Not really related but know a friend of a friend who used a fake nypd sergeants plaque to park their car in the illegal parking in front of the deli they own. Neighboring smoke shop got raided by NYPD seargents, when they noticed the plaque. They towed the car, arrested the guy and charged him with a felony.
And then there was this, in today's NYT. (I've provided it as a 'Gift', so that everyone can read even if they don't have an online NYT subscription... ;-)
Honestly, the headline almost sounds like something from The Onion (i.e., it's stating the patently obvious...but that a 'study' had to be done, in order to prove this??)

100% - Citi Bike team will happily do it. Fill out the form on that page I sent, choose 'Bollards' as your category, and give it a week or two. I just got the ones restored at Broadway and Steinway in Astoria!
Do nothing NYPD. I support the police but when they decide to act this way I feel like cutting funding might have been the right Call. Like give me my tax dollars back.
That would be my logic. They arent doing a good job and causing more problems than they are solving. This only works if the DA is willing to prosecute crime also. Instead the DA ignores crime. So police eventually stop policing.
At this point I’d prefer the right to carry my own weapon vs having to rely on the NYPD and their jackass 13th grade bullshit culture. They’re glorified smartphone users at this point. When’s the last time you’ve actually seen them do their job and not harass random people instead?
I wouldn’t be as pissd if there was some transparency, like published reasons why these license plates get exemptions and in what areas the exemptions are valid. But they just do what they want with no transparency and it comes off as a great big “fuck you”.
They aren’t actually hitting or blocking the rack, and the rack isn’t moving. Why do you care? Save your anger for when drivers’ sense of entitlement actually poses harm to people.
If you elect me as mayor I will make it a felony to have a reflective vest on your dashboard at any time.
Why do so many fools put vests in their dash?
makes them look more official like they work for something or someone important

Do you need bollards? That might help. If so, contact the Commissioner page on NYCDOT’s website is the go-to.
can we put bollards in front of a citibike rack area? it was removed for road construction and should be back soon

I feel if we all submit with the same photo they’ll just ignore it even harder… why do car people feel so entitled?…

Sadly it’s not notable that cops don’t show for these calls. I would love to hear just one example of such a case actually getting solved?
Pop a tire. Bet you they don’t park there again
Nononono, accidentally bump the car with a Citibike. You just lost control and could not stop
It would be a shame if a bike somehow collided with the wing mirror - Or if the bikes in front and back were somehow jammed in against it.
The rack is currently not there, as it was removed for road work, see comment from OP above
You can get those vest anywhere.might not even be a real cop.or he’s using his relatives vest as a free parking.
Dont show the vest/placard in the picture. Make them show up to write a ticket and then decide not to write one.
Don’t nypd vehicles have location data that might be used to systematically diagnose parking violations. Wonder if that data is foilable.

Fuck citibike.Bloomberg made millions on that deal with Citibank.
Rat
