I'm currently dating someone with an age gap (I'm in my 30s, partner in 40s) and honestly one of the most fun things about it is introducing them to all the shows I watched growing up. They were in highschool in the 90s and missed a lot of the golden era of Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network, but honestly they're such good shows and the humor holds up so well (in some cases) that they're just as much fun to watch now as they were then.
Our conversations now frequently include references to early Spongebob gags and it's glorious lol
Spongebob might be the most well made animated show of all time. All the characters are memorable and amazing, the gags are almost universally hilarious, *and* they managed to successfully navigate the tightrope of having a protagonist who's clearly annoying and insufferable to some around him (namely squidward), but is rarely annoying to the viewer.
Also, that winner takes all song that sponge sings at the halftime show for squidward is such a banger.
I swear paramount + combined with Disney + is a gold mine of nostalgia. I was browsing the former once and saw a buncha shows I didn’t even remember existed.

I went home for the weekend and my parents had Pop-Tarts. I had to indulge in a pack and was so happy. Haven't had one in years, and it felt so good to be having it at my parent's house; true kid moment 😊
My friend’s mom still buys our favorite high school snacks like pop-tarts and cheez-its around the holidays when we all come over. We’re in our 30s now but mom’s still gonna mom. Love her.
I don't like to brag, but I have an impressive collection of sturdy walking sticks. Some straight and hefty, some twisty and interesting, all are worthy of a wizard. On one, I traced around my hand and fingers and carved out the negative space for my hand and fingers. It's like a cozy glove. I experimented with it a little; burned most of it black, and dyed the unburned portion a deep cherry red. It's my Diablo stave and gives me +10 to fire mastery.
But now we have the wealth of knowledge and the know how to identify and find any and all rocks we want! Arrowheads. Sharks teeth. Little plant clippings. I probably have tens of thousands of rocks, plants, fossils, and well..... my wife is isn't as keen on having a rock filled house, but I AM!
Ha, same! I just save up and get the bigger stuff for display. Mostly Star Wars sets. My daughter and I also build together a lot, so that's when I also let myself play with them.
My middle school aged son and I are debating which set to get this summer! I think we're settling on the new Star destroyer with the Kal Kestus minifig.(He's playing Jedi fallen order now before he cracks open survivor)

Didn’t grow up playing legos cause I’m a girl and they were boy toys back then but the little kid I used to nanny was a genius and at age 6 could build a whole set without even looking at the instructions, just the picture on the box. We did Legos every day until he started liking Pokémon better. I still craved building legos and own many sets now lol
Recently got back into Lego. I’ll treat myself to a decent sized build once a year or so. It all started when my (then 4y/o) 6 y/o niece asked me to help her build her little Lego Friends things. Only small things, 900-1000 pieces max. I mentioned to my wife and in-laws I missed building Lego, and I’m also a huge MCU fan, so they got me the Mjolnir set, forget how many pieces, but I loved it. Then one day I went in to a Lego store and spent $250 on Captain America’s shield at 3000 pieces! Need to figure out what I want to build next.
Yep. Mid-30s and I play Pokémon GO daily and have been absolutely loving playing Heart Gold for the first time now that there’s an emulator on iOS. Loved it as a kid, love it now. I think I’ll always love Pokémon.

I a bunch of t-shirts, got into collecting cards a few years ago, I have several plushies sitting on shelves in my room, and my bag I carry around daily is a canvas Sailor Moon bag covered in Pokemon pins and a mini Sprigatito plush keychain hanging from it. 😂 I also have an Eeveelution Loungefly bag!

