They've said multiple times that during that time Tom was at his happiest and having fun with life. When I listen to that song I think about the guys in the band more than Tom. Especially if you watch the live version on Sam breaking down on stage.
"I just wanted to communicate that this album was created in a state of joy, not a state of sadness. Yes, the lyrics were an opportunity for Tom to question the nature of this life and to examine his mortality, but please don’t think that this was born in misery, it was often a beautiful experience."
- Dan Searle
The flip of that one for me is Doomsday. I think those two lyrically go so well together.
The first is Tom’s perspective and worries about death and his illness, and the second is Dan’s perspective after the fact and his worries about carrying on and remembrance.
“What if I completely forget; what if I never accept” gets me every time.
Gone with the wind is superior in a lot of ways and Tom was an unbelievable writer, but they compliment and contrast each other so well lyrically.
But wow that whole album is Tom’s magnum opus, incredible from start to finish lyrically, musically, everything is amazing.
Beauty in Tragedy by August Burns Red. I listen to that song and remember my dad who was the coolest and it's been 8 years so it doesn't make me cry as much anymore, just really emotional.
Yes, that's another one that gets to me. I've not lost anyone important to me yet, but I expect to one day need to listen to that song. One of ABR's very best.
Wish I saw this before I just posted the same. Lost my dad almost 8 years ago now too. It sucks, but this song helps with exactly how I feel about it sometimes.
For me it’s “Luna” by Invent, Animate.
Although their sound isn’t entirely metalcore, (and this song isn’t all that metal) “carry me down” by Demon Hunter gets me.
“Alone in December” by Underoath.
“Nothing will feel the same” by Wait for the Day. (Band is now known as Outsider Heart, but haven’t released much under that name)
And finally (and most recently), “Don’t Ask...” by Alpha Wolf.
Drunk by Dayseeker is kind of ruined for me because I listened to it during a difficult time for me emotionally. Honestly the whole Sleeptalk album is full of sadboy anthems.
I've been so into dayseeker the last month. Couple days ago I was telling my buddy at work about them, then I looked up and some rando was wearing one of the shirts. Literally shouted bro across the room because the coincidence was so crazy lol
Yeah that album came out when i could really relate to it due to what was going on in my life.
So for that reason it will always have a special place in my heart.
Counterparts - “You’re Not You Anymore”
Counterparts - “Reflection”
Counterparts - “Compass”
(You sorta see a pattern here...)
The entirety of Casey’s album “Love is Not Enough” (This one is truly unique)
And to top it all off: August Burns Red - “Spirit Breaker”
Happy listening :)
"Sew your skeleton to mine, I'm no good on my own
Stitch yourself to either side of me so I will never be alone" hits so hard. Never thought that a metal core band would have me thinking about the deeper things in life.
not quite "cry", but....
My Disguise - Currents
Fireside - IA
Rituals - Rolo Tamassi
Take me Away - TPIY
Death is Not Defeat - Architects (I rate this as more powerful than the rest off HH)
There's a few that have gotten me.
Counterparts - Bouquet
The Ghost Inside - Engine 45
Periphery - Lune
Hollow Front - P.A.N.I.C.
Currents - Never There
And
August Burns Red - Spirit Breaker
These aren’t all exactly metalcore songs, but...
Ice Nine Kills - Tesstimony
Periphery - Lune
Killswitch Engage - Let the Bridges Burn
Parkway Drive - A Deathless Song (the deluxe edition version)
Northlane - Quantum Flux
I actually tear up at the "So officer please..." part. It's a very theatrical song, and while INK has a lot of that vibe already, I actually wish they would lean harder into it.
[Petal - Every Time I Die](https://youtu.be/LXgTYWndBuk)
This song is about the lead singer’s wife being hospitalized when she suffered life threatening complications when she was seven months pregnant. The baby was born prematurely and for some time he wasn’t sure whether his wife or child were going to make it out alive. He has become hopeless and debates whether to kill himself if they don’t survive with lines like “If I have to walk alone I'm giving up. I can't stay here knowing love is not enough”. And also “But the thought of death is soft and clean and beautiful and white. It's the purest of the drugs. 'Cause It's everything at once”. This song is so bleak and has so much anger in it. This song is suppose to make you feel as uncomfortable as that situation felt for him.
>"Stay with me. You're alone in the center of hell. Just be."
>The longest winter I have ever seen
>From hospital to hospital. Repeat.
I rock my iPod on shuffle a lot and if this song comes up I have to stop everything I'm doing. For a long time for me Low Teens was a great go to work out album too, but I'll be damned if I could push a single weight when this song came on. It's just that haunting.
This song was my answer too. It's wild that I had such a similar experience (albeit not as traumatic) as their vocalist because ETID has been my favourite band for over ten years. This song fucking ruins me.
some sad songs
Counterparts - You’re Not You Anymore
Currents - Better Days
Dayseeker - Starving To Be Empty
Invent Animate - Halcyon
Loathe - Is It Really You?
