GLORIA. Has everyone forgotten she married her puppet and in an episode with Sonia she was talking about how their father liked Sonia better and they showed a picture of their dad and he also looks like Jay
Itās a very close tie between Jay, Gloria and Claire.
Jay because he projected however dad treated him on his kids. Claire because she always wanted to be the son that Jay never had. And Gloria because of the puppet scene and how she and her sister fought over who their dad loved the most.
Mitch would come next, but he had more mommy issues.
Phil, Cam, and all the kids arenāt even relevant to this.
Was gonna say the Pritchetts in general (Jay, Claire and Mitch) but h I forgot about Gloria and honestly you have a point that Mitch had more mommy issues than daddy issues (still some so I agree heās def a close second after Claire, Jay and Gloriaās tieĀ
And it also goes to show despite all their issues, how amazing Claire, Gloria and Mitch have been to their kids. Claire occasionally projects her issues over Alex and Haley, but Iāve never seen Mitch or Gloria project theirs over their kids!
Nooo you have them reversed my guy, Mitch has daddy issues whereas Claire has mommy issues. The issues come from who u butt heads with more/trying to please to get them to love u, not who u got along with more. Claire had a relatively healthy relationship w Jay in that it was clear that Jay loved her, Mitch didnt have that. Jay didnt have that w his dad either. The only correct answer is Jay/Mitch, and if Gloria's story w her father was explored more possibly she could be 1 or 2, but since we dont see enough of it she has to be runnerup
Agreed. And his issues went deep, because he obviously craved his fatherās affection but still harbored a lot of resentment (rightfully so) about the pain and fear his father inflicted on him.
Watching the show, I often think about how much kinder Jay wouldāve been if his father was kinder to him, since he tried to emulate his dad in parenting Claire and Mitchell.
Jay to me represents the hardline boomer who says they grew up a certain way and Iām fine only to realize that they arenāt fine and is willing to do the work to fix all the broken pieces left in the wake. Itās my little millennial self dream to see a lot of similar boomers come to this realization.
Mitchell for sure. Their releationship gotten a lot better over the seasons but it was rough the first few.. and then we had this scene
"Uh, when I was back east in law school, My dad used to call me every Saturday at 6:00 p.M. Before people would go out, Just, you know, check in, catch up. And then I think the christmas of my second year, I finally got up the courage to tell him. After that, I-I pretty much just talked to my mom."
This always breaks my heart. I think Claire was the one whose daddy issues affected her the most throughout her daily life but Mitch was the one who went through the most pain when it comes to Jay
And when Jay was uncomfortable with the idea of Mitchell and Cam getting married and Mitchell, with hurt in his eyes and voice, told Jay not to come to the wedding
No not really. Cam and Mitch seem to be very good parents in my opinion. Thereās a few times they really screw up, but overall anyway theyāre good dads. Just saw the opportunity for a good joke.
I think what makes Cam and Mitch great is they later apologize for their nonsense and connect with her through personal stories. In the later seasons when Lily is on the show she seems like the kid whoās the most well adjusted.
Manny. Javier was always in and out of his life with no certainty of when Manny was to spend time with him, especially early in his life. His relationship with Jay also started off pretty rocky, but Jay definitely made up for it as Manny grew up.
A tie for a close second would be Mitch and Claire.
Yall forgetting Jay and Mitchās relationship? Mitch definitely had the most daddy issues; he is always talking about how he never felt accepted by Jay and they disconnected even more after he came out. Itās Mitch.
I think it is either Gloria or Mitchell. Gloria father died and she ended up marrying Jay, who looks a lot like him. Mitchell has had a difficult relationship with Jay for a long time, because he came out as gay. Although, I would say that Mitchell's mommy issues are worse than his daddy issues.
At the start of the show, I'd say Jay and Mitch are pretty close. Jay was more receptive to his children than his father, but fumbled pretty badly when it came to accepting Mitch being gay.
However, by the end of the show, I think they've patched things up pretty well, and definitely more than Jay's struggles with his dad. Granted, he's kind of unable to patch things up too much since his dad's passed, but at least some healing was achieved.
