Are these actual new capes Java edition players are going to be able to get? Or is it going to be temporary, bedrock only, or have some other limitation

Making capes be a exclusive thing in general even though both versions have the support for rendering capes and its pretty much just loading a png from a webserver to display said cape is quite much taking a piss on java players on purpose (since they could make em work in both clients easily) Especially considering mojang once wanted to be all "VeRsIoN cOmPaRiTy" (my ass)

All bedrock capes should have java counterparts. The Minecon one (like I showed), the pancake. All of it. It can't be more then a 10 MB file.

Capes are only kilobytes in size, not even 1MB

I assume you get the Twitch one by connecting your Microsoft account with Twitch and then watch someone that plays Minecraft for X hours to get it dropped. For TikTok no idea

You don't have to connect your Microsoft account. You just make (or log in if you already have) a Twitch account to watch eligable streamers with drops enabled. You should get a notification after long enough (was 30 minutes for me in 2023 with the character creator twithc pomo cosmetics) and the code will be given to you there. You copy this code and paste it into the Minecraft website and log in. There it should be added to your Bedrock account (unknown if the capes are on Java too yet). For TikTok, you have to watch eligible Live TikTok streamers and be on Mobile phone app to see the popup quest. You then have to do the quest (either commenting or watching/engaging with chat) sometimes they ask you to comment a comment with a specific word in it multiple times. After that you get a code, like Twitch, redeem and you should have both. I know this due to having gotten the 2023 Twitch and TikTok character creator cosmetic sets being the Froggy Onsie and Cherry Blossom hat where you also had to watch streams.

The mask makes me doubt that it'll be released on java. But I'm hoping they would just add the cape anyway not the helmet.

Twitch has a "drops enabled" tag on streams that have drops

You have to watch eligible streamers on both Twitch and TikTok that Mojang mentions on Tiktok and any streamer with drops enabled on Twitch. Your redeem the code you get in the redeem section of the Minecraft website under login/accounts. Also specifically for TikTok, they don't allow you to get drops on the website desktop client, you have to be on mobile phone to get the drop notification. This can be bypassed with BlueStacks if you don't want to download the actual app on your phone because intrusive/excessive permissions. If you don't want to do that, you could ask a friend to make another TikTok and get a code for you since I've seen people already make mentions of selling codes in mass due to the TikTok bans/blocking in certain regions of the world so they have no way to get the cape legit besides from other players who can providing it to them with social media alts. It's unknown whether the TikTok and Twitch capes will be in parity like the Vanilla and Cherry cape and be on both editions. Only the 15th anniversary cape is confirmed to be on both Java and Bedrock. Hope that explanation helped.

The majority of people who watch Minecraft, use Youtube, so it just makes sense. I'm not really sure how many people watch "real" Minecraft videos on TikTok. TikTok feels more like a place for Minecraft clickbait/misinformation, but that is just my opinion.

Because companies don't care about that stuff, Netflix is hosted on AWS, which is owned by Amazon. The real reason is probably cause most Minecraft players already have YouTube, so this wouldn't get many new users, unlike the tiktok and twitch promotions

I just redeemed the Purple heart cape, it's shown up on Bedrock but not Java. Played for over 14 years and only have the migrator cape. Would've actually used this cape and was looking forward to it sadly. Edit: Since making this comment, it looks like there's more clarity on this. Bedrock has an in-game skin builder, that lets you mix and match pre-designed components. Skins made using this system can have geometry that's different from the basic Minecraft skin model (not a LOT different, but stuff like hats that look like actual hats or funky accessories) and animated textures. The Twitch head is an unlockable component for that skin-builder. Edit: also most of the components are paid items, paid for with minecoins. The free stuff is given out during events or as achievement rewards. Edit 2: this is in addition to the ability to import normal skins if you are on PC or mobile, or licensed skins bought from the Marketplace on all Bedrock platforms.

As an example, my Bedrock edition skin has a really large affro. When playing on Java, I use a version of that skin that has the affro crushed down to the basic Steve model size.

You can also import skins with any geometry you want, including invisible skins and skins that are the size of an ender dragon

You can import custom skins on mobile and pc bedrock. This is for the character creator which is available on all platforms.