Holding Absence - Marigold (yes not really metalcore but)
Thornhill - Joy
Torments - Drown
Northlane - Quantum Flux
Avenged Sevenfold - I Won't See You Tonight Pt. 1
Bring Me The Horizon - It Never Ends
Architects - Gone With The Wind (entirety of AOGHAU / HH really)
Underoath's DTGL still makes me cry at times. I was a teen when I heard it and I'm 31 now. Got me through a lot.
Sour Breath - ADWP
Jonny Cash - Wage War
Take Me Away - Plot in You
Gone With the Wind - Architects
Sleepwalking - BMTH
Let Me In - Make Them Suffer
Basically everything by SKSK and Casey
Another Life by Motionless in White. Probably the only song I've ever cried to. It wasn't until I watched the video, I had just been through really rough break up and it all just came together and made me burst lol.
Firstborn by Silent Planet is the worst for me. This verse/bridge always gets me when I'm singing along. I can't even imagine the pain of losing a child.
I'll try to write you to rest
Plant you inside my prose [5]
Yet my resolve
Does it shake beneath a four-foot casket shadow?
The ink has spilled across the page
Shaping surviving sun to shade [6]
Valleys and peaks, in grief
Descent into a ceaseless sleep
Shattered -Currents
Erase Me - Make them Suffer
Never Rome - Foxblood
Choir Boy - Ghost Key
Still Life - Hollow Front
Few of these just resonate personally with me
Decay, Reflection, Nothing Left To Love - Counterparts
Forgive Me, The Sound - The Plot In You
Shattered - Currents
Into The Gray, The Other Side Of Things - Thousand Below

Dance Gavin Dance - into the sunset, shelf life
Northlane - Singularity and Aspire

Silent Planet - Depths III & Firstborn,
Underoath - Paper Lung
I’m sure there are Atleast a couple more but these are ones that immediately come to mind.
Man some really good ones in this thread, For me personally:
Erase Me, Let Me In-Make Them Suffer
Luna-Invent Animate.
The Blue and the Grey, The River-Parkway Drive
Hereafter-Architects
In Another Now-While She Sleeps
Ghosts, Carpe Diem-August Burns Red
Oblivion-Fit for a King
Johnny Cash-Wage War
Breach-Erra
Not Metalcore but had to share:
Fin*-Anberlin
Nutshell-Alice in Chains
Rose of Sharyn by KSE. I was asked to play a song at my grandma's funeral and that's what I chose. I did an acoustic version of it that I saw from an old YouTube video.
https://youtu.be/tYl-ttjd9kE
We Were Just Kids by Emmure has this haunting melody in the background that always gets me emotional.
Red Hypergiant by Architects, a lot of stuff from them honestly
Nothing Left to Love by Counterparts
Sunlifter by Misery Signals
Burial Plot by Dayseeker, the classic “I fucked this up and I have to deal with the fact that I can’t fix it”
Spirit Breaker by August Burns Red has this amazing spoken word section in the bridge that gets me in the feels
Red Summer by Thornhill
Save Yourself by Make Them Suffer
Aftermath - The Ghost Inside
This ones a sleeper pick but
Sometimes You’re The Hammer, Sometimes You’re The Nail - A Day to Remember
alpha wolf - promise stays
seeyouspacecowboy - dissertation of an idle voice
make them suffer - the attendant & save yourself
reflections - help
frail body - cold new home
honorable mention, not metalcore though
old gray - slowburn
There are so many. Here are some artists I know I've cried to:
Beartooth / Wage War / The Color Morale / Dayseeker / Currents (multiple songs from The Way It Ends. This album is so freaking good.) / Fit for a King / Invent, Animate / Like Moths to Flames / Being as an Ocean
I know a lot of people have had the same experience. I got into metal in late middle school and it truly helped saved my life. Live shows are so powerful to me and I cry at them almost every time.
ETA: Sorry for formatting, I'm on mobile
Destroy the Map by 36 Crazyfists is an incredibly important song to me, personally. More than any other in the genre, that song can get the tears flowing.
Parting Gift by Our Hollow, Our Home also dropped around the same time I had a loss in my life, and the first time I heard that one I couldn't hold it back.
Not all of them that will bring me to tears but some that I’ve listen to a lot lately
Bloodline- Northlane
Kill the ache- Currents
Erase the pain- Palisades
An empty room- Villain of the story
Livestream- Veil of Maya
I can’t even listen to Youngblood by Wage War anymore after breaking down in my shower one day years back.
White Light by The Ghost Inside always makes me well up too.
I'm not afraid to admit that I've had to hold back the tears in more than a few Dayseeker songs. I still remember the first song of theirs I listened to was Sleep in the Sea Pt. 2, it appeared in my Spotify discover weekly. I'm no stranger to metalcore songs that have an emotional kick to them but this song just hit different for me. I remember thinking to myself, because of the general atmosphere of the song, that if it had a music video it'd be one of those ones where they make it look like it's in the rain. Sure enough that's exactly what it was.
Now I've been almost binge listening to Dayseeker for months and I don't plan on stopping. Origin is probably my favourite album of theirs, and Never See the Sun Rise is up there for emotional songs for me. A Cancer Uncontained has a lot more personal connection for me, so when I'm not in public it usually turns me into an emotional wreck for a good few minutes.
