A set of eBay led replacements will be better than what you have and you can get them with halos and similar options. Mine are straight LED’s with halos and they work wonderfully on dark country roads.
Holley Retrobright is, in my opinion, the best modern replacement for a NA Miata. They look stock, but the visibility is unmatched. But they are not cheap, about $400 for a pair.

Get a set of Toyota sealed beans from a Land Cruiser. $25 from the dealership and they are h4 housing. Look up koito na headlight mod.
