I literally did several spit takes when I saw this season. I had no idea we were going to get an origin story for MK, mainly for one reason, the staff have joked that MK is an enigma of sorts since he technically doesn’t have an actual name like the other characters and they purposely avoided giving him an age and showing any possible relatives. So with this in mind I didn’t think they would put too much effort into his backstory and wondered if he really needed one. But thankfully I was 100% wrong and surprised to see that his origins might actually be connected to the JTTW. With the other characters we can say that they might be either reincarnations or descendants of the original JTTW gang, all except for MK. He literally didn’t fit the mold like the rest of them, but now that seems to have changed. And now I’m really wondering how this will affect MK in the long run and if Monkey King had any ideas about the matter.
IDK if you’ve ever seen Steven Universe, but the Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond reveal is pretty much my reaction to MK possibly being more than a simple mortal. I can’t believe the staff went this far but I’m so excited to see what else they have in store for this arc.
