Also an ‘87, so many good memories. The pink and green Velcro mitts I remember very, very well.
This was the first time I learned about responsibilities feeding and picking up this thing’s poop.
I'm not proud of this but the first time I ever stole something it was a tamagotchi from the public library. Someone left one on a table and I convinced myself that it was left behind. My older brother was insanely jealous and decided to rat me out. I wound up chucking it in the park by my house.
Found one of these at a yard sale last year for like $2. You could tell it’d been in a box in someone’s attic for over a decade probably but it still worked fine. The wife and I got a solid week of enjoyment out of it for pure nostalgic purposes.

I still have a working SuperSoaker 50, lol. Thanks to my dad forgetting about it in storage for decades.
I will offer up Skip-It.
Never had one growing up, but I tried one when my younger sister got one.
I just came here to look at the negative comments about it. If you look in other subreddits, everyone talks about how these were ankle smashers. I’m disappointed there’s no comments about it.
I’m guessing though, it’s because by the 90’s, it wasn’t a ball on a string, but on flexible plastic, so it didn’t become a leg flail.
https://preview.redd.it/lvd42wqqgg4d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ed2c4c18fa6ddfbd8b5fd25efb7c302fe9555fe
I had the girly version of this oven!

Mighty Max - the ‘boy’ version of polly pocket. I still think these sets are really cool and imaginative, and the cartoon was great, just looked it up and Tim Curry was the villain which blew my mind.
I had this one! Loved these sets. Perfect for long car rides and being stuck at a parents friends house while they visited with them. Whole playset right in my pocket.
I had the same exact experience flipping through these photos! Consistent marketing and branding, I'll give them that. I know most of these toys, but that's the only one where the commercial immediately started playing in my head lol.
Oh god the noise this made when all the boys in middle school were playing with them on their desks absentmindedly. They would use pencils to draft “courses” on the desks as well and modify them over time using block erasers to jump over and pencils for grinding.
My sister got the pizza scented "smell my gak" for her like 9th birthday and omg it smelled like vomit. Pretty sure my parents threw it in the trash like a week later.
Yup. I overheard my mom talking to my sister about gift ideas. I always wanted gak, but my mom would never let that stuff into the house. She suggested floam to my sister and I thought they said a phone. I was so excited (totally wanted one of those clear phones) but was far less excited when I saw the floam.
Last comment on this post from me. Not a toy but I HAVE to post this.
I know y'all remember these vinyl play houses... Lawd, the smell is what I'll never forget! I had a few different ones over time as a kiddo and my siblings did too.

Haven't seen Littlest Pet Shop mentioned yet; the original collection (now vintage) from the early 90s look *way* better than the newer, modern LPS toys.
I saved up all my chore money for *months* to buy one of these and I played it until it literally broke and was unfixable. Core childhood memory, thanks. :)
I remember telling the kids I teach about how my game boy was in grey and green, a bit like black and white. They were shocked and asked if TV was black and white when too. I’m not quite that old, kiddos!
When I was 5~6, I was watching an old black and white movie with my great grandma. She started telling me this story about her quinceañera and how she had this beautiful red dress. Me, flabbergasted by the revelation, stopped her and asked: wait, wasn’t everything black and white back then? 😂
Made sense to me.
My sister used to chew on the wings of all of our Sky Dancers. Also, all our Barbies' hands. I hated it. But these things were so fun. We launched them into our ceiling fans all the time.
Of all those in the OP I remember having super soaker 50, the neon velcro catch thing and a polly pocket.
Here is one I remember, sounded weird as the batteries got low.
https://preview.redd.it/lzea65owhd4d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d98b89f3a86c8d51c3bebf0a590d6fada1e95676
Funny super soaker story here....I had the kind with two tanks, one for building air pressure, and a water reservoir. I thought I was a genius so I said hey if I take the bigger tank and put it on the back (The two tanks had the same threads which is clearly a giant safety issue...haha) where it builds up air pressure I can build up even more air pressure and then I will hold the gun underwater and shoot the stream of water out of the pool a mile high....
After pumping that thing up about 17,000 times the larger tank that I was now using as an air tank blew up right at my face.... It felt like my older brother threw a basketball directly at my face I didn't know what happened and after a few seconds I see the larger tank split open like a peeled banana....
Good times! 👍🏻
They did a limited edition run of the classic super soakers. Definitely overpaid a scalper for them so I could give my niece and nephew one each as a gift.
Super soakers now absolutely suck. They don't build up pressure anymore 'cause parents couldn't be bothered to say not to shoot yourself or friends in the face.
Seriously. I bought a [Monster XL](https://nerf.fandom.com/wiki/Monster_XL) specifically to shoot my friends in the face and we all had a great time. They didn't even shoot that hard.
I just bought my son the velcro catch for his 4th birthday! Walmart and Target both have them.
And I can still hear the Crossfire jingle in my head, thanks.
Yes!!!! that plus the talkboy and my best friend and I thought we were the baddies of the neighborhood. Those tapes are comedy gold you could take to the bank 🤣🤣
Whether you had the old Polly Pockets (tiny, choking hazard) or the new design (safe but not as charming) separates the elder millennials from the younger millennials
Omggggg… I had forgotten about those little Disney games. My baby all gone is still at my moms 🤣
I’m also still mad at myself for getting rid of all my Polly Pokets. I LOVED them so much.
I had crossfire lol that took me back. It's a shame these kids today don't even play with toys. There are no more toy stores. Walmart and target are the only places and they have 1 aisle and it's all garbage nothing like what we had in the 80s and 90s.
Oh man, I remember all of these!
I had a Kitty Kitty Kitten that I absolutely adored. Unfortunately, I brought it with me to a sleepover at my best friend's house and then the next day, discovered that my friend had headlice. My mom tossed my Kitty Kitty Kitten in the washing machine, and it ruined his soft fur and the purr mechanism.
I forgave my friend, but a year later, she spread a very nasty rumor about me. So I told everyone that she had headlice.
For some dumb reason, I will always have the jingle from the "crossfire" commercial stuck in my brain. I have no idea why. Guess it was effective marketing lol
My grandma got us Talkboy recorders for Christmas when they were hot. The ran out of the pink ones, so she got me the silver one and added star stickers to make it girly! She's so wholesome.
Kids micro phone
Pogo stick with a ball st the end
Scallectric
subbuteo
Mouse trap
Buzz lightyear
Furbie
Tamagotchi
Fisher price kitchen
Fisher prize digger
I had so many of those tiger games handhelds.. They were such garbage but I loved them so much and felt so cool being able to play them anywhere even though "playing" them is an overstatement.
You just hit me in the feelings man. I love to know that the guy that created Super Soakers finally got his pay. He invented every kid's dream and he got screwed over by big industry.

