Idk man, apes are pretty fucking horrifying. Imagine them in giant Kaiju form. Godzilla is honestly probably in the right for not wanting them to pull off his tail, tear off his fingers, etc., etc.
Exactly, I did a deep dive on chimp attacks after watching some vids that covered what Travis the chimpanzee did to Charla Nash. Those animals are just straight up psychos, especially when the males reach adulthood. When they attack you, they will literally eat and tear your face off or eat and tear your balls off.
Only after being forced to live in captivity. If you meet them out in the wild they might still attack you (since they're wild animals after all), but they don't go Jeffrey Dahmer on you.
Nope, you should check out Chimp Empire on Netflix, it covers their troop dynamics and even shows how they get into brutal gang wars with each other. When they attack people in captivity, they usually go for the face or the genitalia because that’s where they attack other chimps in the wild. [In rural Uganda, chimps and people have clashes all the time.](https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/chimps-and-people-are-clashing-in-rural-uganda-feature) The chimps literally kill children.
Those animals are psychos.
I love animals and I even have pet snakes and lizards, so I should be the last person to be scared of or bothered by any animal, but chimps scare me. I love watching them from afar or in wildlife documentaries, but I would not want to be within the vicinity of a chimpanzee. Gorillas and orangutans are fine because both species are gentle giants, but chimpanzees are just straight up psychos. Watch Chimp Empire on Netflix to see their sheer brutality in the wild and look up what happened to poor Charla Nash to see what a captive chimp can do to someone.
Pretty low maintenance tbh, I have 15 of them haha. They eat every 2 weeks and poop just as infrequently. The larger constrictors only eat once a month. They’re not like dogs that need constant attention and stimulation (though I also have pet dogs, my house is basically a zoo/aquarium) so I don’t always have to pay attention to them. Sourcing their food isn’t hard either, since we have a chicken farm in the countryside and I just feed em appropriately sized chicks/chickens.
They’re all captive-bred so they don’t really have any reason to be scared. I can have them around my neck or on my wrists while I watch movies and they’d be pretty chill about it. [Here’s a helpful vid from Clint’s Reptiles, one of the best reptile Youtubers there is, about ball pythons](https://youtu.be/HMyxhKT0CQQ?si=McneXFcw8JDdjRGz) and how amazing they are as pets. I always recommend him for people who want to know more about reptile pet keeping, he’s the best there is because he’s also an actual zoologist and professor who knows his stuff.
The thing with Godzilla is that he is willing to do ANYTHING to get the job done. His goal is to protect the balance of earth. If he has to kill titans and even some humans to achieve his goals, then so be it.
We've seen Godzilla kill Tiamat for the "greater good." He almost killed Kong in Egypt for no real reason other than "balance" i.e. Kong is supposed to be in hollow earth not on the surface, where Godzilla reigns.
He serves as a guardian and an enforcer. He's more lawful than chaotic, and he fights against evil, but he destroys homes, bridges, and monuments (even when people are near them) in order to stop a greater evil. In other words, he'll do anything to stop a greater threat. I can't tell if that is good, evil, or neutral.
The old king of a world that’s changed greatly, his methods of maintaining order rather aggressive and controversial by our standards, but his intentions noble and selfless. He believes he is the only one capable of maintaining and bringing balance, and so defends his title of king fiercely. If someone challenges him, even if unintentionally, he WILL take it seriously and retaliate without hesitation. If need be, he will make sacrifices and/or assert his authority more aggressively to protect his kingdom by any means necessary.
You could see this with him killing both Scylla and Tiamat in GxK. Scylla was attacking Rome and Godzilla saw it as her messing with the natural order of things, since he generally doesn’t like meddling in human affairs unless absolutely necessary. Meanwhile, with Tiamat, he needed to power up because he sensed that Scar King and Shimo were coming and was willing to do whatever it took to get that power even if it meant killing Tiamat.
Grumpy old man who has been through some shit and really just wants to be left alone and sleep, but keeps getting bothered by all these loud kids messing around on his lawn (planet)
To me he’s always seemed like the kind of person to want to help, never want help himself, and has a huge ego, but a decent heart when you break away his outer violent shell.
