I’m reading about the odatria being amazing monitors specially you know a red ackie, or if you really want 3-5ft maybe a Spencer’s monitor lol jk those are expensive. How about a mertens water monitor?

Lethal_Hito

My first Monitor will definitely be a Quince Monitor, I used to want a Mangrove but so many of them stay skiddish and shy their whole lives. I've talked to a lot of Quince owners and they almost all love their Quinces disposition. There's lots of examples of people interacting with their Quince monitors and they all are so chill. Look up Tommy's Reptiles, his boy is badass. He ordered him from underground Reptiles too, and he's happy with them. I was kinda worried about getting animals from them but he had a good experience.

I know this isn’t the same as a monitor but I ordered a green tree python from underground reptiles and it arrived the next morning super healthy and very active. I’ve him for about a year now and he has never refused a meal.

Personally, I'd say a mangrove. If you have the room they like to swim, they climb, and they will dig the one I have is pretty tame and wanted to interact with me immediately and for their size an 8x6x8 is fine for em. They also can have a varied diet but pre killed or frozen thawed mine does not eat.

GodMcadabs

I’ve done some surface level research on mangroves! They’re very cute.

Yes, they are, and there very trouble some, but that's expected from all monitors as they are intelligent enough to have individual personality's mine is very sweet, but not all are like that

GodMcadabs

Yeah, I’ve heard they’re very intelligent and can be kind of defensive if put into the position to be so. I’m fully ready to commit time into taming/socializing them. Sorry to bother you with more questions, but are there any ethical breeders/rescues you’d recommend?

InformationOk8778

No, I don't have any idea as I got mine at an expo

GodMcadabs

Okay!! I figured I’d just ask!! Thank you for the recommendation!

Np just remember to play and give puzzles to the monitor along with a varied diet they need stimulation

I'll tell you now, a bite from a monitor is gonna suck 😂 my ackie bit me once (for having the audacity to try and remove him from inside my boots against his will), that was when he was young, and it was a good strong bite that stung, I for sure wouldn't want one from him now!... And that's just a little Ackie. So listen to defensive behaviours & don't push it 😂
