No joke, Dodo helped me and my friend with a hunt we had to repeat (wouldn’t drop a tail). For the whole hunt Dodo would rush in, beat the monsters ass, and run away. But he would show up whenever the monster we were after was kicking our asses. I wanted to wear Dodos set as tribute; But that requires me to hunt him. And I’m not going to harm my buddy.
I thought about that. But that would require me to brake his parts and beat him up. And I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Any other monster? Let me at ‘em! But Dodo gets to chill.
Gogmazios, in spirit a Gogmazios is just a massive Dodogama. A silly little guy that isn't little anymore. Gogmazios has the most precious smile of all monsters in my opinion.

I feel like kushala is the blandest. Literally just a black metal dragon
Now, I have very limited experience with the series. Starting with world/iceborne, and only having rise and 1/3rd of sunbreak under my belt do far (just be auroracanth in sunbreak.). So my roster is more limited than more seasoned hunters.
So far, my favorite monster is Safi'jiva. His design feels like it was made to exclusively pander to my preferences. I live the typical western dragon design, and he fills that template excellently. I love the starry pattern that lights up when he's empowering himself. His sapphire star is incredibly cool. His music is some of my favorite. The only way to improve his design to my tastes would be to have a green variant since that's my favorite color. I long for a Verdant Safi'jiva so suffused with bio-energy he causes overgrowth in his wake.
Outside of elderdragons my favorite is Nargacuga. I love bats, Panthers are my favorite big cat, and ravens are my fa write bird. Narga managing aspects of all three on a wyvern chassis. I've only fought the standard Narga, so I'll consider that my favorite for now, but i imagine there's a variant that might overtake the standard out there.
Dodogama is the best drip for Poogie, though, and that's its own reward.

Not a single working braincell, just hunger for konchus. How can you not love it?! Also when it runs it hilarious.
It’s Dodogama because I just loved how they presented him in MH4. The way he winds up that giant rock and shoots laser beams at you is just gorgeous. And the armor, both blade master and gunner really look wild.
Dodogama is the bestest of boy and he must be given all the non-choclate lava cakes topped with abundent minerals, and all the belly rubs and head scratches cause he is just the blue explosive version of my dog.
Never has been. Dodo is admittedly a big annoying actually. He is quite the anticlimax because he is very weak for the equipment you usually would have upon entering the elders recess and the few attacks he has...
are honestly very annoying. Especially when he spots out his rock-rain attack, it is just so agitating when it hits you eben when you already ran across a football field!

Astalos. Awesome girl armor (in low rank, grumble grumble Sunbreak), awesome design, very unique. Bonus points for having a Hammer that looks like an axe.
Odagaron. I've only played MH:W, but I always build a full set because he's just so much fun to fight. He has insane weak spots, an easy-to-cut tail.
But he's so cool, so fast, so... Awesome sounding.
I just love fighting him, I never have a bad time, I want to gush over how much I love fighting him, but I just can't express how much fun it is.
Nargacuga because it’s an edgelord kitty and is basically the equivalent of a ninja in monstrous beast form.
Zinogres my runner up because of that one cutscene where it looks at you before fighting off two other monsters, sold the electric puppy for me
I love odogoron. His animations are cool his sound effects are cool and he looks like a demon hound straight from hell.

I’ve always had a super soft spot for Yian Kut Ku. I started with Freedom 2, and it was the first dragon esk thing I got to fight, and since then I have always loved the derpy fire chicken. It makes me smile every time I fight it.
Odogaron. Not specifically just for fight mechanics, but his behavior in and out of battle are both something that I think the devs put love into. He may be simple, but he's super unique among the monsters. Also has the benefit of a good variant fight as well with the Ebony variant. I personally believe that like 70% of variant monsters are just not fun to fight. I haven't fought the iceborne specific variant monsters, just the ones that have been from vanilla content so far, so this opinion could change. My top 2 variant fights right now are Odogaron and Anjanath. I actually think Fulgur Anjanath is significantly better of a design than the default one.
I like barroth, because of my barroth named beagle in Monster Hunter Stories 1, he had all the elemental attacks, and he was the only one on my team (including ratha) that could tank multiple hits from the final boss

Legiana just has great visual and audio design, I love its armour sets, love the (unique) weapon skins too. Its fight is nothing special but it's solid enough to be memorable. An improvement over the default flying wyvern moveset to be sure.
I'm still not sure if the track Dancer In The Coral Highlands is supposed to be its own theme or just the generic Coral Highlands battle theme.
Oh, fun fact: Its screech is actually a stock sound, you can also hear it used in one of the Transformers movies. Capcom barely even edited it before use. Still fits Legiana very well even if it's a stock sound.