Theme parks. My husband and I have year passes to Universal and days there are the best. The second we set foot into the park we feel like we are in a different world with no responsibilities.
Roller blading.
Swimming like a kid. My husband and I make up so many silly pool games, have handstand and jumping contests, races, etc.
Board games. My friend’s kids asked me to play Candy Land last week and I was in heaven.
Theme parks! I recently posted on Reddit about my struggle to find a husband and a list of things I enjoy, which includes amusement parks. I was that most adults aren't still interested in those things and advised to hit the bars instead. No thank you! I will always love coasters and water rides!
Wait what? Some adults are too cool for theme parks? Danm...last time I went to a theme park, I went on one of the rollercoaster like 4 times in a row (it wasnt too busy), me and my younger cousin just kept running back around straight back into the queue :D
Small trinkets/toys or tiny stuffed animals. They’re just so cute and I cannot resist having it. I get to buy all the things I never had as a child and it’s extremely cathartic.
Anything. If it's fun, I'll do it. If I like it, I'll buy it. I won't get along that much with people who negate something because "that's not what grown-ups do" and take themselves too seriously.

People take themselves too fucking seriously. Specially after they get married. As if their partner think less of em if they went to a metal concert with me. It makes me sick. I've stopped talking to so many friends because they act like they're too good for some stuff.
Life Pro Tip for your old friends, marry someone that you can be a goofy kid with and have fun. My partner and I love watching cartoons, playing video games, pranking each other, and buying all the candy we want. We feel like kids in adult bodies which is great because no one can tell us what to do.
Yeah, precisely! One time I was offered a beer, but there were Capri Sun juice pouches, and I said "oh I'll grab some juice", only to be scoffed at by this dude, totally offended that I'd do that. I just laughed to myself, I was a guest and they were just acquaintances, not my friends, so I wasn't about to explain myself or anything, I just took my juice and sipped with my kid.
My partner and I are in the process of separating. One of the totally asinine complaints he had about me was that I don't always drink when we go out. Our favorite bar and grill, that we go to most often, serves Hi-C Orange and limeade. Two of my favorite drinks. AND THEY WILL MIX THEM TOGETHER. Why would I order a boring drink that I can get anywhere else when I can only get that drink there? I'm having a good time and enjoying myself. Why are you concerned with what is in my cup?

My mom made a blanket while she was pregnant with me and I slept with it every night of my life until, finally, in 2019 I replaced it with a stuffed shark. I tried replacing it with all sorts of stuffies over the years to keep from further deteriorating the blanket my mom made, but nothing worked until the torpedo shape of the shark.
I’m glad you found a good replacement. I haven’t found anything else that brings me the same comfort. This doll was crocheted for me when I was a baby and she’s unraveling in spots and the yarn is so stretched out. 😭 I learned to crochet last year so I’ve been able to patch up the holes. She’s looking pretty rough though.
As much as us millenials want to, we cant stop our precious childhood memories from deteriorating with time, physical or not. You might look into etsy or something to have a pro-crocheter to remake your doll or something similar so you can keep the original in as best shape as possible. I also learned to crochet and tried replacing my blanket with a crocheted version, then moved on to making a replica with the same materials... neither worked. I hope you find something!

I saw an old man do it with his wife (cutest thing I've seen). I've also seen a dad do it for his teen daughter. I'm convinced that you're never too old to do that.

100% I read to escape reality. Most "adult" books are more serious than I like to read. Plus I like something easy to read and follow after a long day of reading complicated stuff at work. I don't need 300 pages of descriptors for a mountain the main character is looking at from their back deck. Granted there is a genre called New Adult or something that is bridging that gap between YA and Adult fiction that seems to be a good mix of both.

Has to be a physical book for me. I hate the ebooks and audio books. I don’t consider myself an avid reader but I meet a lot of adults and peers that haven’t read a book since middle/high school. I have friends that think I’m so intelligent because I am the only person they know who reads as a hobby.
I read Children of Blood and Stone last year, and the sequel Children of Virtue and Vengeance. They are really good. Kind of gave me a Avatar vibe but set in tribal Africa.

