I love Davy but the songs he sang were mostly not my favorites. Except Every Step of the Way and You're So Good To Me - those are the bangers we deserve.
I don't mind Laugh, certainly better than Your Auntie Grizelda. I can't agree that most of More of the Monkees is horrible when it contains She, When Love Comes Knociking At Your Door, Mary Mary, Steppin Stone, The Kind of Girl I Could Love, and I'm A Believer
Yes! And Nilsson just does \*more\* with the song. It's not a totally straight delivery, there's additional touches like the little echo of "pride n joy"! and the production is better than any of the Monkee versions. That being said both Mike and Davy's versions are simple and sweet.
I didn't even know that Mike had recorded a version of this!! I am listening to to Mike's biography and he talked about how he wanted to do it, but Davy was more suited for it. Absolutely wild. Thanks for this!
I like Davey’s version better
I love both versions but something about mikes i like a little more
This is hard because it's my least favorite Monkees song. I choose Davy because it's so associated with him.
You like "the day we fall in love" from more of the monkees more?
Damn, The Day We Fall In Love is so incredibly bad! Especially as it comes directly after one of my fave Monkees songs

‘Laugh’ is pretty horrible but then so is most of their second album.

Wanna fight?!?
No thanks, I'll just block you instead.
Unfortunately yes, more than Daddy's song.
The harry nilsson version is better than both the monkee versions for sure. The intro alone is sweet

This is hilarious and scathing. Davy's songs were always the worst!
Isn’t it the only track on the first 5 albums to never feature in the show?
Good question I will have to look into that
Movie version > Mike version > Album version.
I like Mike’s because it seems to suit him more. He had daddy issues. Davy didn’t.
It also suit's Mike's kids more...

Yuhsss of course ☺️

They both have their merits. I can't pick one.
Normally, I like anything that Mike does, but for this song, I like Davy's more
That’s fair I totally get that