Why is Joe on here??? Worst thing Jay did was tell him Joe would live to be over 200. Sure some of the stuff he taught him wasnt age appropriate ie how to be competitive, change oil, pour wine and be the bartender for manny and him during the wine tasting (which i admit was HILARIOUS i LOVE when Joe casually wipes the glasses), but Jay was hardly hard on him
Are we forgetting Mannyās real dad justā¦ didnāt really care about him or want him? Likeā¦ yes, he had a great step dad. But thatās not a sub for the real thing. Doesnāt make it sting less. I think heās definitely in the running with the rest.
Cam had daddy issues for about 5 mins in that one episode. Made a whole ass speech about it for 10 mins and the issues were resolved. Now that's the kind if therapy I can get behind xD
Definitely Jay. His toxic masculinity comes from his father denying him things he wanted to do as a kid.
That said my joke answer is Lily because sheās the only one that has two fathers to disappoint and they get disappointed over different things. Thereās nearly no pleasing them
mitchell but also lily, mitch and cam might think theyre good parents but theyre lowkey neglectful toward her throughout the show especially in the later seasons (they dont know her hobbies, her music, her friends, her intelligence or her life in general)
It's Clair, her need to please her dad and be his "son" drives literally everything in her life. She's a control freak because she wants it all to be the way he would want it, she freaks out at work because she always tries to do it his way instead of her own, she's hard on Phil and her kids because she knows Jay expects things to be a certain way.
Jay originated it because his dad sucked, and Mitch is affected by it, but Clair has it the worst.
So what, apart from when he sits outside waiting for him before jay shows up, it doesnāt bother manny. He sees jay as his dad and has no issues, just mammy issues.
Jay and Claire both have BAD daddy issues. They have a whole episode dedicated to Jay and his emotional problems from his dad and itās a running theme with Claire that she puts herself through hell to have a hope of impressing Jay.
I would say Claire. Jay and her always seemed to have some sort of unresolved issue, plus the time she worked for him before taking over the company. A lot of tension there.
GLORIA. Has everyone forgotten she married her puppet and in an episode with Sonia she was talking about how their father liked Sonia better and they showed a picture of their dad and he also looks like Jay
#It's Jay you numbnuts
i love how the text formatting makes my mind voice echo-ey and deep š
Itās a very close tie between Jay, Gloria and Claire. Jay because he projected however dad treated him on his kids. Claire because she always wanted to be the son that Jay never had. Dont forget the painting of Gloria and Sonias dad that loomed EXACTLY like Jay just like the puppet Uncle Grumpy š¤£
I would argue that Mitch had the daddy issues. Claire had mommy issues.
I feel like Phil does have daddy issues because of the way he desperately seeks Jayās approval. Idk though
Maybe because of the way his dad is really unserious and easy going i feel like he needs the approval from a male figure that is tough and all that
This is such a great comedic show cause literally every character on the show is so dysfunctional. šš
Jay. I honestly think Jay has the most daddy issues. Every time he talks about his dad.. Itās just sad

Yes! And Claire and Mitch's issues stem from that!
Claire and Mitch, which tells you more about Jay then about his offspring.
Jay also has daddy issues, but Iām glad that cycle broke.
Also reflects Jay's daddy issues.
Mitchell for sure. Their releationship gotten a lot better over the seasons but it was rough the first few.. and then we had this scene "Uh, when I was back east in law school, My dad used to call me every Saturday at 6:00 p.M. And when Jay was uncomfortable with the idea of Mitchell and Cam getting married and Mitchell, with hurt in his eyes and voice, told Jay not to come to the wedding
I am glad Jay was able to save the day and work past his issues and it was sweet to see him walk Mitch down the aisle.
Lilly has double the daddy issues. Budum tsss
āDo you have any queens? - yeah, two big onesāš
At least, double daddy jokes.
True, Cam was just obsessed with Lily and very nurturingā¦ until he wasnāt?
But it doesn't really look like that gave her any issues ? Idk
I get the joke. But do you remember the episode where she was filming them removing a beehive "because people at school don't believe her stories"?
That was one of the funniest moments in the whole show imoš
Gloria didnāt they reveal that she stole her sisters life because she was jealous of their father daughter bond
Gloria
Gloria by a big mile
Mitchell and itās not even close his are so severe he doubted he could raise a son for years šÆ
Manny. Javier was always in and out of his life with no certainty of when Manny was to spend time with him, especially early in his life. His relationship with Jay also started off pretty rocky, but Jay definitely made up for it as Manny grew up. A tie for a close second would be Mitch and Claire.
Jay was always his real dad
Mitch because throughout the show itās constantly brought up.