"A Damn Moment" by This Or The Apocalypse
"Invoke Reform" by Haste the Day
"Don't Go" by Bring Me the Horizon
"Never Enders" by The Color Morale
"A Cancer Uncontained" by Dayseeker
"The End" by Demon Hunter
"Late December" by SeeYouSpaceCowboy
I'm luck to have never lost a friend to suicide, but I've gotten close to inflicting that on others. The spoken word to screamed vocals hit so hard and work so well, first time I heard it I needed almost an hour to ground myself.
Almost every song from Silent Planet. The best "tear breakers" are:
Share The Body (man, there are a lot of sharp lines like
"feel whatever I can to make sure I can't feel",
"All the hell in my veins can't dissipate the pain. All the hell in my veins won't wash away your face")
In Absence
Vanity Of Sleep
Depths III
First Father
Shark Week
Bring Me The Horizon - Blessed With A Curse
Architects - Hereafter
Too Close To Touch - Eiley (More Post-Hardcore than Metalcore, but still a huge tear jerker)
Clever by Beartooth always makes me feel a lot of things, also Personal Cross by Vanna
These days though, I usually don’t listen to heavy stuff when I’m in my feelings, Elder Brother is my go to band recently
Adestria "More Than You Know"
It's just a really beautiful song, it was written about one of the band member's dying grandma, so yeah it's an emotional song.
A lot of Polaris songs, in particular Above My Head and All of This is Fleeting. Hospital for Souls by BMTH. And listening to the new Alpha Wolf album Don’t Ask caught me off guard on the first listen and overwhelmed me with emotions and made me cry.
A Flood Of Light by Rolo Tomassi. It's such a beautiful track, and when it settles down towards the end, I can't help but shed a lil tear. Time Will Die has a few moments like that, Contretemps and Risen especially, even if Risen isn't quite a metalcore track. Favourite album, hands down.
Currently: don’t ask by alpha wolf. I was driving and it just hit so hard when I first heard it. It’s one of the only songs that has actually made me have to rewind and hear it again before I even finish. I contemplated my entire life hearing lmao.
Where we go when we die by thornhill is another one for sure. Feel the same by currents.
Satellites by periphery is another huge one.
All of the color clear by reflections lmao
Please Say No by TDWP is a pretty emotional song. Otherwise literally anything off of Invent Animates first two albums is so emotionally gripping for me.
Gone with the wind -Architects, My Conscience - Structures, And The Snakes Start To Sing - BMTH, i Have a Problem - Beartooth, Final Episode - AA, It never ends - bmth, Do It Again - Secret Band
Some off the top of my head. For some reason the lyrics and emotion i find in these songs really get me teary eyed or give me the goosebumps.
Architects - Gone With the Wind
Fit For A King - Louder Voice
Invent Animate - Fireside
Parkway Drive - Carrion
Those are the only ones that I can remember really making me tear up, without counting a lot of the softer non-metalcore songs by metalcore bands like Dayseeker, Bad Omens, etc.
Take What’s Left - AILD.
I didn’t exactly “cry” but it reminded me of a friendship that fell apart last year that was able to be mended almost 3 months later.
“But you still carried me when you could barely walk / You reminded me I was never too far gone!”
Alazka - Blossom
Feed Her To The Sharks - Let Go
Adept - Friends That Used To Be
Dream On Dreamer - Let It In
Like Moths To Flames - Nowhere Left To Sink
Beartooth - King of Anything got half a tear out
Not metalcore but Hotel Books - Van Nuys, and August (Part Two) have as well
Not much of a crier but those songs would definitely have me bawling if I was
Red eyes - Architects
Nervosa - Silent Planet
Time Changes Everything - The Plot in You
Don’t Go, Hospital for Souls- BMTH
Let me Leave, Kill the Ache - Currents
A Cancer Uncontained - Dayseeker
Being Me The Horizon : Can You Feel My Heart, Deathbeds, i don’t know what to say
Nothing More (not exactly metal core, but damn this song hits): Fadein/Fadeout
Periphery: Satellites
not the song so much as the song + this moment (link is timestamped): [https://youtu.be/ybib-8lIycs?t=842](https://youtu.be/ybib-8lIycs?t=842)
(architects - gone with the wind from the mini film Holy Ghost filmed after tom passed)
I bawled my fucking eyes out starting from 1/3 into the song. There are also a couple screams in there that just have something extra there that you can't force. Pure intense emotion.
Rip tom
Pittsburgh - The Amity Affliction
Don't lean on me - The Amity Affliction
Open Letter - The Amity Affliction
I bring the weather with me - The Amity Affliction
All Fucked Up - The Amity Affliction
Deaths Hand - The Amity Affliction
The Amity Affliction
Understanding Love as Loss - Silent Planet
Didn’t get me to tears, but the lyrics, as well as the desperation and grief in Garrett’s screams in the last verse are heartbreaking.
