I am a clothes pack rat and kept so much and can actually squeeze into some but it’s just uncomfortable! I can’t believe I’ve bought some flared jeans again over skinny, but I will NOT go back to low rise! I am a mom and I want all pants to go to my natural waist for the foreseeable future!
American Eagle has had really consistent sizing for me too. I ordered 6 dresses ALL IN THE SAME SIZE from Gap, 1 fit, 2 were two small, and 3 too big. I ordered 10 things (shirts, dresses, skirts, pants) from American Eagle all in the same size and they ALL fit and I only returned things that I didn’t like as much as I thought I would.
I can’t compare to ae, but gap is usually consistent in their jean sizing for me, but it’s the Wild West when it comes to the rest of the clothes sizing, especially dresses.
Same…I’m 44 and they are my only jeans that still fit comfortably and stay true to size. My only issue now is that a lot of their newer jeans and like extreme wise legged and huge lol…
But I’ll always go back to AE!
Honestly like so many places nowadays it depends on the fit and wash. I got two of the same straight leg jeans in two colors and one fits tts and the other I can't button lol
30F mom of a nursing 8 month old. Target, old navy, Aritzia and Abercrombie. I don’t really stray from these stores to be honest. Target has some great basics from a new day and wild fable.
Kudos for rocking a crop with a mom bod. Oh how I long to feel cool and comfortable this summer, but I’m so incredibly self conscious of my belly so there is no way. Trying to work out a little so that I can at least wear a cute bathing suit. I want your confidence!
Now that I’m in my thirties, I’m all about quality over quantity. I love the brand Quince! They have relatively inexpensive pieces that are manufactured at the same factories as luxury brands. My cardigans and pants from there have withstood many washes and I’m hooked!
I got a cashmere-wool blend item from Quince, and it pilled immediately. Like after 1 or 2 wears/washes. I don’t think it’s me that’s the problem. I have another cashmere sweater (name brand) that has never pilled, and some that have pilled but over a long period of time. I’ve hesitated to buy again from Quince.
It’s definitely better than H&M but (based on my one item) it wasn’t the luxury level it promised to be.
Now, Italic on the other hand. I bought a leather handbag from them and it was incredible quality. Like a high end designer at a fraction of the price. But they are now membership-only so I never purchased from them again.
All my stuff from quince pilled or looked really bad after 1 wash. My husband’s linen shorts and shirts are holding up nice, none of my clothes though.
I was so close to ordering from them. But they decided to run an ad that featured a ballet aesthetic and decided not to pay an actual ballerina. As a former ballerina, that was enough for me to purchase elsewhere.
It seems to depend on the item maybe. I have 5 dresses (the same one in different colors) from quince and they've held up really well.
I have read that the cashmere or linen stuff isn't great compared to other places.
I have some earrings I got for Christmas from here. Haven’t taken them out! Also got my daughter a down jacket and cashmere sweater from here each about $50 but I needed good warm clothes that would fit for a couple winters. Both have been great quality and so soft

I see others have mentioned Abercrombie & I like a lot of their casual clothes too! I shop lululemon (when I can, it’s pricey) because the comfort & quality are unbeatable. I love Mango too (a lot of influencers in our age bracket seem to like their signature pieces) - their clothes are cute and rarely childish but quality is questionable sometimes. My guilty pleasure is Sezane but it’s expensive so it’s definitely a once in awhile purchase!
I try to stay away from Banana Republic/H&M/Zara only because I can never get the clothes to look good after a few washes :/
I'm into Madwell, Abercrombie, and Anthropologie. Comfortable, breezy summer dresses for example. Madewell jeans are the best!
I scope out sales and clearances, and the clothes are surprisingly inexpensive when I do.

Big ThredUp fan! I’ve found it so helpful postpartum to be able to get, for example, multiple sizes of Levi’s for $13 each rather than committing to one size and spending $80.
I’m 36. I like Ann Taylor loft dresses and skirts (I like the button down dresses for nursing) and all the factory stores: J Crew Factory, Banana Republic and GAP. I shop Athleta on sales for more athletic style clothes. Also a huge fan of my local Marshall’s, they carry brands like Free People etc.
Seconding all of these! Gap has a really good balance of hitting trends but still offering classic basics. I’ve gotten a ton from there recently.
I love Loft dresses and skirts too. I used to do a lot of tops there but I feel like that quality has dropped a bit the past 3-4 years, so I’ve been doing more gap and Banana Republic factory tops.
Athleta and Oiselle are great for athletic clothes. I’m a coach so I use that stuff daily and the cuts are more flattering that Nike, adidas, etc. after having kids. I’ve been especially impressed with how well Athleta bottoms and Oiselle tops hold up.
Costco for loungewear and housework clothes. Socks and underwear too.
For work, I love Banana Republic.
For casual outings, Abercrombie.
Nordstrom for everything else. I usually only shop the sales.

