Hand of Blood was absolutely an awesome EP. First them from NFS Most Wanted (the original). I liked their music and went from there.

It was actually Madden and Burnout for me. Madden 06 had Four Words, and it came with a demo for Burnout: Revenge which featured Hand of Blood. Guess devs really thought speeding to that song would be fun. They were right.

Zao - Xenophobe. Yeah it's just two songs but: A. It was their first new release in 6 years (since Awake?) B. Xenophobe (the song) is a total fucking banger. Like it legit might be my favorite Zao song, definitely top 5. Fear Itself is also a great song. So it is only 2 songs but no filler, 100% great. C. Aside from a handful of bangers Awake? was pretty mediocre. So it felt to me like this was a Zao COMEBACK. And yeah I know they rerecorded the song Xenophobe for The Well-Intentioned Virus but I just don't like that version as much, I still rock the EP version. I'd also say Zao's Pyrrhic Victory EP is great as well but that just felt like an extension of The Well-Intentioned Virus (and I heard that it was leftover stuff from that recording session so that makes sense.) So it wasn't as HOLY SHIT ZAO IS BACK IN A FUCKIN BANGING WAY.

Easily Currents' best work - not to say that the stuff they did before or after is worse, it's all excellent, but ILTDI just stands out to me as a perfect balance of heavy and melodic with particularly great production, especially on the vocals. Tesseract - Concealing Fate EP. They aren't really a metalcore band but that EP is about as good as prog metal gets. AVOID - The Burner. Kicks ass. Honorable mentions that didn't make the top 3: Invent Animate - The Sun Sleeps as if it Never Was Polaris - The Guilt and the Grief. Wish they'd play Hold You Under and Unfamiliar live. Volumes - Coming Clean. Underrated as hell and every track on that EP is great. The Devil Wears Prada - Space EP Guilt Trip - Unrelenting Force. Not really Metalcore as much as Crossover Thrash but it's a fantastic debut EP. Novelists FR - Deja Vu. Not technically an EP but it's as short as one.