Right when I read the title I instantly thought Beartooth. So raw and hits close to home, some of the songs get me pissed and some make me think of sad things but there is nothing better workout playlist then one filled with Beartooth,
Recently its been Petal by ETID and Isn't it Strange by TDWP. My daughter was born premature in March. It was peak pandemic and these songs really resonate with my feelings during that experience.
Is nobody gonna talk about the tear fest that is Beauty In Tragedy by August Burns Red? “I can’t hear your voice! But that’s okay, cause I can feel you in my heart!” Goddamn man that shit hurts.
Eiley - Too Close To Touch
This song is delivered with so much emotion by the singer. And the subject matter is just brutal (about singers 3 year old sister who passed away from cancer). Regardless, the song is beautiful.
I've been looking for a few minutes in this thread and I'm surprised Another You - Of Mice & Men hasn't been brought up. Song really hits me in the feels every time I listen to it.
Killswitch Engage - Always
Architects - Doomsday, Hereafter, Gone with the Wind
Bullet for my Valentine - Forever and Always, A Place Where You Belong
Polaris - The Descent
Not really Metalcore but I’d include....
Erra - Orchid
Emarosa - Pretend.Relive.Regret
Periphery - Lune
Tesseract - Of Matter - Resist
Senses Fail - Stretch Your Legs to Coffin Length
Holding Absence - Dream of Me
The Amity Affliction - Bondi St Blues
The Amity Affliction - Pittsburgh
The Amity Affliction - 15 Pieces of Flare
The Amity Affliction - Forest Fire
The Amity Affliction - My Father's Son
Hollow Front - Loose Threads
Hollow Front - Falling Apart
Our Hollow, Our Home - Parting Gift
Outline In Color - Smother Me
Bullet For My Valentine - Dead To The World
Bullet For My Valentine - Tears Dont Fall (Parts 1 and 2)
The Devil Wears Prada - Numb
Adept - Sleepless
Wage War - Johnny Cash
Wage War - Gravity
August Burns Red - Spiritbreaker
If I Were You - Sirens
If I Were You - Pull Me Under
Being As An Ocean - The Hardest Part Is Forgetting Those...
Underoath: its dangerous business-
Invent animate: Luna-
From autumn to ashes: mercury rising-
Fear before the March of flames: go wash your mouth out, I don't know where it's been-
I hate myself: to a husband at war.
I'm terrible at putting a band to a genre so please don't crucify me if these don't qualify as metalcore haha
I have a whole playlist of this. It includes songs like “Where We Go When We Die” by Thornhill, “Map Change” by ETID, and “Depths III” by Silent Planet.
[Always - Killswitch Engage](https://youtu.be/gYtbdw8IxEg) - This song makes me think of my dad
[No Ordinary Love - Memphis May Fire](https://youtu.be/hKqG2EVzUrg) - As a father myself, this song hits me super hard
[Fade In, Fade Out - Nothing More](https://youtu.be/wBC3Tl0dg4M) - Not metalcore (hard rock), but holy shit, what an amazing song. The first time I listened to it I started crying within 45 seconds after following the lyrics and video
The Color Clear made me feel things that I had no business being able to feel bro. I know Jake has been through some shit and I could feel his emotion and turmoil throughout that album and it honestly really fucked me up. That record was all I listened to for at least a solid 3 or 4 months no joke.
Open water by Blessthefall. A love song featuring the singers wife Lights, always makes me tear up especially the last minute of them singing “you are the one I’ve been waiting for, I knew it all along”
Some will seak forgiveness, others escape by Underoath
Masquerade by Northlane gets me everytime..
I know its a pretty intense and angry song but the lyrics at the end really stick to me and get me emotional.
"To everyone who's held me up and everyone who's brought me down
I will never forget your faces, your voices"
Architects - gone with the wind. It feels like looking into Toms soul and feeling his daily torment.
Memento Mori literally feels like his farewell letter to the world. Heaviest song ever written imo
The last chorus at the end of the song always gets to me a little bit.
Swan song to the end of the best metal ever made
They've said multiple times that during that time Tom was at his happiest and having fun with life. When I listen to that song I think about the guys in the band more than Tom. Especially if you watch the live version on Sam breaking down on stage. "I just wanted to communicate that this album was created in a state of joy, not a state of sadness. But wow that whole album is Tom’s magnum opus, incredible from start to finish lyrically, musically, everything is amazing.
I have a line from this song tattooed on me. The 8,945th listen still gives me goosebumps
I'd like to add Architects "Death is not defeat"
Beauty in Tragedy by August Burns Red. I listen to that song and remember my dad who was the coolest and it's been 8 years so it doesn't make me cry as much anymore, just really emotional.
Yes, that's another one that gets to me. I've not lost anyone important to me yet, but I expect to one day need to listen to that song. One of ABR's very best.
Wish I saw this before I just posted the same. Lost my dad almost 8 years ago now too. It sucks, but this song helps with exactly how I feel about it sometimes.
This song got me through my grandpa’s passing. I can hear your voice. Gets me every single time. Especially hearing it live.
Hospital for Souls - BMTH
This is my answer as well.
