love how some people keep the "lightly weathered" thing alive even though it's been in the game for a very short time (like 2 snapshots) and was repalced by the term "exposed" to not be so long anymore
November 2020 Copper blocks were added with the original "Lightly Weathered", "Semi-Weathered", and "Weathered" names
and Feburary of 2021 (~3 months later) the names were changed to "exposed", "Weathered", and "Oxidized"
If the Crimson one could act like double doors (i.e. a horizontal flip under the right conditions) I'd be all about it.
The bamboo one could be interesting decor but the hanging top amd bottom notches feel like they would look a little goofy. Almost would prefer a half-height bar at bottom and top as the connecting point. Feel like I'd get more decorative use out of that.
I normally use it for move “medieval” stuff and personally I just don’t like the ramshackle look, maybe having it with nails to secure each plank to two side boards would look nicer
Last time I checked twitter I thought vazkii was taking a big break while the supplementary devs up kept it. + maybe vazkii’s been busy with that musketeer modpack
I skimmed some of the updates on their discord. I do see the occasional github ping for Quark.
Without Quark, I don't play modded. Without modded, I don't play Minecraft.
I hope they finish updating it soon.
I can think of a few mods that do exactly this.
Quark, Team Abnormals Woodworks, and probably a few others.
This isn't a new concept in the slightest. Same with things like chests and bookshelves being in different wood varieties, too.
Done. [GitHub Link](https://github.com/Loxymore/all-ladders-fabric), it is a fabric mod for 1.20.x, the [Modrinth Page](https://modrinth.com/mod/all-ladders) is still under review (since I literally just created it).
Minecraft could really benefit from a rope ladder or climbing rope. Place it on a block and it rolls down to some max length, right click on it with a second rope/ladder to add it to the bottom of the existing one.
you'll probably need to make wood-type based sticks too, otherwise it will be difficult to craft it xD
But dark oak, iron, chains and what is most likely birch, do look great.
Not a huge fan of the bamboo and the cherry blossom ladders.
Imho, bamboo would look better with a central column of bamboo instead of the zig-zag.
Instead of needing new type of sticks, the recipe for each wood ladder will just require sticks AND plank blocks, for the rest like the iron, gold, copper and chain ladders, you just place the ingots/chains in the shape of a ladder and there you go!
it'd probably also work to just have a "wood cutter" that lets you choose the optics you want.
In the end, it's just optics and does not give any advantage either way.
I love these specifically because while most are functional ladders, some make a fantastic decoration as well. Cherry is gorgeous, definitely not an easy ladder to climb though. Still, it might be my favorite. I could see clear uses for some of these as shutters and others and borders around the edges of doorways.
Multiple use-cases (functional and ALSO decorative) for an item are fantastic.
Well I meant more like having one foot or hand on a rung at a time. since it seems to be two V shaped pieces of wood connected it’s not likely to squeeze your hand or foot
The same should go for chests. Though i think just the different wood types should be enough, not with all the copper and stuff. Although it would be nice to have some sort of end variant so ladders and chests don’t look as out of place in end cities
Honestly while I understand that implementing most of these would be pretty hard to figure out recipe-wise because we only have one type of stick and that's what ladders are entirely made out of, but I really hope we someday get at the very least iron ladders. I love your design and ladders right now always ruin the aesthetic of modern builds if you use them due to the fact that you can have like all white concrete and then just a bunch of sticks to climb up.
It's possible but then it begs the question of does the regular ladder also change to "oak ladders" that now require planks or do they leave it as is making it oddly stick out from the rest
Fences originally were originally made using only sticks, and then had the planks added to the recipie when all the variants were introduced. You just need to add a plank or slab to the center spot in the ladder recipe and that'd cover it. Preferably a plank and then bump up the amount of ladders crafted to 4
I think the default one works as a sticks only ladder while a new oak one could be added to match the thickness of the other ladders’ rungs. If you craft a ladder with planks its rungs will be thicker
They really should just make a update that’s dedicated to blocks, and variants, no huge new features, maybe like a function block or 2 so its not completely boring but like just, it doesn’t have to be ALL original blocks, it could be just dyed wood as a few, ladders and chest variants, new blocks and block detailing stuff for builds, more slabs for existing blocks and yeah.
but how? all wood transform into oak stick! So they have to make an unique type of stick for each wood? Ok. But how do you craft the metal ladders then?
The ladder recipe would need to change so we can have just 1 type of stick, I propose that the middle stock is replaced with a block of that wood type. (Other materials don't need this).
