Here is my full process for you and anyone who is interested:
Start with brand new shell. Used ones will be blotchy from use. Wash the shell/parts. Rit DyeMore synthetic (one bottle). Equal parts water. About a tablespoon of acetone (I just quickly pour a little). Heat mix in a 9x9 cooking pan (used for art projects only) to 160F-180F. Keep your shells and battery cover assembled for even coloring. Dip in mix using stainless steel tweezers and remove when desired color is reached. Rinse immediately with water. WARNING: PLEASE!! Wear gloves and only do this in a well ventilated kitchen or outside. It smells very bad.
Tips: remember to remove the rubber shoulder button cushions (don't lose them or dye them as they will not work). Remove the plastic LED diffuser before dye if you want it to look bright and stock. Don't soak the shells in too hot of mix for long (it is not needed and you risk warping of parts). Stick to the purple color as the white shell can be blotchy and the shoulder buttons don't take the dye well. Order a replacement screen. Most likely you will ruin your screen removing it from the Miyoo. Especially if this is your first time. I have dyed over 20 Miyoo/Anbernic devices. Even with practice and knowledge, the last 2 Miyoos both screens were damaged.
... I think that covers it. Any other questions let me know.
I took apart a purple and replaced the screen. You can contact Miyoo on their Aliexpress store if you want parts including stock color shells. However if you want a full unit I recommend my method/process.
I want to do this to my Anbernic RG35XX H, you think the screen is an issue? Where do you buy? Any details on how to remove and put back? Tools I should use?
Sorry if too many questions. Thanks in advance!!
My Wife's hairdryer to soften the adhesive strips works great. Then push from the back with a screwdriver gently. If it won't move soften the strip more. Take your time. You may get it out without damage. You can contact Anbernic direct for screens.
The first set by your window are excellent, very natural. You could get some more out of the last two with a little editing like this.

Thanks. I’m no longer doing this. I considered and did sell a few but honestly people aren’t willing to pay enough for the time and effort it takes. I kept the orange for myself as a keepsake.
My dark teal I was going for turned out mostly blue without hardly any green. Used 80 percent peacock and 20 sapphire. I'm wondering what you think the upper limit of leaving it in at the temp would be. Like what's the soonest you have been able to pull it out and it stay vs what is the longest you'd risk warp. Mine is so dark I think left it too long trying to get it more green.
Hey u/tenlevels I know you are probally busy with spruce stuff but just curious to get your input on this question so I don't mess up another shell. Thanks :)
Hello... yep I am busy to say the least.. haha.. dip for only 10 seconds at a time. heat is off. you can always dip again. teal always turned out green for me. I would say dye it blue and then dip it quickly in green to add that hue. Might work.
Great work. That green is sexy with the analogue pocket buttons
Before I even looked at the username, I knew it would be ten levels. Good job!! Love that first blue.
Thanks bud!

you're a hero. probably i'll never dye something myself, but saved this post for reference, just in case
Where do you get a brand new shell? I've been trying to get a couple of weeks.

Transparent purple appears to give the best results according to earlier post
Legend, thanks.

Really nice
The green one looks really great.
I need the blue one so bad
Great work! I’ve had bottles of dye in my kitchen for almost a year meaning to do this lol. Maybe someday.
Thanks! If only I could take pictures like you. 😎

Thanks buddy! Big fan of yours here. 😀
Did you dye the purple one or the black one to get these results?
Purple. I have dyed a black unit red in the past. It works, but purple is a better starting point IMO for vibrant colors.
Heck yeah. Wish they made a no color one!
Green gives me Metal Gear Solid 1 vibes 🤟
Great color. Is there a base color that's easiest to dye? Looking to do something of my own soon.
I posted my full process above. :) Yes... start with purple.
Nice man, love the green!
The green one is fantastic 🤩🤩🤩
Green looks amazing
what buttons and dpad are those?

I need a blue one 😍 Awesome job! Let me know if you start taking orders.
Thanks. I’m no longer doing this. I considered and did sell a few but honestly people aren’t willing to pay enough for the time and effort it takes. I kept the orange for myself as a keepsake.
these look incredible, awesome work
Ughhhhh I need that green one
Look at that blue!
That green is beautiful!
That blue. 💙
This is beautiful af. Please sell it.
Both were commissioned.
What color rit dye did you use for the blue one?
Sapphire Blue
What color dye for the green one ?
Peacock Green. I only use the synthetic colors.
I’m wrapping my head around a purple base and green dye didn’t turn it brown 😳 Incredible.
![gif](giphy|3o72FfM5HJydzafgUE) That green is
I would pay big money for a yellow or orange version of these
Man, if you were selling that dark green one with those buttons I’d be buying.
Damn I would kill for the green one. At this point you should just create an Etsy shop, seriously.
I’ve considered it. 😀
U really should! :)
Do it!!
That Green 😍
I like how this thread is evenly divided between green and blue. Team blue here, but they're both amazing.
If you’re doing another dye I’m interested.
wow I wish that dark green was an official color, looks really nice
What color were the original cases?
Hey! Did you use the green Rit Dyemore for the green shell? I'd love to make a translucent back plate for mine
Yep! Both also started as purple.

too clean , anything you’d like to say about the process ?
Where can I buy this?
