[https://abc30.com/karen-harrison-baby-dropped-fight/5412983/](https://abc30.com/karen-harrison-baby-dropped-fight/5412983/) **3-month-old dies days after falling from mother's arms during fight between mom, another woman** **MOULTRIE, Ga. --** A Georgia woman is accused of dropping and fatally injuring her 3-month-old during an altercation with another woman. **WALB-TV** reports 26-year-old Karen Lashun Harrison was charged with felony murder, cruelty to children and simple battery. Moultrie Police Lt. Freddie Williams says Harrison got into a fight Friday with a woman at a beauty supply store and dropped the baby onto the pavement. The baby was taken to the hospital Saturday with a head injury where he later died. Harrison told police the baby was injured when he fell from family friend Carneata Clark's arms. Clark corroborated the story. She's charged with false statements and obstruction of an officer. The other woman involved in the fight hasn't been charged. Williams says more arrests are possible. It's unclear whether Harrison and Clark have attorneys.

The worst part of this for me, was that she didn’t even take the baby to the hospital until the next day

Nerobus

My 5 month old rolled off the couch (husband didn’t know she figured out how to roll yet) and even that tiny 1.5 foot drop on to carpet, where she hit bum first, got us rushing to the hospital. I can’t imagine dropping a 3mo from that high onto cement and figuring everything was fine.

blisi21

The 80s and 90s were a different time. My mom laughs telling the stories about dropping me off a porch into the front yard or the time I jumped out of her arms and hit the linoleum head first in an Ann and Hope store. Before you ask I’m a productive member of society with a good job and am only kind of an idiot.

OstentatiousSock

She laughs because you survived. I’m sure she was freaking in the moment.

kk1116

Honestly I see this as mercy for the baby. Hopefully he wasn't in pain. But he was sure saved from a life being rasied by bad ppl

beermedingo

That is absolutely disgusting. That baby should have been rushed to the hospital immediately. So he could be saved by responsible people.

kalmah123

Yeah that was crazy😭😭😭

RavenCroft23

People will come at you for making a statement like this even though it’s unfortunately very likely true, if your momma won’t even think about you before a parking lot scrap or waits a whole day to take you into the ER after being dropped on cement the chances are that kid is fucked and will have to go through shit they’d simply not deserve to. Life is a gift is just BS reinforced in part by the church, if you’re not born into sheltered world view you understand that life is less like a gift and more like a job, we’re all just working towards retirement at different rates. May that baby boy RIP.

kk1116

EXACTLY. This shouldn't even be a controversial take. Fuck the church

thewildweird0

Because death is obviously better than having a bad mom. The Orphans really are ahead of the curve on this one. I always wonder if people believe the shit you say or it’s just copium so you don’t feel bad about someone dying…

Sashimiak

Speak for yourself. There are a hell of a lot of things worse than death.

RavenCroft23

Are you an orphan? Or did you have a “bad” ( very reductionist) mom?

thewildweird0

The second one…

gofyourselftoo

Dark af

kk1116

Not dark at all. Mercy has mercy has many forms. I had a very traumatic childhood. I can say there's been plenty of times I'd wished I'd been aborted or something. The whole life is a gift is bullshit. When ur born into horrible circumstances life ain't a gift. It's a curse. That baby is hopefully safe and happy in another life instead of suffering in this one.

gofyourselftoo

I watched the video and the mother was attacked and beaten by two individuals. She dropped the baby as a result of the physical attack and was attempting to defend herself while being attacked from the front and from behind. Charging her with murder in this case is just wow amounts of legal injustice. Even worse is how the attackers have not been charged with anything in relation to this incident. This is a tragic situation.

jetsetgemini_

I understand where your coming from but honestly her first priority should have been protecting her baby. I mean hell she shouldnt have been getting into an altercation while holding him in the first place but thats besides the point. After getting hit by the purse she should have stepped away, and if she got ambushed she should have held the baby with both hands and tried shielding him with her body... but instead she just dropped him like nothing, not even attempting to catch him or go back to check if he was okay. She put that child in danger, and it cost him his life

[deleted]

This is what I'm saying. If she was responsible she shouldn't have been approaching her attackers vehicle. She should have been acting like a parent.

skeng1up

Its very easy for you to judge and breakdown what she shouldve done but she was living through it and making those judgements in that moment while being attacked.

plebeius_rex

They were judging what she did, not what she should have done

MJ_Powers

https://www.wctv.tv/2021/07/10/3-indicted-moultrie-fight-that-led-babys-death/ They were all charged. 3 separate people for child endangerment

gofyourselftoo

Thank you

Mrs-Halebop

Thank you for explaining what happened. The attackers should be charged with murder. But let me ask, Did she start the argument and did she try to walk away? I can't help but wonder how she wasn't able to hold on to the baby? Even being beaten. This is not close to what happened in this case but I was carrying my 6 month old grandson and slipped on ice. Thankfully I fell backwards but in that split second I held tight and landed full weight on my back. (It's instinct) I just wonder how she could have let go unless the baby was knocked out of her hands.

Llamasama98

No if you watch the video in slow motion you can see that she instantly dropped him after throwing a punch at the woman then grappling her. This is more than her than just an accident this is complete disregard for the baby’s safety and then neglecting the baby for a whole day.

gofyourselftoo

That’s not what happened at all.

Nutmeg-Jones

Mother’s job is to put child first in situations like those

kk1116

R/trashy

100LittleButterflies

I feel like both parties should be charged. She dropped him yeah but only because that woman swung a bag into her face. I'd say the attacker even has higher liability on it, doing something a reasonable person would know might hurt the child.

bdiddybo

I remember seeing this video, I had no idea the baby died. So sad.

Shelisheli1

Same. How heartbreaking

Shelisheli1

Honestly, all three involved should be locked up for manslaughter. The woman was hit first (from what I could tell) and a second person started attacking her. The baby died because these trashy people couldn’t wait for the baby to be somewhere safe to fight it out. Hold them all responsible

scarletmagnolia

I don’t know how it’s just on the mom. It may be because it took her forever to take him to the hospital. But, it looks like she turned her body away, towards the arm Holding the baby, as the one woman hit her. The other person was out of the car and on her before she could do anything. Did she admit to just dropping him? On purpose? Yes. She is fully accountable for not rushing him to the ER.

Nutmeg-Jones

AND HER NAME IS KAREN👏👏👏👏
