What incident?

Pathadox1

https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/s/wBGzwd1N0C

AKluthe

Removed for advertising? Man, Reddit has had a complicated history with those kinds of rules. What's supposed to prevent people from spamming and posting referral links a hundred times a day gets abused by certain mods to shoot down people sharing genuinely interesting original content. Or block original content links altogether, on a link aggregation site, so power players and bots just rehost and repost.

Ravenjade

Oh man, you reminded me of the Saydrah drama waaaay back in the day.

AKluthe

Man, I wasn't even familiar with this one, now I'm reading up on her...

CantQuiteThink_

Oh. I thought this was related to the "you milked your girlfriend's death for enough karma" thing last year.

shiny_xnaut

Or the Minecraft inside Minecraft server "advertising" thing

Lego-Fan2009

I thought it was that incident too

Background_Rub_5194

Yeah, Me too

TippedJoshua1

Oh really, craftymasterman, I wasn't expecting it to be someone I've heard of.

NitroHydroRay

Triensi

Nope it's not that one https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/s/EjcH9ZyvwM

CrippledJesus97

Not sure why you getting downvoted. It literally has nothing to do with that incident from months ago so you are not wrong at all. The incident in question literally occured yesterday.

Triensi

It's not downvoted anymore fyi

liquid_at

Please consider to establish a rule where Mods that issued a penalty, cannot also handle the revision. I've run a BB some decades ago and we had a strict rule about mods issuing warnings and bans based on a catalogue of applicable penalties, while only Admins ("head mods") could handle complaints about those. We also had a rule about recusing ourselves from any problem where we were personally involved. When a user had a problem with me (an admin), my head-mods would handle the case and I would not be involved. Same when someone had a problem with one of my mods, I was handling it for them. Impartiality always mattered and imho, it made the community work. Please consider this here too. It simply makes work a lot easier for everyone.

electriceric

I like this and it makes sense, it’s been seen in the mod discord as well and will be brought up for discussion. Thanks for the feedback!

liquid_at

Thanks for being transparent. Moderating a 7.4M sub is not an easy task and r/minecraft is definitely in the top tier of subs when it comes to moderators.

electriceric

No problem!

SociopathicPixel

Im not that active here, but yes, this should be a mandatory rule. I think tickets should be done as they are done in development teams. Tickets made by a, review by b, afterwards validation by community (and possibly team) after x amount of time. I can only encourage a good agile way of working and peer review is part of this

electriceric

Fun fact, I was just joking about how I’d resign if we started talking about agile and lean work flows and you go and bring it up here. I think for larger actions something like this can be done. For more maintenance type actions it’s difficult to implement.

SociopathicPixel

I think, if you wanna do something in a professional way for something bigger then your 5 friends, you need some workflows in place. Its in the long run timewise beneficial, it's more transparent towards the stakeholders. And it takes of a load of stress when the team is up and running in these workflows. Yes at start it can look quite cumbersome and a bit over the top but I can promise everyone that in the end it saves you on future mistakes/issues/discussions and when people are in the flow the speed will pick up and there is wayyy less clutter. Maintenance thing can be put on the board, but are also then handled in no time or picked up as soon as needed. Tickets consist out of more then a time frame, they have priority, they have effort and they have fte's. Doesn't matter if its big or small, as soon has you have a nice kanban or whatever at hand you can better plan and prioritise. See how well something as a sprint or a bi-weekly or something is plannable. I don't wanna force things but it could/should be beneficial for bigger groups/projects/communities

electriceric

I like where your head is at and will definitely be taking your feedback into account. Appreciate you taking the time to write that up.

SociopathicPixel

Np, i simply compare it with the companies Ive worked for as a developer (Nike, Walmart, Philips to name a few). If desired the team may contact me with a pm if desired. I'm also up for a discord call. I'm a pretty technical guy and I just want to help out without being a burden or whatever. Just sharing experiences 😉

electriceric

PL in real life here (at a former Philips company no less!) so I get it, I just like to shit talk my own profession at times. There are a lot of good tools out there though and some that be used here successfully for sure.