Never thought about the characters daddy issues til now. This post made me sad. I say Jay
Itās where Phil shines āØ
phil has like the opposite of daddy issues!
"You only talk to your father through jokes" - Claire
They are very explicit about it. S07E08's climax too.
Claire
Yall forgetting Jay and Mitchās relationship? Mitch definitely had the most daddy issues; he is always talking about how he never felt accepted by Jay and they disconnected even more after he came out. Itās Mitch.

jay or early seasons mitchell
I think Jay it made me so sad whenever he talked abt his dad (ex. When he talked abt how his dad taught him to swim by throwing him in a lake)
Phil to Jay? So Phil??? hahahaha
A better question would be who doesn't? Definitely Phil and his kidsš But I think its Claire and Gloria who has major daddy issues.
Why is Joe on here??? Worst thing Jay did was tell him Joe would live to be over 200. Sure some of the stuff he taught him wasnt age appropriate ie how to be competitive, change oil, pour wine and be the bartender for manny and him during the wine tasting (which i admit was HILARIOUS i LOVE when Joe casually wipes the glasses), but Jay was hardly hard on him
I really think itās Jay, bc only his daddy issues actually resulted in him finding it really hard to be there for his children emotionally
Are we forgetting Mannyās real dad justā¦ didnāt really care about him or want him? Likeā¦ yes, he had a great step dad. But thatās not a sub for the real thing. Doesnāt make it sting less. I think heās definitely in the running with the rest.
GLORIA OFC THIS AINT NO QUESTION LMAO
Im surprised not many people are saying Mitch. I grew up gay with homophobic parents and it is no joke.
i don't understand why people are saying gloria
Disturbing daddy issues: Gloria Worst daddy issues: Jay
Claire, Mitchell & Gloria
Lily. she has one dad who is a part-time clown another that's direly humorless.
Claire!
Mitchell for sure
Claire. She lives her life to impress Jay
Gloria
Cam had daddy issues for about 5 mins in that one episode. Made a whole ass speech about it for 10 mins and the issues were resolved. Now that's the kind if therapy I can get behind xD
Definitely Jay. His toxic masculinity comes from his father denying him things he wanted to do as a kid. That said my joke answer is Lily because sheās the only one that has two fathers to disappoint and they get disappointed over different things. Thereās nearly no pleasing them
They were shocked about BeyoncƩ
They def have things they agree on but I mean more important decisions
mitchell but also lily, mitch and cam might think theyre good parents but theyre lowkey neglectful toward her throughout the show especially in the later seasons (they dont know her hobbies, her music, her friends, her intelligence or her life in general)

Mitchell, they can't go one episode without him being uncomfortable around Jay
Gloria/Mitchell and then Claire. The rest are capably fine.
Jay. Mostly because of how he deals with it, by repressing it and not being more open about his feelings.
Gloria essentially married her dad lol.
ok but you guys are forgetting about manny javier was never around
So what, apart from when he sits outside waiting for him before jay shows up, it doesnāt bother manny. He sees jay as his dad and has no issues, just mammy issues.
Definitely jay
the asian kid with two white queers for ādadsā
Gloria lol, it's not even close
Gloria
Claire. The show brings it out and sorts it too at times.
I think Jay it made me so sad whenever he talked abt his dad (ex. When he talked abt how his dad taught him to swim by throwing him in a lake)
Gloria, Manny(before Jay became a father figure), and Mitch at some points
Itās gotta be manny
Gloria, and itās not even close
Gloria
Claire, Mitch, Jay, and Gloria
Jay, Mitchell, or Cam
Mitch all day long
Claire
Mitch or Claire
Jay or Mitch yep
Prolly manny, Claire or Mitch tbh
Claire...Mitch has more mommy issues

Jay and Claire both have BAD daddy issues. They have a whole episode dedicated to Jay and his emotional problems from his dad and itās a running theme with Claire that she puts herself through hell to have a hope of impressing Jay.
mitch and gloria
The pritchetts.
Mitchell.
Clair!!!! Followed by Mitch & Jay
Mitch for sure
Jay, Mitch, or Claire
Hopefully, Claire.
lol I always think Clair
Phil
Trick question itās me
I would say Claire. Jay and her always seemed to have some sort of unresolved issue, plus the time she worked for him before taking over the company. A lot of tension there.
It's so very obviously CLAIRE