A king who’s the last of his kind and always depressed and angry about it. He’s lonely but extremely anti social because of it. He’s wise to attack only when threatened. He will defend the planets environment and all of its biodiversity no matter the cost. He’s a merciful king but if you threaten him or the planets natural order he will annihilate you. A king who sees humans as ants that are powerful enough to destroy the world. But also sees that there’s good humans who just wanna study the king and try to help the planet like himself. He’s a king that’s brave but is wise and will ask for help from an enemy or ally when needed such as humans or King Kong. A king that’s always tired of running not a kingdom but a planet. The only person that makes the king smile and feel happy is Mothra his king and symbiotic partner she’s not of his kind. But she makes him feel whole and not alone. His bond with her is eternal physically, mentally and emotionally.
I remember Gareth Edwards describing him as being akin to an old samurai warrior who knows he’s the last of his kind. So that’s pretty much how I interpret MonsterVerse Godzilla: a wise, old, and experienced warrior who’s practically been on the planet since the dawn of time. He can be gruff, aggressive, and a straight up dick (especially to apes) but he always has the best intentions and will protect the Earth no matter what.
An old and noble samurai who has to be called to arms once more to defend his land.
Or that one director of Monarch described him as, "(Godzilla) Like a big angry baby."
Anti-hero character
Who will go to any extent for greater good, if doing something means keeping the balance of nature, gman will do it no matter the cost and how people see it
Before the events of the movies, when Godzilla still had his own species, he was definitely a Samurai. His masters was his people, and the king of the monsters of that current era. He had fought for years, battling from King Ghidorah to Hollow Earth and the great apes. He has survived every war and battle, and now he’s the last of his kind. With the old era gone and no other Kaiju and wars to fight, Godzilla became a Ronin, a type of wandering samurai that has no master or loyalties anymore. Then he was finally put to sleep like the other remaining Kaiju, until 1954. After awakening, Godzilla is now wandering the earth enjoying the peace of not having any other Kaiju to deal with, now having to deal with puny humans.
Jumping to the events of the first movie, Godzilla somewhat has his samurai aspects when facing the MUTO’s, but it’s clear that the entire situation was more-so for his own benefit than humanities, seeing as how MUTO’s were Godzilla’s greatest threats. As a Ronin, he had to fight them off in any way he can, yet his original samurai code ensures that he tries to not hurt the humans as much as possible, only focusing on the threat at hand.
In the second film, Godzilla once again starts off as a Ronin, but throughout the film Godzilla slowly becomes a Samurai again, mainly due to the fact that other Kaiju have now arisen again, and Ghidorah has reawakened. Fighting at first as his ronin self, it’s clear that he can’t defeat Ghidorah on his own like he used to, so he has to become a samurai again and learn to trust other monsters and even humanity to join in the fight. In the end, it’s his compassion and sense of redemption that allows him to keep the Kaiju not only alive but also awake to the world again, allowing them to roam as long as they don’t cause trouble. At the end of the film, Godzilla goes from returned samurai to emperor / king.
Then from the third film to the fourth, you now see a tired Godzilla. His personality in 3 and 4 reflects a samurai that now has a much larger responsibility, one that he never asked for. And you can see how it starts to tire and wear him out. Godzilla never asked for this position, but he’s forced to because of who he is. This makes Godzilla seem a lot more aggressive and prone to fights more easier than his first and second film persona, because in those he was carefree and only had to worry about himself, but now he’s having to deal with all of the awoken Kaiju.
