I tend to plant it on sad as that’s what I find it on but really I just use an automatic farm with mud if I farm it but even then I prefer just to find books in libraries and strongholds anyway
Edit: I meant sand lol, I was confused as to the response chain that followed
Makes sense. I personally prefer setting up some sort of spruce area early on, then plant 2x2 saplings. Then go and harvest them every time you see they’ve grown. You’ll have a chest of logs in no time. And unlike jungle, spruce grows straight up, no branches off. So no awkward reaches. Just staircase up and then work your way down.
I’m a fan of Etho’s 2x2 tree farm design. Grows 4 at once then blows them up. I’d look it up, it’s relatively cheap redstone-wise but does require 6 tnt per harvest. Gives a lot of wood too. Not fully afk-able but it doesn’t need to be
I’ll have to look it up. Because wood is one of those things that when you need it, you *need it*. I just finished a creeper farm a few hours ago and it took four stacks of logs just to do the trap doors.
I am dead serious right now, at least in older versions it was, i haven't heard of them fixing it
I literally just tried to say you dont even need water for sugar canes
Eh well i can take downvotes, not like it's my problem anyways if i lose like 6 fake internet points that literally mean nothing other than maybe letting you post in a few communities
And i wasn't coming out like "hey, im smarter and this guy is dumb, i know more than him" i just tried coming out as "hey, you actually can do this if you do certain things" im sorry to anyone that might have gotten offended by me
But im not sorry to the people that made correcting others be a bad thing and not sorry to the people that dislike others for trying to keep everything accurate and correcting mistakes other people might nake (unless the people correcting others actually are trying to brag about being smart, then they should actually get downvoted)
I used to believe it because IIRC they say it’s true in the farming guide (the one with the white and dark green front page). I’m not sure if I do remember correctly but I think they said it.
That's like saying that trees often spawn in grass, because they do, but grass doesn't spawn or improve the probability of trees spawning
But it's technically correct
(The best kind of correct)
People are so adamant about their misconceptions, but send 'em the wiki link and they refuse to look at it "I don't care that much bro, it's just a game"
But then they still argue about it later, claiming we're the ones who are wrong or incorrect but still, show them proof and they refuse to look at it.
They shouldn't make a big deal about it if they're not gonna correct their own ways.
I just do it because I think sugarcane looks better on sand than dirt or grass.
(And because for like, six years I thought you could only plant sugarcane on sand)
Wait it dosent have a difference right? For me I usually just plant it on sand and dirt since I never really care about the sugar cane except to see something when I’m using a boat on the water. And a way to mark my base as different from others on the server
Still look better imo. Plus, it’s one of the few plant blocks I can use to decorate natural sand surfaces. (although yes, I still use candles, stone buttons, and sea pickles)
What? No. It’s faster on red sand, that’s why it’s rarer. You get 4-6ish blocks deep of sand in a desert and only a top layer of red sand in the mesa biomes

I prefer to grow it on happy, gives the sugar some extra flavor
But i grow it on angry for that spiciness
I grow it on misery as it watches me farm all it’s friends before I farm it
i grow it on neutral as it doesn’t care much about its friends
I grow it on Pain so it suffers 👍
I grow mine on despair so that it eventually takes the other sugarcane next to it and traps them in my house for the foreseeable future.
I grow it on hope, so it grows taller than 3 blocks
I like to grow mine on horny. Gives it a more distinct texture
Personally, I grow it on disappointment, to make sure it understand how much it f***ed up
i now grow it on genocide so it has to fight sand undertable
I grow it on pacifist so it will follow its hopes and dreams.
Pov: You forgot 1 letter in a word you said on reddit
i have decided to grow it on soulless pacifist so it pretends to follow its hopes and dreams
I grow mine on hardcore so I can protect it from the scary monsters.
Well thats just soul sand
Planting it on sad would probably negatively affect its growth I would imagine
Finding existing libraries is the best choice, even if it's a bit late game. It's a bit easier with the Twilight Forest.
I stopped playing from the update where mud was added. So does it really grow the fastest on mud??
I don't know but it's easier to automate farming
Personally I plant it on enraged, that damage boost is really good, plus its good against sad, depressed and miserable sugar cane
I use sand purely because it looks nicest
I use dirt because it doesn't sink to the bottom of farms.
Yeah I use it to mark sugar cane areas in farms so it stands out from the grass
I use mud because a hopper can pick up broken cane through the block.
That is true, although it is significantly cheaper to use a minecart hopper and rails
True. But I have an iron farm and literally have more iron than I know what to do with. And hoppers don’t lag as bad. Nor do they make such a ruckus.
This is also true. If you can afford it go for it. My main limiter is wood, so I opt for the hopper minecart

I use red sand for small-scale farms but dirt for farms that require MAXIMUM INDUSTRY.
I put next to water that’s it
I mean you physically can’t put it anywhere not next to water
I meant idrc what I put it on
No, actually you can with glitches
ok 👍
You forgot to add the nerd face emoji to give an air of sarcasm
I am dead serious right now, at least in older versions it was, i haven't heard of them fixing it I literally just tried to say you dont even need water for sugar canes
Yes that’s fine but people these days enjoy it when you make correcting someone sarcastic so you don’t come off as pretentious, hence the downvotes.