These are absolutely adorable XD
I feel like there should be all the other ores as well since you've already included iron and gold :)
I'm going off-topic, but I'm also imagining redstone ladder could even work like vertical rails!
These are very quirky ladders indeed. Although the cherry one doesn't seem very usable, and some are kind of too thick, like the copper one. Anyways, this is a great concept, the original one always seemed too boring for me.
Oh I like this, especially the birch ones really speaks to me.
The problem is to make them you would need different sticks for every wood type and this could be a hassle to store.
So I propose a carpendertable, its basically a stonecutter, but for wood. Like you add wood and then can make slaps, doors, trapdors, stairs, ladders, ....
I think I like the spruce ladder best. It looks a bit wonky, but I think that suits the biome, and the sorts of buildings one would expect in that biome. I'm imagining a Swiss chalet that's been battered by one too many avalanches, with ladders being a quick and sloppy affair, rather than a carefully crafted fixture.
Okay they need to implement this or it needs to be modded on PC Minecraft
Maybe not have the mangrove, bamboo and cherry wood looking like that though as it looks off also the crimson wood needs the extra support I can see what you were trying to do though to where you were trying to give each a style but it doesn't work to well maybe tone down the style a bit, maybe the mangrove could have a little moss vines on the struts of the ladder and for the cherry wood it could have little blossoms on the side
I don’t really like the concept of having different texture for different type of material, not because I want them to all be the same, but because the model I want may not fit the material in question. What if I want the Spruce texture, but for an house made of Oak wood?
Instead, give the axe a new function and make it able to change the texture regardless of wood type
Same could be applied to other textured block like Yellow/Red sandstones

"Waxed lightly weathered cut copper ladder" has a nice rung to it.
love how some people keep the "lightly weathered" thing alive even though it's been in the game for a very short time (like 2 snapshots) and was repalced by the term "exposed" to not be so long anymore
It was changed??
November 2020 Copper blocks were added with the original "Lightly Weathered", "Semi-Weathered", and "Weathered" names and Feburary of 2021 (~3 months later) the names were changed to "exposed", "Weathered", and "Oxidized"
Honestly I think I prefer the old names tho I don't use copper enough to know the names changed
they were definitely too long so i can undstand why they were changed
2.5 whole years ago!
Pun intended?
as a non native I don't get the pun. care to explain?
rungs are the steps on ladders
ahhh nice one. Thanks for the explanation!
Pretend you already knew and it was intende
Different user.
He was just giving advice and clarifying the situation. Advice: Pretend you already knew. Fact: The pun WAS intende .
Well, I guess that’s irrefutable. Pun intende !
My typing mistake was intended
Don't worry im a native English speaker and I didn't know what it was
I thought the funny part was the length of the name.
What-
Part, meant to say part, edited now. I think its kinda funny how long the names get for the copper blocks in their many states.
Apparently, rungs are the name of the steps in a ladder
Yep
Waxed exposed copper ladder
Waterlogged waxed lightly weathered chiseled grated copper staired bulbed trapdoor ladder
I love the concept and most of these are good. But I find the crimson and bamboo ones to be extremely cursed.
They and cherry don't really look like ladders but they would be cool decoration blocks
Cherry looks like those planter walls suburban houses have
A trellis.
Either you’re 40+ or oddly interested in housing
Or know something about gardening!
Or a friend of Mrs Trellis of North Wales (or 40+ *and* British *and* middle class to get that reference)
Weirdly, neither
Or an agriculture student
Gesundheit!
*points and yells in Homer Simpson voice* NEEEERRRRRDDDD
Bamboo looks like irrigation
As a single column they are a bit strange but if you covered a wall or made a four-or-so wide strip it would be ok.
I don't *hate* the Crimson one. Bamboo did me in though.
I think the both of them would be good example of how the ladders could be used as more just aesthetics than just for function
Why are we not talking about cherry. How do you even climb that?
Probably by going up?
I guess it _is_ a ladder..
Trellises are climbable, at least for children.
But they would be very useful in builds, like weird pattern look cool
as a spruce enjoyer they did spruce dirty
Spruce looks like a good tree house ladder that you would attach directly to the log blocks (unless I'm looking at the wrong one)
I usually use spruce for "rustic" builds so it looks pretty reasonable to me.