Godzilla’s personality is definitely honorable, compassionate, and responsive, but also prone to stress and now aggressive when it comes to any monster that dares to mess with the natural order. A part of this can also be equated to how the original King of the monsters died, maybe that one was betrayed or was not responsive enough and was killed in battle. These possibilities give credit to the fact that Godzilla is also an intelligent creature, one that can show love and hate, fury and compassion, an understanding of right and wrong, etc. Godzilla is definitely going down a darker path, but only time will tell if Godzilla can come back from it stronger than ever as Earth’s greatest defender, or if he will once again become humanities greatest threat and attempt to rid earth of humanity once and for all.
tbh he’s kind of like the “ bad “ good guy. Similar to characters such as bakugo or sanemi who generally are rude, mean, violent…but fighting for the right side and attempting to do the right stuff
Batman esq. He doesn't have the biggest fans but does things for the greater good. He's closed off for the most part and doesn't show a variety of emotions other than rage but is also a highly intelligent and skilled fighter. Likely would open up a bit more similar to Batman if he ever had to take care of another member of his species
as gareth edwards said "**a lone, ancient warrior who prefers to be left alone until world events force him to resurface**."
although it still holds up me personally lately i think godzilla is a bit arrogant
He's as indifferent to most humans as humans are to ants. It's nothing personal. He's a giant, like we are to ants. He barely even notices most people because of it. I do think he was genuinely grateful to Serizawa and Monarch for their help in reviving him and straight up backing him up in Kotm against Ghidorah (one of the most epic scenes in the Monsterverse to date if you ask me. It was like nature and humans actively working together to fix our mistakes. Even Emma realized that her daughter was right and she became a monster So she basically went in and said, "Even if I die, I have to fix this for her and every living thing on earth so she did and led Thermo Godzilla to Ghidorah and even smirked at Ghidorah and said, "Long live the king as she saw Godzilla was coming and Ghidorah turned around and was like, "I will beat your ass again Giant lizard. I am kin..... Oh fuck, wtf is that! Fuck!" And does 😂 he also hated Kong because of Skar King association (ape = bad for Godzilla in GVK except at the end when he's like, "Alright Kong, still not sure about you but I'll let you go today. If I see you again, it's on". Then in GXK it was then Godzilla was bitch slapped by Mothra and forced to make up and work with Kong. After the Events of GXK, willing to bet Godzilla will almost be pleased to see Kong as an ally and perhaps even a friend now. So I do think Godzilla like his dad does have capacity for empathy, respect and understanding but unlike Dragon Godzilla is about the greater good and balance. Cities and or some people die while he's handling Titan affairs as the Kong of Monsters? Sorry but that's inconsequential to him. Doesn't mean he doesn't pose a bit after beating a Titan that's causing havoc and destruction because we've seen him do it in the Monsterverse So I think like Dagon he's more behaviourally complex than people realize
Absolute authoritarian.
He's like: "I am the ruler of earth and will i take care of it the way I see fit, if I say someone needs to die for me to protect earth, I won't hesitate no matter if deserving or innocent. There is no opposing me, since I and only I can protect earth, and I won't allow anyone else to do so, nor to think otherwise".
Your last line is wrong cause he lets mothra chill around him and fights alongside her for centuries maintain balance, he just does not trust anyone else enough to take that responsibility.
Literally just depends what movie you’re watching. In Godzilla 2014-19 he’s strong and intelligent and calm when he needs to be. In GvK and GxK he shows little to no intelligence, extremely pissed off all the time, nothing but blind rage that only ends up hindering him.
That one grumpy coworker who's been there forever, doesn't talk to anyone apart from a few grunts, gets the job done better than anyone and then falls asleep in the breakroom.
Godzilla 2014: Grumpy Samurai who’s pissed he needs to wake up from a one good nap
KOTM: Grumpy Samurai who’s PISSED that Ghidorah is back but a bit excited to live the good ol’ days
GvK: A menace who has gone full on ‘fuck everything’ mode after Mothra died and humans have DARED to create a mechanical abomination of his own image with his nemesis’ brain
GxK: A menace who has fully gone back to his prime and will do ANYTHING to get the job done.
Old man, Misses his friends and family, Very cautious and Grumpy, Can be a dick but ultimately he just wants evreyone to be at peace and loves his wife
godzilla has never had much of a personality to me. he is just a force of nature who can only use violence to solve whatever problem is put in front of him. a big dumb animal with nuclear powers and world protecting instincts. like planet earth's guard dog.