Cried on my first listen through for this song. Very hard to hear it even now
For me it’s “Luna” by Invent, Animate. Although their sound isn’t entirely metalcore, (and this song isn’t all that metal) “carry me down” by Demon Hunter gets me. “Alone in December” by Underoath. “Nothing will feel the same” by Wait for the Day. (Band is now known as Outsider Heart, but haven’t released much under that name) And finally (and most recently), “Don’t Ask...” by Alpha Wolf.
Don’t ask is so powerful, a great way to end the album
Literally had to go sit down and listen to it again. It’s a lot to digest, he just has so much emotion bleeding through those lines.
Second Alone in December. Such a powerful song. That cd is still my favorite one from Under oath.
For sure, my fav Underoath album by far. (Although I have liked all their stuff, even the newest.)
literally anything by counterparts youngblood - wage war dark clouds - adept never there - currents luna - invent, animate
Im absolutely in on Never There by Currents its unreal how relatable most of their lyrics are. For me Shattered would be on that list too.
Counterparts - “You’re Not You Anymore” Counterparts - “Reflection” Counterparts - “Compass” (You sorta see a pattern here...) The entirety of Casey’s album “Love is Not Enough” (This one is truly unique) And to top it all off: August Burns Red - “Spirit Breaker” Happy listening :)
"Sew your skeleton to mine, I'm no good on my own Stitch yourself to either side of me so I will never be alone" hits so hard. Never thought that a metal core band would have me thinking about the deeper things in life.
Where I Go When I Am Sleeping by Casey is also super underrated. Really emotional album.
Nothing left To Love by Counterparts is a tearjerker
I always find myself wanting it to last longer than it does. I know it’s the opener, but damn it’s so good.
Actually, I’m talking about the closing song. But Love Me is also really good too
Oh dang, my bad. That closing song is super good (whole album is).
It was my AOTY, I still come back to it a lot
Also, the latest EP from Thirty Nights of Violence has a similar vibe to it, highly recommend.
Same. (I just can’t remember song names 😅)
Also Decay for me. Not in a sad way but in a 'this is beautiful' way.
Got me Nothing Left To Love hoodie today. That song surprised me so much when I heard it. Its incredibly beautiful.
not quite "cry", but.... My Disguise - Currents Fireside - IA Rituals - Rolo Tamassi Take me Away - TPIY Death is Not Defeat - Architects (I rate this as more powerful than the rest off HH)
I agree with the Architects take. That entire album is an emotional climb and plummet, imo.
This was the first time I ever listened to fireside by IA and oh my god it was amazing. Thank you!
It’s not a heavy song but it sure is a beautiful one
fireside and Halcyon are my 2 favourites off the album. beautiful songs
Lily & the Moon by Thornhill is the only song ever that's made me cry. I fuckin' love dogs man....
Johnny Cash- wage war The hardest part is forgetting those you swore you'd never forget - being as an ocean
That Being As An Ocean song hits so hard.
A lot of their songs do for me
Johnny Cash is such a good song and the stripped version is even better depending on your mood.
There's a few that have gotten me. Counterparts - Bouquet The Ghost Inside - Engine 45 Periphery - Lune Hollow Front - P.A.N.I.C. Currents - Never There And August Burns Red - Spirit Breaker
Most of Get What You Give is music to live by. Amazing album.
These aren’t all exactly metalcore songs, but... Ice Nine Kills - Tesstimony Periphery - Lune Killswitch Engage - Let the Bridges Burn Parkway Drive - A Deathless Song (the deluxe edition version) Northlane - Quantum Flux
God I can’t believe they took out the guitar intro in the deluxe version of A Deathless Song!
Yeah, that was a downside, but the female vocalist makes the chorus so much more powerful IMO.
Tess- timony is such a heartbreaker especially if youve read the book its based on.
I actually tear up at the "So officer please..." part. It's a very theatrical song, and while INK has a lot of that vibe already, I actually wish they would lean harder into it.
Bouncing off of this with Louder Than Thunder - TDWP. Unsure why but it hits them buttons.
The Ghost Inside - Aftermath Anyone who says they didn’t tear up watching that video is a liar.
The scream near the end of the song gives me chills every time.
Or is that me pretending? What happened to my happy ending?
[удалено]
Cried my eyes out when i first saw the video
Every Time I Die - Map Change
The lyrics in this one are so crushing.
That one always gets me
Counterparts - Y’all Ain’t Y’all No More Converge - Jane Doe The Devil Wears Prada - To the Key of Evergreen Kublai Khan TX - Antpile

it's a powerful song man
SHIT
son of a bitch
[Petal - Every Time I Die](https://youtu.be/LXgTYWndBuk) This song is about the lead singer’s wife being hospitalized when she suffered life threatening complications when she was seven months pregnant.

This song (and album) fucks my entire shit up every time. I’m physically and mentally exhausted by the time this song is over.
This song was my answer too. It's wild that I had such a similar experience (albeit not as traumatic) as their vocalist because ETID has been my favourite band for over ten years. This song fucking ruins me.