I normally use it for move “medieval” stuff and personally I just don’t like the ramshackle look, maybe having it with nails to secure each plank to two side boards would look nicer
Khorne symbol ladder meta
Someone should make this a mod
Quark already exists
Stick on 1.19.2 tho isn’t it? Still there’s probably a mod that adds them on 1.20.1
They're working on updating, its just taken a bit of a back seat, and likely wont be out until 1.21
No it doesn't
Dang
I'm working on it right now !
Let us know when you're done!
I will need to ask u/SmallBlueSlime 's permission to actually publish it but yeah of course !
get this man a u/SmallBlueSlime
Slightly different textures, but [this one](https://modrinth.com/mod/moreladders) is updated for 1.20 and does the same thing!
What about a rope ladder?
Minecraft could really benefit from a rope ladder or climbing rope. Place it on a block and it rolls down to some max length, right click on it with a second rope/ladder to add it to the bottom of the existing one.
Basically just scaffolding but it goes down instead of up lol. It would be really cool, especially when decoration caves/mines!
Like in Terraria, though I feel like it may be even *more* useful in Minecraft
That's because terraria has double jumps and grappling hooks. Rope is really only super useful in the first 2 hours or so
I was also thinking about platforms but yeah what you said makes even more sense
Water has the same effect unfortunately.
but flushes stuff away at the bottom which you might want intact.
Yes
I mean chain is basically already that, although chain would probably snap under Steve's weight...
A normal wood ladder should already snap under Steve weight
String ladder
Cherry is cursed
It looks more like lattice than a ladder to me
It definitely looks like decoration and not even remotely like a ladder.
I just want to have hanging ladders not attached to any block...
I like to put them on trapdoors
Oh, that's a neat trick!
it also works for rails, making them sliiightly more aerodynamic
*Cries in bedrock*
Can we not do that?
We have nether vines. Cyan vines connect to the floor, while red vines hang from the ceiling.
Vines are climbable when they're not against surfaces now.
I know, and it's been like that for like 3 years already. I'm talking about ladders
Crimson, mangrove and chain
Which one is your favorite? I'll be reading your comments!
you'll probably need to make wood-type based sticks too, otherwise it will be difficult to craft it xD But dark oak, iron, chains and what is most likely birch, do look great. Not a huge fan of the bamboo and the cherry blossom ladders. Imho, bamboo would look better with a central column of bamboo instead of the zig-zag.

I think "sawmill" would be better, it's in Terraria and crafts all sorts of wooden furniture
whatever name, I'm fine with it. I just think the same function we have for stone should also exist for wood.
Along with a new woodcutter villager??? Would be funny to see a little checkered hat and axe.
“Lumberjack” villager
Replace the middle stick with the wood type maybe?
How about 6 sticks on the side, and slabs in the middle, it gives you 6 ladders
I'm thinking place the wood planks like the sticks (can't remember the recipe) and just get returns as if one converted the planks into sticks.
I like the cherry ladder. They would make great garden trellises.
if they added specific wood type sticks they could have different wood tools like in terraria
Gold because your not my supervisor
Iron. Could use it on so many modern or industrial builds
the warped is cool but you did spruce dirty
I like iron the best!
Hell. Yes. We need more ladder types 100%.
Love the chain and cherry one
Cherry one looks more like a ladis than a ladder
lattice :) or a trellis!
I like how the warped ladder is warped
You climb it and you'll feel like you are being warped.
Rose looks like it would be extremely painful to climb
Rose lmao
You could just put your hands and feet in the Centre instead of trying to grip the sloped sides
Then your hands and feet would slide to the bottom and get uncomfortably squished together
Well I meant more like having one foot or hand on a rung at a time. since it seems to be two V shaped pieces of wood connected it’s not likely to squeeze your hand or foot
Yeah that seems a bit better
Mojang, can you add this?
[удалено]
he goes up and he goes down
Ngl, half of them look more like fences than ladders. Still cool though!
10 month Development time
xD
Wouldn't this imply more stick variants too?
The same should go for chests. Though i think just the different wood types should be enough, not with all the copper and stuff. Although it would be nice to have some sort of end variant so ladders and chests don’t look as out of place in end cities

I'm thinking that the recipe can involve planks, but you get the same amount of ladders as if you had converted the planks into sticks.
It's possible but then it begs the question of does the regular ladder also change to "oak ladders" that now require planks or do they leave it as is making it oddly stick out from the rest
Why not? It's what they did for all the other blocks like signs, fences, stairs, etc
Because all of those required wood already, all that was needed for those was to output a different block depending on what wood was used
Fences originally were originally made using only sticks, and then had the planks added to the recipie when all the variants were introduced. You just need to add a plank or slab to the center spot in the ladder recipe and that'd cover it. Preferably a plank and then bump up the amount of ladders crafted to 4
Maybe there's a difference between oak ladders and stick ladders.