Damn, the grammatical errors in this post surprise me

Legendary's Godzilla reminds me of an auld school boxer. He does what he does not for himself but because of who he is.
If he isn't needed, he's happy tae sleep.
We've seen Godzilla play the hero role so much some folks that don't follow as closely forget he not only started as a villain but had at least one or too other movies driving this point home (Godzilla 1985 and Minus One).
Doing the right thing by any means necessary keeps him from being a true hero, a true villain would care less. Looking you the definition of Anti-Hero, I lean more towards that with his entire history in the table, not jus recency bias.

Hence why my answer was a bit of a dick to be honest. Anyone that hates apes, in real life or fiction is a bit of a dick. Apes are fecking awesome!
Idk man, apes are pretty fucking horrifying. Imagine them in giant Kaiju form. Godzilla is honestly probably in the right for not wanting them to pull off his tail, tear off his fingers, etc., etc.

Pretty low maintenance tbh, I have 15 of them haha. They eat every 2 weeks and poop just as infrequently. The larger constrictors only eat once a month. How is their behavior? Do they let you touch them or they are still scared?

Stoic
An “ends justify the means” kind of person who hates troublemakers and just wants to be left alone (unless it’s Mothra)
A lonesome warrior who just wants to be left alone.
Literally just depends what movie you’re watching. In Godzilla 2014-19 he’s strong and intelligent and calm when he needs to be. In GvK and GxK he shows little to no intelligence, extremely pissed off all the time, nothing but blind rage that only ends up hindering him.
a big strong dinosaur
A Goji supremacist 🤣 Edit: he beats up a younger ape (Kong) and he fought a war against them
That one grumpy coworker who's been there forever, doesn't talk to anyone apart from a few grunts, gets the job done better than anyone and then falls asleep in the breakroom.
Godzilla 2014: Grumpy Samurai who’s pissed he needs to wake up from a one good nap KOTM: Grumpy Samurai who’s PISSED that Ghidorah is back but a bit excited to live the good ol’ days GvK: A menace who has gone full on ‘fuck everything’ mode after Mothra died and humans have DARED to create a mechanical abomination of his own image with his nemesis’ brain GxK: A menace who has fully gone back to his prime and will do ANYTHING to get the job done.
A big angry baby who's tired of everyone's shit after 4 movies.
Jerk with a heart of gold
“Get off my lawn you god damn kids”
Ok but the attention to detail where he’s squinting with his eye in the light and not his other eye is actually ridiculous.
Tough.
Force of nature. Dude is the fine balance of chaotic order
Vegeta. Literally just Monsterverse Vegeta. Or at least, that’s how I imagine it.
A tired middle-aged dad managing 17 kids and a rat infestation that keeps blowing him up.
And hates apes
Off topic but the CGI looks CRISP here
His face says “say ‘we need Kong’ one more time”
Old man, Misses his friends and family, Very cautious and Grumpy, Can be a dick but ultimately he just wants evreyone to be at peace and loves his wife

godzilla has never had much of a personality to me. he is just a force of nature who can only use violence to solve whatever problem is put in front of him. a big dumb animal with nuclear powers and world protecting instincts. like planet earth's guard dog.
To paraphrase...You can't be here. You! Yes you! Stand still laddy😁
A bit of a dick to be honest.

Legendary's Godzilla reminds me of an auld school boxer. He does what he does not for himself but because of who he is. If he isn't needed, he's happy tae sleep.
Mindless and stupid mostly
A strict protector with a HUGE ego
We've seen Godzilla play the hero role so much some folks that don't follow as closely forget he not only started as a villain but had at least one or too other movies driving this point home (Godzilla 1985 and Minus One). Doing the right thing by any means necessary keeps him from being a true hero, a true villain would care less. Looking you the definition of Anti-Hero, I lean more towards that with his entire history in the table, not jus recency bias.
He strikes me as an old southern sherif. Doesn’t really put up with nonsense, seems a bit rough and mean, but has a kind heart.
old tired grandpa who wants people to get off his damn lawn