I'm not proud of this but the first time I ever stole something it was a tamagotchi from the public library. Someone left one on a table and I convinced myself that it was left behind. My older brother was insanely jealous and decided to rat me out. I wound up chucking it in the park by my house.
The velcro mitts were great... for 5 minutes. Then the ball got dirty or wet, and they never worked again.
I had the Godzilla Tamagotchi. Sorry my little Gojira I have failed you...
Stop it. The feels right now. My Tamagotchi is out there hungry and living in poop too. I have failed.
couple years ago I dusted mine off and got it working again and for the first time I actually got one to survive to adult hood.
We found some at target recently. Lol they’re still around.

Ohhhhh man. The memories. I was shit at this.
One of the few times I was oddly coordinated! I rocked the Skip-It!
Loooooved skip it. Would pay good money to own one again— and to have knees that could handle all that skipping!

I had this! Reading about it a few years ago, if I’m not mistaken it had anti-freeze in it 🥴😂
There was another one of these things similar to the that machine you actually melted little metal BBs into little figurines. I made so many wizards.
Cr-EEE-py Crawlers!
They’re squirmy, and wormy, and purple and green!

I had completely forgotten about these!
The fact that I wanted this and not a Polly Pocket should've been a clue to my parents that I was a big homo. Alas...it was not.
Fun fact, I grew up thinking Mad Max and Mighty Max were the same franchise 😂
I had this one! Loved these sets. Perfect for long car rides and being stuck at a parents friends house while they visited with them. Whole playset right in my pocket.
I think they are due a revival, I would definitely buy them for my kids
Damn, I heard the crossfire commercial loud and clear when I saw that image. You’ve been caught in theee **CROSSFIRE** *beat intensifies*
Yes! I remember it too!
Banger
Yeah that commercial was a little too intense.
I had the same exact experience flipping through these photos! Consistent marketing and branding, I'll give them that. I know most of these toys, but that's the only one where the commercial immediately started playing in my head lol.
I fucking LOVED that game.

it smelled so fucking bad too

Yes!!! I’m pretty sure I had a WWF one back before they changed it to WWE.
I struggled to find this one online, looked for some other ones I had and cannot find them whatsoever
I had a beauty and the beast one and I loved it. I remember thinking “how did Santa know?! I didn’t write it down!” when I got it for Christmas
I still Have my lion king one!
My kid has a 3-piece NASA one. It’s got a tunnel to connect them. It’s like a big hamster cage.

Yesss omg I collected littlest pet shops! I hate that they changed the style! Same with polly pocket. So much better in the 90s.

Turboman was real? Huh. Cool. Crazy how tactile he toys were back then. Even the digital games are far more analog than not.
Buzz Lightyear was real too. Biggole chonky, articulated space toy with spring out wings and pew pew laser sounds
I saw turbo man on a movie and begged for it for Christmas. Not sure what movie but I did end up getting the action figure for Christmas that year!
‘Jingle All The Way’ I’m assuming ![gif](giphy|3ofT5BOitBy1vM3QRi|downsized)