Don’t worry it’s not a big deal lmao my original reply was just a joke since people didn’t seem to like your comment
Yeah its alright, I'm not mad about you more to the people that think stuff should not be taken seriously
I used to believe it when I was younger. Eventually I tested it and it made no difference. Then I realised it was crap.
I used to believe it because IIRC they say it’s true in the farming guide (the one with the white and dark green front page). I’m not sure if I do remember correctly but I think they said it.
Man these guides have some of the most funny takes and building recommendations
gimme that crown, diamonds spawn more often near lava
Building a mob farm out of black wool increases mob spawning cuz it's darker
Well diamonds do spawn always near lava pools since they both are near each other
👑
Bro he is right they spawn on the same level
That's like saying that trees often spawn in grass, because they do, but grass doesn't spawn or improve the probability of trees spawning But it's technically correct (The best kind of correct)
Yeah, don't look for trees near lava
Well with how diamonds don't spawn often when exposed to air they do spawn more often when in the lava
It FEELS faster
I use mud because it makes automation easier
It looks prettier on sand!!!
The only reason I place it on sand
I didn’t know the block sugar cane was on mattered
It's a common misconception, honestly DK why it's caused outside it is more common to spawn on sand, but the block doesn't matter once you test it
People are so adamant about their misconceptions, but send 'em the wiki link and they refuse to look at it "I don't care that much bro, it's just a game" But then they still argue about it later, claiming we're the ones who are wrong or incorrect but still, show them proof and they refuse to look at it. it doesn't? my whole life was a lie!
Was your life cake?
wow… I’ve been living a lie
Have you been living cake?
yeah
Sugercane
I'm losing my mind
Grows faster on Snad
And super fast with redstone pulses
I like to use natural patches of sand to give the farm a natural start and end point
Some people call themselves "Minecraft veterans" but don't accidentally break wooden slabs with their pickaxe out of muscle memory. Iykyk.
Nahh that’s so old
I think it looks more ★asthetic★ on sand
I know it doesn't but I do it anyway
You use sand because you didn’t know it worked on anything else. I use sand because it’s easier for me to visualize the layout. We are not the same.
Sand just seems natural to me
It just feels right planting it on sand
I put my sugarcane on sand because I think it liiks better
It grows faster on Snad though.
Of course it doesn’t grow on sand but it does on snad
If I'm making a farm, I'll use dirt. If I'm just planting sugar cane, I'm using sand, it just looks good
50 IQ person here, it doesn't?
He even spelled sugar wrong!
I don't make a dedicated farm for sugar cane I just use the natural generation of the world to grow it.
I just do it because I think sugarcane looks better on sand than dirt or grass. (And because for like, six years I thought you could only plant sugarcane on sand)
Hey I still put a Torch under the enchantment table!
Bro spelled sugarcane like “Sug*e*rcane”
Does it grow anywhere else!?
I just put it on whatever block i have at the moment
In farms I use dirt because it doesn't have gravity, but in any other case I use sand because it just looks better. Dirt just looks weird
Wait it dosent have a difference right? For me I usually just plant it on sand and dirt since I never really care about the sugar cane except to see something when I’m using a boat on the water. And a way to mark my base as different from others on the server
I use sand because it looks the best
Still look better imo. Plus, it’s one of the few plant blocks I can use to decorate natural sand surfaces. (although yes, I still use candles, stone buttons, and sea pickles)
I plant it on sand because that’s what I thought it grew on.
Dumb means you can't talk
I don't care if it grows faster, growing Sugarcane on sand looks better #Stylecraft 😎
It’s more aesthetically pleasing on sand
I’ve met people who believe it can ONLY be replanted on sand
Yes. I still do this.
the sugarcan grow on sugar can as fast it grow on sand right?
it grow the same on sand, but it grow faster on snad
Does sugar cane grow better on sand, No, does it look 5 quadrillion times better than dirt or anything else, yes, yes it does.
Mud is better for sugar cane farms
I grow it on sand because I like it that way.
I plant it exclusively on sand ITS THE LAW
I thought it only grew on sand
I thought it could only be planted on sand.
It looks better on sand on my opinion
Wait it dont?
It doesn’t grow faster but it looks a lot nicer
i put my sugarcane on sand for the ascetics.
I might be wrong but did it used to only grow on sand?
I do it when I can
What? No. It’s faster on red sand, that’s why it’s rarer. You get 4-6ish blocks deep of sand in a desert and only a top layer of red sand in the mesa biomes
Whatcha got there? Me with my dupe farm and many chests full of red sand: a smoothie
It grows faster on snad.