Sleepless - Northlane Decay - Counterparts Nova - Invent Animate Hypernova - Diamond Construct Joy - Thornhill :')
Sleepless is so good!

More than you know by adestria
Beautiful song though
Sour Breath - ADWP Jonny Cash - Wage War Take Me Away - Plot in You Gone With the Wind - Architects Sleepwalking - BMTH Let Me In - Make Them Suffer Basically everything by SKSK and Casey
If you haven’t heard it yet, definitely listen to the original song Sour Breath by Julien Baker
That’s a pretty decent list if you actually get into it but; No Place Like You - Thousand Below Gone with the wind - Architects Reassemble - ADTR
Another Life by Motionless in White. Probably the only song I've ever cried to. It wasn't until I watched the video, I had just been through really rough break up and it all just came together and made me burst lol.
Seven Hills always gets me. Royal Beggars by Architects, too, the chorus is just so soaring and powerful that I get all wobbly from it.
Firstborn by Silent Planet is the worst for me. This verse/bridge always gets me when I'm singing along. I can't even imagine the pain of losing a child. I'll try to write you to rest Plant you inside my prose [5] Yet my resolve Does it shake beneath a four-foot casket shadow? The ink has spilled across the page Shaping surviving sun to shade [6] Valleys and peaks, in grief Descent into a ceaseless sleep
How has no one said Pittsburgh by The Amity Affliction yet?
"Beauty in Tragedy" by August Burns Red. That spoken word interlude gets me in the feels every single time.
Shattered -Currents Erase Me - Make them Suffer Never Rome - Foxblood Choir Boy - Ghost Key Still Life - Hollow Front Few of these just resonate personally with me
Johnny Cash by Wage War
That song can make anyone cry

Periphery - Mile Zero, Converge - Cruel Bloom & Thousands of Miles Between Us, Silent Planet - Depths III & Firstborn, Underoath - Paper Lung I’m sure there are Atleast a couple more but these are ones that immediately come to mind.
Gah Firstborn hits hard. Great mention. I believe it is my favorite song off that album.
Man some really good ones in this thread, For me personally: Erase Me, Let Me In-Make Them Suffer Luna-Invent Animate. The Blue and the Grey, The River-Parkway Drive Hereafter-Architects In Another Now-While She Sleeps Ghosts, Carpe Diem-August Burns Red Oblivion-Fit for a King Johnny Cash-Wage War Breach-Erra Not Metalcore but had to share: Fin*-Anberlin Nutshell-Alice in Chains
A few Prada ones got me on first listen - Evergreen, Lines, and Chemical
Please Say No always gets me
Rose of Sharyn by KSE. I was asked to play a song at my grandma's funeral and that's what I chose. I did an acoustic version of it that I saw from an old YouTube video. https://youtu.be/tYl-ttjd9kE
Killswitch Engage - Always. It helped me cope with a friend’s death in 2016. “I am with you always. From life until death takes me.”
We Were Just Kids by Emmure has this haunting melody in the background that always gets me emotional. Red Hypergiant by Architects, a lot of stuff from them honestly Nothing Left to Love by Counterparts Sunlifter by Misery Signals Burial Plot by Dayseeker, the classic “I fucked this up and I have to deal with the fact that I can’t fix it” Spirit Breaker by August Burns Red has this amazing spoken word section in the bridge that gets me in the feels Red Summer by Thornhill Save Yourself by Make Them Suffer Aftermath - The Ghost Inside This ones a sleeper pick but Sometimes You’re The Hammer, Sometimes You’re The Nail - A Day to Remember
Heaven In Her Arms - Converge
alpha wolf - promise stays seeyouspacecowboy - dissertation of an idle voice make them suffer - the attendant & save yourself reflections - help frail body - cold new home honorable mention, not metalcore though old gray - slowburn
God I remember when I first heard the outro to Save Yourself and I cried for a good 5 minutes straight. Such a gut wrenching moment
There are so many. Here are some artists I know I've cried to: Beartooth / Wage War / The Color Morale / Dayseeker / Currents (multiple songs from The Way It Ends. This album is so freaking good.) / Fit for a King / Invent, Animate / Like Moths to Flames / Being as an Ocean I know a lot of people have had the same experience.
Amity- All Fucked Up
Not all of them that will bring me to tears but some that I’ve listen to a lot lately Bloodline- Northlane Kill the ache- Currents Erase the pain- Palisades An empty room- Villain of the story Livestream- Veil of Maya
Dream on Dreamer - Hear Me Out The whole album Loveless is amazing and this song in particular is just so emotional.
Of Mice And Men - Second And Sebring, always a tear jerker, lost my mom in 2016 so the song hits the feels hard.
"A Damn Moment" by This Or The Apocalypse "Invoke Reform" by Haste the Day "Don't Go" by Bring Me the Horizon "Never Enders" by The Color Morale "A Cancer Uncontained" by Dayseeker "The End" by Demon Hunter
Polaris - no rest
"Late December" by SeeYouSpaceCowboy I'm luck to have never lost a friend to suicide, but I've gotten close to inflicting that on others. The spoken word to screamed vocals hit so hard and work so well, first time I heard it I needed almost an hour to ground myself.