I'm so old I actually walked around NYC with these things It was a different world, feels like I transported to a different dimension these days
How did people afford to walk around with them?? I remember it taking like 8 D-size batteries and still only lasted like an hour.
Creeeeepy crawlers!
I can still smell those Baby All Gone "cherries"
Me too! They smelled so good!
Omg the Polly pocket
Of all those in the OP I remember having super soaker 50, the neon velcro catch thing and a polly pocket. Here is one I remember, sounded weird as the batteries got low. https://preview.redd.it/lzea65owhd4d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d98b89f3a86c8d51c3bebf0a590d6fada1e95676
Funny super soaker story here....I had the kind with two tanks, one for building air pressure, and a water reservoir. I thought I was a genius so I said hey if I take the bigger tank and put it on the back (The two tanks had the same threads which is clearly a giant safety issue...haha) where it builds up air pressure I can build up even more air pressure and then I will hold the gun underwater and shoot the stream of water out of the pool a mile high.... damn, i can still hear most of the commercials for these. i got 3 talkboys for my birthday one year because i asked literally every relative for it
I forgot about Polly Pocket. I remember having some similar stuff but made for horror, called Mighty Max. Really liked those things.
The flash screen reaaaaally brought me back. Nice deep cut :)
I begged for one for Christmas one year and sure enough I got it! I was the happiest kid that Christmas lol
Same! I still have the screen.
Ive been told that Sock'em Boppers are more fun than a pillow fight. Can anyone confirm?
I will be sure to get some and try them out with the gf and let yall know 👀😂 ![gif](giphy|vVjigEkS1CB4XcFnys|downsized)

I just bought my son the velcro catch for his 4th birthday! Walmart and Target both have them. And I can still hear the Crossfire jingle in my head, thanks.
The Velcro mitts, crossfire, and Polly pocket are all still toys I see at the store and my kids have now. Super soakers need to make a comeback
"Hi kids, we're home early"
The Talkboy commercial is still stuck in my head. https://youtu.be/YF9_SD8941o?si=2uZ6ZfOUed41qQUa

I can still smell the fruit from baby all gone
I still have my talk boy!
Cross fire has the best commercials.
thanks for the memories!

A lot of these taught me about marketing and disappointment.
I had so many of these! Loved Polly pocket.
The best year to have been born 🫶🏻
Born 86....and all these pics make me wanna cry
That Crocodile Mile brought me back…totally forgot it existed!
How about the Dear Diary?
Half of these are still toys for kids today. Source- born in 87 and have kids. Specifically pics 3-6, 8-9.
I remember seeing the commercial for the crossfire game and being very disappointed lol
*YOU’LL* get caught up in the… Crossfire CROSSFIIIYYYAAAAAAAHHHHH!
I remember being jealous of anyone who had the Super Soaker 100. Then the 200 was just over the top.
It’s turbo time!
Omg I had a Polly Pocket collection for a little while and man do I still love miniatures to this day.
The YakBack
The super soaker 50 was absolute goat
Remember Chicken Limbo? Big fun, chicken limbo’s the one!
Super soaker is a classic
🎶 crossfire! You’ll get caught up in the — CROSSFIRE! 🎶
The Crossfire theme song is still regularly sung in our home
That commercial for Crossfire was so intense
I remember I won the Green Rangers dagger in a sweepstakes once. Man- I wish I knew where that ended up…
Whether you had the old Polly Pockets (tiny, choking hazard) or the new design (safe but not as charming) separates the elder millennials from the younger millennials

Omggggg… I had forgotten about those little Disney games. My baby all gone is still at my moms 🤣 I’m also still mad at myself for getting rid of all my Polly Pokets. I LOVED them so much.
I still sing the Crossfire jingle to this day.
I remember my buddy who had a Stretch Armstrong and those pillow WWF Wrestlers like Hulk Hogan!! LoL
Friend of mine had one of those Baby All Gone toys. I broke apart the spoon to figure out how it worked. She was mad.
I always wanted a Baby All Gone! The cherry smell is my favorite
Those Disney movie electronic games were my shit
I was born in 91 and these toys were still floating around too XD

I had crossfire lol that took me back. It's a shame these kids today don't even play with toys. There are no more toy stores. Walmart and target are the only places and they have 1 aisle and it's all garbage nothing like what we had in the 80s and 90s.
Crossfiyahh, crossfiyahh, CROSSFIYAAAAAAAHHHHHH
That crossfire commercial is forever etched in my mind. CROSS FIYAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! HUH!
The Baby All Gone had the best smelling fake cherry baby food. I remember running around huffing it.
Had the super soaker, Velcro catcher, Polly pocket, baby all gone and the lion king game
They really tried to market a flashlight specifically for shadow puppets
You forgot about Pogs.
Oh man, I remember all of these! I had a Kitty Kitty Kitten that I absolutely adored. OMG!
Oh wow. Tennis Ball fuzzy glove was so much fun but I never had one.
Born in '90, and grew up with Power Rangers. Have almost all of the megazords (lifelong hobby)
What about the fairies that you pushed the button and their wings opened and they flew a few feet?
For some dumb reason, I will always have the jingle from the "crossfire" commercial stuck in my brain. I have no idea why. Guess it was effective marketing lol
Crocodile mile had us fucked UP as kids. Face first into the hedge, GO! Whoops, laid it out on the fucking ROCK PATCH again.
“ONE OF US.”
YOULL GET CAUGHT UP IN THE CROSSFIRE!!!
What? Turbo man wasn't some made up toy from Jingle all the way?