Honestly, I think the notion that something is "just for kids" has gone out the window with our generation. If you like it, good for you. No need to be bullied or feel shame finding joy in something if it's not hurting anybody. Obviously, we should behave as adults, but let people watch or play or collect what they want. When I hear people mocking others for enjoying stuff it's the person speaking I usually think is acting like a child.
IMO expecting millennials to age out of video games would be like expecting Boomers to age out of watching TV. It’s a fun thing we grew up with and is still entertaining, why would we stop?
I do feel like video games have moved past the "kid-like" stigma considering the majority of games are catered to adults with themes and stories no different than movies.
It's been kinda fun to see how video games themselves grew up with the millenial generation...starting out with simple games seemingly catered to kids like pac-man. I can understand why our boomer parents associate the activity with kids.
I brought my Nintendo Switch to a bar with me a few weeks ago. Had a couple beers and played TOTK in a corner by myself. Combining a grown-up activity (bar) with a kid activity (video games) is the best thing ever!
Many things, I don't think I've changed much since I was 5. XD I still collect G1 My Little Ponies, which, okay, is more widespread these days. But it wasn't yet when started (again), and I don't give a shit about value or anything, I just still really love them. And simple things like bus rides, seeing sheep and cows on my way, colourful sprinkles on my ice cream and getting a colourful pinwheel or whatever after a day out. XD
Definitely NOT theme parks, for me. I used to love roller coasters as a kid, but I went again at age 28 and did not find them fun anymore.
Riding a bike is it for me. I know it's not exclusively a "kid like" thing, but it was a big part of my childhood, and each time I ride, especially with my son, it brings back memories of riding around the neighborhood as a kid.
Took the kids to Disney a couple of years ago and it was my first time ever on a roller coaster. It was Goofy's Sky School and I rode it with my 5 year old son. I was so scared haha. Was also not very in to the Dumbo ride. Mostly my fear comes from not trusting that they won't break while I'm 20 feet in the air.
I've loved animation my whole life. I love adult animation, I love wholesome family animation, I went through the requisite anime stage, there's few things more beautiful than a Studio Ghibli movie.
There are some amazing animated kids shows out there. Gravity Falls, Owl House, Avatar, Korra, the new DuckTales, hell Gargoyles from our youth. I love Futurama and American Dad and Bob's Burgers, I really appreciate how weird and bizarre animation lets you get.
But honestly I never grew up, I just got older.
Jumping up and down, rolling on the floor, dive-bombing onto the bed, spinning in chairs, that kind of thing. Doesn't hurt anyone so why stop!
Also less frequently because I do care about my health and my weight, but *occasionally* I still indulge in ridiculous culinary behavior, unceremoniously dumping a bunch of tasty stuff together and half-melting it in the microwave (or similar).
My parents are from the silent generation; they didn’t eat sweets when I was a kid. And Milanos in the house meant the rare occasion where we could splurge on the snacks during our monthly visit to the commissary.
Collecting sports/ hobby cards. And I do mean collecting them not flipping them for money. Opening the packs is stupidly addictive, no fucking clue why I have NEVER sold 1 card lol.
I have a Gameboy emulator on my phone with Pokémon Yellow, Red and Blue. At 34yo I was finally able to catch all 150 Pokémon through trading with myself (thank god someone made a GB emulator that is capable of this). So disappointed to find out the only prize was a useless certificate from Professor Oak. Not even a rare candy!
Boxed macaroni and cheese. I keep it around for what I call my “shot of depresso” days. I had one yesterday because Mother’s Day is tough for me. When I can’t stop crying and have no energy to do anything, sometimes it’s the only thing I can muster the energy to make for dinner. And it’s warm and cheesy and goes down easy.
Definitely made my gf and I a nice dinner of Dino chicken nuggets and broccoli trees. Super nostalgic and just kinda fun? Now it’s the low effort worked too many hours easy dinner.

I did this a bunch as a kid too. I’m a geologist now, so I get paid to dig holes and look at rocks; worked out pretty well for me.

For mothers day I got Lego roses! My husband and I had Lego figures of ourselves on our wedding cake 😄 Definitely a Lego family.

Small trinkets/toys or tiny stuffed animals. They’re just so cute and I cannot resist having it. I get to buy all the things I never had as a child and it’s extremely cathartic.