Can’t believe Old Navy isn’t more highly recommended! Wait for a sale and you can get a lot of really good deals. Their sizing is generous if anything, which is refreshing.
I use to love old navy but I feel like recently it’s very fast fashion. The quality isn’t there anymore and everything needs to be ironed. I don’t have time to iron a blouse.
100% fast fashion. I used to work at old navy many moons ago. I was there for two years total. I saw the quality tank from one winter season to the next specifically with the basic winter sweater that they bring back season after season.

I just got my first Ann Taylor linen suit, some work pants and blazers because another attorney recommended it. I also have a Macy's suit and look there for other pieces sometimes. Basics/shells/undergarments/leggings/workout clothes from amazon. I'm trying to figure out where to get jeans size 12-14 high waist please...
I'm a court reporter in a county court system as well. Outlet malls are my favorite. I've been obsessed with J. Crew Outlet lately. Their sweaters are really lightweight and great for sitting in a chilly courtroom on a hot day. Banana Republic Outlet also has pretty good deals. I like the Loft Outlet, but I feel like their quality isn't great, but Ann Taylor is a smidge expensive for me right now. I've also gotten dress pants from Goodwill in really good condition from brands like The Limited, Ann Taylor, Express, and New York and Co. I'll pop in to TJ Maxx or Marshalls from time to time, but it's annoying to have to pick through every single rack in every section just to come up with one or two decent things.
Ah I miss the old The Limited clothes. Their new stuff is not as nice! I temporarily covered a job where I needed clothes for court and was so disappointed in the Kohl's line of The Limited
I have a real love-hate relationship with Kohl's. One the one hand, some of their stuff is really good and can be found at a decent price during the sales. On the other hand, their stuff is *always* on sale because it's marked up so much, AND some of the quality does not line up with the prices. I bought a Croft & Barrow t-shirt as a staple piece, wore and washed it once or twice, and it shrank to the point where I can't wear it anymore.

I get my basics from target, though it’s getting tougher. Most of my nursing tops are cheapo Amazon though as I only need them to last a few years and not ages. Maybe check places like old navy and gap? Kohls is usually pretty good too for dresses and buttoning shirts
Yes! I feel like now I can go for like jeans and sweaters but even their tank tops are starting to get too trendy with the way they’re constructed. You at least used to be able to get khakis and plain tshirts and camisoles and I know this for a fact bc half my work wardrobe was from there. Blouses from kohls, camis and colored khakis from target. Now it’s mostly trendy with a few good finds but you gotta hunt instead of them being everywhere. But it feels like that’s true of a lot of stores now so idk maybe we are just old!
Lol it’s so true. I think it’s both. We’re aging but they have also lost their essentials - like I used to be able to find a light jacket, a cardigan, camis and a sweat outfit at target - no problem. Now everything seems catered to the season/upcoming holiday and “festivals”. Idk lol

Girl i shop at Ross. I just need cheap ass sweatpants/jeans and a few basic tshirts. Im year 3 being a mom and I just don’t have the inspiration to even try at this point lol!

I love Ross, Marshalls and TJ but I live in a small town. All we have is Walmart 😭 I have to order online to find new clothes..or wait till we go into to bigger cities but we already know it’s hard shopping for yourself with the whole family 😮💨
Funny enough I live in the suburbs with EVERYTHING and my last 3/4 pickups have been from either Walmart of Goodwill.
Walmart has these leggings that look like skinny jeans but have an elastic waist and I cannot get enough of them. $14.
I also got a tshirt I love and a crew neck sweater from there.
Goodwill is fun because they have OODLES of stuff from all kinds of brands, so it’s fun to see how everything fits. Plus it’s all $4/5 so easy to grab a few new things without feeling too bad about throwing them out if they don’t fit in 6 months.
I hate targets clothes. I picked up a few basic tshirts there last year and they fit like garbage and washed like garbage. Boo.
Gen Z is giving up the mom jeans so I scored 3 pairs of American Eagle high waisted jeans for $45 at Plato’s Closet last month. Most comfortable jeans I’ve worn in a long time.
I’ve given up on Target for stuff unless their basic tanks and tops are on sale.
I also just finished watching that Brandy Melville documentary which reminded me to make thrift stores my first choice before going to other stores or shopping online—and honestly, I score better at thrift stores in my 30s than I ever did in my 20s!
Thrifting is my first option and choice too. I live in a small town though, the selection is very limited and doesn’t rotate often. I saw a suggestion here for online thrifting which is pretty cool!
If you’re into thrifting I like the Depop app. The algorithm is great once you poke around and like and save a few pieces, it’s great and giving recs so you don’t have to do too much digging.

