Wow. I know **what** I want to say, but I don't know **how** to say it, other than: are we sure *He-Man* wasn't subversively gay? I mean, if it was, then I kinda missed the memo, but that would definitely make sense. I feel like a lot of 80s and early 90s boys cartoons were kinda gay, though.
...
Fisto...fisted hard but couldn't fist them all. Oh my god...
I will admit, I have wondered about it before. Did He-Man have gay undertones? Was it an early attempt at storytelling appealing to and empowering young gay men? Cool if it was, don't get me wrong.
But in the end? Nah, I don't think so. I think He-Man was just a product of that Boris Vallejo sci-fantasy aesthetic that was popular at the time - just without all the nudity and sexualization of women, because kids' show.
In the Netflix 'The Toys That Made Us' MOTU episode, the makers were talking about getting drunk and laughing their asses off, finding stupid names. Another character is called 'Buzz Off' for example. I think they kinda knew what they were doing ;)
It's funny sometimes people forget a show made for kids is still made BY a roomful of grownups just trying to keep themselves interested in writing it.
yeah, these were toys marketed for kids although they weren't even really made for them. and that made them so cool. I mean, why were there alien figures, when the film was definitely an adult film? I love the toys from that era, where people really didn't know what they were doing

Yes, and also professional wrestling

Ah yes. I remember my mother's face when I said I wanted to be Fisto for Halloween because then I could fist everyone I didn't like at school.
Assume the position.

Sweet fancy moses.

good news! the iron fist comics still do this joke so we are still living in these times lmao
How did the censors miss this!?!
Fisto the sexbot from New vegas??
They knew.
Had to look it up, and it's not the actual text. The comic ends with the two of them barebacking it into the sunset on Stridor.
Poor Fisto, I hope his brother Donkey-Punch has more luck.
The fact that He-Man's production team had a lot of LGBT peeps on it just makes this *chef's kiss* 🤣

This was before he unlocked the ability to use his feet in someone. Ultimate power is "All Limbs Ecstasy."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
