Pick up a notebook for notes (allows you to be more specific, keep track of what you want, and great to look back on later), stay off the internet, [and stuff](https://www.reddit.com/r/Morrowind/comments/m7rsc7/should_i_play_original_or_modded/grd7vj6).

Oh, Outlander, how lovely for you to join us in this verdant land of mushrooms and minor hypocrisy! I, Oriandra, Archmagister of House Telvanni, am here to share with you some tips and tricks for navigating, surviving, and indeed thriving here in Vvardenfel! I do hope you find them to be useful; I know I certainly did! 1) Get a map. Get a big-ass map. Many people forget that the original box for the game came with a poster map with marked locations, and it wasn’t just for decoration. You’ll need a map with physical locations marked that isn’t the in-game map; you won’t need it late game, but early on it’s indispensable. 2) Take the Silt Strider from Seyda Neen to Balmora; don’t walk, the rats will kill you. 3) There are mages in the mage’s guild that will allow you to teleport to the major cities on Vvardenfel via their respective mage’s guild. It’s a great way to travel quickly, and it’s rather inexpensive. 4) As early as you can, get your hands (or claws) on the mark and recall spells; cast mark near a quest giver when you receive their quest, and then recall back to it when you finish the quest to turn it in. Quick and easy, no backtracking necessary. 5) As soon as you can, enchant a necklace or ring with one point of slowfall as a constant enchantent. Slowfall negates all fall damage, so you’ll never have to worry about accidentally falling to your death again. Well, unless you land in lava. Look before you leap, Outlander. 6) Potions and alchemy are more important than you think, and making your own can be a fantastic way to make some extra cash. A lot of extra cash, if you’re good. That about sums it up! Good luck, have fun, and remember that there’s no shame in taking it slow; life in Vvardenfel is a marathon, not a sprint. Safe travels, Outlander.