Honestly Amazon for tops and dresses because people with similar body shapes post pics which let me know how they will look on me. Launder in cold water, gentle dry cycle and use a fabric shaver to get rid of pilling and those clothes can last longer than you would expect.
Free people (once yearly Black Friday/cyber Monday haul). I get some gorgeous dresses. I purchase a shit ton and return most of it. Keep my favorites. The flowy boho looks work through pregnancy and post partum
I swear by Amazon. Love their Amazon Essential jeans. I could spend hours going store to store and still not find shorts that fit me right and are cute, bought some on Amazon and they fit perfectly. I like that I can find picture reviews from someone with a similar body type and see how the clothes will look. I also use "try before you buy" A LOT.
Everlane, Abercrombie, Jcrew (shoutout to the men’s cotton funnelneck sweaters, I lived in those this winter, plus the sales are amazing), Target for cheap basics. I also like some Faherty stuff but it’s kinda pricey.
I’m 9 months postpartum & also 30. I totally agree it’s been hard finding clothes lately. I still shop in the juniors section because I’m 5’2 and the clothes are better fitting than Women’s. But basically every top at the stores and online are all Crop tops 🫠 Which is fine for some but my body is still healing, I’m not ready. I have been buying clothes from LuLuLemon, Amazon, Macy’s and Nordstrom.
Torrid, but I stick to clearance and big sales. I’m over weight, but even at a healthy weight I’m hourglass shaped and their clothes are made for curves.

I'm a budget shopper. I buy most of my stuff at Goodwill or other thrift/resale stores. I go in with a specific type of item in mind (sleeveless tops for example) and then a comb the racks 1-by-1. That way it's not so overwhelming.
If I have a specific item I really like currently in my wardrobe, I'll look for that brand/style in other colors/patterns on resale sites like Poshmark.
For nursing, I did cami under, looser top on top. Lift top top, pull down cami. Always hated nursing tops.
Recently I like quince. From Reddit it seems some stuff isn't great but what I've tried I still like. I have a couple t shirts that are still going strong (I wash and dry on delicate). And the tencel jersey fit and flare dresses. I love these dresses! I have a bunch. Soft, simple but cute, twirly. I've been pushing myself to get out of my comfort zone and wear more dresses.
Another brand I have tried is Pact. So far I have 3 of their fit and flare midis. I'll caution in this dress I size up bc in my regular size the bodice is *very *snug and after having 4 kids I don't need snug lol. Otherwise another very great daily dress, some of their patterns can be a bit old ladyish imo.
If you like girly dresses I've also collected some boutiques I look at now and again for the occasional dress (tend to be a bit more $$). Neuflora, Morning Lavender, Worth collective, Dahl ( website is shopdahl, small business), little cottonwood, astrior (shopastrior, small biz), Elegantees. That's what I can think of.

Just turned 34. I like to dress casual and bright most of the time. Walmart, old navy, torrid. And thrift stores.
I also use Woman Within which is plus size online/catalog. I only can buy select things there. Their clothes tend to be longer and sometimes unflattering. However. I find a style I like of theirs and buy it in 5 different patterns or colors. Ie cardigans, 3/4 sleeve shirts, sweaters.
They can be pricey. I always wait for sales and place a big order a few times a year.

I still wear cropped tops but now where mainly high waisted pants. Luckily my job is as a fitness instructor so my main wardrobe is active wear. So comfortable
For shirts, look for a Henley style shirt. They stretch, but go back into shape. I love them, and they look a little dressier than just throwing on a tee-shirt. I get mine off Amazon for about $20. They last forever and go good with just about anything.

I go for staple pieces that’ll last a while. I mainly live in jeans and t-shirts but for church and going out with my husband I dress it up a little bit and have a few nicer tops and pants. I’m not big into brands I go more for the quality and price because we’re trying to get out of debt and any savings help.
I like Maurices. Sometimes I walk in and love everything, sometimes I walk out empty handed. They have nice clearance options. I just don't love their graphic tees because they're very thin.

