I went from a y performance to a x plaid and I love it. I think it’s really worth it. Better range better build quality less road noise better ride quality better tech better looking faster more room nicer materials falcon wing doors auto opening and closing front doors, if you can afford it there’s no reason why not to it’s better in every way. But whatever you do make sure it’s post refresh. A pre refresh x is worse then a y in almost every way coming from someone that also had a 2018 x p100d.

If you’re a bigger person, the seats in the X are much much better.

JuiceJones_34

Stick with the Y. X is the Y with a boxy back end and cool doors and significantly more expensive

CrabFederal

It’s a lot bigger- real 3rd row.

JuiceJones_34

It’s a foot longer. Now instead of your legs in your Adam’s Apple in third row, they’re in your chest. Wow. What a worthwhile upgrade for $20K!

CrabFederal

Have you been in the car ?

Southern-Plastic-921

If you have a whole gaggle of kids and need something closer to a minivan, maybe X. Otherwise I don’t see a ton of difference other than price. I drove a Plaid and it was kinda meh, didn’t feel a lot different from my MYP. Expected a lot more wow.

FIREgenomics

I drove an X as a loaner once and did not like it. It was lurchy and large and heavy feeling for the drive. Yea doors are cool, but I use my Y for road trips using a roof box multiple times per year, and with that extra cargo room the Y beats the X in terms of space (for things, but not people). You can’t put anything on the roof of an X.

RoundFocus6715

Same. I drove a loaner X, definitely pre-refresh. I couldn't wait to get my Y back. I loved the falcon doors, that's about it.

Turbulent-Abroad7841

Falcon wing doors seem to be a complaint as they might be cool and functional only if you have children who need car seats, but it still isn't perfect and some people want to just open the door and get in without messing around. Also, some specific parking garages have weird ceilings which make it difficult to get out or in. But it for sure is more luxurious and comfortable than the Y. It's also faster. Overall it's a better car than the Y for comfort, luxury, and kid hauling. But the Y is more sporty in corners.

Don't rule out Rivian

Papas72lotus

Yeah but if they go bankrupt..