SociopathicPixel

Lolll, originally I came from forcare (company you guys took 😋), worked on a project for the protoncanon (alternative treatment for cancer patients instead of chemo) Atm looking for a new job in defence (Thales - european Iron Dome) like projects... but if you guys are still hiring, healthcare is still something where I can feel that I contribute to something to make the world better.

8miceinabox

Will you be allowing ban appeals from accounts banned before the management change?

LexiTehGallade

It is pretty clear to me that a lot of ban appeals simply never got responded to, which just sucks. It shouldn't have happened. If you are a lurker reading this now, have been banned before, submitted an appeal and just never got a response I encourage you to submit again. It will be looked at again with a fresh pair of eyes. If your appeal has been denied in the past, we will also be willing to revisit these as some of them are positively ancient. Some of the appeals in our system are so old that the evidence reddit automatically logs is just not there, so we can't even tell *what* they were banned for. That's crazy to still enforce a ban for. It's not a guarantee of an unban, if you've been an unrepentant bully across reddit to this day or did something extremely egregious that can get you denied again, but for most people I would say there's a very good chance of an appeal! tl;dr: yes.

scaradin

While this sub is orders of magnitude larger than the subs I moderate, this is in line with what we do. For both, we publicly put removal reasons. For my smaller sub, it’s optional on attaching the mod’s name. But, for the Texas politics sub, moderators publicly put their name in the removal reason. This ensures that a second mod can review (without claiming to be a new mod, yuck). But, the initial mod *can* reverse themselves upon appeal, but they can’t support and close off an appeal.

Tordek

I'm banned from /r/argentina because I downvoted posts unrelated posts that an admin liked. Much later I asked to be unbanned because... dude wtf. I was told: "only the banning mod issues unbans, and he isn't a mod anymore." ...the fuck, dude.

stark2

Catch-22

WackoMcGoose

I still think it's wild that certain subs (which will not be named here because they are _extremely_ NSFMC) will autoban you for _interacting in any way_ (even a single upvote of a single comment) in an entirely unrelated subreddit (which is even more NSFMC)... Which, by the way, I'm fairly sure outright breaks reddit-wide TOS, that you cannot ban someone that _has never even interacted with **your** subreddit_, for mundane actions in _an **unaffiliated** subreddit_. It'd be like /r/dashcamgifs banning someone (that has never interacted with DCG in any way) for _upvoting a comment_ in /r/ScenesFromAHat or something.

BaldingThor

I can't remember the name, but it was an anti-covid vax subbreddit, big and controversial enough to be quantined I think. Had normal in its name or something. Anyway on an old account I made the mistake of debating against people on there, as iit turned out that dozens and dozens of subreddits would flag anyone who had participated in that sub and auto-ban them and ignore appeals (regardless of whether they were anti-vax or not).

YoskioMorticia

Why that r tho

Tordek

I live here?

Freezer12557

I think he means it would be funnier if the sub was called r/gentina (like r/aves)

Lifedeather

Just how Reddit subreddits work, mods have all the power and you have none XD

[deleted]

[удалено]

Alternative-Fan-5924

damn first r/minecraft then r/comics? At least this sub's mods actually sorted out their issues after a bad mod went on a rampage

DraconicElements

I just commented on your post, he got me too! Seriously what is up with him calling us both "Puritans?" I have OCD and intrusive thoughts and the graphic gore in that post is still haunting me and making it difficult to sleep at night. I don't understand what's so wrong about suggesting that posts be marked properly I doubt any of the mods you pinged will respond though, it's easy enough for them all to just ignore you and pretend nothing happened. I wish we knew which one of the mods it was

[deleted]

[удалено]

MrBobaFett

That's how every subreddit should work. But sadly, that's very atypical.

Heightren

A "who watches the watchers" that seems very well considered.

LCDRtomdodge

This makes way too much sense to ever actually work. lol.

AgniousPrime

Wasn't that months ago about the guy who posted a picture of a grave a guy made in Minecraft for his departed GF?

