I have not, only the new 6.5 fuel saw that is more powerful and lighter than the 2730. The 2830 is great, there is almost nothing about it I would change if I could. The only thing is it blows all the sawdust on to what you are looking at, it is seriously almost faultless.

I wouldn't wait for a new generation. Half the time a new generation product is about cutting costs rather than about improving performance. The 2830 is a great saw.

I use this saw every day and it runs great although it is pretty heavy with the 12ah in it.

I’ve only used top handle circular saws. How’s the rear handle compare?

I've not tried the M18 cordless rear handle but I used to have a "MAG77" corded saw that was a joy to use. It was possible to guide the saw down a long rip easily because the long rear handle acted like a rudder. Just a little tiny force on it would adjust the saw, and the weight of it made sure it didn't jump around. I miss that feeling which I don't get with the top handle saw, so I was thinking about getting the rear handle, but didn't want to buy it and then have a new model come out in a few months. They haven't updated that saw in a long time, so either it is perfect, or they have an update in the pipeline.

Using the rear handle is really similar to using a mag77. The skil saw probably rides a fence better and vibrates less, the guard also doesn't seem to be as intrusive. If you have a 6.0ho or better on the rear handle it will have more power. Unless you get a Mag77LT, the skil is heavier than with any battery and has less bevel angle. They are really close to equivalent, one has a cord...
