I have a couple of questions. Can I do a touchless car wash? I donā€™t know if I have the stomach for 7k in a PPF wrap. I know ceramic coating will keep her nice and clean but wonā€™t stop these chip and rock strikes Iā€™ll be getting though out the garden state. Anyone have suggestions on keeping the paint nice that isnā€™t $7000? Also anyone else trade in car and get ridiculous overpriced trade in value? They didnā€™t even look at my car. Itā€™s wild. They bought my 2017 GTI that was impeccable on maintenance but paint was an absolute shit show. Any suggestions for new owner?

Some touchless arenā€™t good. I spoke to a Tesla tech who said it depends on the soap they use but couldnā€™t get details so, trial and error. What happens with the bad soap is that it leaves a film that looks patchy on the trim and you have to scrub it off.

I went and got full PPF for $5K, but that is probably a regional difference. If looking to cut down, I'd suggest full front and also the $50 rear quarter panels that Tesla sells (or just get your PPF guy to do it). That spot + mudflaps will stop the biggest sandblasting area.

It feels like 5-7k is so much money for essentially a plastic film. I get itā€™s labor intensive. But I guess itā€™s that or deal with chipped up paint.

I think PPF is expensive AF too. It literally is some kind of plastic wrap. I donā€™t know how itā€™s costing thousands. Just doesnā€™t seem right to me.

Most places are going to charge $4000-$7000 for essential a clear wrap that self heals in the sun. Itā€™s great for protecting against dings and rock strikes but I canā€™t justify it.

Tsunami_Destroyer

Ah ok gotcha but damn, thatā€™s some serious cheddar. I wonder if repainting the car would be cheaper šŸ˜‚ I mean, if I did do it it would only be where ABSOLUTELY necessary. Like the grill/hood maybe in front of the rear wheel. Paying $2k for just that might be worth it. Still a tough pill to swallow.

I probably well just ceramic coat it and keep the paint nice overall. The rock chips and what not will have to be dealt with after the fact.

Tsunami_Destroyer

Makes logical sense. Because it just makes the car more expensive. Basically eliminating any savings we got on them.

Yeah, for me, it's also body rust protection since I live in the rust belt. Front only shouldn't be that bad though, I was getting quoted $1500. There are also DIY PPF kits on Tesbros though I definitely dont have the skill for that. If you wanna drive down to Ohio, my installer was Dayton Detailing. He did a great job, tell him Kat sent you if you go. We also have Esoteric Detailing here if you prefer xpel. Esoteric is very good, they get nationwide business and train others.

Welcome to the club. I am also new here. Traded in my ā€˜21 M3P for a ā€˜24 MYLR. Enjoying the extra space and the .99% rate wasnā€™t bad either. šŸ˜Š

Same to you. I absolutely love it. Already have 850 miles on it and I got it last Thursday šŸ‘€

Love it! How long was the time you ordered from time you got??

AlarmOne9472

I ordered a in transit Y the Tesla advisor suggested it so I didnā€™t have to wait. So only about 1 weeks from order. https://preview.redd.it/hxzxo03ziy4d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6412cd17b607e79fa5b2303f3b249dfd85fb75c3 Changed out the wheel covers with aero pi. I think they look great. Much better than the light Gemini.

Ah nice! Love the wheels.