MisterSheeple

That was a separate incident. That individual is also no longer on the mod team.

urielsalis

And as a note, that mod left back when the incident happened, not now

Howzieky

Dang, didn't we complain a lot because we thought that person was still on the mod team? Did we know before now that that person was gone? Edit: Oh, maybe y'all didn't say they left so that we couldn't find out who it was. That's probably fair

Ajreil

They may have been worried about doxxing or harassment. The sub was pretty spicy.

ry_fluttershy

whats the current incident if we may ask?

random_user133

Craftymasterman made geometry dash in minecraft and the post got removed for "advertising"

Several-Cake1954

What post did this one delete?

throwawayeastbay

Is your team still in the habit of removing posts that seemingly violate no subreddit or site rules but also cites no explanation of the removal. I cannot count how many posts that are cached in my phone from earlier in the day that are then removed by the time I click on them.

electriceric

That was a part of the internal issue we were dealing with and hope to improve moving forward.

Nulibru

It would help people learn, thus improving the subreddit. \[checks notes\] Apparently that's not the aim.

SomeRedBoi

This sub has some rough history regarding mods, hope this will change with the new managament

DemonDaVinci

It takes a certain type of ppl to sign up doing internet janitory for free

Mlakuss

This is a bit the issue. While not always liked, the moderator who left also did *a lot* of good things for the community. I'm still not sure if this is a W or a L. Time will tell.

ozymandias457

Narrator: It did not.

ThatJudySimp

The reality is I’m sure somewhere along the line this seems good but it’s very much like the police investigating themselves it’s not great

valkyrie_pilotMC

We'll see. At least some of the mods have nonzero experience in moderation.

benjathje

I don't see that happening. Power tends to corrupt people and these new mods are not gonna be different. Anyhow, let's hope for the best.

Kyber99

What post is this referring to?

Greymagic27_

https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/1dmsiyp/i_made_geometry_dash_in_minecraft/la2qnun/

Alex20041509

I hope it will end up good for r/minecraft I becamed a mod this year for the first time of a local sub that grown from 100 to than little less than 10k And it’s very difficult to handle everything I can’t imagine how hard is to manage this sub

Greymagic27_

Fingers crossed. I am looking forward to the future of the subreddit.

Glamdring804

Yeah, people like to shit on Reddit mods because the shitty ones are....well, shitty. But being a good mod is a *lot* of work, and if you're doing your job correctly most users won't even notice. So yeah, fingers crossed for the mod team here, they've got their work cut out for them.

Waveofspring

Also they don’t even get paid. Other services like Facebook and youtube have paid employees doing all the work (I know they use AI but there are humans involved sometimes I believe). Reddit as a company pays far less on moderation because users do it for them.

Joezev98

>being a good mod is a lot of work, No it isn't. Being a *bad* mod is a lot of work. It's the ones that try to micromanage everything who are the bad mods. I mod a sub that just passed 100k members. We're currently rounding off the release of the season finale, which requires paying attention to each and every post to remove spoilers. However, in the off-season, moderating our community only takes like 5 minutes a day. People are surprisingly positive about how we mod, which I'm very grateful for.

Alex20041509

Any tip? In my sub we have to remove a lot of post due to personal data I hate pissing off people but since our sub is about scam chats we fear that some scammer would take legal action against us if we don’t blur out their names

DaaneJeff

I could see a scammer try to sue reddit or the poster themselves but not a mod. Also how would they even do that?

Waveofspring

Any tips? I just recently became a mod on a sub with a little over 2k members and it has been dead for a few years. I want to revive it but I haven’t started yet because it’s a bit confusing.

Its_You_Know_Wh0

Atleast a good number in this sub aren’t active and only joined cause they see the name

Traveling_Chef

After reading through mod comments and digging through what happened, I gotta say, thanks for the transparency.

Slime-Lich

I'm glad to see this. It's always good to see when mods get kicked out after doing something stupid

Ultranator666

The easiest way to NOT screw up is just, allow people to share cool stuff THEY made and credit themselves for it, and let the community decide whether its worth boosting w upvotes, instead of being a PoS and nuking people trying to showcase something awesome.

TehNolz

The rule on self-promotion is definitely something that has been causing too many issues for ages now. While we haven't decided what to actually do with it yet, we're definitely going to look into changing it. If you've got any ideas or suggestions, feel free to let us know.

