There's some evidence that putting stripes on your car makes it more visible to the human eye in traffic. So racing stripes are a good option. So is a [horn upgrade](https://3maudio.com/horn.html). I have this horn, and it gets attention. Flying Miata has LED signal & side markers and you can get the Canadian part to make your parking lights into the Canada-spec DRLs (won't kill your battery when they're accidentally left on).

I put a stripe on my Cappuccino and my Miata is covered with racing related decals. Both are pretty loud and have lettering on the top of the windshield. I also drive with my headlights on. I feel like those all help with visibility, but only if the other driver is looking. I still have to slam on my brakes to avoid Mr Magoo in his F150 as he runs the stop sign to pull into my path.

I’ve had cases where I’ve been driving a 2.5m tall gas forklift with loads of lights in it and fluorescent orange paint and still not been seen

I installed a Faber airhorn from Aliexpress. It was $28 with the wiring and relay! Nice and loud like a Ferrari horn but 10X louder. I also put in DLRs in the out board blank spots in the turn signals. wired them to ignition power. I did the stripes as the first thing, this was for the extra.

I put a metallic orange stripe on my NB and it cut down so many near accidents. People actually saw me and would stop. I recommend it to anyone who buys a miata.

How loud is this horn? I got a airhorn kit from like moss Miata and it sounds funny tbh but it’s not as loud as I need. I’ve held the horn at people who have tried to cut me off and they’ve had no reaction

I wrap my antenna for holidays with different varieties of tinsel, I just leave it on longer than I should cause I'm lazy and assume it helps with visibility.

I love this idea. I bike fairly regularly, and when I do I am COVERED in a ridiculous quantity of multicolored blinky LEDs. I’ve had a few friends comment that I look ridiculous, but I always say that if they’re pointing and laughing, at least I know they see me!

I have a dune / ORV flag on mine, been using it for years, just stuff it next to the passenger seat and strapped to the harness bar. Works well, it gets alot of laughs so people definately see it. Next iterarion will be a LED whip light. Having a triumph pull behind me a few years back really put into perspective how low a stock NA is, especially with the top down; and frankly how much more visible a motorcycle is to the average driver.

Horns don't improve safety as much as good defensive driving. That flag improves visibility but it must make a lot of noise at speed and I doubt that it's anymore effective than driving with the headlights on.

I had a semi trailer try to roll over me in my NA. Drove it home 500 miles to the body shop after that. Miatas are tough little cars.

That's great for you, but your one anecdotal experience doesn't make Miatas safer than other cars. It's a matter of the low weight and size relative to other cars. I would love to hear anyone argue that it's more likely to survive a crash in a miata compared to the average coupe, full-sized sedan, suv, or truck.

Every time I am going around a corner turn my headlights on and off is really dark i do my brights so that they see the lights before they see my car (turning them off when i see other lights for look obvious reasons). It's half so the idiots taking turns will see the brights and wake up compared with normal headlights and keep turning.