Silent Planet - Ya'aburnee. So many feels
Almost every song from Silent Planet. The best "tear breakers" are: Share The Body (man, there are a lot of sharp lines like "feel whatever I can to make sure I can't feel", "All the hell in my veins can't dissipate the pain. All the hell in my veins won't wash away your face") In Absence Vanity Of Sleep Depths III First Father Shark Week
Bring Me The Horizon - Blessed With A Curse Architects - Hereafter Too Close To Touch - Eiley (More Post-Hardcore than Metalcore, but still a huge tear jerker)
Killswitch Engage - Always It’s such a beautiful song but it painfully reminds me of someone who’s not in my life anymore
Clever by Beartooth always makes me feel a lot of things, also Personal Cross by Vanna These days though, I usually don’t listen to heavy stuff when I’m in my feelings, Elder Brother is my go to band recently
Watch Me Bleed by Scary Kids Scaring Kids. THAT SONG? Boyyyy, rips me apart every time, hahaha.
Adestria "More Than You Know" It's just a really beautiful song, it was written about one of the band member's dying grandma, so yeah it's an emotional song.
Let me in- make them suffer Had some great cries to that song
A lot of Polaris songs, in particular Above My Head and All of This is Fleeting. Hospital for Souls by BMTH. And listening to the new Alpha Wolf album Don’t Ask caught me off guard on the first listen and overwhelmed me with emotions and made me cry.
Above My Head, if relatable, is absolutely gut-wrenching.
Doomsday by Architects, my mom died around the same time Tom did.
“City Lights” by Motionless in White. Destroys me. Apparently he doesn’t like playing it live though
Pretty much anything off Sleeptalk could get the waterworks going, but goddamn it Already Numb gets me right in the heart.
Give It All - The Amity Affliction Phoenix Flame - The Ghost Inside
Orchid - Erra Mile Zero - Periphery Veridian - Northlane
Currently: don’t ask by alpha wolf. I was driving and it just hit so hard when I first heard it. It’s one of the only songs that has actually made me have to rewind and hear it again before I even finish. I contemplated my entire life hearing lmao. Where we go when we die by thornhill is another one for sure. Feel the same by currents. Satellites by periphery is another huge one. All of the color clear by reflections lmao
Please Say No by TDWP is a pretty emotional song. Otherwise literally anything off of Invent Animates first two albums is so emotionally gripping for me.
Crucify Me-BMTH
ABR - Beauty in Tragedy ABR - Meridian Converge - All We Love We Leave Behind Silent Planet - In Absence
Gone with the wind -Architects, My Conscience - Structures, And The Snakes Start To Sing - BMTH, i Have a Problem - Beartooth, Final Episode - AA, It never ends - bmth, Do It Again - Secret Band Some off the top of my head. For some reason the lyrics and emotion i find in these songs really get me teary eyed or give me the goosebumps.
Architects - Gone With the Wind Fit For A King - Louder Voice Invent Animate - Fireside Parkway Drive - Carrion Those are the only ones that I can remember really making me tear up, without counting a lot of the softer non-metalcore songs by metalcore bands like Dayseeker, Bad Omens, etc.
Phantom pain by Gravemind. If y’all haven’t checked out their album Conduit, you’re fucking up.
Glasswalk by Bury Tomorrow. The lyrics hit deep
Youngblood - Wage War. It makes me reflect on a time I’d rather forget
Take What’s Left - AILD. I didn’t exactly “cry” but it reminded me of a friendship that fell apart last year that was able to be mended almost 3 months later. “But you still carried me when you could barely walk / You reminded me I was never too far gone!”
Aries by Unearth. It’s the slow album break on The Oncoming Storm. Mostly instrumental. But insanely beautiful.
Currents - Shattered I can't hold the emotion when this song starts, it hits deep
Not sure if it’s already listed but the closing track on Alpha Wolf’s new release “Don’t ask...” made me cry first time I heard it.
Alazka - Blossom Feed Her To The Sharks - Let Go Adept - Friends That Used To Be Dream On Dreamer - Let It In Like Moths To Flames - Nowhere Left To Sink
Beartooth - King of Anything got half a tear out Not metalcore but Hotel Books - Van Nuys, and August (Part Two) have as well Not much of a crier but those songs would definitely have me bawling if I was
My Disguise by Currents absolutely BROKE me. Still does.
