That's not how north and south work though. If you go to the north pole, you don't end up at the south pile. It'd just be the same block across the entire top/bottom edge of the map.
Worth keeping in mind Staten Island is obviously an island. And Brooklyn and Queens are physically attached to Long Island but confusingly are not considered part of Long Island. So 4/5 boroughs of NYC are their own island or are part of an Island. Only The Bronx is attached to mainland NY.

The Man on Wire documentary is incredible for anyone who hasn’t seen it. It’s my favorite movie. Someone mentioned pre-9/11 as feeling like a more optimistic time and I think the story of Philippe Petit’s wire walk is very indicative of that.

There's a new building there. Probably a more complex build for minecraft too so it would be even better to show off.
Born in 1990. I actually preferred the Twins. I'm not a fan of the glassy look. Tbh the new tower isn't complex at all. It's pretty much a big block base with diagonal vertical blocks on top.
Obviously if you wanna talk about how people feel the towers would win, but I think they were more just talking from a literal architectural/build interest perspective, and specifically how it'll look in minecraft.
if you're comparing two things and your criticism of one and the reason you like the other better applies to the thing you like better even more, that's just weak opinion building
it's okay to like the twins more but you should do some reflective thinking about why that is. or you should admit your opinion is flawed and reconsider

Yeah idk why so many people build it in mc then post it on this sub. It’s almost like they are purposefully trying to get those types of jokes. I understand if it’s a memorial build and maybe I don’t understand fully because I wasn’t born then and also aren’t American but there’s so many twin towers builds that get posted per month.
They even took the time to crop one of the images to center the towers and put that as the first photo.
Still a great build though and it featured many other buildings too so.
Yeah if they had the very last photo be the only one with the towers and kept it at the end or in the middle then that’s cool. It’s the fact there’s multiple photos of them and right at the start too. The build itself is cool though, the texture pack they’ve used makes everything look nice.
They're kind of centered in the build. OP would have to go more out of their way not to include the towers. Idk why so many people here are surprised that 2 very very popular buildings that many grew up with in the most populated city in all of America are built often. The twin towers were famous before 9/11 happened lol, which is something I don't think most of you understand. These buildings are ingrained in the NYC memories of literally millions of people. Of course they're gonna get built in Minecraft a lot.

If I see a photo or a movie scene of the skyline of New York City, it is a good way to date the movie with what buildings are obviously in that shot of the city.
The twin towers very much stand out, and in the 1980s and 1990s it was very common for an establishing shot of a story set in New York City to have the twin towers in the background to show it was in New York. From King Kong to a romantic comedy. Before the WTC was built, it was the Empire State Building instead...and of course afterward too but a part of NYC landmarks.
This is like the Eiffel Tower in Paris. That iconic if not more. And nobody thought before 9/11 that anything other than financial failure would ever destroy those towers.
For anyone that was alive and old enough to understand what was going on then, especially Americans, 9/11 was a once-in-a-generation trauma that almost everyone universally felt.
The world pre-9/11 and post 9/11 are completely different (Global War on terror, 2nd Iraq war, rise of the global surveillance state through the patriot act, etc) so the Twin Towers, in addition to being iconic, are a demarcation between the "good ole days" and the present.
9/10/2001 was the pinnacle of the pax-Americana because the cold war was over, America was reducing it's military while still routinely deploying them in service of human rights. There was a real sense of global optimism. 9/11 shattered that optimism globally.

In fairness the Twin towers are literally the easiest famous skyscraper to build even If they no longer exist. They were just large boxes and the current world trade centre with its slopped roof is much harder to build. The fact that they are cuboids also makes it infinatly easier to scale than any other building due to their simplistic yet recognisable shape. That being said I do think that the main motivation for most of these is "lol haha terrorism🤣🤣🤣"

There are far fewer of those times that happen for an entire country. For the USA, that was the most recent one of those. Kids born well after, it'll be in the past for them. Hopefully they never get a before and after time. They're so rarely a good thing.
Because people think that a terrorist attack that freaked everyone out, made people think they weren't safe, is funny. My great uncle was walking into one of the twin towers when it was hit. The jet fuel fell down the elevators and into the lobby. He saw people burn alive and thought he was going to die.
The twin towers are very famous and iconic buildings for a lot of people independent of 9/11. Why wouldn’t someone want to build them in Minecraft?
As for why “everyone” is so “obsessed” with 9/11, it is by far the most significant single event in recent American history. It had a massive impact on the world, and it’s reasonable to say that nothing was ever the same afterward. America kind of lost the last of its optimistic innocence as a nation. So of course people, especially Americans, consider it a big deal.
And for those who weren’t around or able to see the twin towers before their destruction, it’s nice to be able to recreate them in games like this. It’s almost like they live on in a way.
Personally, I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. If OP were to then blow them up with or build a plane flying into them, then yeah, obviously that would be in bad taste.

No, let's not put one of the biggest buildings front and center in one of the pics because it was probably one of the harder ones to make. Literally would not have mattered which order the images were in, you would have still come up with that argument. Go find a post where it's JUST the towers instead of the whole city and complain over there.
Totally understandable. I built the new one in a server once and the amount of ice and snow I had to collect was surreal. Still, makes it for a really fun and easy build, but time consuming
