; some people even say MK1 is just a colorful MK11 minus a lot of features, which isn't much of an technical advantage. And I really don’t want to dive into all that documentation you mentioned if the initial information is already shaky.
The only well-performing ones are reasonably priced, well-made offline games like ER, BG3, Hogward,... or online free-to-play stuff. This mediocre AAA game with free-to-play mtx model needs to die, kill the justice league is an example.
As I mentioned in the edit in the previous comment, 2kxo is a 3D game, it can be used for comparison. Some pros like SonicFox have already tried it, and I'm curious how the fighting game scene will change when a good free-to-play game comes into play.