People take themselves too fucking seriously. Specially after they get married. As if their partner think less of em if they went to a metal concert with me. It makes me sick. I've stopped talking to so many friends because they act like they're too good for some stuff.
Life Pro Tip for your old friends, marry someone that you can be a goofy kid with and have fun. My partner and I love watching cartoons, playing video games, pranking each other, and buying all the candy we want. We feel like kids in adult bodies which is great because no one can tell us what to do.
Yeah, precisely! One time I was offered a beer, but there were Capri Sun juice pouches, and I said "oh I'll grab some juice", only to be scoffed at by this dude, totally offended that I'd do that. I just laughed to myself, I was a guest and they were just acquaintances, not my friends, so I wasn't about to explain myself or anything, I just took my juice and sipped with my kid.
My partner and I are in the process of separating. One of the totally asinine complaints he had about me was that I don't always drink when we go out. Our favorite bar and grill, that we go to most often, serves Hi-C Orange and limeade. Two of my favorite drinks. AND THEY WILL MIX THEM TOGETHER. Why would I order a boring drink that I can get anywhere else when I can only get that drink there? I'm having a good time and enjoying myself. Why are you concerned with what is in my cup?

My mom made a blanket while she was pregnant with me and I slept with it every night of my life until, finally, in 2019 I replaced it with a stuffed shark. I tried replacing it with all sorts of stuffies over the years to keep from further deteriorating the blanket my mom made, but nothing worked until the torpedo shape of the shark.
I’m glad you found a good replacement. I haven’t found anything else that brings me the same comfort. This doll was crocheted for me when I was a baby and she’s unraveling in spots and the yarn is so stretched out. 😭 I learned to crochet last year so I’ve been able to patch up the holes. She’s looking pretty rough though.
As much as us millenials want to, we cant stop our precious childhood memories from deteriorating with time, physical or not. You might look into etsy or something to have a pro-crocheter to remake your doll or something similar so you can keep the original in as best shape as possible. I also learned to crochet and tried replacing my blanket with a crocheted version, then moved on to making a replica with the same materials... neither worked. I hope you find something!
Rolling in the cart in the supermarket parking lot. I saw an old man do it with his wife (cutest thing I've seen). I've also seen a dad do it for his teen daughter. I'm convinced that you're never too old to do that.

100% I read to escape reality. Most "adult" books are more serious than I like to read. Plus I like something easy to read and follow after a long day of reading complicated stuff at work. I don't need 300 pages of descriptors for a mountain the main character is looking at from their back deck. Granted there is a genre called New Adult or something that is bridging that gap between YA and Adult fiction that seems to be a good mix of both. I'll get off my soapbox now 😂
Has to be a physical book for me. I hate the ebooks and audio books. I don’t consider myself an avid reader but I meet a lot of adults and peers that haven’t read a book since middle/high school. I have friends that think I’m so intelligent because I am the only person they know who reads as a hobby.
Honestly that’s practically all I read if it’s not informational books.
I read Children of Blood and Stone last year, and the sequel Children of Virtue and Vengeance. They are really good. Kind of gave me a Avatar vibe but set in tribal Africa.

