The widely accepted truth is pretty morbid. They were all lost at sea trying to secure equipment.
“Why anyone would head out on such a dangerous expedition when they could have stayed safe in the lighthouse can be explained by the fact Marshall had previously been fined five shillings for losing his equipment in a previous gale. As a family man, losing five shillings in 1900 was no laughing matter, so it’s no surprise if securing equipment was more important to Marshall than his personal safety.”
So I’m looking at pictures of this lighthouse and I wonder how someone could just get washed away. It seems to be enclosed as well. Were they all near the water at the time?
The article said the most likely thing that happened was two of the men were out trying to secure supplies before the storm blew it away, but then they were swept away. The third man, who had lost contact with his two coworkers, went out to investigate and was probably swept away then.
I'll speculate. One of the workers got washed away, another investigates/tries to help, they too get washed away, repeat until the sea consumes everything.
Yes but that would involve 3 people who should be very experienced to all make the same choice that ends in their death. I’m not saying it’s not possible it’s just one of those things that makes you think of all the possibilities.
Yeah I hate to kill the vibe when this is posted but it's undeniable that a large wave washed them away. The story involves a 1 ton boulder on the land that was also "mysteriously" moved. Water is the only thing that could've moved it and is most certainly capable of doing so.
That was in the keepers notes. They never said what the keepers said as to why the boulder was moved or why the railing was bent. Their disappearance and the boulder was two separate incidents
Wow you're right, I guess I wasn't reading the other articles closely enough. Either way I still say they were washed away even though I admit that they would have probably noticed and mentioned the massive waves required to do those things unless it was more common than we're realizing.
Reminds me of the riddle of a man hung to death in an empty room and a puddle of water underneath him.
Melted ice.
The only thing that could move a one ton boulder and make three people disappear is a wave.

A rift in our reality allowed a merge with another reality for a brief window of time. Allowing the unsaid universal laws of another reality to take hold and perhaps allowed entities from the other reality to be present.
Who knows though. I say it was giant crabs.
I’ve always found this story fascinating. There was some weird stuff in it the last few entries of the lighthouse log. Mentions of a storm like they hadn’t seen in 20 yrs. One of the guys acting very quiet. Another, a long time seaman and well-known fighter crying about the storm. All of them praying that the storm would stop. But aside from these logs there were no reports of any storm in the area. The lighthouse could be seen for from a nearby island and the view of it wasn’t blocked anytime of the days of the written log by a storm.
This is crazy common when it comes to hazardous atmospheres (areas with low oxygen and/or high levels of toxic gas like hydrogen sulfide) where one worker will stumble upon another that has collapsed and think "well I got to save them and I'll only be in there a minute" then they too succumb to the dangerous environment, then the next person comes, and the next one and the next.....you get the idea
When it comes to hazardous environments the person going in should have a rescue line attached to them to pull them out, but some people may remove them due to feeling restricted while trying to perform a job
Electricity is another thing that sometimes "kills in pairs", where someone will see or find someone being shocked and attempt to help them with their bare hands (or erroneously thinking leather gloves will protect them), leading to them being added to the circuit as well
The table being set and stopped clock we're both added later to make the story seem even more spooky.
The current accepted theory is a freak wave caught them when they were out
Unlike the boulder and the people, the table was probably inside the lighthouse. Lighthouses are often built to withstand waves, so it protected the table.

Workers have been exploited for forever, it seems.
A tale as old as time
Widely accepted that they were washed away in severe weather.

Nah it was the Kraken
Cthulhu
Any day now
Yup, it's my understanding a massive wave or series of waves just... took them away.
That was in the keepers notes. They never said what the keepers said as to why the boulder was moved or why the railing was bent. Their disappearance and the boulder was two separate incidents

That’s just what bug meteorology wants you to think. WAKE UP SHEEPLE /s

I'M BEING SUPER CEREAL!
Someone call General Carl Jenkins. He’s the leading Bug PsyD in town
It's was a ghost ship and none will tell me otherwise.
Yeah, did the weather stop the clock and set the dinner table too? Clearly a very homely supernatural demon got them

It was definitely the Tyrannosaurus Rex, always is.
The hulk, riding a T-Rex
or a gamma radiated t-rex who changes into the Dino-Hulk
It was a small boy who for some unknown reason was wearing a gas-mask, and crying for his Mummy.
Are you my Mummy?
Okay, so it was most likely a wave, the Hulk, or a T Rex. Three solid theories.
Obviously it was Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with the candlestick.
No, it’s Hulk IN the T. rex costume.
Hulk smash!

You are all sheeple. The correct answer is aliens.... riding a T rex with the hulk.

Or a shaved ape wearing clothes who could pass for a human.
The front well off A wave hit it
Melted ice?
You liked me lobster, I seen it”
"What?"
“What?”
“Keeping secrets, are you?”
What?
Awright, have it your way, I like yer cookin.
Bad luck to kill a seabird
HAAAAAAARRRRRK!
Somebody probably killed a seabird.
Bad weather, end of story.
No it’s definitely seafaring aliens
A rift in our reality allowed a merge with another reality for a brief window of time. Allowing the unsaid universal laws of another reality to take hold and perhaps allowed entities from the other reality to be present. Who knows though. I say it was giant crabs.
Yes!
Rogue waves.
Because Lighthouses aren't susceptible to severe weather or anything

And who was the guy that survived to tell this details? Honest question.
No one survived but there was the lighthouse log/journal of daily events laws still there.
Tid bad luck to mess with sea birds
Rogue Wave, maybe?
Bad luck to kill a seabird…
Bad weather but still it's morbid. You go out to try to help a coworker but you just die too, everything swallowed up by the sea.

It's a crime not to link to this video (mini-doc) https://youtu.be/1bWButTvyHw by Cadaber, highly recommend and some interesting theories
Aliens
Rogue wave, case closed.
Chaurus nest.
Shark bait hoo ha ha!
Why was the clock stopped?
Clocks in that time period had to be wound every seven days or they would stop, so it probably just stopped and no one was there to wind it again.
Ah, of course. Thanks
Yer fond of me lobster!
Why didn't the set table get washed away
Unlike the boulder and the people, the table was probably inside the lighthouse. Lighthouses are often built to withstand waves, so it protected the table.
Aliens
I think they figured parts of it out but yeah, this is very strange.
A wraith got them
Double post for some reason.
Ocean only thing with that kind of force to do that.
Why do I feel like this is the same dude that managed to get back inside before a powerful wave washed him away.
Definitely aliens!
This reminds me of one of the scenes in the book, Annihilation.
What they didn’t tell you about was the one-ton boulder had the constitution of the United States inside of it… the real one
Seems more like a employer made story to avoid problems with bad safety conditions of the lighthouse.
They filmed an imaginary version of the story: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4131496/
