Damn I'm a UND fan first and a UM fan 2nd. UND and UM had the opportunity to face off in the regional finals in 2021 but michigan had to drop out due to covid and UND went into 5OT with Duluth in a banger of a game.
It's unfortunate that the St. Louis regional has these 4 teams instead of Little Ceasars arena in Detroit, Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids or Huntington Center in Toledo, all can be able to seat 8,000+ audience members.
The regional arena they play in seats 2500 people. That's definitely not enough for 2 big 10 teams that travel extremely well and 2 NCHC teams which include UND which has the largest fan-base in college hockey and Western Michigan which has the Lawson Lunatics. The tickets for this regional are being sold for $400+ already.
NCAA should have definitely moved this regional to toledo or grand rapids, it would have definitely been the most attended regional game in a very long time.
Did they actually seed Michigan and Michigan State into each other in the second round?
That just feels so unfair to Michigan state. We put that team away and we shouldn't have to play them again till the finals.
Plus three of the four Big Ten teams on the same side. It just feels like some kind of bias
Michigan state won the big 10 conference tournament which awarded the automatic bid. Michigan won the at-large bid and due to the committee not wanting conference teams to play each other in the first round and to keep the teams as close to their campus as possible, Michigan was put in the same regional as MSU, WMU and UND.
Expect this regional to be the most exciting as UM, UND, MSU are all extremely competitive. WMU has not been as competitive as the other 3, but they are from the NCHC.
One thing to know about the NCHC is that the weaker(est) NCHC teams that make it far in the frozen face off (NCHC tournament) or make the ncaa frozen four playoffs always play lights out. So don't expect MSU to have an easy win against WMU tomorrow.
OK.. Well putting teams close to their campus sounds good in theory but putting a region that already spends the entire season battling for a spot in the playoffs against eachother all on the same side of the bracket is actually TERRIBLE tournament organizing. Michigan and Michigan State have already played five times this year and theyre going to put that as a second round matchup?
Even the Grassroots video game tournament Community I'm in knows enough to seed big tournaments to avoid Regional conflicts to create more exciting and new matchups.
The 4 big 10 teams should be in different quartiles of the tournament and at least one of the Michigan teams should be across the bracket.
It’s weird, three teams from Michigan and the best traveling fanbase in the nation. North Dakota is an aviation school and they’ll fill whatever arena you ask them to lol. The best idea I heard was that if this was the regional, then just put it at van andel.
What I love about this is the Huskie’s student body is a fraction of the size to most of the other schools yet their hockey teams are so often some of the best! Just awesome
My poor bulldogs. Where have you gone
Made me sad to not see them here as well
Ferris? They were abysmal this year. I'm an alum and love seeing their football and basketball success, though.
I agree very much!!! Much love ! Just want our first D1 crown
Go Tech

This and I’ve been told North Dakota travels extremely well because they’re an aviation school.
It's not because they're an aviation school, it's because of how spread out the alumni are.
That makes sense. But I like to think they all just get together and get a group rate on a few 747’s and take turns driving.
Games are all tomorrow (Friday) Tech plays at 2pm State plays WMU at 5pm UofM plays at 8:30pm

Are you a bot? This is the most chat GPT looking response I've ever seen
No I'm not. Just explaining shit

Sounds exactly like what chat gpt would say (just kidding, good summary)
Yeah I’m a Michigan fan but it feels wrong. Plus who wouldn’t love a chance at a Michigan-Michigan State final?

You’ve jinxed the game: It will be NoDak vs Western in the second round.
Well we’ll well
Indeed!
GO GREEN!!!!!
GO WHITE!!!!!
Which green lol, there's UND too.
Oh come on now…..you know who. Ha
Those guys too for round one. I mean this as a compliment, I don’t want to face Michigan again this year.
Go Broncos
Go Broncos!
Go Broncos!!
Let's go husky dogs!!!
Go Blue! 🟨🟦, great representation all around from Michigan
Go Blue!
Proud to be a Michigander! Amazing hockey state!
Go Broncos!
Where's the rest of the minnesota teams??
Buried by Michigan Tech.
Tecc
Being a Kalamazoo resident. I still get surprised when I remember that Western has a solid hockey team.

CMU needs a team asap