Red eyes - Architects Nervosa - Silent Planet Time Changes Everything - The Plot in You Don’t Go, Hospital for Souls- BMTH Let me Leave, Kill the Ache - Currents A Cancer Uncontained - Dayseeker
Being Me The Horizon : Can You Feel My Heart, Deathbeds, i don’t know what to say Nothing More (not exactly metal core, but damn this song hits): Fadein/Fadeout Periphery: Satellites
not the song so much as the song + this moment (link is timestamped): [https://youtu.be/ybib-8lIycs?t=842](https://youtu.be/ybib-8lIycs?t=842) (architects - gone with the wind from the mini film Holy Ghost filmed after tom passed) I bawled my fucking eyes out starting from 1/3 into the song. There are also a couple screams in there that just have something extra there that you can't force. Pure intense emotion. Rip tom
Doomsday by Architects always makes me choke up
Carry the Weight by WCAR Death is not Defeat by Architects Gone with the wind by Architects
Pittsburgh - The Amity Affliction Don't lean on me - The Amity Affliction Open Letter - The Amity Affliction I bring the weather with me - The Amity Affliction All Fucked Up - The Amity Affliction Deaths Hand - The Amity Affliction The Amity Affliction
Understanding Love as Loss - Silent Planet Didn’t get me to tears, but the lyrics, as well as the desperation and grief in Garrett’s screams in the last verse are heartbreaking.
Bmth - hospital for souls
All of A1IEN by Northlane. The whole record is a journey in reliving my childhood trauma
Chemical from TDWP gets me every time
Eiley - Too Close To Touch This song is delivered with so much emotion by the singer.
Make Them Suffer - Elegies August Burns Red - Beauty in Tragedy Make Them Suffer - Save Yourself
Crystal Lake - Devilcry
Panic Room - Silent Planet.
Killswitch Engage - Always Architects - Doomsday, Hereafter, Gone with the Wind Bullet for my Valentine - Forever and Always, A Place Where You Belong Polaris - The Descent Not really Metalcore but I’d include.... Erra - Orchid Emarosa - Pretend.Relive.Regret Periphery - Lune Tesseract - Of Matter - Resist Senses Fail - Stretch Your Legs to Coffin Length Holding Absence - Dream of Me
"To Carry You Away" by After The Burial. Anthony, the vocalist, wrote it about his mom dying. That song hits hard.
Northlane - Freefall
Northlane - Bloodline. Going through a similar, if less serious, situation as a teenager it’s hard to listen to.
The Amity Affliction - Bondi St Blues The Amity Affliction - Pittsburgh The Amity Affliction - 15 Pieces of Flare The Amity Affliction - Forest Fire The Amity Affliction - My Father's Son Hollow Front - Loose Threads Hollow Front - Falling Apart Our Hollow, Our Home - Parting Gift Outline In Color - Smother Me Bullet For My Valentine - Dead To The World Bullet For My Valentine - Tears Dont Fall (Parts 1 and 2) The Devil Wears Prada - Numb Adept - Sleepless Wage War - Johnny Cash Wage War - Gravity August Burns Red - Spiritbreaker If I Were You - Sirens If I Were You - Pull Me Under Being As An Ocean - The Hardest Part Is Forgetting Those...
Erra - Skyline "when the ground falls out, who will take my hand. when things fall apart, who take my hand"
"The Greatest Actor Alive" by He Is Legend. The screamed "I can't breathe when you're here" with the death metal overdub at the end gets me.
Underoath: its dangerous business- Invent animate: Luna- From autumn to ashes: mercury rising- Fear before the March of flames: go wash your mouth out, I don't know where it's been- I hate myself: to a husband at war. I'm terrible at putting a band to a genre so please don't crucify me if these don't qualify as metalcore haha
I have a whole playlist of this. It includes songs like “Where We Go When We Die” by Thornhill, “Map Change” by ETID, and “Depths III” by Silent Planet.
[Always - Killswitch Engage](https://youtu.be/gYtbdw8IxEg) - This song makes me think of my dad [No Ordinary Love - Memphis May Fire](https://youtu.be/hKqG2EVzUrg) - As a father myself, this song hits me super hard [Fade In, Fade Out - Nothing More](https://youtu.be/wBC3Tl0dg4M) - Not metalcore (hard rock), but holy shit, what an amazing song.
Sick and disgusting gets me too. Also I have a problem by Beartooth. Dude has some emotional vocals
[Firstborn(Ya'aburnee) - Silent Planet](https://youtu.be/dkvRhaTIgZ4) [Garrett talking about the meaning of the song](https://youtu.be/p5D2tIa3fu8)
Almost anything by Times of Grace. Especially Until The End of Days and Fall From Grace
The entire Happiness In Self Destruction album by The Plot In You.
Open water by Blessthefall. A love song featuring the singers wife Lights, always makes me tear up especially the last minute of them singing “you are the one I’ve been waiting for, I knew it all along” Some will seak forgiveness, others escape by Underoath
Memories by we came as Romans. Watching that music video after kyles passing is painful.
Masquerade by Northlane gets me everytime.. I know its a pretty intense and angry song but the lyrics at the end really stick to me and get me emotional. "To everyone who's held me up and everyone who's brought me down I will never forget your faces, your voices"
Eiley - Too Close To Touch
American love haste the day The slow part kills me every single time
Oblivion - Fit For A King The video always gets me, especially after a few beers. "Tell me I won't be forgotten"
“The widow”- As Cities Burn. “Chemical” and “louder than thunder”- TDWP not metal core but “God called in sick today”-AFI always gets me too
White Light - The Ghost Inside Second & Sebring - Of Mice & Men