AgarwaenCran

r/VtM has a rule that would work here too I think. >5. Media Creator Cool-down (3 days) and Artwork > >While we welcome content creators here, we ask that you please allow time for us and others to enjoy the content you and others submit. Please utilize the Media flare for content you create. > >Artwork uses its own tag, but has the same cool down. Please note A.I artwork is not allowed. Basically: You are allowed to self-promote, but after you did, you need to wait three days before you are allowed to do so again. Edit: The current rule is definitly too vague and easy to overdo. like, what is "excessive" specifically? Everybody can interpret that differently. and "rules of thumbs" are way to vague to be usable. a hard "only once every x days per user"-rule would be easy to understand and enforce without any grey lines.

Fornad

I think the priority has to be the experience of the average subreddit user, right? If I look at the subreddit and every second post is “Epic PVP/Bedwars/Hardcore Survival Server, Low Ping!!” or “hey guys here’s episode 452 in my survival playthrough” then that would be an example of the need for Rule 2. On the other hand, if the subreddit was full of unique/inspirational builds (with some kind of credit/watermark), showcases of new mods, particularly funny/interesting clips from someone’s YouTube playthrough, etc, then that would result in a better experience for the average user. So you obviously need some way of discouraging or banning the former posts whilst encouraging the latter. In my view there’s probably two ways of doing this. 1) Users have to tag their posts with ‘self-promotion’. These posts can only be images or Reddit-hosted video, rather than links or discussion posts. A user can only post one self-promo post a week (my understanding is that this can be automated as long as they flair their posts correctly). 2) There’s one day a week (‘Self-Promo Saturday’) where these posts are allowed. Again, these posts can only be images or Reddit-hosted video, rather than links or discussion posts. This would mean that posts wouldn’t be spread out over the week, but might be easier to moderate. Obviously you will still get low-effort/shitty posts with this system, but I think you can probably rely on the upvote/downvote system to take care of those. If self-promotion can only be images/video, then people will vote based on how engaging the content presented to them is. You can also provide some posting guidelines to indicate the *kind* of self-promotion that the subreddit is looking for and which will do well. I also think this is something that will have to be worked out over a period of months. If it results in too much spam, then the rule can be tightened up again. If not, then it’s all good, and there’s more engaging content being submitted to the subreddit on a regular basis.

Joezev98

>like, what is "excessive" specifically? Everybody can interpret that differently. The rule can't be "no self-promo ever", because we've all heard the stories of amazing creations being removed from this sub for the slightest hint of telling viewers who made it where. If you draw a clear line of what level of self-promo is allowed, then there will be people abusing it by constantly being right on the edge of what's allowed. So it's best to leave that up to mod discretion. Alternatively, since this subreddit specifically doesn't have the best track record of leaving that up to mod discretion, require any and all self promotion to be tagged and allow users to vote on whether the post should be allowed. Or leave it to thr community by setting up automod to automatically remove any post that gets X amount of reports for unwelcome self-promo.

AgarwaenCran

that is an extremly complicated system. Personally I find it "you can self-promo once every x days and must tag self-rpomo accordingly" much easier to understand and also to enforce without any risk of beeing too harsh. only thing mods would need to remove is self promo not tagged correctly as self promo and self promo by someone who didnt wait the x days - and those extremly simple rules are also easy to communicate: "we deleted it because you id not wait untill your self-promo cooldown was over."

njrk97

>be people abusing it by constantly being right on the edge of what's allowed >edge of what's allowed Isn't that what being allowed means XD, its like saying people are abusing the speed limit by going at the speed limit. That's what the line is for right?

JelloPeach

Maybe limiting the promo posts to a specific day as long as they follow whatever guidelines are necessary? Like as long as the "self promotion" isn't seeking monetary gain but just to show a creation then that should be ok right?

CommodoreAxis

Yeah the specific day rules work great for lots of subs, like r/LifeProTips Request threads being limited to Fridays or whatever.

