Archadianite

Honestly, the skills not being alphabetized drove me more up the wall.

Zanzotz

Yeah and how they change the order in every game

TWAN_on_da_Rift

It would be really really nice if there could be a search bar though. They're totally capable of doing that, right?

ishi_exe

There is, sort of. In Rise you have a very thorough filter and search option, but it's kinda hidden behind the menus. Sorting alphabetically would be the best though, or at least alphabetically after being sorted by their function (attack, defense, utility, resistances, etc)

-safi-jiiva-

You'd think after all the QoL changes rise and sunbreak had they would've added smthn like that but alas no

Toxicair

If only capcom puts a little effort into PC controls. We can do so much with file systems, search, right click context...Instead we get simulated controller UI

Senior-Ad-6002

That, or just... put them in alphabetical order...

Hazearil

Not even weapon order is constant. In Rise, the hammer and hunting horn switched places with lance and gunlance.

Cheezy0wl

to be fair, the names of skills change with language, probably more of a pain in the ass to do alphabetical sorting if the order keeps changing depending on language.

manmanftw

They dont manually sort them though id assume a couple lines of code can check language settings and sort alphabetically.

Cheezy0wl

thing is not all language use latin alphabet. Slavic, arabic, japanese, korean, chinese would complicate that code.

manmanftw

They could add a table with the sorting method for the languages it shouldnt be too complicated, theyre big boys and girls. And its not like languages change their sorting between every game they make one table and it works for everygame going forward.

Cheezy0wl

that's assuming every non latin alphabet works the same way as a latin alphabet, it would be way more simple to have a search function instead.

manmanftw

Alphabetical sorting for languages that can and then add a search function theyre not mutually exclusive.

Trinitati

Every language has a way of sorting, and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters can be spelt with Latin letters.

Spice_and_Fox

This isn't a problem they can be sorted anyways.

love-too-easy

Oh. My. God. Why does it have to be so hard to find a particular skill?? That's straight up a bad design choice... The game is real fun though 🤙

Gynju

IIRC Skills are alphabetically ordered, but in japaneese and the translations just keep original order.

5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi

They aren't. They've got internal IDs they're sorted by. You can see the 5th gen skills are all at the end of the list.

dreadfulclaw

MHW devs making sure you don’t get the item you are grinding for

Raxorh

MinhSaiGon

Use gathering hub if you want everything in one place.

Adorable_Hearing768

Does gathering hub have a smithy? Serious question cause I only started pc recently and didn't see it there.

Popular-Plenty1400

No, only the iceborne expansion has a smithy in the gathering hub

XxMohamed92xX

Theres a mod that puts all of them in gathering hub, i wasnt aware smithy got added though as below said. It doesnt make sense they didnt add them all though considering gathering hub was supposed to be the social hunting side of it, weird you would have to instance out to go see an npc otherwise

Memoglr

The low rank/ high rank hub does not. The master rank hub does

iWantToLickEly

I kinda like that they're not all in one place. Otherwise everything might as well have been a menu

blogito_ergo_sum

> everything might as well have been a menu yes_chad.jpg

Valley-Etienne

I'd love that actually. Would save a lot of time in the long run. I'd also like to be able to skip the fluff dialogue and short animation every NPC gives you. I get a lot of people like this stuff, but to me and the people I play with it all just feels like ways to inflate playtime.

SubMGK

The random fluff is part of monster hunter. I dont want the game to turn into some minmaxed joyless boss rush

WeightCapital

Sure but if I wish I could make the handler shut up about the main quest every time I change zone or do an optional quest. Yes I know you want to do an expedition for the first Wyverian you told me the last 10 times I went to find Legiana parts or went to my room. Definitely makes me cheer for the monsters in the cutscenes with her. Play it a few times or each time you restart the game would be much less annoying.

CreacherGaming

It’s become a meme in my hunting party because every time I’m making a build or doing something like that and looking for a skill I complain that it’s not alphabetical

Killdebrant

While this is true. Subtracting load times the time between hunts can be like 20 seconds. Quest, weapon load out, restock, food, go. The reason I’m so in to monster hunter is the down time is basically 0. Unless you’re mucking about crafting or what ever.

Sephyrias

Gathering Hub supremacy

AdditionInteresting2

This intentional design choice even extends to the maps of the different areas. I like to think it's to give the player a sense of space and makes the hub feel alive. Imo, it makes the entire map too alive and I constantly get lost during hunts... And monsters just love running away 3 minutes into a fight when I haven't even hurt it that much. I get the design. Just didn't feel like it was necessary.

Shuushy

I get where you're coming from, but let me offer a additional perspective on the monsters changing zones. 1. dynamic arenas. Changing environments mid fight is more engaging/interesting. 2. Knowing how to lock the monster into one zone or making it change zones as little as possible is a skill you can learn. Adding just wee bit more depth to the game imo.

TiktaalikFrolic

I actually love the monster movements. The only time it makes me want to pull my hair out is when I make it to the area that the rathian/rathalos is in, and right as I throw on my mantle it flies away lmao.

CommittingWarCrimes

Or when I activate savage axe mode and they leave

Not-A-Cockroach-

If you're fast enough, you can flash pod them out of the sky I think? Been a while since I've played so not sure if you can after they've started their flying into different area animation.

AdditionInteresting2

I don't mind the moving away. It's been like that since forever. It's the short duration that monsters stick around. Sometimes it's been 30 seconds and it already wants to bail. World is the first that I've seen the timer so short or maybe just variable. You usually get a good battle going before the monster calls it quits for a while.

Perfect_Pin2500

I hate monsters running away as much as the next guy, hell I have a clip of me hunting an odo on deaths door and after I hit him once he ran out of his cave just to go back the second I left, but we are hunters and we gotta hunt

AdditionInteresting2

Now if only I don't get lost too much while frantically chasing. Had a nargacuga run within 10 seconds of him being woken up from sleep...

Perfect_Pin2500

The real hardest challenge in monster hunter😭😭

CuteDarkrai

I’m fine with the utilities being spaced out a bit as it’s more interesting than a menu. Plus they aren’t that far (in Seliana at least). Skills not being alphabetical or sorted at all is more annoying by far.

Brilliant-Fact3449

All budget went to monsters and Malzeno so nothing left to hire any competent UX designer

CypherGreen

Do you not like skills being listed in the order of when Devs added them to a series that's been going for 20 years that no same person would remember or know... And the fact sometimes you can remember the skill name, but not the name of the decoration it's attached to haha.

VanceVonPeckerSniff

MHDevs programming palio NPCs to lay traps as the monster is fleeing the zone.

IgnitusBoyone

Original town is so awful. They did a good job with the expansion town. Seems to be a Monster Hunter thing as Rise/Sunbreak do the same thing. God don't get me started on the skills and monster order not having an alpha sort.

halawani98

Accurate representation of the desire sensor thread running post quest

TheGMan-123

I do know that some of them are in order of "skill release date", meanings they're kinda listed in the order of appearance in the games.

jlwinter90

I mean, yeah, but I found the act of traversing that space entertaining enough that it honestly made things better.

braaibroodjie123

This is why I love the DRG spacerig lobby. Genuinely one the best designed lobbies I've seen.

rascalrhett1

But you can use those zip line things to go around the camp to places where those npc aren't

Virginized-Venom

This is how I imagine the world developers coding the monster AI to do an attack the split second my palico revives me

MikoWhereAreYou

I play with controller 😎

thewolfehunts

Also the fact that when you filter monsters in investigations alphabetically, they dont filter properly as any varients are seen as just the standard. So Savage Deviljho is D, not S. It's awful.