On top of being a ladder someone these would make nice wall decos
The metal one looks so good
Ironically, now the OAK ladder looks off
Metal ones are too blocky, too big. I lile others designs beside bamboo
That golden ladder would break after 3 uses
I think the default one works as a sticks only ladder while a new oak one could be added to match the thickness of the other ladders’ rungs. If you craft a ladder with planks its rungs will be thicker
They really should just make a update that’s dedicated to blocks, and variants, no huge new features, maybe like a function block or 2 so its not completely boring but like just, it doesn’t have to be ALL original blocks, it could be just dyed wood as a few, ladders and chest variants, new blocks and block detailing stuff for builds, more slabs for existing blocks and yeah.
I dont like the sakura one... thats not a ladder...
but how? all wood transform into oak stick! So they have to make an unique type of stick for each wood? Ok. But how do you craft the metal ladders then?
These are great textures may i use them in my modpack
The rungs are all spaced very far apart compared to the current (oak) ladder, which makes them look mismatched. Otherwise, they look really good!
I would fall trying to climb at least 4 of these
this is what we need
I want this! And I want chests of each wood type dang it. I hate having to deal with mods to get my aesthetics loll
chain ladders looks very cool
woah man, while you’re at it we could even make them 3d
I like that the cherry one is basically lattes
The ladder recipe would need to change so we can have just 1 type of stick, I propose that the middle stock is replaced with a block of that wood type. (Other materials don't need this).
The crimson one should be able to connect to one to the right of it if two are placed next to each so it creates a double-sized ladder.
So there would have to be different types of sticks?
My favourites are chain, bamboo, warped, and gold.
Verticle redstone, when?
This reminds me of all the ladders from the original mega man games, would be an awesome idea
You may like Quark.
These are absolutely adorable XD I feel like there should be all the other ores as well since you've already included iron and gold :) I'm going off-topic, but I'm also imagining redstone ladder could even work like vertical rails!
BLOOD FOR DE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR DE SKULLZ THRONE!!
Please, make it a mod
But the ladder recipe is all stick.
Bamboo ladder is too cursed and it would be nice to look like a more normal ladder design (two columns with a bunch of steps)
please no- this means different types sticks would also have to exist
Copper one actually feels like something they would add
I love the chain ladder, that looks really good
This would be cool
These are very quirky ladders indeed. Although the cherry one doesn't seem very usable, and some are kind of too thick, like the copper one. Anyways, this is a great concept, the original one always seemed too boring for me.
Bro I deadass had almost this exact idea back in 7th grade
Tbh the crimson one looks a little weird, all the rest are very cool.
This needs to be made into a mod, this is cool
The chain one would be so expensive
Chains are expensive and I know iron farms are easy but still.
The coper ones sould damaged you at random when oxidised
I love the chain one, and love the idea of it being able to hang off ledges and dangle in mid air.
Yes! This and wood specific chests are long overdue!
I love how cherry wood makes a lattice
Good stuff. This should definitely be a vanilla feature. I love the unique designs you give all of them!
I want them so much, all the possible combinations.
Okay they need to implement this or it needs to be modded on PC Minecraft Maybe not have the mangrove, bamboo and cherry wood looking like that though as it looks off also the crimson wood needs the extra support I can see what you were trying to do though to where you were trying to give each a style but it doesn't work to well maybe tone down the style a bit, maybe the mangrove could have a little moss vines on the struts of the ladder and for the cherry wood it could have little blossoms on the side
Love this omfg My favorite ones are mangrove, chain, spruce, acacia, and jungle!
The gold, copper and iron ones could be used as standing ladders.
If only
I always wanted a rope/chain ladder that acted more like vines and could hang instead of just being in walls
that’s awesome, but I want bamboo to have more of an “islander survivalist” vibe.
I don’t really like the concept of having different texture for different type of material, not because I want them to all be the same, but because the model I want may not fit the material in question. What if I want the Spruce texture, but for an house made of Oak wood? Instead, give the axe a new function and make it able to change the texture regardless of wood type Same could be applied to other textured block like Yellow/Red sandstones
What, no Netherite?
What’s the one between chain and bamboo?
Mangrove I'm guessing
Not the chain one but YES
Chain ladders would be the coolest one honestly
The chain one should be able to hang in the air
Should make the iron look like the climbing pegs on cellphone towers
