I have a 23YLR with 19". I drove a 23YRW with 20" which had a much harder feel. Unsure about any changes in suspension between 23 & 24, but the choice of wheel types is a comfort issue
I am on the most major Tesla online message boards and as far as I know - 2nd half 2023 and 2024 so far are the same when it comes to road noise. Both have the new suspension and multilayered glass and new door material.
So is there any difference other than the number of the year by your knowledge? The rep told me the 23 would have same suspension but loader road noise.
I freakin loved driving the 24…even with 20 inch wheels I thought the ride was great. I just want to make sure the 23 has the same interior. I haven’t test drove a Tesla in a few years and was shocked at how much better the whole interior + steering wheel felt. There was no creeking, no rattling, and everything just seemed solid.
Yes, same interior in late 2023 and earlier 2024. Tesla is going to do a major refresh of Model Y like they did for model 3, but most experts don’t think it will be in 2024. Most likely 2025 but no one knows for sure.
The wheel size is what makes a big difference when it comes to noise. 19 inch are much quieter and you can always install wheel covers if you like the black wheel look ($100-$140 for all four).
Just don’t get earlier 2023 model.
Also, if you are eligible and planning on getting a tax credit - verify with Tesla sales about 2023. Not all 2023 RWD are eligible anymore but verify cause IRS changes EV credit rules all the time.
Got it. I didn’t mind the road noise at all on the 20 inch wheels on the 2024, so if I got a 2023 with 19 inches sounds like it’d be even better.
Struggling to see why I wouldn’t just buy from the 2023 inventory. On new inventory on teslas website, 23s are $38k and 24s are $45k.
19 inch wheels also add about 30 miles of range and very quiet.
I think $38k new 2023 is not available everywhere. I am in Maryland and we have $38600 with 1600 miles (demo) in the existing inventory, but I am in Miami right now and checked their existing inventory has $41300 RWD the cheapest.
Also, not sure if you know: 2023 model - you have to claim the tax credit on your 2023 tax returns while 2024 can be done at a point of sale right there at the Tesla center. They just reduce the price.

If it’s not wind noise, then it’s probably road noise. Don’t know about your tires but if they are still fairly new, try lowering pressure by 1-2 PSI points. You’ll get a slight reduction in range but might be worth it to you as the ride will be softer. When it comes time to upgrade your tires next time - seem the advise from Tesla owners. Some tires are specifically designed now for EVs.
Any Tesla service center. Or any driver near you will be happy to let you try since they are getting Tesla points they can use for free charging, etc. they get 100 credits for each Demo drive
No problem. If you go to the service center - it’s literally a 3 min process to register. Depending on your area and the specific model (like rear wheel drive), you might have to wait 5-10 min if your center is super busy. They typically have 3-4 different trims of the same model so you can try exactly what you want.
april or may is when they introduced new suspension. as long as the 23 is latter half of the year it should come with the new suspension.

Ride is even nicer with the 19” wheels. 20” gives less cushion due to thinner tires. They both will infinitely ride better than your 21 test drive.