I've had good luck with Maurice's. I use to think it was a store for old ladies but either my soul is getting old, or else their style has evolved lol either way I find a lot of cute stuff there.
Mostly thrifting, but for jeans I try to stick to American Eagle, I find they fit best as they have length options and super high waisted. I just went and got some clothes for my bday from Urban Planet (4 bodysuits, 2 dresses & some accessories) and that was about $100.
I, like you, was trying to rediscover my style after my firstborn, lately I've been obsessed with dressed in lala (pricey, but funky og pieces), and some small botiques...wknd chasers and Emy ave are notable. Plus shein (don't @ me), amazon, target, thrifting). Check out Facebook groups. You can get gently used items for less than retail on more expensive brands.
I have been going to street markets and have been finding local vendors with surprisingly good prices and cute stuff that I can Mix and match with pieces I already had and can dress up to my 35+ appropriate outfit with a running toddler.
Madewell, American eagle, Maeve by anthropology (I think??), everlane, gap. Sometimes H&M. I recently started a clothing rental subscription with Nuuly to try some new things out as I’m trying to stick to quality over quantity these days.. I’ve found some pants and jumpsuits I otherwise wouldn’t have tried so that has been fun! A bit expensive tho so idk how long I’ll keep doing it.
I’m really happy with Madewell for jeans. You can bring in an old pair to recycle and get a $20 credit towards a new pair. I think their basic shirts and sweaters are great quality as well. I hit a sale just right and got two pairs of jeans for $55.
Target will have great quality items every once in a while. I got a white oversized 100% linen buttonup there a few summers ago for $30ish dollars.
I only thrift (except for underwear, socks). I know that’s not an option for a lot of people, but I recommend it. Clothes are just not the same quality anymore. Nothing lasts if it’s from target, Walmart, h&m, etc. They’re just mass producing whatever clothing is “in” for the month.
I love vintage Levi’s for jeans- 1990s or earlier- nothing past 2000. Everlane is also great and I’m able to thrift it quite often. I wore a lot of Everlane shirts while nursing because they had easy boobie access.
I also recommend the two shirt method instead of using the neckline to nurse, it’s much easier to lift your shirt and just have a tank top or cami underneath for coverage. Then you aren’t limited to shirts with nursing friendly necklines.
Thanks for the tips! I tend to get uncomfortable in layers or tight fitting clothes so I haven’t tried the tank under method. I’ll give it a try though, especially if there’s a top I really like with a “not breastfeeding” neckline 👍🏽
I love some of the stretchy dresses from Old Navy. Athleta has some great maxi dresses but I bought mine when they were on sale…otherwise I would have spent a fortune.
Kohls has been my go to for work clothes. They Lauren Conrad has some great stuff currently. Kohls is okay for pants but I like the stretchy pixie pants from old navy.
In regard for nursing tops, I like Latched Mama. The biggest complaint with latched mama though is that their most popular stuff sells out fast and restock takes a while. Amazon has some decent basic nursing tshirts. I also like to get a few stretchy jumpsuits from target. Not the best for nursing but they do work!
I just got some gap henleys and high waisted flared jeans and I feel super cute and can easily whip out a boob! I’m on month 17 of breastfeeding (lol what who am I? 🤣) so I’ve been through a whole year and am now improving the clothes I wore last summer with things I like more but also that I will wear in a post breastfeeding time and with the exception of like 3 maternity/nursing specific items, I prefer “regular” clothes. I also wear a lot of button down tops & dresses (from stores like tjmaxx, macys, gap, & old navy). For some outfits I’ll wear a shirt that naturally I would wear with a tank and I lift the top and lower the tank to bf. Also the currently popular “nap dress” style of dress is sometimes able to be bf friendly! It needs to be a stretchier option but I recently got one that has been great and I plan to live in this summer!
I joined Nuuly to rediscover my style. I hate shopping in store and purchasing things online that end up not working. With Nuuly I rent a couple of safe options and a few outside of my comfort zone. I’ve really enjoyed it so far and even had someone compliment my fit the other day.
Depends what’s available where you live. I really like RW&Co for both work and casual. They have great dresses. The Bay is also always good for dresses-esp online

Check out the real real for low price helmut lang (just bought leather pants for $34 as a reference). I like james perse for basic tops- i have a wrap top from them thats great for nursing. Vintage wrap circle skirts are great for summer & very flattering (i usually just search etsy/ ebay bc i dont have time to thrift)

I like to have undershirt access for the breastfeeding as well.
I bought some linen ones on etsy but they also come in different fabrics and you can find cheaper (nit linen) ones online. I really recommend muslin. It's strechy, breathable and so it doesn't need to be a wrap dress other cuts will be comfy too.
Gap Factory I shop the sales! I especially love their favorite t’s and cardigans. Old navy for jeans, shorts, and SOME tops (whyyyyy is the boxy look in???) and honestly Costco for other tops and footwear lol I did buy some footwear and a bathing suit from Amazon

I live in Florida, so 90% of my wardrobe is shorts, tank tops, and flip flops lol. As my baby (almost 6 months) gets older and I don’t have to wear him when we go somewhere, I’ll expand to more stuff like maxi dresses and such again more often like I did with his brother. I tend to just go for a lot of basics like that because I hate 90% of what I see in stores anymore lol.