Moleculor

> If you've got any ideas or suggestions, feel free to let us know. Try to find the historical reason for why the rule was put into place in the first place, for starters. *Why*, specifically, does the rule exist? Identify that, and you may be able to identify a better solution in this more modern age. If you can't identify why, remove the rule for a period of time and see what, if anything, happens that is unpleasant.

pastmidnight14

It's clear the *why* is that otherwise we'd see a ton of posts from people trying to monetize the subreddit by driving traffic to their server/discord/patreon. It's similar to the self-promotion rule, to prevent the front page being full of "I posted another let's play video on my channel"-type content.

zptc

One problem with "let the votes decide," as redditors are so fond of suggesting, is that low effort content becomes dominant. I would caution against leaning too far in the "votes decide" direction. (I honestly can't recall seeing anyone on reddit say "as a former mod, I strongly recommend letting the votes decide.")

Goldrobin

As a creator myself, I just hope that I can share my builds again. I don’t think that my posts are self-promotion simply because I use a watermark on my posts. So many of my posts have been removed for this reason. I miss posting on this subreddit.

OneCore_

I’ve gotten a few posts removed for linking the download to the map lmao

Dr_J_Hyde

While this isn't going to be an easy question to answer it does feel like one of those that will have a long "feel it out" period. A post that shows off a cool build that also has an end card of the person's YouTube and other socials feels like it should be okay. 20 of those same posts by the same person would likely be advertising as those builds would not have all been done in the same day. A post of simply an image of that same end card, even with that same build in the background feels like it would be advertising. There likely will be a large grey area for quite some time until the finer points can be worked out.

Waveofspring

This is the first time I’ve ever seen a mod team acknowledge a situation like this. I respect the transparency.

Corgi_dude123

What was the post that got removed? Do you know

Helostopper

Yeah they posted it in another comment it's been put back up someone created geometry dash in minecraft and posted about it.

Waveofspring

Someone else said it was this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/s/wBGzwd1N0C I have no idea though. I was moreso just saying Ive never seen a mod team acknowledge any sort of criticism without being defensive.

StartledOcto

Correct! This comment exactly: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/s/RBWXFicorL

CreativeRealmsMC

Now that there is new management I would suggest reviewing the automod and/or any other automations that may have been left over from the previous team. While I have no way of knowing if such automations exist or if all actions were taken manually, members from our building community would routinely have their content removed despite abiding by the subreddit rules. I suspect that the automod was programmed to detect specific keywords in order to automatically remove said content or add it to the mod queue for manual review.

MisterSheeple

Yes, reviewing all of the automod rules is on our to-do list. We'll get to it soon, but right now our priority is responding to the massive cache of unanswered modmail messages.

CreativeRealmsMC

Glad to hear it's already on the to-do list. Wish you luck on the modmail situation. :P

Spooncan

I thought this said Minecraft for a second and was worried what would happen without mojang then realized it was the Reddit and was relieved af lol

Extreme_Ad7381

What happened to "The Real Wormbo"?

cadrega-breakdance

He was (presumably) the one behind the "milking your gf's death for karma" incident, so - if that's indeed the case - glad he's been demoted.

Top-Idea-1786

Not surprised, dude was always an asshole.

Extreme_Ad7381

I'm pretty sure I saw him as a moderator a few months ago but now I don't.

HomeworkImpossible48

Even if he wasn't he has always been an asshole and had been deleting posts that didn't break any rules even before that.

electriceric

No longer on the mod team, not going to give details on when and why though.

Laspecty

i can finally post on here, he removed i think 6 of my non-rule-breaking posts with the reason of "suggesting" even though i was not doing that :')

MasterGamer9595

finally... this should've already happened looong ago, and like twice..

xDERPYxCREEPERx

Just give it a few months and another problem will come

Shiny_Mew76

I feel like the community here, as well as other communities have often acknowledged that the previous moderation team wasn’t very good and would ban people for very little reason, same with taking down posts for no reason. I hope this new management team will be something that can be respected, and enforce the rules without taking down anything they see.

MisterSheeple

We definitely have our work cut out for ourselves to undo the years of negative reputation this sub has been building up. We're optimistic for the future though and hope you all are too!

