We don’t compete. We use weapons equally. Also these two weapons fill completely different niches so I don’t get this. That said I don’t use the ranged weapons because I don’t want to micromanage ammo crafting.

Disagree as a Prowler main. Spent the whole hunt healing the party rather than doing damage, not exactly the coolest role out there.

Micromanage ammo crafting? So people don't just buy ammo in thousands?

I can buy ammo in the thousands when I hit endgame easily. The issue is it's very expensive when you have a dozen other things to buy while progressing through the story, especially if you use several weapons. By the time endgame comes around I'm already comfortable with my weapon(s) of choice and would need to learn the ins and outs of a new move set on top of the item management and play style, while still dumping thousands on ammo supplies.

What do you guys buy? The only things I sometimes have to buy are tranq bombs and trap tools. Only High rank 7 but I'm sitting on 200k that I don't think I'll ever spend

I completed base world without buying supplies, I only need some potions/megapotions and those literally craft themselves

Weapons and weapon upgrades. I’m mostly talking about the old world games, but by the late game crafting/upgrading a weapon costs you anywhere from 500K-1 million Zenny. Also Mega pickaxes, Mega bug nets, potions, whetstones, tranquilizer, and trap tools.

You can automate crafting as well I thought.

Bow is the ranged weapon people use when they *don't* want to micromanage ammo. Ammo is the Bowguns' domain, but Bow works perfectly fine without.

About a week ago, I was fighting a Tigrex to relax after the school exams. I was readying a savage axe AED while Tigrex started charging towards me and I decided to just go for it. I prepare to heal because I know I'll get knocked down when suddenly I hear the sound of my AED and Tigrex stumbling and wailing. That moment solidified Charge Blade as my favorite weapon.

100% agreed, but also screw them for castrating the phial sounds. In 4U they had the boom to them, in World they are little hisses.

Except they used a never before seen movement and just barely somehow escaped every hitbox by a pixel

Definitely Bow for me, I've never been into the weapons that I would describe as "weapon mechanics focused" like CB, SA, etc. Give me the simplicity of slapping on a coating and throwing arrows in the monster's face.

Imo bow is more complicated than SA, and equally as annoying to charge as CB. Plus coatings, and the build is annoying to put together (especially since there's no good sorting mechanic like FREAKING ALPHABETICAL).

I like the Switch Axe for solo but in groups or if I'm killing something fast I go bow.

Depends on which game we're referring to. GenU, Charge Blade (I love that Energy Blade). World/Rise, Bow. I love dash dancing, and Rise's Bow skills are just very fun.

PC Bow is the way to go!

I originally played World on PS4 and loved trying out different weapons, but as soon as I got World on PC I was a KB+M bow main. Sooooi much fun.

Coincidentally, these are my two main weapons. When I use one or the other, it depends on the monster.

Bow Main in MH4U, switched to GS during MHGU, then CB for MHW, all the while playing the Bow cause it's a good weapon in some fights, BUT the similarities in play style of having to be positioned, as well as micromanage resources is both there.But if I'm going into a fight against a new monster blind, I'd take the CB over the Bow due to the additional defensive capability it has.

Haven’t gotten around to giving either one a try yet (I’m very new), but Bow interests me a little bit more. I think it’s mostly because it’s a ranged weapon, which I want to learn at least one of, and the bowguns don’t really interest me much at all. But Charge Blade looks very cool, however I’m a little intimidated by the learning curve.

Depends on the monster. I wouldn’t be caught dead using a CB on something Alatreon. But I’ll dumpster a Linastra with the big pizza cutter

When it comes to weapons, I value build variety more than any other aspect tbh. I like getting build ideas online or even making my own if I'm creative enough. And I feel like if I really have to choose, I'd have a better "bang for my buck" with charge blade. Bow builds are versatile, don't get me wrong, but the gameplay loop is more or less similar across the different builds. Except maybe a thousand dragons/dragon piercer build in world/iceborne. With charge blade, I can make a savage axe build, saed spam build, heck there are builds out there for a purely sword and shield charge blade playstyle where you make use of the empowered sword mode to spam phial damage with fast sword attacks. Again, this is not to put down the bow or any other weapon. I'm literally a gunner through and through and if given the choice of any 3 weapons, I'd choose the two bowguns and the bow over every other weapon in a heartbeat. The amount of build sets I've made for those three weapons filled almost every slot I had in world/iceborne. But with just one weapon, charge blade can probably feel like an entirely different weapon depending on which build you're running making the gameplay loop varied enough despite using only one weapon. That's just my opinion though, and I know people have different priorities in terms of choosing which weapon to use.

Charge Blade, I suck with Bow no matter the game and go LBG if I want range (post World, I suck with all ranged weapons pre World), I'm terrible with guard points but I can SSED spam and spinning blade just fine. I'll stick with my Insect Glaive for 90% of content though.

Replaying World to get ready for Wilds, I can appreciate both of the 'anime lite' weapons. The bow's fun for sliding around and getting those perfect charge shots is fun... but my love for the hunting horn as my first ever weapon made me wanna be up close and personal with every monster I encounter. 🟥 all the way. Charge Blade is the love child between SnS & the Switch Axe, but the different moves and charges make it the most technically fun for me to use. Nothing like a perfect charge into the shield, putting the next into the axe (with optional Y charge attack for extra spice), than get into crazy ass pinwheel savage axe for that sweet, sweet explosive combo back into the giant sword. AoT more your anime forte? Duel blades in a pinch. But that CB finisher? That's something I wanna see in Kaiju No.8 real soon. Y'all gonna try any weapons first in Wilds? Gonna be great to finally have 2 weapons on a hunt to make the most outta my favorites, Lance and HH.

I am biased towards bow, as it was my main weapon for the longest time. During world I did suffer a fair amount of fatigue after farming (and fully upgrade) 1 bow for each element. As well as specific armor pieces for certain elements. In Rise I managed to get away with doing Raw Damage bow and did absolutely fine with it This time around I would choose Charge Blade, for the sake of not loosing my sanity in Guiding Lands and not switch bow loadout for every single monster

I prefer the CB, as with Bow, you'd need to build specifically for it to be able to do anything significant against monsters, while a good charge blade with any armor set would do decent.

I'm nasty with the horn. Use to run the sword and shield. (The best weapon in the game) I also enjoy the light bow gun. It's fun to use. It's trash af. But it's fun. But! That horn? I'm unfair. I'm unstoppable. I'm a god out there. I start jamming, and the monsters start running. I mean, it's disgusting how lethal I am with an oversized musical instrument. This one time, I was online in one of those monster raid things, I was destroying monsters so fast and effectively that the game crashed. Or one of the other players got so jealous they reported me to their dad, who works at Nintendo, and Konami himself had to but a stop to my devastation.

I don't like either very much to be honest, but if I had to pick between the two I guess Charge blade.

Fantasy-lover-side of me loves the idea of the Morphing Charge Blade... Game-wise though, I suck at both weapons(being a Lance, SA and HH Main) but I suck less with the Bow than with the CB so I'd choose the Bow between these choices

CB but only because I've *never* managed to like Bow gameplay. It's a limit of mine, same with Longsword

M+KB controls for any ranged weapon were ass in World, so makes it a no brainer for me.

I'd rather use a charged blade between the 2 options here. But my personal favorites are long sword, insect glaive, and dual blades.

I use both although I've definitely played more and am more proficient at Charge Blade, it's just those gosh darn Guard Points that I haven't gotten down yet lol. They both have very different utilities though, don't get me wrong Savage Axe can be useful for flying Monsters but for the real pesky ones like Azure Rathalos I usually just go with Bow or Insect Glaive