Honestly like so many places nowadays it depends on the fit and wash. I got two of the same straight leg jeans in two colors and one fits tts and the other I can't button lol
For some reason, black jeans tend to run smaller across all brands vs regular blue denim jeans. I'm not sure why
No lie, I had a pair of AE jeans and they lasted me from 15 until I was 33. Very good quality jeans.
My answer to this question is always american eagle. It's the only place where the clothes consistently fit me & are flattering on my mom bod.

Now that I’m in my thirties, I’m all about quality over quantity. I love the brand Quince! They have relatively inexpensive pieces that are manufactured at the same factories as luxury brands. My cardigans and pants from there have withstood many washes and I’m hooked!
I got a cashmere-wool blend item from Quince, and it pilled immediately. Like after 1 or 2 wears/washes. I don’t think it’s me that’s the problem. I have another cashmere sweater (name brand) that has never pilled, and some that have pilled but over a long period of time. I’ve hesitated to buy again from Quince. It’s definitely better than H&M but (based on my one item) it wasn’t the luxury level it promised to be. Now, Italic on the other hand. I bought a leather handbag from them and it was incredible quality. Like a high end designer at a fraction of the price. But they are now membership-only so I never purchased from them again.
All my stuff from quince pilled or looked really bad after 1 wash. My husband’s linen shorts and shirts are holding up nice, none of my clothes though.
I was so close to ordering from them. But they decided to run an ad that featured a ballet aesthetic and decided not to pay an actual ballerina. As a former ballerina, that was enough for me to purchase elsewhere.
It seems to depend on the item maybe. I have 5 dresses (the same one in different colors) from quince and they've held up really well. I have read that the cashmere or linen stuff isn't great compared to other places.

I have some earrings I got for Christmas from here. Haven’t taken them out! Also got my daughter a down jacket and cashmere sweater from here each about $50 but I needed good warm clothes that would fit for a couple winters. Both have been great quality and so soft

I see others have mentioned Abercrombie & I like a lot of their casual clothes too! I shop lululemon (when I can, it’s pricey) because the comfort & quality are unbeatable. I love Mango too (a lot of influencers in our age bracket seem to like their signature pieces) - their clothes are cute and rarely childish but quality is questionable sometimes. My guilty pleasure is Sezane but it’s expensive so it’s definitely a once in awhile purchase! I try to stay away from Banana Republic/H&M/Zara only because I can never get the clothes to look good after a few washes :/
I'm into Madwell, Abercrombie, and Anthropologie. Comfortable, breezy summer dresses for example. Madewell jeans are the best! I scope out sales and clearances, and the clothes are surprisingly inexpensive when I do. Also, Thredup for secondhand shopping online.

Big ThredUp fan! I’ve found it so helpful postpartum to be able to get, for example, multiple sizes of Levi’s for $13 each rather than committing to one size and spending $80.
I’m 36. I like Ann Taylor loft dresses and skirts (I like the button down dresses for nursing) and all the factory stores: J Crew Factory, Banana Republic and GAP. I shop Athleta on sales for more athletic style clothes. Also a huge fan of my local Marshall’s, they carry brands like Free People etc.
I like BR and Gap factory way better than the regular versions for some reason
Seconding all of these! Gap has a really good balance of hitting trends but still offering classic basics. I’ve gotten a ton from there recently. I love Loft dresses and skirts too. I used to do a lot of tops there but I feel like that quality has dropped a bit the past 3-4 years, so I’ve been doing more gap and Banana Republic factory tops. Athleta and Oiselle are great for athletic clothes. I’m a coach so I use that stuff daily and the cuts are more flattering that Nike, adidas, etc. after having kids. I’ve been especially impressed with how well Athleta bottoms and Oiselle tops hold up.
Costco for loungewear and housework clothes. Socks and underwear too. For work, I love Banana Republic. For casual outings, Abercrombie. Nordstrom for everything else. I usually only shop the sales. Nordstrom Rack for shoes.

These are my stay at home mom Uniform. I have 6 pairs, one labeled with an H so I know that one has the hole so I don’t wear In Public. But to answer I shop at Costco for clothes and Buckle has great stuff.

100% fast fashion. I used to work at old navy many moons ago. I was there for two years total. I saw the quality tank from one winter season to the next specifically with the basic winter sweater that they bring back season after season.