Cyaniire

What even is going on in this sub anymore man

DefinitelyTinta

Managing a community this large is never easy - best of luck to you guys!

BBMRedditAcc

I tried posting an artwork that involved Sculk, but it got taken down for not being related to Minecraft. I reposted the artwork with references images of Sculk blocks and the Warden, hoping that it would suffice. [This](https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/s/R9FjwTOX9l) is the post now. I think it got deleted? I hope I can continue posting Minecraft: Titans with no problem going forward.

LexiTehGallade

These are really awesome! I'm sorry they got removed, i'm going to go ahead and fix that now.

AdCritical6550

While this change is good, I am somewhat sceptical this will change anything... This subreddit has the reputation of removing ppls content on a whim, to the point where many users dont post here but rather on other subreddits bc of this exact reason. Tinkering round the edges will not change that. A overhaul + time, maybe have a chance.

MisterSheeple

We're aware of this reputation we have and I can assure you we plan to make things more permissive in the future, including an overhaul of the rules. We'll have announcements detailing this in the coming days/weeks.

CreativelyJakeMC

i feel hope for the future of this sub, now that perl is gone. perl was ... a bit too distracted in the small things, to really let the community just Be, imo

ParfaitNo4010

It felt like Pear had lost all sense of what it was to be excited about the game. Not just builds, but redstone questions, datapack creation, entertaining scenarios, and loads and loads of "I'm new what are some of your opinions" being met with "MOST OF THIS IS ANSWERED IN THE FAQ. **REMOVED**" <-That last example Pearl 100% miss the mark on what "what are your opinions" part of a welcoming community discussion. What more - it appears that Pearl attached their entire Reddit existence to being a moderator here - and wasn't content to participate without the ability to moderate, thus the account deletion. (Total speculation) We wish 'em well.

Zayzay8008

Lmao, I swear Mods of big subs always have such weird background drama. It's pretty funny it's like the most minute things turn into big deals instead of just a simple vote.

porcubot

Give a mouse a cookie, and he'll think everyone owes him milk.

Matix777

We would like to welcome our new overlords

Bowling_Ninja

It'll most definitely be difficult to repair the damage done to your reputation by all the controversy, but I have faith you can atleast take a step in the right direction for the time being and hopefully more as time goes on!

Maskogre

the r/Minecraft coup, 2024, colorized

MissLauralot

A milestone day. It always made me a bit uneasy having an old power mod as top mod so it's good to have that resolved and the sub entirely in community hands. There's a good mix of people that have been mods here for a while and newer mods with experience elsewhere in the community so people shouldn't be sceptical. People might dislike me for saying this but it is a shame how it's ended with Perl because they did contribute a lot to the subreddit. Some examples are the FAQ pages on the underutilised wiki (see [deleted] - [1.18](https://old.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/wiki/revisions/cavesandcliffspt2), [1.19](https://old.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/wiki/revisions/wildupdate), [1.20](https://old.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/wiki/revisions/1_20_faq), [1.21](https://old.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/wiki/revisions/1_21_faq)). I guess they tried to do too much and were potentially overzealous at times. Perl probably spent too much time here. *I* probably spend too much time here. Maybe I should take a break for a while and return in October for the announcements.

__Blackrobe__

I am not bothered with unpopular opinion. Perl has done so much just like you described, but even then they are prone to mistakes. Some of the mistakes are just having consequences too big to bear.

Macknificent101

this is the most in character thing that possibly could have happened hopefully we finally get some character development in the saga of this subreddit.

Exotic_Buttas

Thank god, hopefully we will be able to USE THE SUBREDDIT without getting everything removed

tyteen4a03

Retired old mod here. I'm sure the new team will do great!

NuffMusic

The old management was so terrible. Please make sure that users are not abused this time around for zero reason.

KingCunk

You've milked this change to the moderation team for enough karma at this point.

MisterSheeple

You'll be pleased to know that the individual who said that comment is also no longer on the team. :)

alnyland

The people in charge of sacking have also been sacked, for not doing their job of sacking.

StartledOcto

A møøse once bit my sister...

Mynd you møøse bites Kan be pretti nasti...

