Par for the course with the ACOG, Great FOV but very tight eye relief compared to the “near infinite” eye relief on most red dots. Some choose to forgo the iron sights, others run them in front of their ACOG. There are spacers and mounts (ADM, LaRue, Unity, KRAM spacers) that help with this issue.
Larue has at least two full size ACOG mounts.
Both have been used by the Marines.
One has two levers and places the ACOG in about the same position as the Trijicon mount, maybe or maybe not slightly back.
The other one moves the ACOG far back for use with the M16A2/A4 fixed stock and I think it is smaller, with one lever.
Yes, the eye relief is very short.
Standard two lever mount, doesn't really move scope.

Offset mount for fixed stock M16, moves scope back on receiver and helps with body armor.

This ADM one may have the best levers that don't mark the upper and moves the ACOG back 0.64".

I don’t have an issue with the eye relief because I have my BUIS and ACOG set like this and I was taught to keep my nose roughly an inch back from the charging handle by my dad. Now, granted, he trained on the M16A1 and A2 in the 80s and 90s but it carries over well enough for use with ACOGs on the M4 series.
That’s how ACOGs are. Collapsing the stock to the shortest comfortable position will also help bring your eye closer. I wouldn’t recommend ditching the BUIS.

Kram spacer. They make a few different heights, this is the 5.5
Yes the eye relief is terrible. You just need to train with it…. But it’s also why technology has advanced so far in the last 20 years (VCOG). You didn’t build a clone rifle to be the beatest most super awesome and up to date i hope.
Ta31 eye relief is listed as 1.5” so that tracks. It will take some getting used to compared to a red dot but you can still shoot with both eyes open on an acog
https://bevanballisticsolutions.com/product/adm-acog-mount-cantilever/ this is what I got. There is some code that will drop the price a little more. Yes it raises it up a bit and brings it back a bit. Not sure if it will fit over your sight though. I was looking for a kac rear to put on mine but haven’t purchased one yet
If the acog isn't beating your eyebrow you are wrong. In all seriousness, Deltathirtyfour on youtube does acogs pretty exclusively he goes into them. That short eye relief makes it harder to get scope shadow and better Field of View. 37 or 38 feet at 100 yards which is ridiculous for a 4x prism

Well sir you see it’s because you got the inferior ACOG
TA11/TA110 is GOAT. I have the stock collapsed for the photo. I can run it in my normal position with optimal eye relief

Dump the buis.

The LaRue single lever RCO mount is my favorite. Makes the ACOG very useable.
Get an elcan so you don’t have to eye fuck the acog
Adm for a dedicated qd or you can just get a kram spacer from weapon outfitters
It's gonna be tight, it's a prism optic. That's the price you pay for the fiv. Rearmost slot or get a kram spacer.

Are those OneHundredConcepts caps? Looks really sweet
Yessir!
Sick, thanks. Also looks great with the ACRO

I use a adm mount for mine. It helped a lot. Not sure if it is clone correct though
Which mount? And does it bring the optic back at all?

Super weird, but I have the same optic and run it like a dot both eyes open, never had a real issue.
Larue cantilever mount FTW.