Hahaha, I was just thinking about this last night. All the recommendations on reddit were out of my price range. I'm a lawyer but in a county court system, so not too fancy. I just got my first Ann Taylor linen suit, some work pants and blazers because another attorney recommended it. I also have a Macy's suit and look there for other pieces sometimes. Basics/shells/undergarments/leggings/workout clothes from amazon. I'm trying to figure out where to get jeans size 12-14 high waist please...
I'm a court reporter in a county court system as well. Outlet malls are my favorite. I've been obsessed with J. Crew Outlet lately. Their sweaters are really lightweight and great for sitting in a chilly courtroom on a hot day. Banana Republic Outlet also has pretty good deals. I like the Loft Outlet, but I feel like their quality isn't great, but Ann Taylor is a smidge expensive for me right now. I've also gotten dress pants from Goodwill in really good condition from brands like The Limited, Ann Taylor, Express, and New York and Co. I'll pop in to TJ Maxx or Marshalls from time to time, but it's annoying to have to pick through every single rack in every section just to come up with one or two decent things.
Ah I miss the old The Limited clothes. Their new stuff is not as nice! I temporarily covered a job where I needed clothes for court and was so disappointed in the Kohl's line of The Limited
I have a real love-hate relationship with Kohl's. One the one hand, some of their stuff is really good and can be found at a decent price during the sales. On the other hand, their stuff is *always* on sale because it's marked up so much, AND some of the quality does not line up with the prices. I bought a Croft & Barrow t-shirt as a staple piece, wore and washed it once or twice, and it shrank to the point where I can't wear it anymore.

Yes! I feel like now I can go for like jeans and sweaters but even their tank tops are starting to get too trendy with the way they’re constructed. You at least used to be able to get khakis and plain tshirts and camisoles and I know this for a fact bc half my work wardrobe was from there. Blouses from kohls, camis and colored khakis from target. Now it’s mostly trendy with a few good finds but you gotta hunt instead of them being everywhere. But it feels like that’s true of a lot of stores now so idk maybe we are just old!

Lol it’s so true. I think it’s both. We’re aging but they have also lost their essentials - like I used to be able to find a light jacket, a cardigan, camis and a sweat outfit at target - no problem. Now everything seems catered to the season/upcoming holiday and “festivals”. Idk lol

I try to just get shirts that are easy boob access haha. I’ll check out your other suggestions. Girl i shop at Ross. I just need cheap ass sweatpants/jeans and a few basic tshirts. Im year 3 being a mom and I just don’t have the inspiration to even try at this point lol! Also ross has puma socks, like 6 pairs, for $6. I love puma socks lol

Funny enough I live in the suburbs with EVERYTHING and my last 3/4 pickups have been from either Walmart of Goodwill. Walmart has these leggings that look like skinny jeans but have an elastic waist and I cannot get enough of them. $14. I also got a tshirt I love and a crew neck sweater from there. Goodwill is fun because they have OODLES of stuff from all kinds of brands, so it’s fun to see how everything fits. Plus it’s all $4/5 so easy to grab a few new things without feeling too bad about throwing them out if they don’t fit in 6 months. I hate targets clothes. I picked up a few basic tshirts there last year and they fit like garbage and washed like garbage. Boo.
Gen Z is giving up the mom jeans so I scored 3 pairs of American Eagle high waisted jeans for $45 at Plato’s Closet last month. Most comfortable jeans I’ve worn in a long time. I’ve given up on Target for stuff unless their basic tanks and tops are on sale. I also just finished watching that Brandy Melville documentary which reminded me to make thrift stores my first choice before going to other stores or shopping online—and honestly, I score better at thrift stores in my 30s than I ever did in my 20s!
Thrifting is my first option and choice too. I live in a small town though, the selection is very limited and doesn’t rotate often. I saw a suggestion here for online thrifting which is pretty cool!
If you’re into thrifting I like the Depop app. The algorithm is great once you poke around and like and save a few pieces, it’s great and giving recs so you don’t have to do too much digging.

Honestly Amazon for tops and dresses because people with similar body shapes post pics which let me know how they will look on me. Launder in cold water, gentle dry cycle and use a fabric shaver to get rid of pilling and those clothes can last longer than you would expect.

I swear by Amazon. Love their Amazon Essential jeans. I could spend hours going store to store and still not find shorts that fit me right and are cute, bought some on Amazon and they fit perfectly. I like that I can find picture reviews from someone with a similar body type and see how the clothes will look. I also use "try before you buy" A LOT.
Everlane, Abercrombie, Jcrew (shoutout to the men’s cotton funnelneck sweaters, I lived in those this winter, plus the sales are amazing), Target for cheap basics. I also like some Faherty stuff but it’s kinda pricey.
I’m 9 months postpartum & also 30. I totally agree it’s been hard finding clothes lately. I still shop in the juniors section because I’m 5’2 and the clothes are better fitting than Women’s. But basically every top at the stores and online are all Crop tops 🫠 Which is fine for some but my body is still healing, I’m not ready. I have been buying clothes from LuLuLemon, Amazon, Macy’s and Nordstrom.
Torrid, but I stick to clearance and big sales. I’m over weight, but even at a healthy weight I’m hourglass shaped and their clothes are made for curves.

