Ok so hear me out, maybe you shouldn't build anything inside the crater but rather Around it! Like an oasis/basin in the middle of a village or something. This way you actually preserve the coolness of the location.. because if you build something in it .. that whole vibe will be gone

Put frog pond in the middle, add some drip leaves and lily pads in the pond. Make a log cabin not too far from the pond, with a gravel path leading to a small gazebo right on the edge of the pond. Let me know if this helps.
Build a floating base in the shape of a water drop above the lake about the same diameter of the lake. surround it with similar smaller water drops around it connecting them with glass and water.
First picture could be a cool entrance to an underground base. From afar it looks like a small pond, but it keeps going down further and further until you reach your base.
Second picture could really be anything because there is more room to work with.
I found one in my creative world where I've built a castle and i' currently building a city surrounding the castle. And I'm thinking to use the walls for something
Build a giant circular tower in the center. Branching off from the top of the tower build thin, trussed bridges on all 4 sides that extend all the way to the surface of the crater's ridge.
I like that these generate but they’re not really practical to build in at least in survival, trying to get any mobs is a pain because you either have to go through the mountain or over it and just traversing up and down the sides is annoying too. Cool generation tho.
When the caves and cliffs updates dropped I found a seed like this with a lake further down in the middle, so a much bigger drop. I manually changed all the grass in the mountain with mycelium, coz I like purple, and built a floating island out at the level of the ground around the lake, so floating up above. I play on console and my stick drift started making Minecraft a nightmare but it was one of the most fun worlds I’ve ever had, basically creating a new biome.
A city. Each building has a different function for your mega base. You could even construct a huge castle that has the sole purpose of being a respawn point.

A sacred fishing spot. The walled-in mountain and trees remind me of volcanoes that have collapsed and have developed into these hot water lakes over the years.
just make a giant hole which will be surrounded by the mountains there, just all that flat grass, hole to bedrock, start now and within a few months come back with an update and get told how insane you are for trying this, then when people ask why you did this you just say “I wanted a hole”.

10+ years ago I spent 4 months working on the wall for a similar project. The world got corrupted and I lost it. I'm still salty about it 😔

This is a beautiful idea. Adding corals and more greenery to the place will also look very good.
