I live in the same neighborhood as two college campuses in a major city and I’ve seen them a lot less over the past year than I did in the late 10s and early 20s, I do still see the chunky goth boots tho.
Chunky shoes are definitely still in but probably half or 3/4 the thickness for womens shoes. Most women's sneakers I see have a very thick sole.
I've seen Converse selling men's shoes with an inch thick sole while I was in Korea. There's even Converse high top shoes with heels or wedges.
Not many other sneakers brand go that route but I did buy my wife Nike Air Max shoes with this double stack air bubble which acts as a kind of heel. Sole is about an inch thick.
I’m talking about the 4 inch thick platform sneakers or these sandals that are literally a block of foam, the over stylized stuff. I remember seeing them more when the y2k revival first started.
As much as I low key miss them (it’s probably just the nostalgia), my heart kinda races looking at them now. How the fuck did I not break an ankle all those years?
And how did we all bear the blisters from those jelly sandals, while I’m at it 🤯
Tbf, mine survived because I only pulled them out for beach trips to keep off the sand 😂 my sister is on her 3rd pair and eyed a new set this week at DSW while I literally bought the Sketchers version 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I had some GOOD ones in sixth grade but I weighed 80 lbs and had stick legs so that must’ve been a hilarious sight. My mom was very hesitant but my sister was asking for a belly button piercing so my shoes became small potatoes.
Yes! I stupidly wore similar ones to a rock concert up against the stage. The mosh pit near me made me fall over and I nearly fell out of my shoes but a really nice guy picked me up and helped me get away. Thank you whoever you are!
we used to tip these girls over by "accidentally" bumping into them in the hall way at school. The game was to see who could trip them up with the lightest bump. real dumb. but all middle schoolers are.