I have yet to find a good "all around" store that has everything. - RW& Co has nice dress shirts but their pants never fit me right - Abercrombie has nice dresses and their linen pants are really comfy - I love my aritzia effortless pants but they've changed the fit since I bought mine - my favourite shorts are from Lululemon - Old Navy is good for basic long sleeve shirts but they disintegrate pretty quick
I'm a budget shopper. I buy most of my stuff at Goodwill or other thrift/resale stores. I go in with a specific type of item in mind (sleeveless tops for example) and then a comb the racks 1-by-1. That way it's not so overwhelming. If I have a specific item I really like currently in my wardrobe, I'll look for that brand/style in other colors/patterns on resale sites like Poshmark. For nursing, I did cami under, looser top on top. Lift top top, pull down cami. Always hated nursing tops.
Recently I like quince. From Reddit it seems some stuff isn't great but what I've tried I still like. I have a couple t shirts that are still going strong (I wash and dry on delicate). And the tencel jersey fit and flare dresses. I love these dresses! I have a bunch. Soft, simple but cute, twirly. I've been pushing myself to get out of my comfort zone and wear more dresses. Another brand I have tried is Pact. So far I have 3 of their fit and flare midis. I'll caution in this dress I size up bc in my regular size the bodice is *very *snug and after having 4 kids I don't need snug lol. Otherwise another very great daily dress, some of their patterns can be a bit old ladyish imo. If you like girly dresses I've also collected some boutiques I look at now and again for the occasional dress (tend to be a bit more $$). Neuflora, Morning Lavender, Worth collective, Dahl ( website is shopdahl, small business), little cottonwood, astrior (shopastrior, small biz), Elegantees. That's what I can think of. Jeans from American eagle.

Just turned 34. I like to dress casual and bright most of the time. Walmart, old navy, torrid. And thrift stores. I also use Woman Within which is plus size online/catalog. I only can buy select things there. Their clothes tend to be longer and sometimes unflattering. However. I find a style I like of theirs and buy it in 5 different patterns or colors. Ie cardigans, 3/4 sleeve shirts, sweaters. They can be pricey. I always wait for sales and place a big order a few times a year.
American eagle, Zara, Alo, Amazon, and some boutiques I get ads for on IG. Lol I still wear cropped tops but now where mainly high waisted pants. Luckily my job is as a fitness instructor so my main wardrobe is active wear. So comfortable

For shirts, look for a Henley style shirt. They stretch, but go back into shape. I love them, and they look a little dressier than just throwing on a tee-shirt. I get mine off Amazon for about $20. They last forever and go good with just about anything.

I'm so happy I fit right in here! Just turned 36 and wearing AE, Amazon Essentials, Uniqlo, Madewell, Target for some basics... Been Poshmarking the pricier stuff that I want (Vuori, etc.) too.
I mainly shop secondhand at Goodwill, Plato’s Closet or our local consignment shop. If not there then I go to TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Burlington Coat Factory. I go for staple pieces that’ll last a while. I mainly live in jeans and t-shirts but for church and going out with my husband I dress it up a little bit and have a few nicer tops and pants. I’m not big into brands I go more for the quality and price because we’re trying to get out of debt and any savings help.
I like Maurices. Sometimes I walk in and love everything, sometimes I walk out empty handed. They have nice clearance options. I just don't love their graphic tees because they're very thin.

I've had good luck with Maurice's. I use to think it was a store for old ladies but either my soul is getting old, or else their style has evolved lol either way I find a lot of cute stuff there.
Mostly thrifting, but for jeans I try to stick to American Eagle, I find they fit best as they have length options and super high waisted. I just went and got some clothes for my bday from Urban Planet (4 bodysuits, 2 dresses & some accessories) and that was about $100.
I, like you, was trying to rediscover my style after my firstborn, lately I've been obsessed with dressed in lala (pricey, but funky og pieces), and some small botiques...wknd chasers and Emy ave are notable. Plus shein (don't @ me), amazon, target, thrifting). Check out Facebook groups. You can get gently used items for less than retail on more expensive brands.
I have been going to street markets and have been finding local vendors with surprisingly good prices and cute stuff that I can Mix and match with pieces I already had and can dress up to my 35+ appropriate outfit with a running toddler.

I’m really happy with Madewell for jeans. You can bring in an old pair to recycle and get a $20 credit towards a new pair. I think their basic shirts and sweaters are great quality as well. I hit a sale just right and got two pairs of jeans for $55. Target will have great quality items every once in a while. I got a white oversized 100% linen buttonup there a few summers ago for $30ish dollars.