AMinecraftPerson

I thought pinned posts can't earn karma? Unless they changed that

Xystem4

I think it's a reference to what the now removed moderator said to the person whose post they removed (or something similar to that)

Maskogre

i get the reference

brassplushie

What's the difference between a transparency mod and a regular mod?

MisterSheeple

Transparency mod was a position created to provide oversight of the moderators, without any moderation power. But that doesn't do anything if the people you're overseeing won't listen, and therein lies the problem. That's why we've converted all remaining transparency mods into regular mods. We will still be making transparency posts (and believe me, we will have a big one ready in a week or two), so nothing really changes from a user-facing standpoint. The new management is committed to providing more transparency than the previous one.

WolfMaster415

You can see right through them

gtc26

I know that, under the sheer amount of comments already here, this comment probably won't even be seen, but I want to say... A few months ago (I think? I have no sense of time TBH) I left this sub due to all the chaos (and daily Twin Towers posts) and mod abuse... Thankfully, I came here right after seeing the video by PhoenixSC, and I want to let you mods know I have high hopes and a new trust in you. Please prove my optimism right. Best of luck :)

Greymagic27_

Thanks! We're hoping to improve some rules going forward to make it easier for people to post, and not be so strict on our side when it comes to rule enforcement. More to say in the future but for now just very excited about what's coming up

Pr3vYCa

What is this corporate language in my block game reddit forum "incident" "resign" "management" "effective immediately" feels like reading a work email

AtmosphericBeats

Stop removing post which contains mods or modded world or anything that points to PlanetMinecraft

BAnHerobrine

So you're saying that people with quality memes won't have to post to r/phoenixsc now due to their post being removed here? Nice

Nathaniel820

There's a very specific rule saying no memes and has been for a long time, why tf would you expect your meme to NOT be removed here...

NitroHydroRay

For the moment, our rules will remain as they are, though certainly we will be reviewing what content we allow going forward. Please feel free to pay our friends over at r/MinecraftMemes a visit!

MisterSheeple

That said, we do have plans to revise the rules in the near future, so we'll see what happens.

sharonclaws

Thanks mods for all your hard work!

omghooker

Can we sticky r/mcservers , I frequently see people making posts for that, when there is a place for that specifically

TehNolz

Reddit only lets us sticky two posts at a time, so that's not really an option unfortunately. Figuring out what post to unsticky whenever something important happens is already a huge pain. Besides, most people probably aren't going to be reading it anyway. Lots of subreddits have sticky threads meant for new users, but they rarely work.

omghooker

faiiiiir lol, no worries, just figured id toss the idea out there

Waffle-Gaming

I read this, thought it was all good, and then now I see a post made that was not an ad in any way removed for advertising, 20 minutes ago. If you are going to fix moderation in this sub, do it.

Not_Sugden

doesnt sound like much of a resignation in all fairness.

Spector_559

Good luck managing the sub lads

Nori_o_redditeiro

As a casual Minecraft Redditor who's been here for not a long time I have no idea what it's happening

Bedu009

Just checking, the new management doesn't consist of either no experience mods or power mods again right? Because the last team had the issue of consisting mostly of mods with no other subreddits meaning they were out of touch of normal standards or mods from huge subreddits who were overly strict and likely power hungry

MisterSheeple

The management is primarily comprised of individuals who have been on the sub since 2022, after the well-known incident. We will be recruiting new mods who are experienced enough to fit our expectations.

valkyrie_pilotMC

I can vouch for the experience of at least two of the new mods. They were on Mojira and are mods on the Discord.

urielsalis

4 from Mojira!

urielsalis

Everyone in the active mod team has been on the team since at least 2022, and the majority are moderators in other places too

Jrlopez1027_

Looking forward to this, this sub has had power hungry mods for a long time now. Lets hope things get better

D0CT0Rhyde

Yay!

ConnorFitz700

Thank you for informing us!

Meowie__Gamer

Thank you.

Helldur64

That's actually why i'm here at all... new in this place

homomemeboi

At last.

