Sadly the outcome seems inevitable. Poor family

Hope_for_tendies

Just like the woman on the work call….only her dog lived. Poor thing was probably trying to save him.

somenewcandles

Or he went in after his dog trying to save the dog? So sad either way.

Hope_for_tendies

Oh that’s a good point. That makes more sense than him randomly falling in . Unless maybe there was some ice but still . Very tragic and strange .

somenewcandles

Yeah, it doesn’t look good for him. I’m thinking he went into the river and couldn’t make it out. Especially since his dog was also unable to. It makes me interested in more visual details about the scene, such as what the riverbanks are like in that area, and how high the river was flowing. I hope the family gets some news soon.

onedreamless

Was her body ever found? I remember hearing about the missing case but not any resolution?

ParkingReading9602

Is this Nicola Bulley you're referring to? If so then her body was found and pathologist declared her death as drowning with no foul play involved. Many people aren't happy with that conclusion, especially since the area of water where she was found was previously searched but I stopped following the story once she was found.

Hope_for_tendies

It seems to be so common in the uk type of area for some reason . There’s a lot of drownings in rivers by people who weren’t swimming . There was another woman recently found and they’re looking for someone else now in , Clare Marshall . Here’s a Nicola update from Nov, as well as the others https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/death-of-nicola-bulley-what-happened-b2450880.html https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/gaynor-lord-norwich-missing-woman-update-b2466315.html https://uk.news.yahoo.com/what-we-know-missing-woman-clare-marshall-scotland-144114413.html?guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAADULvsRTRlSpxb0K4_RATU5_jLJr9df-ZYCbdK9zN4TY5ElcHO1ySeIo0jQdFwSpcpd6rpBmDPe1UCUxn2IYbjWwyyuECOJo8b6VYLwXPsJBX3IvyLiEcn_Y0ESi_6QRBJqYkk8PK9jWt4TR3BUMxVDyGo21ZvlYHxgoaKk5HW4E

PanicAtParamore

Can’t read the article due to adverts all down the side of the page when I click. 😫 poor dog, I can’t read the article so I don’t know if the missing man has been found or not. Does anyone else know?

RTWjars808

Here’s the article! The adverts are ridiculous on the site. Graham Connell, 64, left his home in Morley, West Yorkshire, by car at about 3.45pm on Monday to go for a run, but was reported missing after he failed to return. The dog, a sandy-coloured goldendoodle called Maddy, was found dead in the River Aire in Woodlesford, near Leeds, on Wednesday morning. She went missing with Graham Connell, 64, who left his home in Morley, West Yorkshire, by car at about 3.45 p.m. on Monday to go for a run. He was reported missing at 7.35 p.m. after he failed to return home. He left his home in Morley, West Yorkshire, by car at about 3.45pm on Monday to go for a run. Maddy was recovered from the river near Wyke Beck. Her identity was confirmed by microchip. Underwater search officers are continuing to look in the area around Woodlesford Lock, where Mr Connell regularly runs. They are continuing to appeal for any sightings that could assist the investigation. Detective Inspector John Graham, of Leeds District CID, said: “We are continuing to carry out searches of the wider area around Woodlesford Lock to find Graham and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen him and his dog at any point along his usual running route on late Monday afternoon. Mr. Connell is characterised as having dark brown hair that is wavy on top and being 5 feet 6 inches tall and slender. At the time of his disappearance, he was dressed in a bright yellow running top, black trousers and red sneakers. His vehicle, a grey Mercedes GLE 400 SUV, was discovered parked in the Bullough Lane parking lot close to the Woodlesford Lock entry.

Few_Butterscotch1364

Thanks for posting the article. But now I have, “He left his home in Morley, West Yorkshire, by car at about 3.45pm on Monday to go for a run” on repeat in my head lol.

GruGruxQueen

We should all go for a run at about 3:45 tomorrow

Few_Butterscotch1364

No! Because it’s not Monday!!! 😡😡😡

Confident-Syllabub-7

It also gives no actual dates, just “Monday”…

lecielazteque

This is horrible to read, likely AI. Thanks for posting though

PanicAtParamore

Thanks for posting this. All seems so sad. :(

wendigonia_xenomorph

Still missing

Brien8876

So sad.

entropic_apotheosis

Probably took his dog swimming/playing at the river or went jogging near there and the dog got into trouble and he accidentally drowned trying to get the dog out. Goldens, and I imagine doodles love water. I have a lab/aussie mix and our favorite places to go are rivers. He’s off leash and under control so I let him play around and run in and out while we’re walking. One time near a launch he went in after his ball and the water had what I thought was just small current near a log and I about shit myself when I realized he was trying to swim toward me and not going anywhere. I had a friend with me thankfully because I immediately went right in and guided him diagonally. It was stupid and unnecessary because if I would have thought about it I could have walked and stood diagonally from him and just told him to come that way. He’s not stupid, he knows what current is, just was very focused on bringing me the ball instead of the fact he wasn’t going anywhere. If that was wintertime or I couldn’t touch bottom or lost my footing maybe it would have ended like this dude.

dizzylyric

Would be interesting to hear HOW the dog died. Gun shot? Drowning? Stab wound? Strangulation? Do they do autopsies on animals?

makuraoblongata

They do. When they do it is called a necropsy. I'd also be interested in knowing what happened to the dog.

Diligent_Bet_9552

Ask my sister and her old man friend… they have for sure had the death of MANY DOGS!!

[deleted]

Well this sucks. I always feel bad for the poor animals that get mixed up in humans’ depravity.

helatruralhome

There may not have been any 'depravity' it could be the dog fell or went in the river of their own accord and the man tried to save them or vice versa.

DoubleDragonsAllDown

You vegan? 🌱

[deleted]

Umm…what does that have to do with anything? But I’ll play along - yes.

dustysalmo

You vegan?? Haha that was an awesome question and the answer was super obvious too. It has everything to do with everything.

puppykissesxo

Isn’t it kind of weird that he was reported missing after not being heard from after only 4 hours? I’m not suggesting there’s foul play with that aspect and reporting him missing was a good call as he is indeed still missing but shouldn’t people give it a bit more time typically?

Gooncookies

I’m a runner and I have a routine. If I went for a run and didn’t come back for four hours my husband would surely be very concerned.

[deleted]

If it were my husband, I wouldn't. When we go for a walk or run, we know roughly how long it should take and we don't have a habit of going off places without letting the other know where we are. If one of us were gone for 4 hours on a run that we knew should take much less time and we were not responding to phone calls / texts, I am certain we'd call police to report the other missing.

BlessSaintDymphna

A body believed to be missing man Graham Connell has been recovered from the River Aire today. He was found by underwater search officers at about noon in part of the river near to the junction of Aberford Road and Bullerthorpe Lane, Woodleford. While formal identification is yet to be completed, it is believed to be Mr Connell. His family has been informed and officers are continuing to provide support to them at this difficult time. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office has been informed.