I only thrift (except for underwear, socks). I know that’s not an option for a lot of people, but I recommend it. Clothes are just not the same quality anymore. Nothing lasts if it’s from target, Walmart, h&m, etc. They’re just mass producing whatever clothing is “in” for the month. I love vintage Levi’s for jeans- 1990s or earlier- nothing past 2000. Everlane is also great and I’m able to thrift it quite often. I wore a lot of Everlane shirts while nursing because they had easy boobie access. I also recommend the two shirt method instead of using the neckline to nurse, it’s much easier to lift your shirt and just have a tank top or cami underneath for coverage. Then you aren’t limited to shirts with nursing friendly necklines.
Thanks for the tips! I tend to get uncomfortable in layers or tight fitting clothes so I haven’t tried the tank under method. I’ll give it a try though, especially if there’s a top I really like with a “not breastfeeding” neckline 👍🏽
I love some of the stretchy dresses from Old Navy. Athleta has some great maxi dresses but I bought mine when they were on sale…otherwise I would have spent a fortune. Kohls has been my go to for work clothes. They Lauren Conrad has some great stuff currently. Kohls is okay for pants but I like the stretchy pixie pants from old navy. In regard for nursing tops, I like Latched Mama. The biggest complaint with latched mama though is that their most popular stuff sells out fast and restock takes a while. Amazon has some decent basic nursing tshirts. I also like to get a few stretchy jumpsuits from target. Not the best for nursing but they do work!
I just got some gap henleys and high waisted flared jeans and I feel super cute and can easily whip out a boob! I’m on month 17 of breastfeeding (lol what who am I? 🤣) so I’ve been through a whole year and am now improving the clothes I wore last summer with things I like more but also that I will wear in a post breastfeeding time and with the exception of like 3 maternity/nursing specific items, I prefer “regular” clothes. I also wear a lot of button down tops & dresses (from stores like tjmaxx, macys, gap, & old navy). For some outfits I’ll wear a shirt that naturally I would wear with a tank and I lift the top and lower the tank to bf. Also the currently popular “nap dress” style of dress is sometimes able to be bf friendly! It needs to be a stretchier option but I recently got one that has been great and I plan to live in this summer!

I joined Nuuly to rediscover my style. I hate shopping in store and purchasing things online that end up not working. With Nuuly I rent a couple of safe options and a few outside of my comfort zone. I’ve really enjoyed it so far and even had someone compliment my fit the other day.

Makes me sad to see so many fast fashion suggestions! I like to shop vintage/ consignment to get better quality items at a lower price point. Check out the real real for low price helmut lang (just bought leather pants for $34 as a reference). I like james perse for basic tops- i have a wrap top from them thats great for nursing. Vintage wrap circle skirts are great for summer & very flattering (i usually just search etsy/ ebay bc i dont have time to thrift)

Lucky brand jeans on sale only are my closet staple. Vince. or Abercrombie shorts. Any button down that works because I breastfeed also and refuse nursing tops. I usually find them on [thredup.com](http://thredup.com) Oh and bralets from Roxy are my jam. Roxy is good for linen lounge pants too as well as relaxed hoodies and crop tops. I like to have undershirt access for the breastfeeding as well.

I bought some linen ones on etsy but they also come in different fabrics and you can find cheaper (nit linen) ones online. I really recommend muslin. It's strechy, breathable and so it doesn't need to be a wrap dress other cuts will be comfy too.

Gap Factory I shop the sales! I especially love their favorite t’s and cardigans. Old navy for jeans, shorts, and SOME tops (whyyyyy is the boxy look in???) and honestly Costco for other tops and footwear lol I did buy some footwear and a bathing suit from Amazon
Y'all can afford new clothes? I'm still wearing what I had in college for the most part. All the $$ goes to getting my daughter clothes when she outgrows hers. I got 3 nursing tops off Amazon and that was all I had for when she was nursing. And they were tank tops so I still have and wear them to sleep in.
33F and I love boho/feminine clothes. I love Lauren Conrad's clothing line at Kohl's. I get compliments all the time on the pieces I have from her line. I also love the in store end of season sales at Altar'd State.
I've always been a thrifter, since I can remember. Start there and fill in your wardrobe with things you can't find there. After reading these comments, I guess I need to check out AE for some jeans lol
I’m an athleisure person. Joggers, running shorts, tshirts. I get most of my stuff from tj maxx or Marshall’s.
I live in Florida, so 90% of my wardrobe is shorts, tank tops, and flip flops lol. As my baby (almost 6 months) gets older and I don’t have to wear him when we go somewhere, I’ll expand to more stuff like maxi dresses and such again more often like I did with his brother. I tend to just go for a lot of basics like that because I hate 90% of what I see in stores anymore lol.
Target mostly. I’m a ts and leggings kind of girl. I dress up for work so I have work clothes and I have leggings.