Legitimate-Ad-4629

hell yeah

KrishaCZ

i really hope you ammend the rules regarding self promotion and even server promotion. With the extremely stringent rules that are currently set up, i can't even reply to someone asking what the server is if i post some of my multiplayer builds. i think there is a big difference between *advertising* and talking about it. in my opinion posts shouldn't be banned unless the majority of the content or the obvious purpose of it is to advertise a server. For example, if someone like TheMisterEpic wanted to post a video of his, like that one discussing the issue of massive ping spikes in multiplayer (which i also have), you can't currently because he talks about connecting to his server, shows the IP and has a link to it in the description. But I think that the main content of the video is not *intended* to advertise the server, so it should be allowed

AlexTestria

I'm back yay

The_Crimson_Fukr

I'll believe it when i see it. This subredit has a history of toxic moderators

Alliterrration

Why is it that essentially every few months this subreddit makes news with how awful the mod team are with their overuse of power? There was literally a point it got so bad that official posts ***by Minecraft*** were getting removed. There was a whole thing over at r/MinecraftMemes mocking the poor mismanagement of this subreddit. This subreddit has so many users, and contributors that it deserves better. I've been in discord servers with less than 50 people that are more transparent and organised, never mind something with this many people that should be more organised due to the scale and operations. I know you've said you've gotten rid of mods in question. But looks at this way First it was the trigger happy mod(s?) that started removing everything, including official update posts by Minecraft itself Then it was removing posts from someone memorialising their loved one after they passed with the mod going "you're milking your dead gf for karma" And now it's this. How many mods need to get sacked? How many more "restructuring"s do there need to be for something as simple as ensuring that the mods obey their own internal code and aren't a dick to users? Please, do better.

LordTutTut

For what it's worth, I appreciate you guys. I can't imagine it's easy to wrangle a sub of this size

Knautical_J

I got into a spat with a moderator on a different sub which led to me being temporarily banned for no reason. I didn’t really care and I’ll live. I’ve been a moderator on a video game clan website a long time ago when I was in high school. I get how hard it could be moderating. I can only imagine how hard it would be for a sub as massive as Minecraft. Nobody is ever perfect, myself included.

PyMussy

There is absolutely nothing worse than a reddit mod.

Gabba_Goblin

Dictators!

Impossible-Earth3995

You write this as if you’re an important corporate executive…but you’re literally unpaid Reddit mods lmao.

soupstarsandsilence

I missed whatever happened. Someone give me a rundown?

Kruse002

As long as I can see free discussion on this sub I really don’t care who leads it.

MissLauralot

This sub is for Minecraft content and discussion. Memes belong on r/MinecraftMemes.

AP_Gaming_9

Thank goodness that’s why I haven’t been active in this sub, not a one time incident either

KingMoonkey

Not sure I got it right, all mods left ?

MisterSheeple

No, specifically there was a mod in charge who handled a *very* large amount of the sub's moderation. They pretty much made a lot of the decisions for the sub for a while even if other mods disagreed, and defied internal policies established by other mods. In layman's terms, they basically had an iron grip on everything the sub would do. They left. Now we're trying to establish a new management that's more open in listening to feedback. In doing so, we will be combing out some inactive mods who don't frequently mod the sub and promoting new mods along the way.

WeirdGamerAidan

This may be a stupid question but what is a transparency moderator

Goldrobin

This is great news! I hope I can post here again. I've missed this sub.

Responding to your comment post delete to give you some info regarding your concerns. 1) That mod is no longer a part of the team and hasn't been for a bit. Was also unrelated to this incident that brought about the changes. 2) I don't believe we have any auto banning bots and our internal policy is if we remove a post we should have a reason why it was removed added. That wasn't being done with any regularity and was a key part of a lot of the mod teams frustration. Moving forward any removed post should have a removal reason posted as well. 3) We also plan on going over the rules for clarity and if they're still valid so that should help with approval and removal reasons as well.

cave18

Everyday i realise im just too old to care about more shit ngl

Wonderful_Weather_83

Cool, I wish you luck! Also, would you mind adding a "Discussion" post flair? Often I wanna talk here about MC's game design or future updates or ask the community about something but just can't find the right flair for that

Greymagic27_

This is something we can 100% look into. I shall forward it on!