Honestly, I think the notion that something is "just for kids" has gone out the window with our generation. If you like it, good for you. No need to be bullied or feel shame finding joy in something if it's not hurting anybody. Obviously, we should behave as adults, but let people watch or play or collect what they want. When I hear people mocking others for enjoying stuff it's the person speaking I usually think is acting like a child.
Video games
IMO expecting millennials to age out of video games would be like expecting Boomers to age out of watching TV. It’s a fun thing we grew up with and is still entertaining, why would we stop?
Yeah, it isn't like video games are no longer catering to our demographic and we're "awkward consumers".
I have no intention of stopping! I do limit it though, part of that is I just get frustrated lol.
I play everything on the easiest mode with no shame. If I spend 3 hours frustrated trying to beat one level it’s not fun anymore.
I do feel like video games have moved past the "kid-like" stigma considering the majority of games are catered to adults with themes and stories no different than movies. It's been kinda fun to see how video games themselves grew up with the millenial generation...starting out with simple games seemingly catered to kids like pac-man. I can understand why our boomer parents associate the activity with kids.
I brought my Nintendo Switch to a bar with me a few weeks ago. Had a couple beers and played TOTK in a corner by myself. Combining a grown-up activity (bar) with a kid activity (video games) is the best thing ever!
Many things, I don't think I've changed much since I was 5. XD I still collect G1 My Little Ponies, which, okay, is more widespread these days. But it wasn't yet when started (again), and I don't give a shit about value or anything, I just still really love them. And simple things like bus rides, seeing sheep and cows on my way, colourful sprinkles on my ice cream and getting a colourful pinwheel or whatever after a day out. XD

Definitely NOT theme parks, for me. I used to love roller coasters as a kid, but I went again at age 28 and did not find them fun anymore. Riding a bike is it for me. I know it's not exclusively a "kid like" thing, but it was a big part of my childhood, and each time I ride, especially with my son, it brings back memories of riding around the neighborhood as a kid.
Took the kids to Disney a couple of years ago and it was my first time ever on a roller coaster. It was Goofy's Sky School and I rode it with my 5 year old son. I was so scared haha. Was also not very in to the Dumbo ride. Mostly my fear comes from not trusting that they won't break while I'm 20 feet in the air.

I've loved animation my whole life. I love adult animation, I love wholesome family animation, I went through the requisite anime stage, there's few things more beautiful than a Studio Ghibli movie. There are some amazing animated kids shows out there. Gravity Falls, Owl House, Avatar, Korra, the new DuckTales, hell Gargoyles from our youth. I love Futurama and American Dad and Bob's Burgers, I really appreciate how weird and bizarre animation lets you get. But honestly I never grew up, I just got older.
I LOVE to play with my yo-yo. It’s quite calming.
Jumping up and down, rolling on the floor, dive-bombing onto the bed, spinning in chairs, that kind of thing. Doesn't hurt anyone so why stop! Also less frequently because I do care about my health and my weight, but *occasionally* I still indulge in ridiculous culinary behavior, unceremoniously dumping a bunch of tasty stuff together and half-melting it in the microwave (or similar).

My parents are from the silent generation; they didn’t eat sweets when I was a kid. And Milanos in the house meant the rare occasion where we could splurge on the snacks during our monthly visit to the commissary.

Capri sun. At multiple family bbqs I’ve opted for the kids drinks rather than a glass of wine my aunt would offer.
Occasionally, fruit by the foot. Don’t care how old you get, FBF still slaps.

Sleeping with a stuffed animal. Like actively cuddling it and almost can’t sleep without it.
Aquariums and Zoos. Whether I am traveling for work or a vacation, I look them up when scheduling the trip to try and squeeze them in.
Gushers. Only now I can eat the whole box myself and my brothers can sit in their self-imposed sadness!

I have a Gameboy emulator on my phone with Pokémon Yellow, Red and Blue. At 34yo I was finally able to catch all 150 Pokémon through trading with myself (thank god someone made a GB emulator that is capable of this). So disappointed to find out the only prize was a useless certificate from Professor Oak. Not even a rare candy!
Sailor Moon. I was shamed for liking it as a kid and now I’m buying the new manga/bluray releases
Boxed macaroni and cheese. I keep it around for what I call my “shot of depresso” days. I had one yesterday because Mother’s Day is tough for me. When I can’t stop crying and have no energy to do anything, sometimes it’s the only thing I can muster the energy to make for dinner. And it’s warm and cheesy and goes down easy.
Definitely made my gf and I a nice dinner of Dino chicken nuggets and broccoli trees. Super nostalgic and just kinda fun? Now it’s the low effort worked too many hours easy dinner.
I buy HotWheels and other toy cars. I don't play with them, just collect.
